4.5 Like the owner and chef, Joe, told me: "Nothing but vibes in here." He wasn't lying. We were looking for breakfast on our way from Hudson to Woodbury Commons last Sunday, and Good Eat'n came up as a highly rated option. Good Eat'n isn't trying to impress you with flashy decor, and I think that's part of its charm. The space is clean, comfortable, and has clearly made some updates from the previous establishment. What makes the place memorable though is the hospitality. Joe was behind the counter when we arrived, greeting us like old friends, introducing us to a couple of regulars and his server, and inviting us to sit wherever we'd like. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the menu, but it was a straightforward breakfast menu. We ordered an egg sandwich with sausage and a stack of pancakes with sausage. In my opinion, the portions were very generous, especially the size of the sausage and the pancakes (check out the picture). When Joe noticed I was slowing down toward the end of my meal, he actually started cheering me on to finish--and even gave me a hug afterwards when I just couldn't do it. My only critique was how salty the sausages were. Other than that, good food, good people, and good vibes.

Food is absolutely delicious. Black-owned, father-daughter owned, legacy business! Staff is so friendly and helpful. Can't wait to return!

Any time we're out running errands on Broadway in Kingston, NY or just happen to be driving by, we always catch a glimpse of Good Eat'N and say, "One of these days, we're stopping in." Well, the day I went in after work to pick up dinner was finally the day and let me tell you, it didn't disappoint. As a pescatarian, the very first thing I scan for in any soul-food menu is the fish situation. Their fried whiting caught my attention. Meanwhile, my husband is loyal to his meat classics: fried chicken or ribs. No surprise he went straight for the fried chicken. The real cherry on top was chatting with the owner's daughter, Mercedes. We ended up cracking up over our names. I mean seriously, what are the chances? It felt like one of those small-world moments that instantly makes a place feel even more welcoming. Good Eat'N truly lives up to its name. The service is amazing, the history behind the place is heartfelt, and their motto, "Have a Blessed Day", is something they genuinely deliver. You can feel the love, the pride and the smiles in every corner and their food. And before I forget... the cornbread. Not just their classic cornbread, which is already chef's kiss, but their sweet potato cornbread. Yup, Sweet. Potato. Cornbread. A little different- but tasty.Good Eat'N is a true gem up in these sticks and I'm so glad I finally stopped by.

First time in Kingston and found this great spot! We went for breakfast but they also serve lunch and dinner. Will definitely come back. Egg sandwich and grits were fresh and delicious! More than that the owner and staff were friendly, attentive and just good people. Love the friendly, family vibe. Definitely check this place out.

The ambiance at Good Eat'n was charming, cozy and comforting. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner Joe as well as his staff. The initial greet in any establishment will set the tone of whats too come, experience wise. I was so happy I looked up southern food and came across this establishment. The ambiance is something I'd like to compare to dinner at grandmas house on a Sunday afternoon. This is the perfect environment to dine in on any given day, especially if you're looking for a fantastic southern cooked meal. Everything on the menu looked incredible so I had to go with a couple different dishes to get a feel of the menu. I had the catfish which was lightly breaded, had the perfect crunch and nice flavor. The ribs were so tender and fall off the bone I mean it was incredible, paired with the delicious collard greens. Next the fried chicken.... Wow the crunch, the flavor and the juiciness of the chicken had me in awe. That dish was also paired with a tasty and cheesy Mac n cheese as well as yams. The cornbread is and will always be a favorite of mine during dinner. Can we talk about the turkey? I mean wow so juicy and flavorful , I almost thought I was having thanksgiving, I mean juicy and surpassed my expectations. Now everyone's part of any meal... desert, am I right? This cake was the perfect late night to go snack with a warm cup of milk. I can't wait to come back and indulge in five more dishes. Thank you Good Eat'n and staff for such an amazing experience.

The food is made with love and was extremely flavorful and delicious - made with love. Mercedes and Chef Joe could not have warmer, really top tier service. They redid the place that's been around for years, really fresh and warm atmosphere. Will be coming here again.

minus the cornbread that i tore up immediately!

Went up to the rooftop & what a nice dinner we had. We decided to split the GEM Apple Salad(to die for) Strega Pinsa(pizza,w/mozz,ricotta,italian sausage, broccoli rabe) so frickin good, and some Thai wings(my least favorite, missing the flavor for me a little) I ordered a vodka drink called Strega "something", lol, can't think of the name but it had mint in it and very tasty. Of course our fat asses ordered the 3 Gelato flavors, and ate it all!!! It was so good. The best thing about the whole thing was Dillon, our server, who could take everything we dished out & gave back to us,2 50something divas, we enjoyed bantering with him, and over all, he was super gracious & sweet. Thank you! A winner in my book!

The highlight of our dinner was the truffle fries. We ordered the mussels appetizer, and it was flavorless. My BF enjoyed his burger, but the seafood Alfredo I had was quite disappointing; the pasta was cooked perfectly, but the sauce left much to be desired; it could've used more sauce and flavor. The restaurant is pricey; just a side order of truffle fries was $11.

The decor, from the booths to the lampshades, seem like they haven't changed in decades and are in excellent condition. The tables have tops that have obviously been replaced at some point, as they aren't the expected laminate, but otherwise it's like going back in time. We were looking for a traditional breakfast place open on a weekday (rather than a bagel shop or a place that only sells breakfast sandwiches), and this fit the bill. Service was efficient and attentive. They have a large array of menu items, but we both chose to get the breakfast burrito, without the meat. There was a bit too much potato inside for our taste, but others may prefer it that way. The side of salsa that came with it was delicious and made up for any lack of seasoning when we removed the salty meat. We would return when looking for a traditional diner with a large variety of choices.

I had the manager come over and an old lady came and I told her my pork was hard as a rock and I was showing her with the fork and she had the nerve to say "Well we have to cook it" And basically walked away! They should of 110% took it off the bill!! The one night I ordered open hot turkey sandwich and the gravy was boiling (literally) I had a burn on my finger for two weeks! It's definitely gone down hill-sad because I've been going there for many-many years!! Andy u should talk to your managers!! Not cool! First time they didn't hand us the bill- the brought it up to the register smh -

This whole time, I really thought this place was inside a cozy hotel about 2 blocks over. Guess you learn something new every day. We pulled up on a Thurs. around 4 with no res. and got seated real quick. Restaurant K. is airy, chic and gives a relaxed vibe. The menu is on the smaller side, but honestly, there's something for every eating style. We kept things light instead of diving into something heavy. Our spring greens salad was really good: hefty mound of mixed greens, lima beans, string beans and a hint of dill to make everything pop. Hubs had the double-stacked burger with white cheddar on a potato bun and loved it. I had high hopes for the hush puppies because they sounded amazing on paper- but they were doughy than corny and threw me off. Then came dessert. Again- sounded great on paper. It kinda feels like desserts get a "reinvented" treatment here(?). For instance, the strawberry shortcake was deconstructed: a few chunks of white cake, some diced strawberries and whipped cream. Totally unexpected. I ordered the 'Fun-Fetti Dunkaroos' with madeleines because they caught my eye, but they're smaller than standard. The food isn't bad at all. We were just caught off guard by how some of our selections were prepped. What really saved the evening were the cocktails. They were beautifully made and had a lot of strength. No watered-down nonsense here! Plus, our server Karina(?) was super sweet. I asked if I could try the passion fruit purée to see if it was the real deal for one of the cocktails I ordered and she brought me a little sample. Passed the test!
