Arrived on a Friday afternoon and quickly found parking across the street as their lot was full. Got seated right away and our waitress was very pleasant. I'm pretty sure I read the building was built in the 1600's which is just incredible. You can just feel the history in there! We were there during lunch hours but the kitchen agreed to make us calamari from their dinner appetizer menu which was so kind. It was crispy and delicious. My husband had the French dip with sweet potato fries and said the sandwich was one of the best he's had. I had the lamb sandwich which is such a unique offering I had to order it! Also delicious and cooked to a perfect medium rare. We would highly recommend it!

From the time we called to change our 7:00 reservation to a 3:30 time slot (due to pending snowstorm), the staff was exceptionally warm and understanding. We asked to be seated near a fire place for sweet ambiance and had the perfect table for two! The Roast beef Napoleon was my husband's choice and the focaccia bun was overflowing! My fish and chips also made the colonial experience superb! I would highly recommend eating here! Everything was great and glad we beat the snow!

b.overly_delicious @hoffmanhousetavern Kingston,NY: So i'm embarrassed to say, I've never been to the Hoffman House. Like ever! Some close friends of mine, finally dragged me in to experience the colonial pilgrim vibes of the original stockade. Checked the menu online and couldn't believe the prices! Everyone in our group had the French onion soup. Below the gooey mozzarella (I believe) lies a deep bowl of black pepper and onion broth. Very good and very much pepper forward. So much so, you little get a chew of peppercorns in your mouth after each bite. I love black pepper so this was fine with me. Rueben and fries ($12), Bacon cheeseburger ($14), and the garlic steak sandwich ($13.5) all served with fries were properly portioned for the price. This must be the best deal in town! Absolute deliciousness! Garlic steak stacked with garlic butter dripping out of the roll and smeared with blue cheese. The standard battered fries were seasoned which I haven't seen before (my favorite frozen variety). Waitress was extremely pleasant and accommodating. This place is like stepping back in time but not the 60s, 70, or even 50s. We are talking 1800-1700s. Felt like a real pilgrim. Scallops Marsala

Was seriously wowed by dinner here! It's been recommended for a long time and this winter we finally made it in. Quaint and warm and perfect for colder weather as we were seated right by the fire place. Hearty, delicious food and attentive service. French leaning menu with something for everyone. Everything we ordered was delicious and for the quality of seafood/meat and the portion size the prices were more than reasonable. Lovedddd the French onion soup and the calamari buffalo style. My partner loved the seafood pasta which was well seasoned and deliciously decadent without being too heavy or creamy. The scallop Marsala served over mashed potatoes was cooked to perfection. I didn't get a chance to try but garlic steak also had rave reviews . Hoffman house definitely earned these five stars! Great option in Kingston.

    Duck and mashed potatoes

Very good food ! I got the duck and mashed potatoes, and it was a bigger portion than I thought ! They also give out bread in the beginning. The atmosphere is very weird tho...it reminds me of being in someone's grandparents home, except without the familiar feeling lol. Maybe it was just where we were seated.

We came here on a Tuesday around 5:15pm. This place has a really great ambiance. Old building with several different rooms. In order to find the entrance you need to walk into the "courtyard" from the street and walk around back to the entrance. You enter the bar and we were greeted there. We got a table immediately. Our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered drinks: lychee spritz (needed a little more lychee), blood and bourbon (strong bourbon) and the whiskey punch (sweet and orangie). Food: coconut shrimp appetizer, and two garlic steak sandwiches. On the appetizer (only three shrimp..they were larger ones but a little disappointing-flavor was good and cooked nice and crunchy-peach dipping sauce was good too), steak sandwiches-(nice soft fresh ciabatta roll with lots of steak and onions and added mushrooms with cheese-tasty) Looking around at other tables (one got their appetizer well before we got our food) it took what seemed to be a long time to get our order. When we received our food it was freshly made and hot. Our server checked on us once after we got our food. (Did we get lost in the crowd of regulars??!!??)

New York Strip Steak au Poivre, twice baked potato

I really wanted a steak whilst staying in Kingston over the weekend and Hoffman House Tavern truly delivered. The interior is cozy and inviting with rustic wood decor. I ordered the NY Strip with Au Poivre sauce $29 with a twice baked potato and a salad. Warm bread with butter was served. The server was very sweet and accommodating. 10/10

We enjoyed the Figgy chicken sandwich (fig jam, plentiful greens, cheese and chicken, bun could have been better quality) with salad (pretty fresh), and the Caesar chicken sandwich with fries. The server (owner?) was very friendly and explained the menu, saying specifically that the chicken sandwiches are made to order. There were only two other occupied tables on a Saturday afternoon and the food took a little while to come out (not very bad but not super fast). It also seems like a place that should be crowded but wasn't. Coffee was self service. They also had a pumpkin pie in a plastic container (didn't look homemade) in the front. There's a little children's play area in the back. And the unisex bathroom was very large. It's located on a street with lots of shops and other eateries (pizza etc).

Our waitress was very nice, really chill, checked in once but if we had flagged her over I'm sure she would have been attentive more but we just didn't need anything. We ordered two different versions of their chicken sandwiches and they both were amazing! I ordered the club and substituted out for the Big Mac sauce, it was ridiculously delicious! The owner/chef I believe came over after our food was served which was really nice to check in and offered some future suggestions that we'll be sure to take her up on. The food was cooked to order, super fresh and a lot of details that made it a perfect bite! Cute place with a variety of seating options, the old brick work pops through in some places which adds a really nice historic charm to the place. We'll definitely be back to give a few more menu items a try!

This whole time, I really thought this place was inside a cozy hotel about 2 blocks over. Guess you learn something new every day. We pulled up on a Thurs. around 4 with no res. and got seated real quick. Restaurant K. is airy, chic and gives a relaxed vibe. The menu is on the smaller side, but honestly, there's something for every eating style. We kept things light instead of diving into something heavy. Our spring greens salad was really good: hefty mound of mixed greens, lima beans, string beans and a hint of dill to make everything pop. Hubs had the double-stacked burger with white cheddar on a potato bun and loved it. I had high hopes for the hush puppies because they sounded amazing on paper- but they were doughy than corny and threw me off. Then came dessert. Again- sounded great on paper. It kinda feels like desserts get a "reinvented" treatment here(?). For instance, the strawberry shortcake was deconstructed: a few chunks of white cake, some diced strawberries and whipped cream. Totally unexpected. I ordered the 'Fun-Fetti Dunkaroos' with madeleines because they caught my eye, but they're smaller than standard. The food isn't bad at all. We were just caught off guard by how some of our selections were prepped. What really saved the evening were the cocktails. They were beautifully made and had a lot of strength. No watered-down nonsense here! Plus, our server Karina(?) was super sweet. I asked if I could try the passion fruit purée to see if it was the real deal for one of the cocktails I ordered and she brought me a little sample. Passed the test!
