Even though the British tried to burn it down during the Revolutionary War, the family restored it to previous glory and it remained in their possession for over 200 more years! Several reviews said this place is "nothing to look at", which we found really funny as we sat in paradise on the patio. Beautiful day. Quiet atmosphere. It was cute on the inside, too. All to say we found this perplexing. I normally don't ask to sit outside for fear of being forgotten (wait staff get busy and it's easy to miss tables that are out of your line of sight) but we were checked on consistently and back on the road within an hour. And also, what matters most: The food was really good. And they cooked my steak the way I asked. Gonna go out on a limb here and say the negative reviews are either greatly exaggerated or the management has since addressed the issues. This was a highlight for us on an already great trip.
