Today I ordered food to take out I asked for a modification to the fish /chicken soft tacos and the host and chefs' granted my request . I ordered salmon, soft tacos, medium to rare . I open the package to a fantastic presentation. Everything was packed and wrapped beautifully . The salmon was to die for! !!! It was so fantastically delicious! I called City Line to tell them. I explained that I usually eat salmon 2 to 3 times a week and I've traveled out of the country at least five times within the last year ordering it wherever I was . I think this is probably the best salmon I've had within this time frame . I applaud!! It was cooked perfect perfectly, and the fillets were perfect sized. The beans , rice fresh guacamole & salsa also deserve a round of applause ! Below is a picture of one of the tacos because they demolished the other ones, but it certainly doesn't do it justice! Today I visited City Line Diner in Poughkeepsie with my family. I called ahead and was told the wait would be about 10 minutes. When we arrived, we ended up waiting close to 30 minutes. While waiting, I noticed another group that stated they were a party of 9 was seated ahead of us, even though there were only 7 people, while we were a party of 6, including children. That left me confused and frustrated, especially since we had called ahead and were patiently waiting our turn. I left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. I can't speak to why the wait list was handled the way it was, but the experience made me feel that we were treated unfairly. I used to come to this diner often, and because of this experience, I will not be returning. More importantly, I hope no other family has to leave feeling the way we did today. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special Mother's Day with my family ended in frustration and disappointment. Thank you for ruining what should have been a meaningful day. read more

We were staying in Poughkeepsie for 2 nights and while looking for a restaurant to have dinner I found this diner. I was very impressed with the reviewer that gave this new business a second chance and wrote a wonderful review. We went inside and were greeted immediately and seated. Our server (Paola?) was so sweet and friendly, brought our drinks and gave us a few minutes to decide. It was a nice menu, lots of choices from breakfast items, to sandwiches, paninis, wraps, salads, Greek items and desserts. It had been a really warm day so we both felt salads would be perfect. Our Cobb salads were perfect. There was no skimping on ingredients. I prefer my salad ingredients not mixed and it was arranged beautifully. This was a large bowl and everything was fresh. Lettuce, tomato, avocado, bacon, blue cheese and nicely seasoned and grilled chicken. The dressing was a creamy Italian and was nice and light on the salad. My husband and I have been visiting this diner for a couple of years. The excellent quality of service, diverse menu, and attentive staff have not changed since day one. We typically visit our favorite diner about twice a week and it never disappoints. It has been 8 months since my last review and I must say it was a one star review. We have been back many times and we have changed our mind about the City Line Diner. They have performed a 180 degree turnaround. Maybe it was the "new" start jitters or something else, but they are doing a fine job now. Service is great and friendly, and the food is top notch, and the place is always clean and well lit. The 4 of us have now made this diner our favorite get together breakfast spot. We went on Thursday night for the 1st time since it reopened as City Line. The staff was friendly & the food was delicious. My son ordered chicken tenders & it looked like they were fresh made there, I had the patty melt (huge, fresh & yummy), my husband had the French dip (also good). Th fries were fresh, crispy & hot. My wife and I found ourselves near the City Line Diner a few weeks ago and decided to have breakfast. We had an omelet and eggs benedict and both were very good. Today we returned and swapped choices and both were very good again. Service was very good too. Only thing that we'd like to see improved is the breakfast potatoes as they are no better than most diners in Dutchess County - which are best eaten with lots of ketchup. I guess we've been spoiled when we visit our S-in-L in Pennsylvania were the diner serviced breakfast potatoes are buttery, very tasty, and often service with a crisp crust if one asks or sometimes are hash browns. The Poughkeepsie 20 oz. burger was cooked a proper medium and the French fries were tasty. Prices were reasonable and the diner looked clean and refurbished. Service was a bit weak though, with no one coming by to see whether I wanted anything (I did, a soda refill and napkins). The greeter cashier were also robotic, with no warm hello or even a thank you at the end.
