Everything on the menu was wonderful, but the gentleman who seemed to be the manager or owner was truly exceptional in the way he treated the customers -- so kind and gracious. People like that are very rare these days, and seeing someone who genuinely loves what they do made me very happy! read more

Kelly's Bakery - Inside - Bakeries Near Me - Poughkeepsie, New York

Wonderful place to come without spending an arm and a leg, especially at times that are less busy. The baristas were very nice, but since it was busy we felt a bit rushed to leave (which we understand!) Great pastries/baked goods! The scones are buttery and the perfect texture. The croissant was also perfectly flaky and full of flavor. The baristas are certainly experienced. However, their beans don't seem to be of great quality, just "fine." My friends got iced lattes and commented that the flavors were just very very weak. The cold brew had a slight "woody" flavor but I didn't mind! The drip was good, very classic. Overall, you should definitely come here as the prices are super reasonable and the baked goods are wonderful. read more

Kelly's Bakery is one of those places where the line out the door actually feels like part of the charm--and trust me, it moves quickly thanks to their incredibly friendly and efficient staff!! Everyone behind the counter greets you with genuine warmth during the morning rush. The pastries are always fresh and worth the wait, but the real star of the show? Their wonderfully large cup of coffee. It's the kind that wakes you up, comforts you, and pairs perfectly with anything you grab from the bakery case. Whether you're stopping by before work or treating yourself on a slow weekend morning, Kelly's delivers every time. Great service, great coffee, and a neighborhood feel that makes you want to return again and again. read more

Very cute place and the staff are friendly and helpful. The line tends to go out the door on busy weekends, but the staff helps you find a table if there is one. There are also tables outside as well as a few benches. Food was good and coffees were good too. read more

I have been trying to get to Kelly's bakery for months now and I'm glad I finally made it. It's a Saturday, late morning on a beautiful sunny day and the line is out the door and down the ramp. A very good sign! The wait was not that long as they are hustling inside trying to get everyone taken care of. We ordered hot cardamom lattes and they are so incredibly delicious that I wished I'd ordered a large. I got Kelly's egg sandwich. Nice and hot with yummy melted cheese, caramelized onions, a yolky egg and extra for avocado. For me the brioche bun was too thick although the bread is good. Also wish it had more onions and the avocado was a small smear. It was good but I would probably not order again. The BALT (BLT with avocado) was the sandwich to beat. A nice crusty, toasted bread with delicious bacon, avocado, lettuce and tomato. I wish I had gotten this for myself! Haha. The pastry was also very good. Again those lattes were the bomb!!! read more

Came here for cappuccino and breakfast pastries and wasn't disappointed. Kids got lemonade (with cucumber and mint) and berry iced tea (which had a distinct herby flavor we couldn't quite place - magnolia root apparently) they both liked their choices. Cappuccino was good and so so pretty. I liked the ham and cheese croissant although the lamination was eh. My partner preferred the almond croissant. We also sampled the green tea blueberry muffin which tasted a lot like tea and was enjoyed. My son loved the granola bowl and the sea salt cinnamon bun was really good. The service was delightful and the space is really great, with giant windows that open completely (with or without screens). read more

I recently went there for coffee and breakfast. Upon entering the café and bakery was very clean, well lit, and had nice displays. There was a little bit of confusion around who was helping us for some reason, so we stood there for a while waiting. Not a huge deal. The food was quite good but expensive. I got the mushroom toast and my friend got the BLT sandwich. Overall, we enjoyed the experience. I found it to be very pleasant with lots of available parking. My only complaint would be the cost of the food. I would recommend this bakery. read more

The mushroom toast is definitely my absolute favorite! I have to say, it's probably one of my favorite toasts ever, where the savory, meaty and woody mushroom paired perfectly with the creamy cheese! My wife also loved their avocado toast where the avocado spread was also very decadently creamy! The staff were also friendly and kind, conversing with us casually and it was a pleasure speaking with them. The cafe is very cute with spacious seating and welcoming designs all throughout, providing a comfortable ambiance for diners to relax and enjoy themselves, with both indoor and outdoor seatings. Overall, it's a very cute cafe and I highly, HIGHLY, recommend their toasts for a quick and light bite, especially the mushroom toast if you like mushrooms! Thank you for reading and best of luck!! My third post for this place. I should start bad mouthing them since the lines are already long enough! This is a small but airy bakery/cafe. The coffee is always good the espresso drinks are excellent. BUT- it is the bread that has me driving eleven miles to stick up on baguettes and sour dough loaves. My freezer is half bread - priorities! The staff is always friendly, Darren, Lori and Daniel seem to be the main group I see every week but even the changing crew is always friendly, warm and genuinely look like they are having a good time despite how busy they can get. This is probably still the best breads I have had up in this area. The croissants are really unbelievably flaky and buttery. My only complaint is that the when the owner/baker makes something new one day for us to try it's not there the next day!! This past week he made what I'll call a focaccia with olives that's was three inches thick and made me tear up! But I couldn't find it later in the week when I went back. But it's those little "specials" that make me try anything new I see there. Stay away from Kelly's! The line is long enough. read more

Visiting my goddaughter in college and had a terrible experience She is a vegan and requested fruit on the side, can't do Can I have a few blueberries on my avocado toast Can't do There was three of us eating at a small table when one of the employees took the chair away from my daughter and asked her to sit on a piece of furniture you put a plant on; we were stunned since there were two vacant tables. I should have responded, she will finish her breakfast first. Three different employees walked over to tell my goddaughter to put away her Owala water bottle and didn't care that it was water with medication she needed to take We have been all over the world and never encountered such rudeness Save your money and your time A nice visit with my goddaughter and we left with knots in our stomach We are telling everyone at Marist to boycott Kelly's bakery!!! read more

The people here are incredibly sweet and kind. They have a strict no outside food or drink policy that they make very clear. The staff handle anyone disrespecting that with absolute grace. Watched a trio of Karen's get kicked out because they repeatedly crossed this. Heard the Karens say "wait till you see our yelp review on this place" and stormed off. So I'm here to say that the staff here were super respectful and gave them many warnings. The food was stellar and their flavors for lattes are top tier. The place is cute and has a great playlist Absolutely will be back! read more

THIS PLACE IS TOP KNOTCH! Omg everything was scrumptious, ESPECIALLY the cheesecake. Our family said it was the best we've ever had. The decor was awesome and the staff was so nice. One of them saw me pull up a third chair that was too low to sit at a two seater table and insisted I get up while he brought me the right size chair. We got in line like three separate times because we just kept ordering. They had Matinellis apple juice too! read more

We were in Poughkeepsie for one night and decided to stop at Kelly's Bakery for breakfast to start the day. We were promptly greeted by one of the staff who took the time to summarize the menu since we said it was our first time there. I got the avocado toast, which was so buttery and fresh with the sliced vegetables, and the toast itself was very warm and chewy. The lavender latte, which was very smooth, had a good ratio of steamed milk to espresso. Both were very refreshing and warmed me up as it was about 20F outside. I enjoyed the warm ambiance of this cafe. The coziness made me not want to go back outside in the cold weather. It's a place where if I lived in the area I could see myself coming here often. Before we left, I bought some pastries to go to snack on for later. I picked up a croissant, scone, earl gray cinnamon roll and sesame cookie, in which the latter two really piqued my interest because I love the flavor of earl gray tea and sesame. The croissant and scone were solid - the former crunchy yet soft, and the latter not too dry. The cinnamon roll was very strong because of the earl grey tea, and there was also a bit too much sugar on top because it was very sweet. Still an interesting concept, nonetheless. Five stars for being a hallmark to all the qualities of a great cafe - warm service, hot coffee and fresh food. read more

Favorite bakery in the Hudson valley I SAID IT!! Kelly's can. not. miss. We discovered this spot in the midst of COVID when it was much less busy and it's been consistently amazing since. Quality has not gone down even with a line out the door! The croissants are the best I've had outside of France, the monkey bread is heavenly, banana bread is soft and moist and not too sweet and the chocolate babka muffin was super delicious. I've never had something here I didn't make happy noises whilst eating. I love the unusual + innovative flavor combos and constantly changing menu. They also have homemade flavored syrups for espresso drinks (my favorite is the lavender). The huge open garage door windows make this an ideal work/study spot in warmer weather but that's really only feasible on an off-time as they are constantly moving tables in and out (and ask you only sit for max 90 mins). I can't get enough of Kellys pls stay here forever! read more

Am I here? Have I arrived? At THEE most amazing bakery in Poughkeepsie? Yes. This is IT! Bakery AND cafe, Kelly's has it all. Also, let's take a moment to talk about Kelly: the owners dog! This place was named after his dog!!!!!!!! IN- LOVE. From granola bowls to mushroom roasts, artisanal breads to croissants: this is the place to BE! First of all: when you walk in you're transformed to a space of comfort. Someone's living room. You can sit, relax with your friends. Choose a table, choose a couch. Your choice. Such a trendy, mid century vibe but also feels like home. It's easy. Walk in, see the goods, place your order! Best part? There's options for EVERYONE. This place is mostly vegetarian friendly but they do have options to add carnivore things. Also, vegan and gluten free options are available. Huge shot out to Kevin for being amazing but also huge shot out to the baristas: they make ART! Love Kelly's. Love the place. Location. Vibe. Food. Drinks. All! read more

The is absolutely the best breakfast and pastries you will have in Poughkeepsie! We were visiting for a friend's wedding and wanted to get breakfast in the morning and try the walkway over the Hudson. We started with a slice of buttered almond cake and pumpkin cake. Both were super moist, flavorful and delicious. We also had two medium, hot caramel lattes and the Kelley's egg sandwich. The roll was soft and fluffy, the egg was cooked perfectly, topped with caramelized onions and comes piled with Gruyère cheese. You can also top it with crispy thick cut bacon or chicken sausage. I highly recommend trying the breakfast sandwich! read more

I have tried this bakery several times and each time have had a negative experience. They don't have enough food. The service is slow and unwelcoming. They don't like if you just get a cup of coffee and sit. Constantly clearing the tables that customers are still sitting at. The owners/mangers have an elitist attitude and seem to cater to their regulars. I won't be going there again. read more

I love love love Kelly's bakery. The coffee is strong and perfect, and the baked goods are to die for. My partner and I always stop by whenever we have a chance to give ourselves a little treat! Their scones are my favorite! I think the scone dough is all the same for the different flavors though so I would recommend just ordering one and trying something else if you're in between pastries. The inside of the cafe has a warm cozy vibe with room to sit and talk so you can plan to stay a while! Some notes for a great visit: They're quick with the orders, but depending on the time & day, might be really busy so plan accordingly. On their busiest days, you may have to stand in a line that goes out the door. Also, be careful with the parking. There's not a lot of parking without reserved signs for other businesses so double-check before you go; we notice tow trucks driving by often in the area. read more

I have to admit, my experience with Kelly's is very limited. My aunt was kind enough to bring us some of their pastries, so I haven't even set foot inside yet. So far, I only know four things about this new Poughkeepsie bakery: 1. It's new, and it's in Poughkeepsie. 2. They made an everything bagel croissant that was DELICIOUS. (I ate it too fast to snap a photo.) 3. They made INCREDIBLE chocolate babka muffins. I don't even like chocolate babka. 4. I don't know if these are specials, or if they're available all the time, but it seems like they are definitely making whimsical, tasty baked goods that I will be eating more of in the future. And I will enjoy them. I imagine I will learn more things about Kelly's in the future, but that should be enough for you to check them out. I would tell you more, but I've already told you all the things I know. read more

Last Wed April 22, 2026, I was introduced to Kelly's through the CIA. I visited with friends between events at FDR and enjoyed sandwiches, pastries, and bread to take home. It was a memorable experience, with excellent staff and service. However, my visit today was very disappointing. I stopped in to pick up sunflower bread, as previously recommended. At the counter, a staff member told me only garlic-onion bread was available today and that sunflower bread would be available tomorrow. I agreed to take the garlic-onion loaf and asked if it could be sliced, also mentioning that I planned to return the next day for sunflower bread. As I was completing the purchase, another staff member passing by stated that the bread was in fact sunflower. The first employee then changed course and asked how many I wanted. I requested one loaf and again asked if it could be sliced. He responded that they do not slice bread. I explained that during my visit last Wed., the breads have been sliced for us, and I also shared that I am a senior with a disability, specifically severe arthritis in both hands, which makes slicing difficult. A second staff member then interjected, stating that the bread should not have been sliced for me previously and that only sourdough is sliced, and only after 10 a.m. This interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and discouraged. The contrast between the welcoming, accommodating staff I encountered last Wednesday and today's experience was striking. Unfortunately, this visit significantly impacted my impression of Kelly's. read more

NOT KID FRIENDLY!! What a horrible experience. I walked in with my sister, my niece (3.5 years old), my nephew (3 months), my boyfriend and my brother in law. I understand not wanting people to sit before ordering but with kids - what else do you expect!!! The guy behind the counter told us we could not sit , clearly having no empathy for a family with 2 children? When there was a long line. And then on top of that, he tried to take my water bottle to hold behind the counter. How is a restaurant stricter than a movie theater???? We walked out so my review is not at all based on the food yet the experience. I understand a dine in restaurant not being kid friendly, but this is a bakery and lunch spot where you order at the counter. How strange. read more

Second other reviewers - not kid friendly. We were harassed twice by separate employees to put away an empty sippy cup we brought in for our 18 month old daughter as the place does not allow outside containers. When we explained we filled the container with their water when we arrived they still insisted stating that we could have alcohol in it. Staff was acting a bit insane and we absolutely did not feel welcomed. Food was so-so, but overpriced. read more

As mentioned in many other reviews, the food here is good, but the service is another story. I've had multiple experiences at this cafe where a male employee has either grabbed my arm or touched my belongings without permission. Personal space clearly isn't respected here. I understand asking someone to move their things, but grabbing my shoulders from behind. Especially when I had noise-canceling headphones on. It is completely inappropriate and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and caught off guard. Why are we grabbing people and being so aggressive? This has happened more than once, and it's not okay. I won't be returning because every time I've been here, I've left feeling off and uneasy. On top of that, when my significant other and I visited together, we were immediately told (in a rude tone) about a 90-minute seating limit. Which, fine, that's the policy--but the same employee kept approaching us and hovering, clearly watching what we were doing. It felt invasive and unwelcoming. Judging by other reviews, this seems to be a pattern. Instead of making excuses or giving copy-paste responses to criticism, maybe it's time to actually address and fix the root of the problem: the touchy behavior and rude attitudes. It's not that hard to be kind to people, or to keep your hands to yourself. If you want to feel uncomfortable and be touched, this is a great spot for you. Like I predicted, the owner replies with "Sorry for trying to grab your attention". Grab my attention by tapping me do not grab onto my arms from behind me when I am not looking. I have also been grabbed and touched when my attention was fully on this employee. So nice lame excuse for inappropriate, and uncomfortable behavior. read more

PEANUT FREE CAFE??? AMAZING! I went here last week with my mother in law (she loves this place!) unsure if I would be able to get anything other than a drink because we couldn't call beforehand to see how safe they were for peanut allergens.
