    LIFE CHANGING PRETZEL BAGEL
    Hayley R.

Oh my sweet, sweet friend. This place, this place changes everything. When I wake up in the morning, I hear the Bakery's sweet, succulent song. She calls me for breakfast, she calls me for lunch, & if I'm feeling extra ravenous, she beckons me for a big Ol' supper. What kind of sailor would I be if I were to ignore the Bakery's siren song? (a boring one for sure!) Anyway, you walk into this wonderful establishment & are immediately coated in the scent of pastries, bread, & my personal favorite... b a g e l s. Oh the bagels, how thee fill me with glee. The staff here handle those delicious circles with such care. The cream cheese schmear is always excellent- they never hold back. They toast with great finesse, & always hand me my sweet bagel treat with a smile. Even if the line is out the door, these brave employees are able to work faster than the speed of light. I've never seen a more hardworking team (which says a lot considering I personally know the Avengers), these soldiers can handle any challenge! Aside from the show stopping service, the atmosphere in this fine bake shop is nothing short of spectacular. When I walk up those Bakery stairs, I know I'm home. My close compadres & I share a lovely Bakery Meal, along with stories, laughs, & maybe even a couple smiles. This is what the Bakery was made for... community, friendship, & just a pinch of love. The artwork on the wall is also quite enamoring, why would I even bother with the MET when I'm being blessed with these beautiful local works? It feels ethereal to finally be able to return this location after that dreadful flood. Those 7 moons were incredibly dastardly, & I personally missed that special Bakery magic. However, as I stand in front of this restaurant today, & I am met with so much pride. The Bakery truly prevailed, & I'm absolutely thrilled to see her success in the present day. Never. Stop. Baking. (Please)

Would you want to sit on this?? Yuck

I've been coming here for 25 years......... I last posted a review 2 years ago, not much has changed. The positive is that this place has great bagels and great pastries........ The negative is that it needs updating g, same decor for 20+ years; kinda feels dirty. Also, I really wanna eat outside, but the outdoor furniture is truly disgusting. This place could be so much more........I will continue to patronize because the food is good.

We only took a very brief trip here for drinks during our downtown New Paltz adventure, but I was impressed with the wide array of baked goods and sandwich offerings, plus an array of coffee and tea beverages, and pre-bottled drinks in a cooler. Pretty much everything you could ever want from an old-school bakery, with a couple of cute surprises, like dinosaur shaped sugar cookies! I'm still regretting that we didn't get to try one a week and a half later! We just got a diet raspberry tea and a comically large water bottle - see attached image.. it was GIANT. The Bakery's interior is quite small, but there is a clean bathroom for customers only. However, the prices are inexpensive, and you should treat yourself anyway! Seating inside is limited, but take advantage of the summer weather, and find a spot at one of the rustic wooden tables to the front and side of the building. There, you'll have a prime spot for relaxing and people watching! Stay awhile at the Bakery!

I just said to my husband that perhaps the location is why they are still in business because I'm not sure the food is. Our egg sandwiches were scrambled and perhaps microwaved? Strange texture. The croissant was over cooked and tasted just shy of burnt. The chocolate filled croissant was delicious and why I gave this place 3 stars instead of 2.

There is indoor and outdoor seating. All the outdoor tables have umbrellas. Dog friendly. You order and pay inside (tip: know your table number when you go to order). We tried two of their salads (Waldorf, southwest Cobb)... we enjoyed them all... very fresh, good sized. Got both of these on both trips in. The turkey BLT wrap was great! Parking - we parked in a lot behind the restaurant. Most people had to pay the meter but we had a handicap hangtag and the handicap spot was free. Would def recommend!

Boy, are there a lot of post-hike options in New Paltz. I stopped by here this past Saturday…read moreafternoon after an 8.7-mile hike in nearby Minnewaska State Park. The weather had been pretty mediocre throughout the day but that clearly hadn't stopped the tourists from invading the downtown area - the place was teeming with people when I came in around 3pmish. I didn't do a ton of research on potential eating spots (a lot of SE Asian eateries, which seemed kind of random?) but picked Lola's because it was a block or two from where I parked, and I immediately imprinted on the Short Rib Grilled Cheese when I saw it on the online menu. Decision made. Since it was starting to get a little nicer out, I would have liked a spot outside in the front patio. But the girl at the check-in (I feel like there's a much better term for that) asked me to go inside, which for sure was a bias against the fact that I was a solo diner. I get it in theory, but it's not fun to get treated like a second-class citizen because you don't have a posse with you in a tourist trap. Regardless, the interior was fine; looked like it had been redone within the last year or so; what it lacked in personality it made up for in terms of overall spiffiness (and the area where the personality DID come through was in the bathroom area, with tongue-in-check "Whatever" gender signs on the doors and edgy art by the sinks. Tell me you're a college town without telling me you're a college town.). The set-up in here is more casual than I assumed; I was told that my table was #10 (the numbers were clearly marked on each table, reminiscent of Smashburger), and that once I decided what I wanted, I needed to go up to the counter to order. Someone WOULD serve the food, but a big chunk of the experience is DIY. I ordered the aforementioned Short Rib Grilled Cheese w/ Fries, along with a Diet Pepsi, and waited. I thought this was pretty inefficient, as there were plenty of employees nearby who easily could have just taken my order at the table instead of having me sit down, then stand up and walk across the restaurant to order, and then sit back down. The wait was a little longer than I would have guessed, just given the straightforward order and casual, almost fast-food style to the business model; it took close to 20 minutes to get my sandwich, I'd guess. Not egregious, and there WERE a number of other customers on the premises as well. The Grilled Cheese was just okay - I tend to grade on a curve after a hike, but I thought it was really drippy/greasy, and I wasn't crazy about the tomato compote it came with (which is a personal palate preference and something that WAS specifically referenced on the menu and I didn't request its exclusion; easy to remove, regardless). The short ribs aspect was unsurprisingly the best part. The fries were decent; a little pale but cooked through. There was a pickle hidden underneath them that was a little emotionally upsetting but it is what it is. This was fine and could have been worse, but the next time I'm in town I'm going to keep walking down the street and trying one of the many other options nearby. The target demo for this feels a little more 2am college student than hungry hiker in the afternoon.

Grabbed a Grandma slice from Pasqualle's and a White slice with basil & balsamic drizzle from Rino's, plus some garlic knots because, well, Beast's gotta eat and I was hungry. Pasqualle's: Classic feel, decent crust, but sauce was a bit flat. Solid traditional slice, nothing wild. Rino's: Crust was the star -- nice crust crunch, well-made. Sauce was loose, slightly chunky, and garlicky. White slice had great balance with the balsamic drizzle. Garlic knots from Rino's: Super garlicky in the best way. Both places were clean and roomy, prices were fair. Service was very good. Verdict: Pasqualle's is traditional and safe. Rino's brings more flavor and flair -- and wins this round.

They also have a spacious dining area that, while barebones, is still comfortable if you don't want to take it out. For the kids, we got a couple plain slices and some chicken fingers (for the bipolar three year old who sometimes hates pizza). The chicken fingers weren't anything revolutionary, but they fried them well, just like they did the buffalo wings that my wife was craving. Those were super saucy, but nice and crisp. Reminiscent of Western New York, and that's a compliment. We were also feeling like we needed some greens in our life, so we added a chicken caesar salad. It was better than expected, and hit the spot. Overall, I think pizza is the best choice here (it's in the name after all), but they have some variety if you need more as well. All in all, a very solid place.

I found Karma Road on Yelp--a vegan cafe? Yes, please. It's a small cafe with a few tables inside as well as a few outside. When I arrived, the outdoor seating was full but there was a few tables available inside that were perfect for my needs (dining and working). It's an order at the counter set up. I knew I wanted a sandwich and was leaning toward an avocado sandwich they had on menu. The worker was excessively kind and welcoming. Upon hearing it was my first time there, they asked if I might like a recommendation. I mentioned I was thinking of getting a sandwich. They shared that they're favorite sandwich was the baked tofu. I asked if I could get it with avocado added, they enthusiastically recommended I do so! I did, and my goodness--that sandwich was outta this world. It was absolutely divine. It came with some cucumbers that were seasoned and seemed to have maybe a squeeze of citrus as well? I truly don't know what they had on them but what a simple yet absolutely astoundingly fresh and fabulous side. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or simply like good food--seriously, give this gem a shot. It is well worth the stop. Get to it!
