The Raymond & warm Brussels salad
    Brandi S.

If you're looking for a place for a nice date, or you want cocktails over delicious apps... this is your place. I decided to go with apps, and had the warm Brussels sprouts salad with butternut squash, pickled cranberries, and nuts with a drizzle of goat cheese. It was divine. I also had the arancini balls with spinach which were pretty good - loved the yuzu sauce that was on it, but felt a little bland without the zest. Huge app portions, too. I had two drinks - the Raymond and the holiday. The Raymond was so good - I don't usually go with bourbon but I felt like the harshness was dampened by the juice. The Holiday was a sweeter, chocolate-y drink... also out of this world. A little salty too... The drink portions are also solid.

My kid is graduating so I will now reveal the best restaurant in Poughkeepsie. (I never have to fight you people for reservations again!). Service is amazing! This is a small, elegant place. Great for a serious date, proposal, or important event in your lives (like celebrating your kids admission to this great university and/or their graduation). If you're taking your kid to Vassar, this is a must. Just had my second from last meal here. Branzino was great! My wife had the vegan shepherds pie, which she loved. And miracle upon miracle, they had ube crème brûlée! IYKYK. Great local beer selection. A lot of wines on the wine list for people who are into that.

A true farm-to-table experience! The Salt Line, tucked away at the Heartwood hotel, has an elegant atmosphere without feeling stuffy. Their promise of locally sourced ingredients shows up in each and every dish. I was blown away by the food. These are the kinds of dishes you go out for - complex, creative, and delicious. The Green Goddess salad was a standout, with impossibly crisp lettuce and a Gorgonzola dressing I'm still thinking about. I also had the House Made Rigatoni with truffle sauce, which was cooked to a perfect al dente. I added salmon, which was cooked brilliantly: a bold, peppery crust on the outside with a soft, beautifully tender interior. Finally, the garlic hummus was bursting with garlicy goodness, pairing well with the naan and dukkah. While our servers were very friendly and attentive, there were a few small fumbles, like needing to swap out a smudged wine glass. The ambiance also has some room to grow. The sticky floor, heavy/worn chairs, and sparse outdoor area were minor distractions from an otherwise lovely setting. Overall, I think The Salt Line is a fantastic restaurant that is close to being truly exceptional. Judging by past reviews vs. my actual experience, it seems receptive to feedback - I genuinely can't wait to return and see it live up to its incredible potential.

Everyone was super friendly, and I'll definitely be back to share these amazing desserts with some friends and family. Sorry all the desserts pictured already have bites taken out! Couldn't resist!

When we reached I asked them if they had anything left since the display looked empty. We bought one yuzu tart and one coffee/chocolate based tart. For the first time in my life non chocolate flavor was my first choice. It was soo delicious. I would definitely recommend this place and would surely go to try on the remaining desserts. People who worked there were nice too plus ambiance is very cute! Went there again the second time and trust me their desserts are exceptional. Great flavor, amazing desserts.

I got the soup dumplings which had a lack of depth. The broth had very little pork flavor and the fried shrimp dumplings were mostly filled with cabbage. To be honest I would've rather had frozen dumplings..There was nothing very authentic about these dumplings which I was disappointed by. I had to use a lot of soy sauce and chili oil because they were bland. The desserts are relatively small but my yuzu cheesecake had a WONDERFUL flavor. Very full of yuzu flavor. It seemed to contain actual zest and wasn't too sweet! The mochi was very very hard and wasn't chewy...don't get it. It was not good. The crepe cake looked and tasted homemade but had pretty thick crepe layers which gave it an off texture. My friend still enjoyed it for the balanced flavor.

Did I mention how clean it was? The server/cook and probably also the dishwasher was very sweet and attentive. I ordered the House Ramen and my wife picked the Chasu. Both were really delicious, not too salty or fatty and hot! I have had ramen in some place that could have used a microwave. As god as the Ramen were the pan fried House dumplings were amazing. I wish I had more room for another twelve. We're going back tomorrow !!
