Been here a bunch, never review because I'm usually on my way to or from baseball, basketball, lacrosse, or band. Food/Drink: Entrees are amazing, everything tasted fantastic. The flavors and the smells were intoxicating! Standard diner food and menu but all the dishes come out exquisite! Bread and Apps: plenty of starters for the table, mostly americano type stuff. Dinning Area: Large open area, wrap around large interior. Prices: Relatively cheap. Small and large appetizer, entree, sandwiches, dinners, breakfast, Greek, Italian, soups, and salads. I got away for $50 with my son and wife. Parking: Plenty of space, private lot. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were clean and large in size. Atmosphere: During the weekend lunch rush, pretty steady I think, but not unmanageable. I did not wait long. Staff/Attendants: Staff overall was Great, family owned and operated I presume. My husband said he regularly ate here when he lived to NY 20 yrs. It's a cute diner that looks like it straight out of the 1960s with checkered floors and Formica tables. UFO - Usual Forgettable Operation. Yes, this diner has a cute outer space theme, so maybe that's why the servers are kind of spacey too! A joint like this can't rely on the atmosphere, no matter how "out of this world" it is. You've got to have an attentive staff and great food to keep the humans coming back! I'm guessing they rely on the tourist to keep their business in orbit. The food is average, and the menu is too diverse. I think they'd fare better if they condensed the menu to offer authentic "diner" food and chose better quality staples, meats and dairy. Very quiet for a Friday night. Our waitress was very friendly, and attentive. However, she forgot to give me my salad as part of a take home order. The Clam Strips, and Buffalo Mozzarella Sticks are decent choices for appetizers. The chicken scampi was different, but probably something I wouldn't order again. So previous owners, food was "okay" nothing to brag about. But, new owners! I can see they are really trying to make a difference and make it good. I liked the minimal changes such as my burger tasting much better and seeming to be better quality. This is a good place if you really just want to stay cozy and close to home In pine bush. We dined here for the first time while meeting family members for a late Christmas get together. The food was pretty basic diner fare - nothing spectacular, but certainly not bad. Everything came out quickly, was hot, made as ordered. No complaints! My personal favorite aspect of our visit was our waitress, Shannon. She was delightful! Very patient and attentive. She checked on us often enough without being overbearing. Our 4 year old wanted pancakes and we asked if it would be possible to have them made silver dollar (ie small) for her. Not only did Shannon agree, she apparently asked the cook to make them in the shape of Mickey Mouse for her, and she was so excited over this little detail! I had the misfortune of stopping here a few days ago. I ordered a simple BLT. It was the worst sandwich i ever had. It consisted of 2 small pieces of iceberg lettuce 1 slice of tomato and 3 small pieces of bacon. Then to top it off it was crushed then cut down the middle instead of the diagonal. This was such a cozy, cool little diner with a UFO theme. We arrived today on our little Sunday trip upstate at around 11AM. OK... yes this is my second review for this disgusting establishment. All I can say is buyer beware before you come in here. My husband and I came in for late-night snack. The waitress was the rudest woman that I ever encountered probably in all my life. I understand she was busy, but we sat there for 20 minutes and we never even was asked if we wanted a refill on a coffee. When I asked for dessert, she at she told me to go up to the glass counter where the cakes were and look at the desserts myself. When my husband did that, again, it was 20 minutes with still no service. We finally just got up, went to the cashier, who happened to be the manager, who rudely told me to leave. Yes, we did not have to pay, however, that was not my intent. I intended to fully pay my bill and leave. Moral of the story: I vowed after my first review I would never come back. This is our local diner and it is a place I have eaten at many times. I have always had good service and good food. It's a great place for breakfast and has your typical wide ranging NY diner menu where you can find something for everyone for any meal. My buddy and I were in town and went to 3 different diners within a 1 hour vicinity of here and Barnside was HANDS DOWN the best. At cup and saucer our waitress was extremely crabby. Didn't smile the entire time, seemed irritated that we were even there. I asked for a glass of water just before we got the bill and never received it. But hey, she was plenty busy socializing with her coworkers and some other customers. The food was just ok & underseasoned. Price is fair I guess consider portion size is filling. Use to live in Pine Bush and are here on average once a week. Then I would have given it 4-5 stars for what it is, a diner. Last week went there for first time in almost four years and it was bad..... Cup of soup is about 1/2 the size it use to be, portion maybe a bit smaller prices 40% or more higher and taste below average. Service was OK but but "tired" is the best way I can put it. There also seemed to be less then 1/2 the amount of customers there use to be. A lesson learned........... read more
