Ranchero Wrap - A wrap sandwich filled with lettuce, meat, and sauce, served with a side of French fries in a white takeout container.

I ordered a couple meals from the Colonial diner and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. They packed in plenty of cutlery and sides (coke slaw and pickles) to accompany our meals. The food was packaged perfectly and was ready within 15 minutes after ordering.

Boiled tilapia - A square white plate holds grilled fish topped with chopped nuts, lemon wedges, green beans with red peppers, and toasted bread slices, served with butter and condiments.

The place looks nice the average diner look, not too busy. My server is very sweet, you don't get that kindness much these days. The split pea soup was ok, it had small chunks on ham and the croutons tasted good. Broiled fillet of flounder was soggy and salty. The baked potato was good but they gave me margarine instead of butter. The string beans and red pepper were well cooked. The staff so nice and friendly so don't get me wrong this place is nice I just won't get fish ever again.

Breakfast was amazing. Everything seasoned perfectly. Customer service was great. Not a buys diner had lots of parking available - A breakfast setting at a diner with two plates of food, coffee, and tea on a table, with utensils and condiments.

Great breakfast place. Place is clean, service is fast, portions are plentiful And the menu is simple and straightforward. Even the coffee was decent in terms of diner coffee. I would have breakfast here again.

Matzoh ball soup - A white bowl contains clear broth with a large, round matzoh ball in the center, placed on a textured surface.

The Colonial Diner is a classic diner on Dolson Ave in Middletown. I might even say that it is one of my favorite diners in Middletown! It has its own parking lot and plenty of seating on the inside. The menu is extensive and the staff is always friendly. Some of the items that I recommend is their soup or their rice pudding. It's seriously that good.

Oak & Reed - Chicken & Waffles

Oak & Reed

I've always loved Oak & Reed for dinner and brunch but now trying them for breakfast new love…read moreunlocked. The breakfast was simple but then of course Oak & Reed throws in their flair. The eggs were perfectly cooked soft and buttery. And the sour dough toast with that perfect sour dough tang was the perfect edition. Even the coffee in the French press takes the coffee to another level. But talking about Oak & Reed flair the signature waffle was possibly one of the best things I have eaten. The waffle with that pearl sugar is the way a waffle should be made but then they have that waffle filled with Dutch caramel and that mascarpone on top is perfect. The tang, sweetness, butteriness, the crisp yet fluffy waffle it all was an equation for an amazing breakfast item. I could eat that every time I go. Truly amazing. The staff in Oak & Reed is always amazing attentive and kind. Live the open kitchen concept. Especially with my two year old currently in a Ratatouille kick so she wanted to see the chefs while she looked for Remy cooking. All in all Oak & Reed never disappoints.

Unfortunately I have to say this place was just meh!…read more This is one of my friends favorite restaurant, she even wanted to have them cater her wedding. So I was excited when we finally got a chance to try it. And here is where it may have been my fault, maybe I hyped it up too much. So the funny thing when we arrived at the restaurant and I saw another friend. She told me it was her first time and it wasn't good (this was a warning!) she said especially the chicken and waffles. So again maybe it's my fault because I didn't listen. My heart was set on the chicken and waffles and she was right. It was not good. Like how do you mess up chicken and waffles? It was lacking all types of flavor. It was bad. Why 3 stars than? Because their Spicy Pork Congee was amazing! It's an Asian rice dish and everything that lacked flavor in the chicken and waffles was made up in this dish. The problem? This is only an appetizer. It needs to be an entree, which would mean making it a larger portion. It was fantastic! They also had a decent beer selection which we got. The inside of the restaurant is cute. It has so much potential I just think maybe a revamp of the recipes. But maybe another dish would be good. We came for brunch so I don't know how their dinner menu is. I will probably give them another chance because how amazing the congee was I know they have potential to be great.

Altho their Rueben gave me French dressing on the sour kraut and not thousand island. The pastrami had a sour taste alone. I had corned beef one before in the past and this wasn't the same.it was great. So I won't be ordering the Rueben anymore because it doesn't have French dressing unless the waiter who spoke broken English got confused and served it on the side not knowing the difference between thousand island and French dressing. I general all foods are good and a good size serving. My fav waitress is Karen. She comes out with the extra napkins steak sauce before you even have to ask. She's pleasant and dresses very nice.where as other waitresses don't have that polished look in clothes. I'm a stickler for long hair dangling about in food service as I used to cook for Marriott upstate ny. The rules were hat or hairnet and long hair tied back so it doesn't fly in food. Goshen diner has a vast variety of foods. Mexican Italian Greek many types of entrees vegetarian and all are good. Only once my Rueben wasn't up to par. They will accommodate you to make you happy. Must try the desserts they have a new baker and it's nice to see lemon things.they have a nice variety of teas as well so don't forget that you tea drinkers. It's clean and beautiful in there. I feel weird take pics of food but believe me it's dished very nice
