On my first review, I was just coming through for a quick bite. (Text: I was actually going to stop at the Italian place next door, since I'm not a big fan of diners, but I saw about 3 cars there and about 103 cars here, so I went with the popular choice. Glad I did.) Although I only had the souvlaki the first time, I noted friendly and attentive service by all, including the manager. The food came out fairly quickly given that I arrived during the peak lunch hour. The pita was the best pita I have ever eaten. The fries were up there with the best fries I have ever eaten. There was plenty of food for my money overall, and it was memorably delicious. So for this update, I finally went in for a full meal. I can offer the following updates: * I went during the dinner peak this time (I should say: just after a Hudson Valley Renegades game across the river), and service was MUCH slower to attend to us. Now, to be fair, I arrived with one person and we were waiting on a third, so I didn't expect them to rush to take or order until the third person arrived... but at least bring us water? Took like 15 minutes for that. * Shrimp pasta was delicious. But if you're smothering shrimp in sauce, please de-shell? Otherwise serve them on the side so I can do that myself. Annoying to have to sift through the sauce and clean my hands. * They did sub in pasta of my choice. * Carrot soup was OK, nothing special but it was the soup of the day vs. just a plain salad for my veggies. Desserts were on display but I was stuffed. Again, you will get plenty of food here. But try not to come at the same time as /everyone/ else. read more

Some of the entrées look like they came from Restaurant Depot down the block. Not bad, just OK. The crabcakes didn't have much crab flavor. But for the price you can't complain. On our way to a baseball game and a quick stop at Alexis's diner for breakfast was worth it. The broccoli cheese omelette was perfect and the seasoned potatoes alongside it made for a great plate of goodness. And imagine my surprised to see that Italian rainbow cookies actually made into a cake. The owner mentioned someone had previously requested it for their wedding cake and after I tried it, I can't imagine why they wouldn't have. The Alexis Diner is conveniently located right off I-84--can't miss the classic diner shape and glowing lights at night. There was lots of parking available too. We came at a less busy time and were seated promptly. Our server was quite friendly. After much deliberation, I ordered the baked pastichio ($18.95) which consisted of macaroni and ground beef with béchamel sauce. I'd never eaten this dish before, but it was kind of lackluster and needed more pep. But the Greek side salad that came with it was more impressive, with generous amounts of feta, a stuffed grape leaf, and anchovies, though the dressing was on the oilier side. read more

I've been to a lot of diners and this one was pretty disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the food was ok. Just average diner food. I got the Rueben which I feel could've been a little better, and a soup, which was very very bland. I love soup, I eat it every where I go, and I even make a variety of soup myself. What got me was where we got seated. They put us near the walkway to the bathroom, and it smelled so bad. Every time someone would walk by from the bathroom this rancid smell of sewer and cleaning chemicals would trail behind them. The bathroom smelled so bad, I went to wash my hand and it almost ruined my appetite. I think if it wasn't for the bathroom experience, I would have given maybe another star. read more

Stopped by Alexis Diner at 10pm on a Wednesday. Our server Kayla was very kind and accommodating, offered good recommendations and provided overall amazing service. The diner is bright and has a nice homey vibe at this hour. We ordered the broccoli cream soup with cheddar cheese which is nice and mild. Next was the Ultimate Snack Platter, I think the mozzarella sticks were the star of this dish and I've eaten plenty of these elsewhere. I have never had a bad meal or experience at Alexis Diner. It's classic and never gets old. I love this place!

The food here is AWFUL. Maybe if they cut the menu down from a thousand offerings in six cuisines, they'd be able to cook something right. I ordered eggs benedict and a side of corned beef hash. The eggs were overcooked, so not at all runny. The hollandaise sauce was sparse and tasteless. The "canadian bacon" (or whatever it was) was so thick and dry (not to mention unevenly cut) that it was hard to eat and dominated the dish. And the corned beef hash was too salty. My wife had the nachos supreme. She said it was tasteless. How do you make tasteless nachos?! What an incredible waste of money! read more

First and last time I will ever go to this diner. There wasn't one courteous employee there. They were impatient, rude and could care less about making our experience a pleasant one. Food is grossly overpriced. Took my daughter to the bathroom to find one stall with no toilet paper in it, another with toilet paper all over the seat, another with a clogged toilet and the handicap stall had feces smeared on the wall. Decided to go back for dinner after the food was so delicious a week ago...this time not a good experience! The waitress was fairly good. There were 2 orders of chicken & waffles but the meals had to be sent back due to the waffles being cold! The waitress said she would have the kitchen warm up our food but when she returned she said they made us brand new waffles. Something about the waffles were off & I didn't finish that meal. This is a popular diner for locals and tourists. We were tourists and grabbed a bite to eat before traveling back home. Although a long line, the wait time was surprisingly manageable. This is a big establishment and have fast service. The service was amazing and accommodated to our needs. There was cool murals displayed on the walls. My Buffalo Chicken Panini was delicious and filling. The Onion rings were tasty. Chicken Cordon Blue Wrap - really good as well. The portion sizes are big enough to take home for leftovers. Another stop for lunch on our road trip. I have eaten here a few times before and it's our go to diner in the area. The menu is vast, the service is great and the desserts looking so spectacular from the glass cases. I ordered the cream of mushroom soup and the roast chicken dinner. My dining mate ordered the tuna melt and fries. The food is plentiful, plated nicely and came out hot. My soup was good but I had better mushroom soup elsewhere. One of the best diners around; always a hot delicious meal! Service was good, they were packed and the waitress was hustling, at times it was hard to get their attention but nothing too bad. Not many diners can actually make a medium rare triple decker cooked to perfection with a side of onion rings ($). The cheese fries and gravy were not what we expected; but they were good, but we're used to the gravy bring on top of the fries. We got seated in the main dining room and it was a very nice spacious atmosphere . The Italian artwork & decor gave more of a nice restaurant feel . The special plates they serve the food on also granted such a lovely presentation . You will not leave hungry and the food was absolutely delicious !!! Of course we had to take home desserts, which you must not pass up !! Our very tall son ordered two appetizers, a burger platter and had a slice of chocolate mousse cake with a big glass of milk . I'm not typically someone who writes a same day review, but I didn't want to forget about the details of my visit @ Alexis Diner. Firstly, we waited forever. Like... about 30 minutes for two burgers and a Turkey sandwich, and I was REALLLLY worried that the food was going to come out and the fries were going to be cold (IMO, that's probably the worst thing that could ever happen to me in a restaurant; cold fries) but the wait was the only downside of our experience. Food came out and WOW these plates were HUGE and the fries OH MY GOSHHH. Smaller steak fries, which I'm not normally a fan of, but they were hot and hit the spot just right. The Turkey and Swiss melt was as big as my face, and my parents burgers were cooked to perfection and just as huge. Pickles bordered on cucumbers and the cole slaw was a little watery, but overall the main food was absolutely banging. Like I said, I'm not one to write a same day review, but we got out to the parking lot to leave and I just felt myself being like "dang, that was a good meal." Staff was busy, but extremely pleasant. Took a bit to get back to us some waters, but I could tell they were busy, so that's okay in my book.
