Let's start by saying ; I don't particularly like dinners!! Under duress I found myself sitting at the Yankee Clipper Diner in Beacon. The service was fantastic , with our smiling, profesional waiter Jarred. The restaurant is really the old old fashion dinner. The food served promptly, was pipping hot, delicious and copious. They come around for coffee refill or water very often. I had the Pastrami Ruben, quite the feast. My husband had the Patty melt, served rare as asked. Both came with an enormous amount of fries. The place is clean, spacious and bright. A positive experience!!!

Decent American diner food. Staff was helpful and friendly. Prices were quite good (3 entrees were under $60 after tax and tip). We ordered the California burger, Spinach Potato wrap and Creamy potato soup. Both the burger and wrap were fine but the soup was a bit too salty for our taste. Otherwise, it was a positive dining experience.

Pancakes and scrambled eggs

I was in the neighborhood and wanted some breakfast so I stopped by Yankee Clipper Diner. It looked like a cool spot to eat at. I ordered some pancakes, eggs and toast.. The pancakes were definitely delicious. I'd get them again. The scrambled eggs were.. meh.. more like a plain omelet.. Flat.. A bit burnt too. I personally think scrambled eggs should be fluffy and not burnt. Anyway, the pancakes tasted great along with the maple syrup which makes a huge difference! If the eggs were done right I'd give them a 5 rating. The service was excellent! Waiter was very accommodating and attentive. Great attitude. Always a plus. As far as ambiance, it's a nice, clean, classic/vintage looking Diner, people and families enjoying their meals while conversing. No loud music. Just a very nice vibe. In the end, if you're looking for a nice diner to grab a bite this is a great choice! Have a good one yall! -Ray

A busy Friday evening but seated right away with a party of 6. The food was delicious as always. Our waiter was great & very attentive. You are always greeted soon as you walk in. Nice size portions & reasonable prices! Found parking right in front but there is a parking lot behind as well. Located right on Main st to enjoy a walk before or after visiting this wonderful restaurant!

We walked Main St. Beacon and felt like ice cream. There's a big difference between an ice cream chain and a good diner, besides the glassware and silverware they use. We were near the diner, and thought we'd try it out. This place is a classic diner. We were given menus, but didn't notice any deserts or ice cream. We asked our waiter, Jarred, if there was a dessert menu? In a moment he brought ones over. She had the classic ice cream sundae, like the one's they served in Jahn's near Fordham Road in the Bronx. Ah, the memories it brought back. There's a typical menu and cocktails. The trendy places along Main St. come and go. This place will live on!

Salisbury steak

Straight up, I love a good old diner. Yankee clipper is one of the oldest standing restaurants in Beacon. We were craving classic Americana. Also not too surprisingly, many diners are Greek owned, as is this one, and there is a Greek section on the menu. Decided to stick with classics got Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. Also got the burger. Both dishes came with choice of salad or soup . We got the salad to start. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance is very much old school Formica counters and pleather booths etc. To the food, felt like both the burger and the Salisbury were made from the same mix. I asked for the burger on the rare side. Was sort of hard to tell by color because it was surprisingly not pink or reddish but the texture was definitely on the softer side as a more rare burger should be. The Salisbury looked better than it tasted . It is essentially a well done hamburger with gravy on top. The burger meat was not seasoned. Neither was my burger patty. The texture of the burger was good and the fries were brown and not overcooked . For roughly $25 each all in , it's not a bad price but there are so many places to choose from nearby , I would look for other burger joints if that's what you're after. 3 stars for food and 4 for nostalgia.

RECEIPT

How SAD... I find the Yankee Clipper Diner in Beacon NY ... The service has changed.... ("NOT FOR THE BETTER") The service was ("ATROCIOUS") maybe because I arrived after 7:30 pm. The waitress by the name Lisa? She was very ("ANNOYED") Lisa was asked to take my order. From the start she was very short with me. I tried too overlook the ("POOR Attitude Lisa displayed...") The food was ("POORLY SERVED") FOOD WAS ("UNAPPETIZING") DID NOT TASTE GOOD. I had paid in advance. I have pictures... I spoke to the owner or manager ("HE COULDN'T CARE LESS ") HIS ATTITUDE WAS POOR AS WELL. One can plainly understand why the waitress acts this way. The influence, the attitudes, and actions of restaurant server can depend on management. Management must not care due to the volume of people in and out. This does not mean that it's quality or good. I don't CARE if the diner receives five stars.... NOT GOOD

My fabulous patty melt

This diner is so adorable, I had to stop in! It's very retro looking and the menu was expensive, just as I had hoped for. I was in the mood for a burger so I ordered a Swiss patty melt with the Caesar salad on the side and my friend ordered a cheeseburger with a side salad. The burgers were quite delicious with a charcoal boil taste! My patty melt was perfect and nicely toasted rye bread that was grilled in butter, so delicious! Both of us were so happy we had stopped in! Our waitress was so adorable, really friendly and very patient with our questions. I love everything about this meal! I will definitely be back! I love a good diner and this is it!

The atmosphere is very fun and retro diner vibes all the way. Service was attentive and quick. Oreo pancakes were fine. Eggs Benedict was good and the hash was delicious. The breakfast burrito was fresh but lacking in flavor (I got avocado in it which was great).

Vibe: 7.5/10 Service: 8/10 Value: 8/10 Pancakes deluxe: 6.5/10 Veggie omelette (egg whites): 8/10 - also loved the potatoes and classic buttered toast! Steak and eggs: 7.2/10 - steak a little overcooked Overall: 7.53/10 (3.77/5) [To clarify our review system: 10 = we'll never have anything else as good as this in our lives (we use 10 very sparingly!) 9 = extraordinary 8 = great 7 = above average 6 = average Anything below 6 is being critical]

We were walking thru Beacon. I love their Main Street. Looking at the different restaurants. Galleries. It had a bohemian feel We want ice cream. So we came to this diner for it. Looking at the menu. We didn't see anything from ice cream or milkshakes. We asked and our server Jarret informed us if a separate desert menu. I am ordering the sundae. Please no walnuts. He brought the sundae with extra cherries. and extra whipped cream it was delicious

This was my second trip to this classic style diner, where breakfast is served all day. I ordered the Copenhagen eggs Benedict, cornbeef hash on an English muffin topped with a poached egg and topped with hollandaise sauce. I appreciate the server asking would I like the hash crispy or not. Same question to my wife about her bacon. Most restaurants never ask how you want your corn, beef, hash, or bacon. The breakfast was delicious. I'll be making a few more trips to this eclectic diner.

But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.

We shared the Butter and Blue salad, really well done. The fusilli Ferretto with lamb ragu was one of the best meals I've had in months. The homemade pasta was al dente and the lamb ragu was fragrant and meaty and rich. Perfect on a particularly cold evening. Liz had the sea bass and raved about it. We shared a bottle of Madonna Dell Donno Barolo wine which was probably not the best choice for the sea bass but was an outstanding match for the lamb ragu. The cocktails and dessert were also perfectly done!

He will fill you with his wealth of knowledge of Sri Lankan food as well as how his food is pure and wholesome. Food was very good. I had Sri Lankan rice entree specialty dish. Except for the the shrimp tasting like dried shrimp - which I hate with a passion the rest of the dish was pretty good. No complaints from my other guests who enjoyed their meals. The dessert was great. They have both vegetarian (including goat, beef, pork, shrimp, squid, and chicken) and non-vegetarian options. It fell short of five stars for two reasons: 1. the dried shrimp or dried fish taste in the dish (shimp, calamari, and chicken); and 2. the moderately high prices (I can only compare to prices at Indian restaurants in the city, and what people are typically paying for the same portion size at casual sit down restaurants) Since we don't frequent this location often it is a treat to stop by every once in awhile and introduce my friends to it. If you are on a budget and consume large volumes of food to be full, this is most likely a one off or a place you may want to skip. Otherwise, enjoy it. On premise parking lot and seems ADA compliant. It looks like it is in a house, but inside it is comfortable and casual. It appears there is allot more local customers than visitors from out of town. The interior plays tourist information on Sri Lanka while the interior is also decorated in culturally appropriate ascents. We were there on a Saturday for dinner and the space was fairly empty - perhaps two other tables occupied. It is in sort of a remote area outside the main drag of Beacon most are familiar with (not within reasonable walking distance). It's worth a try, especially if you are interested in healthier forms of food (ingredients).

And trust me when the weather is nice this place is packed!!!! The food here is delicious. In the warmer months they have a pizza food truck that comes. The pizza is sooo good my favorite is one they sell that has a white sauce on it instead of marinara it is delicious. The brewery itself makes small bites and has a few sandwiches that come with a bag of potato chips. They are also good. Last time we came our friends got the meatball sub and it was huge!!! They said it was amazing. They have a great selection of beers including IPAs, Stouts, Sours, and Ciders. I will say this brewery is what kindled my love for Sour beers. They have one that tastes like a red Starburst, so yummy! They also have non alcoholic beer and spirits on their menu. The staff is also friendly. I have seen them frazzled a time or two when it's really busy which is understandable. All in all it's good service both bar tenders and other staff that is working hard cleaning up tables ams sweeping to make sure the tables are ready for the next round of people. Also to note this is not table service. You go to the bar and order your food and either pay there or open a tab. They then bring out your food to you. You can also get beers to take home and other merchandise such as shirts, jackets, and some packaged food items. It very family friendly! Every time I come I see tons of families here, which is nice. Hudson Valley awaits at the end of Beacon's Main Street, a fitting finale to a day spent ducking in and out of shops. Its wide open spaces and available sitting is a welcome sight for sore feet. Its diverse array of drinks, from wines to beers to sours, will quench any type of thirst. My drink of choice are their sours, and as someone who previously did not like these kinds of drinks, I was thoroughly converted. Perfect for people who don't like beers, their sours are berry-forward with a tartness that cuts through the sweet flavors. It's so good, I even lugged a six-pack home all the way to the train and back to the city! You simply cannot visit Hudson Valley Brewery without trying their pizza. It's one of my favorites. Cooked in an outdoor brick oven, their pizzas are charred to perfection; their crust thin yet provides a satisfying substantial bite; and their pie topped with ooey gooey cheese. Although I don't doubt that anything you order will be delicious, I have tried their sausage and pepper pizza, as well as their margherita, and can attest to how delicious they are. When we finally got her attention, she just told us "someone will bring it to you soon," when she literally could've just grabbed a few and hand them to us. At this point we were about to leave, but stayed because we were all starving. This happened throughout our meal, we had to ask for water and cups multiple times and even got dirty plates sent to us, which we then asked if we could get newer ones. Not sure if it was because we were the only POC in the room, but we felt like this treatment was targeted specifically at us since everyone else in the place was attended to in a timely, friendly manner.
