Large portion diner food in a diner setting -- the food was everything you'd expect, not gourmet but still well made and tasty. Our server, Irma, was an absolute gem! She was super sweet, helpful with menu recommendations and no pressure. We loved her! On a recent trip to the Hudson Valley, stopped by for breakfast w best friend, Pots & Pans, AKA Stumbleweed. Full disclosure, I am a huge Yankee fan, having grown up just north of the stadium (and P&P is a closet Yankee fan), so the name helped. Free parking on Main St, and a generous lot in the back. The service was fantastic , with our smiling, profesional waiter Jarred. The restaurant is really the old old fashion dinner. The food served promptly, was pipping hot, delicious and copious. They come around for coffee refill or water very often. I had the Pastrami Ruben, quite the feast. My husband had the Patty melt, served rare as asked. Both came with an enormous amount of fries. I was in the neighborhood and wanted some breakfast so I stopped by Yankee Clipper Diner. It looked like a cool spot to eat at. I ordered some pancakes, eggs and toast.. The pancakes were definitely delicious. I'd get them again. The scrambled eggs were.. meh.. more like a plain omelet.. Flat.. A bit burnt too. I personally think scrambled eggs should be fluffy and not burnt. Anyway, the pancakes tasted great along with the maple syrup which makes a huge difference! If the eggs were done right I'd give them a 5 rating. The service was excellent! Waiter was very accommodating and attentive. Great attitude. Always a plus. Enjoyed breakfast this morning at the Yankee Clipper. Service was excellent. Table ordered a short stack of blueberry pancakes, short stack of french toast, side of sausage links and coffee. We walked Main St. Beacon and felt like ice cream. There's a big difference between an ice cream chain and a good diner, besides the glassware and silverware they use. We were near the diner, and thought we'd try it out. This place is a classic diner. We were given menus, but didn't notice any deserts or ice cream. We asked our waiter, Jarred, if there was a dessert menu? In a moment he brought ones over. She had the classic ice cream sundae, like the one's they served in Jahn's near Fordham Road in the Bronx. Hunger called, and we unfortunately ended up here. We were in Beacon to meet up with some friends for afternoon drinks, and the Yankee Clipper was the closest spot to where we were, so in we went. Pretty average diner interior, so we were digging the vibes, but the food was not good. The Greek salad (aren't these usually supposed to be the sine qua nons of all diners everywhere??) was terrible. for almost $20, it had TWO grape leaves with rice and maybe a few cucumbers. The rest was just leaves served with a watered down dressing--such as disappointment. What was most unbelievable is that it had kalamata olives WITH pits inside, of which there was no warning about, so somebody could have cracked tooth. A lawsuit waiting to happen! The gyro plate wasn't much better since the wrap had practically no sauce and was dry as hell. Fries were decent we guess, so there's that. The only reason we're not giving this place two stars is because our server was friendly enough, but we really would not recommend going here. We didn't have the time or energy to dig around to find a better restaurant, but surely there must be plenty in Beacon. 2.5 stars, rounding up. read more

Straight up, I love a good old diner. Yankee clipper is one of the oldest standing restaurants in Beacon. We were craving classic Americana. Also not too surprisingly, many diners are Greek owned, as is this one, and there is a Greek section on the menu. Decided to stick with classics got Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy. Also got the burger. Both dishes came with choice of salad or soup . We got the salad to start. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance is very much old school Formica counters and pleather booths etc. To the food, felt like both the burger and the Salisbury were made from the same mix. I asked for the burger on the rare side. Was sort of hard to tell by color because it was surprisingly not pink or reddish but the texture was definitely on the softer side as a more rare burger should be. The Salisbury looked better than it tasted . It is essentially a well done hamburger with gravy on top. The burger meat was not seasoned. Neither was my burger patty. The texture of the burger was good and the fries were brown and not overcooked . For roughly $25 each all in , it's not a bad price but there are so many places to choose from nearby , I would look for other burger joints if that's what you're after. 3 stars for food and 4 for nostalgia. read more

This diner is so adorable, I had to stop in! It's very retro looking and the menu was expensive, just as I had hoped for. I was in the mood for a burger so I ordered a Swiss patty melt with the Caesar salad on the side and my friend ordered a cheeseburger with a side salad. The burgers were quite delicious with a charcoal boil taste! My patty melt was perfect and nicely toasted rye bread that was grilled in butter, so delicious! I was running late for work and decided to stop here to get a bacon, egg sandwich on a roll, when i got to the job ready to eat my sandwich took one bite the bacon was crumble in pieces look like they scrap the left over and threw it on bun, i took it back explain to the cashier or manager she didn't even apologize or offer to give me another sandwich i asked for my money back when she got the money out of the cash register I extended my hand to take the money she put it on the counter. This was my second trip to this classic style diner, where breakfast is served all day. I ordered the Copenhagen eggs Benedict, cornbeef hash on an English muffin topped with a poached egg and topped with hollandaise sauce. I appreciate the server asking would I like the hash crispy or not. Same question to my wife about her bacon. Most restaurants never ask how you want your corn, beef, hash, or bacon. I love the Yankee Clipper. And I moved up to the area about three years ago from New Jersey, which has the most diners out of any state in the US. So I know my diners! I go to the Yankee Clipper by myself a lot, often with a book, as a treat to just take a leisurely meal and have some peace. I've also taken friends and family members from out of town. I've also brought friends and small groups. Everyone's been happy. Their burgers are great -- I've had beef, turkey and veggie, and enjoyed them all. I think one reviewer said they didn't enjoy their fries; it must've been an off day, because their fries are amazing (just ask my gall bladder!). That includes their sweet potato fries, which usually comes with a side of honey mustard. Their salads are fresh and delicious; their Cobb Salad can feed at least two people or be taken home as an extra meal. Every server I've interacted with since I moved up here has been absolutely lovely. They check in, but don't rush; refills of water, coffee, soda, tea, whatever you're drinking, appear just when you need them. There can be a line on the weekends, especially around brunch/lunch time. Lisa, our waitress was terrific, very friendly and informative. we were passing through on our way to MA and stopped here for a quick dinner. i had THE BEST tomato rice soup I've ever had (and I'm 86) My wife had a vegetable omelette that was amazing. The diner was established in 1946 and it's a Beacon favorite. It has classic recipes taking it back to the good old days. It's a good size diner with a good amount of inside seating. We were able to get a table right away on a Monday afternoon and I'm sure this place is slammed on the weekends. I got the chicken parmigiana meatball special on top of spaghetti with a chicken noodle soup to start off with. You can't never have enough noodles. The chicken noodle soup was comforting. The pasta dish had the right amount of flavor and I couldn't even finish half of it. The chicken and meatball combination went well together. Our waitress was down to earth and did a great job with taking our order. Everything came out quickly and the staff cleaned off the table when needed as well as refilling our drinks. Fantastic place and the home of my fav breakfast sandwich. YES! The portobello spinach wrap there is THAT good. Their gluten free wraps are incredible and really compliment everything. I get it with feta cheese instead of mozz and a lil hot sauce mixed in....yum! I live three hours away and crave that wrap often. Luckily I'm in Beacon a few times a year and no matter what time of day it is, the Yankee Clipper Diner is my first stop. My order never changes and the wrap never fails. Tasted good until I took a bite out of a plastic shard inside of my pasta dish. The waitstaff was pretty good and the food came in a timely manner. Portions are much bigger than NYC portions so if your eyes are bigger than your stomach (like me) I would order one dish per person instead of an extra dish to share! The place definitely looks like a diner and has common things you would find at your local diner. Pricing is very affordable if you are going for a quick bite after a hike. I would have rated this 4/5 if I hadn't found that plastic shard in my food. At first I thought it was a stem of a sundried tomato and I kept chewing it like no big deal but it pricked my tongue hard and so I took it out and found that it wasn't a dried stem...
