The whitewashed brick walls trimmed in blue, gorgeous bar as you walk in, and those charming bistro chairs set the tone for a cozy but polished night. I stopped in for dinner with a colleague during a work trip, and it was the perfect spot to unwind. The Old Fashioneds and pierogies did not disappoint. During our trip we came here for dinner. We got a few drinks and ordered the steak frites, sea bass and a biscuit. The steak was cooked right and tasted good with the chimichurri over it, unlike the steak I got from Punta Morada in Islamorada, FL. The sea bass was also good and flavorful. As for the biscuit with the honey butter, it was very good even though the first one we ordered came out very burnt on the bottom and when I was looking at it the waitress came by and switched it out. I've been to Lyonshare a few times now; twice for date night, so just the two of us, and once with a group for weekend brunch. I'm a fan! First, I think I enjoyed being there with just one other person (or perhaps a small group up to 4?) to be able to hear each other. Lyonshare is popular already, so it's usually pretty full and the acoustics are pretty acoustic...y... A favorite of ours is the burger -- I know it's funny to lift up a burger, but when it's a really good burger, you lift her up! The mac 'n cheese is rich and comforting; I'm not a huge thyme fan, and the breadcrumbs on the top are flavored with thyme, so less of a fave. But if you're into that flavor you will dig this. At brunch, we had a whole bunch of different things -- the Beacon Benedict was a big hit, as was the biscuits and gravy and avocado toast. Someone at the table next to ours got the ricotta toast, and when I politely exclaimed, "OOOH, WHAT'S THAT?" the person told me and said it was delicious. Everyone who works there is lovely, especially the folks who greet you -- whether the person/hostex at the front who checks your reservation the person behind the bar or any of the servers and food bearers -- the atmosphere is really comfortable and warm. Had high expecations after reading the reviews and seeing the menu. Love the bar area ambiance, old school and welcoming. Great bartender & happy hour too. Food was hit or miss. Appetizer of mussels was large but overwhelmingly fishy, wife couldn't eat them, kinda gross. Steak Frites special was culotte and it was virtually impossible to cut, super chewy and frites seemed like a frozen product. Chimichurri was the only good part. So I've been wanting to try this place since it first came on the scene. It use to be a place run locally so didn't know what to expect. it was completely different from what I expected but in a good way. The owner is an absolute gem. The staff, are a bunch of sweethearts. The best way to describe it, I would say is it reminds me a spot you find in the city. It works for it's a date night, a girls night, or just a group friends. Make reservations in advance though, for the weekends. It's warm and inviting, but there's an upscale essence that exists. The dish, is just perfection. I was hesitant at first, debating whether it would be filling without your typical starch element, but it was just that. The bass that I had played well off of the anise and the dill. Oh, and the bar selection is extensive. Plenty of options to choose from but the ancient mariner is my personal favorite. I love sweet drinks. This is sweet but balanced. My husband and I visited Lyonshare on Valentine's Day and we had an excellent early dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and the host was very welcoming. We started with the oysters and pierogi, and both were excellent. Our half dozen order included oysters from Nova Scotia, Massachusetts and Virginia, and they all tasted very fresh. The pierogi were elevated with a creamy sauce that was beyond delicious. The Madame Brett cocktail was really refreshing and the thyme flavor came through strongly. The fried chicken was really good and the biscuit that comes with it blew us away. It was the best biscuit I've ever had and my husband who doesn't even like biscuits loved it. The gnocchi was also really good. The order was a little small but it was just enough to share with the fried chicken. We ended with a special Valentine's Day dessert that was fabulous. I've probably dined at Lyonshare no less than a dozen times this year. I am smitten! I tell everyone I know about it. I recently had dinner and am really loving the new winter menu. The sea bass is perfectly prepared. My dining companion ordered it as well and remarked that she never eats the fish skin, but this is so delicious she had to! As always, the biscuits are my absolute favorite menu item. I can honestly say this is the greatest biscuit of my life, which is really saying something given that I'm from the South. I also love the curation and taste in music. It's not often that a restaurant gets both the food and the music so perfectly attuned to the time of day and service. We came a on summer monday evening and got seated 20 minutes before the kitchen closes at 9pm. Our food surprisingly came only 10 minutes after our order was put in. The chicken was amazing, juicy on the inside crispy on the outside without the batter being too thick crusty or filling. It felt pan fried rather than dropped in a vat of oil. The biscuit was thick fluffy enormous and went well with the creamed honey butter. Everything paired well and the cole slaw helped cut through the richness of the other parts of the dish. The pierogis were mild in flavor compared the Chinese dumplings or pan fried gyoza. It was pillow savory and light. I cared more for the picked onions and onion remoulade they were sitting on, than the classic filling but it's a good pick if you're hungry and looking to fill up on something starchy. The best but not the last dish is the sea bass, two filets encircled with lightly dressed vegetables. I added pickled red onions to balance out the olives. The parsley tapenade is by the far the most delicious part. As essential as the sauce is for baked escargot. Well worth it! And finally, the cookie skillet dessert the size of the palm of my hand. Take it with traditional vanilla bean, chocolate or mint chip. An all American hot and cold treat like this never disappoints! First off, our bartender Taylor was just amazing. She knew the menu cold and had a very nice way about her. The food and atmosphere here were excellent. We shared the Butter and Blue salad, really well done. The fusilli Ferretto with lamb ragu was one of the best meals I've had in months. The homemade pasta was al dente and the lamb ragu was fragrant and meaty and rich. Perfect on a particularly cold evening. Liz had the sea bass and raved about it. We shared a bottle of Madonna Dell Donno Barolo wine which was probably not the best choice for the sea bass but was an outstanding match for the lamb ragu. This is the date night, adult dining experience Beacon has been missing! I have two kids and I appreciate a family friendly restaurant as much as any parent. But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. First time in Beacon and was looking for a place to have dinner. We saw this place that had a cozy and romantic, yet casual atmosphere. We didn't have a reservation and they initially told us they had no tables available. Luckily, we ended up sitting at the bar. The bartenders were so lovely and welcoming. They were knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We shared the biscuits and pierogies as appetizers. The pierogies were delicious, but the biscuits stole the show. They were buttery, soft, and absolutely phenomenal. Best biscuits I've ever had. The pierogies came with a French onion puree and pickled onions. The combination was perfect, nothing was too overpowering. For our entrees we had the NY Strip and the lamb ragu. The steak was great, nice sear and great flavor. The lamb ragu was amazing. It came with a lemon ricotta that really balanced everything out. Pasta was cooked perfectly. And the lamb was tender and full of flavor without the gaminess that lamb can have. Tonight was my first time trying the newly opened, much anticipated, Lyonshare. As per their instagram post of happy hour oysters from 4-6, I arrived at 4:30 to find out that they didn't open until 5 and later found out they forgot to update their instagram post. No problem! The bar is beautiful, the staff is attentive, the atmosphere is chill. Needing another oyster spot in Beacon, I couldn't wait to try their variety of east coast oysters from Maine, Canada and Massachusetts. To my surprise all of the oysters somehow tasted the same and I couldn't differentiate the flavor from each region besides the size of them. They all tasted like salt water, not brine, but as if I took a mouthful of the ocean. No worries, maybe this was a bad batch? Benefit of the doubt- I ordered the vegetable frites which the menu described as 'chicken of the woods mushrooms. The presentation was beautiful! As a mushroom lover I was kind of disappointed when they tasted very salty, too much breading, and was filled with onions. There was no mushroom flavor at all. I'm also onion intolerant and onion was not on the menu description. Then I ordered the curry cauliflower. Also very salty and tasted like balsamic vinegar. My mouth felt like it was on fire from the salt and vinegar. My dinning companion said the cocktails were very good. The tilefish he ordered was served on a bed of lentils. He said the lentils tasted very fishy and the fish itself was also salty..... The staff is friendly and the bar is beautiful. Could be an ideal place to pregame if you are drinking only. What a wonderful experience tonight at Lyonshare Punlocked House. Came here on. whim after hearing about it a week ago, and it did not disappoint. When we came in it was busy, so it took a little bit to get a seat at the bar, but the staff was attentive as we waited. We got sat with Claudia at the bar, who was friendly, helpful, and made a hell of a Pinhook Manhattan. She recommended the half a fried chicken (yes a whole half) which was juicy on the inside and had a wonderful crunchy exterior. It came with a home made biscuit and butter & honey - OMG. Truly delightful. This came after a Mac & Cheese appetizer which had wonderful flavor and a classic crispy top. Lyonshare has a lovely ambience and the staff is warm and inviting. Plus, the bar area is terrific for cocktails and chitchatting. In general, the vibe of Lyonshare feels like a hip Brooklyn eatery. The fried chicken and moule frites were excellent. As well, the goat cheese scalloped potatoes were beautifully prepared and their selection of east coast oysters were also a fresh first course. If you're a true steak connoisseur though, bear in mind that Lyonshare has what I might call "decent steaks" but mine was under-seasoned and it did not have that wonderful, dry age umami flavor profile you might expect from, say, an elegant steakhouse in Manhattan. Still, Lyonshare is an enjoyable night spot and one I'd recommend if you're in the area. read more

Stopped in for a quick dinner and there's a first and last time for everything. The interior was nice but a bit small or narrow. The staff seemed indifferent, not welcoming and not cold. We saw a mushroom dish on the menu, only vegan option but it was no longer an option. Nor did they accommodate anything vegan friendly. They couldn't offer a side of broccolini because they only had enough for the dishes on the menu. The bathroom was a nice size except they couldn't be bothered to put a small table to change a baby if you have one. My friend ordered the pork chop "Special" and it came out on a plain white plate with no garnish, no sides and it looked like they just gave up and sent it out. He said it was totally dry and a lot of the pieces were fatty. So I tried a bite and yes, dried, fatty meat. Appetizing, right? I hate to make a fuss at places because it ends up just ruining the meal...but I did ask for them to correct the mussels and cook them so we didn't get sick. Cocktails were tiny, wine pours were tiny. I don't know, it's hard to find a place in Beacon where you feel like you're not being ripped off at this point. 2 stars for decor. Took the train up from Manhattan to spend a nice Fall day in Beacon and stumbled upon this beautiful restaurant. Situated on a corner on Main Street, we walked in and were happily greeted and sat even though we didn't have a reservation they were able to accommodate a few bar seats. Our bartender Laura was super nice, attentive and made conversation with us. The cocktails were perfect. Best Martini I've ever had! We ordered the biscuits and honey as a snack, the vegetable fritter with hen of the woods as an app, and split the butternut squash risotto and the half-chicken. For dessert we ordered the freshly baked warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. We were pleasantly full. Overall, the ambiance, service and food made the evening quite special. After hearing someone recommend this place, I went online, made a reservation (Saturday night) and read the menu - looked updated and exciting. Beautifully decorated, we were greeted warmly and seated quickly. It was a 5:30 reservation so the place was quiet with music in the background. Perfect for dinner with friends you want to talk to. We ordered the butter and blue salads and the veggie fritters for the table. Portions were big and that fritter - well - it was incredible. We had the striped bass with lentils, the gnocchi and the fried chicken with biscuit. Great ingredients perfectly prepared and presented. And we all took some home. By now the place was almost filled and the noise level was very, very high ( 2 very). And the music was still on so it created a loud background that started to become uncomfortable. With the exception of the noise level it was above par - and the service was fantastic. Not just knowledgeable but friendly and fast. When we dine out these days, we try to go early so we have some time before the noise level gets uncomfortable. We had a little time when we first sat down but by 6:15 people were shouting at their tables. I'd go earlier next time just for a quieter experience. Make it a point to go there. One of the best experiences you can have on Main Street. And there are a lot of good places to eat in Beacon these days. Casual, Delicious and modern. Just bring the ear plugs. read more

Had the chance to come back for their newly debuted brunch menu. I'm so excited to have an excellent brunch spot so close to home. Absolutely phenomenal experience. We shared two sweet stacks (SO GOOD)! I had the full beacon breakfast which was so extremely good. Perfectly poached eggs on top of a bed of possibly the best grits I have ever had. Best of all the toast served along with it was sourdough (strange to say but hard to find for breakfast in Beacon). The service was great and the live music in the background was a nice backdrop.
