We only stopped in for one drink but the Lyonshare Public House made a lasting impression. The bright and airy vibe makes this Main St bar a go-to for a good cocktail. Very welcoming and laid back. The Old fashioned I had was delicious. All the drinks I saw the bartender make looked great as well. Well done.

Inside -- it's NEVER this empty; we got there right at opening one time.

I've been to Lyonshare a few times now; twice for date night, so just the two of us, and once with a group for weekend brunch. I'm a fan! First, I think I enjoyed being there with just one other person (or perhaps a small group up to 4?) to be able to hear each other. Lyonshare is popular already, so it's usually pretty full and the acoustics are pretty acoustic...y... A favorite of ours is the burger -- I know it's funny to lift up a burger, but when it's a really good burger, you lift her up! The mac 'n cheese is rich and comforting; I'm not a huge thyme fan, and the breadcrumbs on the top are flavored with thyme, so less of a fave. But if you're into that flavor you will dig this. At brunch, we had a whole bunch of different things -- the Beacon Benedict was a big hit, as was the biscuits and gravy and avocado toast. Someone at the table next to ours got the ricotta toast, and when I politely exclaimed, "OOOH, WHAT'S THAT?" the person told me and said it was delicious. Everyone who works there is lovely, especially the folks who greet you -- whether the person/hostex at the front who checks your reservation the person behind the bar or any of the servers and food bearers -- the atmosphere is really comfortable and warm. Looking forward to our next visit!

So I've been wanting to try this place since it first came on the scene. It use to be a place run locally so didn't know what to expect. it was completely different from what I expected but in a good way. The owner is an absolute gem. The staff, are a bunch of sweethearts. The best way to describe it, I would say is it reminds me a spot you find in the city. It works for it's a date night, a girls night, or just a group friends. Make reservations in advance though, for the weekends. It's warm and inviting, but there's an upscale essence that exists. The dish, is just perfection. I was hesitant at first, debating whether it would be filling without your typical starch element, but it was just that. The bass that I had played well off of the anise and the dill. Oh, and the bar selection is extensive. Plenty of options to choose from but the ancient mariner is my personal favorite. I love sweet drinks. This is sweet but balanced. I'll leave the rest to you to experience and maybe, I'll see you there!

This place has such a great vibe. Whether it's just you, a special night like an anniversary, or a big group of friends (I've experienced all three), the atmosphere is perfect every time. The food is consistently delicious (the kind you actually look forward to coming back for), and the menu always feels thoughtful. Cocktails never miss and the staff is top tier. The live music is what really sets it apart. It's not the kind of generic background stuff you hear at other places. Every band feels intentional, like they were chosen because they truly fit the space. All around, it's one of those spots that feels welcoming every time and delivers on all the things you want: great food, great atmosphere, and music that makes the night memorable.

My husband and I visited Lyonshare on Valentine's Day and we had an excellent early dinner. The restaurant is beautiful and the host was very welcoming. We started with the oysters and pierogi, and both were excellent. Our half dozen order included oysters from Nova Scotia, Massachusetts and Virginia, and they all tasted very fresh. The pierogi were elevated with a creamy sauce that was beyond delicious. The Madame Brett cocktail was really refreshing and the thyme flavor came through strongly. The fried chicken was really good and the biscuit that comes with it blew us away. It was the best biscuit I've ever had and my husband who doesn't even like biscuits loved it. The gnocchi was also really good. The order was a little small but it was just enough to share with the fried chicken. We ended with a special Valentine's Day dessert that was fabulous. Highly recommend Lyonshare for dinner and drinks.

Fried half chicken and biscuit with slaw

We came a on summer monday evening and got seated 20 minutes before the kitchen closes at 9pm. Our food surprisingly came only 10 minutes after our order was put in. The chicken was amazing, juicy on the inside crispy on the outside without the batter being too thick crusty or filling. It felt pan fried rather than dropped in a vat of oil. The biscuit was thick fluffy enormous and went well with the creamed honey butter. Everything paired well and the cole slaw helped cut through the richness of the other parts of the dish. The pierogis were mild in flavor compared the Chinese dumplings or pan fried gyoza. It was pillow savory and light. I cared more for the picked onions and onion remoulade they were sitting on, than the classic filling but it's a good pick if you're hungry and looking to fill up on something starchy. The best but not the last dish is the sea bass, two filets encircled with lightly dressed vegetables. I added pickled red onions to balance out the olives. The parsley tapenade is by the far the most delicious part. As essential as the sauce is for baked escargot. Well worth it! And finally, the cookie skillet dessert the size of the palm of my hand. Take it with traditional vanilla bean, chocolate or mint chip. An all American hot and cold treat like this never disappoints! The service was great and accommodating, our server was able to describe thoroughly and guide us gently into a decision. No pressure! Thanks Lyonshare! Youre making the Beacon restaurant scene better and better!

There was a mix up with our parties reservation date, but the hostess and manager were very accommodating and kept our party updated as we waited at the bar. The bar is nicely lit, sleek and a definite style upgrade from the previous. Bar tenders were friendly and engaging. For dinner, I ordered the burger. It was tasty and served with french fries.

First time in Beacon and was looking for a place to have dinner. We saw this place that had a cozy and romantic, yet casual atmosphere. We didn't have a reservation and they initially told us they had no tables available. Luckily, we ended up sitting at the bar. The bartenders were so lovely and welcoming. They were knowledgeable and made great recommendations. We shared the biscuits and pierogies as appetizers. The pierogies were delicious, but the biscuits stole the show. They were buttery, soft, and absolutely phenomenal. Best biscuits I've ever had. The pierogies came with a French onion puree and pickled onions. The combination was perfect, nothing was too overpowering. For our entrees we had the NY Strip and the lamb ragu. The steak was great, nice sear and great flavor. The lamb ragu was amazing. It came with a lemon ricotta that really balanced everything out. Pasta was cooked perfectly. And the lamb was tender and full of flavor without the gaminess that lamb can have. Overall our experience here was amazing. I'll be thinking about it for a whole. Definitely check it out!

On a trip to Colorado, Kihlmire visited a shop that featured an abundance of books and records. He came up with an idea to open a similar shop that would also feature craft beer. Kihlmire initially opened The Vinyl Room by himself in Wappingers Falls. In addition to beer, records, and video games, customers could also enjoy pizza by ordering it through a special window that connected to the Wagon Wheel next door. Although the concept was well-received, the small space and constraints from the landlord limited the full potential of the business. In July 2021, it moved to a new space at 344 Main Street in Beacon. Customers could order food from Roma Nova across the street. Unfortunately, the space was still too small and the owners received numerous noise complaints from apartment tenants upstairs. In August 2023, The Vinyl Room moved down the street to 393 Main Street to their third (and hopefully forever) location. For the latest version of the business, childhood friend Kane Licari came on board as a partner. This also marks the first time that The Vinyl Room features a kitchen with their own food. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, rice bowls, tacos, wings, and various bar bites. In addition to craft beer, the bar also serves wine, craft cocktails, and mocktails. I recently visited The Vinyl Room for lunch with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. Any place that features craft beer, records, and classic arcade cabinets sounds like Heaven to someone like me. I really liked the whole vibe of the interior with the industrial design and all of the pop culture and music references. My sons and I grabbed a booth and looked over the menu. For food, I had the "Crunchy Chicken Bowl" (sushi rice, pickled onions, avocado, arugula, charred corn, chili garlic crunch, creamy garlic sauce), my older son had the "Grilled Cheese" (Vermont white cheddar, havarti, slow roasted onions, roasted garlic butter, sourdough), and my younger son had the "Return of The Mac" (smoked gouda Vermont cheddar cream, buttery breadcrumbs). We were all very happy with our choices! To drink, I had a draught pour of Upward Brewing's "Summer Camp" (Helles Lager). After finishing our delicious meal, I scrolled through the impressive record collection. Then we all headed downstairs to have a blast in the arcade. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Equilibrium Brewery's "Tidal Balance" (Double IPA; collab w/ Sand City Brewing). We all had such a fun experience at The Vinyl Room and we hope to return in the future!

We went around 5pm, and saw the sign "Seat Yourself & Order At The Bar". Ok... So I asked a bartender for 2 menus, and found a booth. We decided quickly, and I made my way to the bar. Others were ahead of me, so I patiently waited to order: Tripple Smash Burger, Honey Buffalo Salad, Purple Rain (2), Diet Coke. I paid at the bar, served the drinks and waited for our food. The music was 80's MTV Themed {Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Bruuuce, Billy Idol}. Jenga, Horrible Couple and Cards Against Humanity were on the tables to pass the time. Or flip through the many records available for purchase until the food arrives. The salad was large in size and very good. Been a while since I had a burger, and this filled the void. Fries were not that hot, but we ate them anyway. Afterwards, we went downstairs and played some old school arcade games and then headed out. Upon leaving we saw someone was having a birthday party, which was nice to see. I'm sure in the summer this place gets packed. They also have a selection of draught beer (The proper way to spell it). Good choice for food, although it wasn't cheap. Bill w/tip was $100. I think having a server on staff for all hours would be a good decision for TVR to make, in order to TCB !

We were seated right by the window and it has a lovely view. Generally speaking, the ambience is really nice. All of the staff was very nice and attentive. We did have a newer server who seemed a little bit nervous and less familiar with the menu than you might want, but she was very nice and we have no complaints about the actual service. We split a half bottle of wine, which was a nice option since we didn't want a full bottle. We started with the French baguette, the brussels sprouts, and the whipped ricotta. The brussels sprouts were delicious. They were perfectly cooked and I couldn't stop going back to them. The whipped ricotta was also really interesting and the flavors were amazing. What was really disappointing was the baguette. When I think baguette, I think crusty, hot, out of the oven. The texture of the baguette was weird because it almost had more of a pretzel like exterior that was chewy and not crispy. For mains, we had the crispy chicken sandwich and the cassoulet. The sandwich was kind of a letdown. The flavors were all nice, but there was no textural difference. The bun was a little too big for the sandwich, the avocado, and the other toppings, just all kind of mushed into each other. It was perfectly enjoyable, but just nothing to write home about. The cassoulet was very good. There was a nice depth of flavor and smokiness to the meat. Overall, no complaints. It did seem as though our mains probably sat under a heat lamp. My guess is that because we were still working on the appetizers they did not want us to feel rushed, but with this kind of meal and the price point, they should do a better job pacing, or they should just bring the food out when it comes out. I would rather have the fresh hot food out of the kitchen, than have it sitting under a heat lamp. Overall, the meal was lovely. There were a lot of really high points. There were also some disappointing parts of the meal. Given the price point and the feel of the round house, the few missteps hit a little bit harder. But we would absolutely come back again. It was an overall very nice experience and we enjoyed our ourselves.

First, the bartender was so lovely! I don't drink so I was truly impressed with the number of non-alcoholic beverage options available. I initially ordered a non-alcoholic drink, but then I saw the Shark Attack Mocktail and asked if I could switch to that. Thankfully I caught her right before she started making the first drink! The mocktail was sooo cute and actually really tasty! (See photo I included). I loved the theme of it, especially as summertime is officially here. Now let's talk about the arcade part of this place! The machines take quarters, so use the ones you have in your pocket! No quarters? No problem! They have a machine that will give you them, however it only accepts $1 and $5 bills. No cash? Also not a problem! They have an ATM on site. They really did think of everything, here! Most of the games are old skool, such as Pac-Man, Pinball, Dance Dance Revolution, etc. They also have a claw machine, however it's rigged so don't waste your time or quarters on it (which is exactly what I did, hahah!). Pac-Man is two players and my husband and I had a lot of fun with that one! I also LOVED Dance Dance Revolution (located in the far left corner in the back, behind the bar area) and wish I had found it before I wasted most of our quarters. Most of the games take anywhere from $0.50 to $1 to play, so keep that in mind. The patio is very large and much quieter compared to inside. I loved the atmosphere with all the string lights! They also have two little seating areas that are gated (which kind of look like adult playhouses?) which I think would be an awesome spot to chill with your friends + your dog. No fear of your pup running off! Regarding food: they do have a small menu, however it's mostly snack items like mozzarella sticks, a giant pretzel, things to that nature. What's cool, though, is that they offer vegan chicken nuggets!! Not a lot of bars have these, so it's definitely worth noting. 11/10 recommend that you stop in here while visiting Beacon! We absolutely loved it and would come back in a heartbeat!

It was founded by husband and wife Johnny Coughlin and Alyssa Follansbee. Coughlin is a cinematographer by trade while Follansbee is a public school art teacher. In 2011, the couple were both living in the Wicker Park area of Chicago. When the Emporium Arcade bar opened in their neighborhood, they both fell in love with the concept of an arcade bar. They later moved to New York City and visited as many arcade bars as they could with the intent to one day open one of their own. By 2018, the couple relocated upstate to Beacon to start a family. It dawned on them that Beacon would be a great location to open a "barcade". The couple didn't just want to open a place for adults to chase the nostalgia of their childhood, but rather a place that the whole family could enjoy. After securing a location on Main Street, and after a short delay from the COVID-19 pandemic, Happy Valley Arcade Bar finally opened to the public. I recently visited Happy Valley with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. I've loved arcade bars since the first time I visited a Barcade location in 2014. I love sipping on excellent craft beers while enjoying the classic arcade cabinets of my youth. I also appreciate it when arcade bars are family friendly, as both of my sons have also taken an interest in arcade games. We all enjoyed the interior of Happy Valley with all of the crazy colors and spaceship-themed decor on the walls. There was a decent selection of classic arcade cabinets as well as pinball machines, both of which kept my sons occupied for a while. In addition to a nice selection of craft beer on draught, the bar also offers wine, craft cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and various bar bites such as chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and mac 'n' cheese bites. There were also plenty of seating options both inside and outside. We had already eaten lunch earlier, but I was definitely in the mood for some tasty brews while I played some games. I first enjoyed a Thin Man Brewery's "Pills Mafia" (German Pilsner) followed by an Old Glenham Brewery's "Weaver's Pale Ale" [on cask]. Both of them were flavorful and refreshing. We ended up staying for over an hour; it was nice bonding time for my sons and me. We will definitely stop in again the next time we're visiting Beacon!
