This was a gem found serendipitously while we were doing a personal pub crawl at Beacon Main St. We stepped in to satisfy our curiosity and was educated about this liquid gold. These local creations are better than the ones you get from national brands. You can taste the organic ingredients mashed to create this sensation. Try out this local store and see what your next favorite drink could be.

I thought I reviewed and posted this review months ago. It was an enjoyable evening.

Lore + Cask, on the left, just came out this week.

I came here to pick up my supply of cocktails a few days before our scheduled Yelp Hudson Valley webinar featuring Liquid Fables. However, we were under "strict orders" from our Community Manager (my words, not hers) - to fully enjoy the webinar by NOT drinking the cocktails in advance. But what if I wanted some? What's a guy to do? If only I could get additional ones? Wait! I can get the cans! The space is small but cozy and comfortable and dominated by cans of cocktails (maybe I can decorate my bar this way??). I didn't realize it, but it makes perfect sense, that you can order flights of their cocktails here too as well as individual cans to drink. The owner, Matt is someone with whom you just want to open a can and invite him to sit with you for a while and converse. But don't, because he needs to play host to the incoming customers, and today they were coming in steadily. So besides the webinar materials, I picked up additional cans of their "Lion In Love," their rye cocktail, but also one of the 2 new beverages that just came out this week, Lore + Cask, another rye beverage featuring Honeycrisp apple. Another bonus - they have, if you enjoy reading them, both "Chronogram" and "The Valley Table" here, two periodicals that seem to be getting more and more difficult to find locally.

Fable [ fey-buhl ] -- a short story with a moral lesson. BEACON, NY -- I was on a merry stroll through the town of Beacon when I saw a burly looking man walking into a small business with a massive stack of custom brews on his right shoulder held in place by his massive arms. As I watched his ginormous biceps flex from the weight of the custom brews I thought, "Surely he must be delivering a magical concoction that's given him such strong biceps!" As I fantasized about drinking those magical brews to develop biceps I didn't have my thoughts continued, "I must ask that gentleman if those are indeed magical brews!" As I entered the establishment the burly looking man, named Matt greeted me. "Matt!" I exclaimed! "Are your brews magical? Are they the reason you have ginormous biceps like you do?" Matt laughed and replied, "No sir my biceps are from good old fashion home grown genetics from mom & pops. Never lifted a weight in my life, only carry my brews around to small shops in town." I was invited to sit down at the large table situated in the center of the establishment as the owner cracked open a fresh ice cold brew. I haven't yet taken a sip but watching the can being opened felt as though something mythical might take place any second! The label on the brew I was handed said, "Tortoise and the Hair". My lips quivering as if I expect something to happen from consuming this brew. I took a sip but nothing "magical" happened other than the taste of explosive lemon and mint flavors hitting the pallet of my tongue. "HOLY COW!!", was all I could muster to say as Matt stared at me with a huge grin. Somehow he knew I'd absolutely love it! As I drank this amazing yet non-magical beverage Matt shared the many tales about his wonderful adventures to seek out the perfect combination of flavors for his brews. He spoke as that of an artist who not only knew his craft but knew it masterfully! After some great conversation I purchased a dozen cans of these custom cocktails from the shop and ventured home. While the experience felt magical the beverage certainly tasted magical. 'Who says magic can't be contained within a small can when a master brewer like Matt pours his passion into every can.' The shop sells various cocktails in a can from a vodka mix, gin and a whiskey blend that's mixed with proprietary flavors that simply make the beverages, if not magical, very fun to drink and experiment with. Beverages come in a range of alcohol volume from the 5% range upwards of 7%.

Loved it here! To be honest we didnt have a plan to come, ended up parking nearby and walked by and what caught my eye is the sign outside the door saying they are DOG FRIENDLY :) im always a customer for those businesses. The seltzers are great! My fave was mango. Got a flight which was also fun. My dog enjoyed the cold floor on a hot day. Thanks y'all!

Liquid fables is a quaint canned cocktail place where you can walk in and enjoy a flight and then purchase the drinks that you like in four packs. Their cans are based on different fables like tortoise and the hare and the boy who cried wolf. It makes a great gift or just spend some time chilling with a flight and friends.

The drinks here are so good! They taste like freshly made cocktails, my favorite was the tortoise and the hare (mint and lemon). They also have seasonal flavors which sounded amazing, will definitely be checking that out later.

We drank a Liquid fable for the 1st time this past Summer 2023. Once we found out where they were made and we live in NY. We made it a point to visit. A Tiny quaint place! But, we made it to get our flight s and bought T-shirts and a reusable bag too!! Was a good experience! Glad we made it!! Great weekend

But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.

We shared the Butter and Blue salad, really well done. The fusilli Ferretto with lamb ragu was one of the best meals I've had in months. The homemade pasta was al dente and the lamb ragu was fragrant and meaty and rich. Perfect on a particularly cold evening. Liz had the sea bass and raved about it. We shared a bottle of Madonna Dell Donno Barolo wine which was probably not the best choice for the sea bass but was an outstanding match for the lamb ragu. The cocktails and dessert were also perfectly done!

On a trip to Colorado, Kihlmire visited a shop that featured an abundance of books and records. He came up with an idea to open a similar shop that would also feature craft beer. Kihlmire initially opened The Vinyl Room by himself in Wappingers Falls. In addition to beer, records, and video games, customers could also enjoy pizza by ordering it through a special window that connected to the Wagon Wheel next door. Although the concept was well-received, the small space and constraints from the landlord limited the full potential of the business. In July 2021, it moved to a new space at 344 Main Street in Beacon. Customers could order food from Roma Nova across the street. Unfortunately, the space was still too small and the owners received numerous noise complaints from apartment tenants upstairs. In August 2023, The Vinyl Room moved down the street to 393 Main Street to their third (and hopefully forever) location. For the latest version of the business, childhood friend Kane Licari came on board as a partner. This also marks the first time that The Vinyl Room features a kitchen with their own food. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, rice bowls, tacos, wings, and various bar bites. In addition to craft beer, the bar also serves wine, craft cocktails, and mocktails. I recently visited The Vinyl Room for lunch with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. Any place that features craft beer, records, and classic arcade cabinets sounds like Heaven to someone like me. I really liked the whole vibe of the interior with the industrial design and all of the pop culture and music references. My sons and I grabbed a booth and looked over the menu. For food, I had the "Crunchy Chicken Bowl" (sushi rice, pickled onions, avocado, arugula, charred corn, chili garlic crunch, creamy garlic sauce), my older son had the "Grilled Cheese" (Vermont white cheddar, havarti, slow roasted onions, roasted garlic butter, sourdough), and my younger son had the "Return of The Mac" (smoked gouda Vermont cheddar cream, buttery breadcrumbs). We were all very happy with our choices! To drink, I had a draught pour of Upward Brewing's "Summer Camp" (Helles Lager). After finishing our delicious meal, I scrolled through the impressive record collection. Then we all headed downstairs to have a blast in the arcade. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Equilibrium Brewery's "Tidal Balance" (Double IPA; collab w/ Sand City Brewing). We all had such a fun experience at The Vinyl Room and we hope to return in the future!

Others were ahead of me, so I patiently waited to order: Tripple Smash Burger, Honey Buffalo Salad, Purple Rain (2), Diet Coke. I paid at the bar, served the drinks and waited for our food. The music was 80's MTV Themed {Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Bruuuce, Billy Idol}. Jenga, Horrible Couple and Cards Against Humanity were on the tables to pass the time. Or flip through the many records available for purchase until the food arrives. The salad was large in size and very good. Been a while since I had a burger, and this filled the void. Fries were not that hot, but we ate them anyway. Afterwards, we went downstairs and played some old school arcade games and then headed out. Upon leaving we saw someone was having a birthday party, which was nice to see. I'm sure in the summer this place gets packed. They also have a selection of draught beer (The proper way to spell it). Good choice for food, although it wasn't cheap. Bill w/tip was $100. I think having a server on staff for all hours would be a good decision for TVR to make, in order to TCB !

We were seated right by the window and it has a lovely view. Generally speaking, the ambience is really nice. All of the staff was very nice and attentive. We did have a newer server who seemed a little bit nervous and less familiar with the menu than you might want, but she was very nice and we have no complaints about the actual service. We split a half bottle of wine, which was a nice option since we didn't want a full bottle. We started with the French baguette, the brussels sprouts, and the whipped ricotta. The brussels sprouts were delicious. They were perfectly cooked and I couldn't stop going back to them. The whipped ricotta was also really interesting and the flavors were amazing. What was really disappointing was the baguette. When I think baguette, I think crusty, hot, out of the oven. The texture of the baguette was weird because it almost had more of a pretzel like exterior that was chewy and not crispy. For mains, we had the crispy chicken sandwich and the cassoulet. The sandwich was kind of a letdown. The flavors were all nice, but there was no textural difference. The bun was a little too big for the sandwich, the avocado, and the other toppings, just all kind of mushed into each other. It was perfectly enjoyable, but just nothing to write home about. The cassoulet was very good. There was a nice depth of flavor and smokiness to the meat. Overall, no complaints. It did seem as though our mains probably sat under a heat lamp. My guess is that because we were still working on the appetizers they did not want us to feel rushed, but with this kind of meal and the price point, they should do a better job pacing, or they should just bring the food out when it comes out. I would rather have the fresh hot food out of the kitchen, than have it sitting under a heat lamp. Overall, the meal was lovely. There were a lot of really high points. There were also some disappointing parts of the meal. Given the price point and the feel of the round house, the few missteps hit a little bit harder. But we would absolutely come back again. It was an overall very nice experience and we enjoyed our ourselves.

It was founded by husband and wife Johnny Coughlin and Alyssa Follansbee. Coughlin is a cinematographer by trade while Follansbee is a public school art teacher. In 2011, the couple were both living in the Wicker Park area of Chicago. When the Emporium Arcade bar opened in their neighborhood, they both fell in love with the concept of an arcade bar. They later moved to New York City and visited as many arcade bars as they could with the intent to one day open one of their own. By 2018, the couple relocated upstate to Beacon to start a family. It dawned on them that Beacon would be a great location to open a "barcade". The couple didn't just want to open a place for adults to chase the nostalgia of their childhood, but rather a place that the whole family could enjoy. After securing a location on Main Street, and after a short delay from the COVID-19 pandemic, Happy Valley Arcade Bar finally opened to the public. I recently visited Happy Valley with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. I've loved arcade bars since the first time I visited a Barcade location in 2014. I love sipping on excellent craft beers while enjoying the classic arcade cabinets of my youth. I also appreciate it when arcade bars are family friendly, as both of my sons have also taken an interest in arcade games. We all enjoyed the interior of Happy Valley with all of the crazy colors and spaceship-themed decor on the walls. There was a decent selection of classic arcade cabinets as well as pinball machines, both of which kept my sons occupied for a while. In addition to a nice selection of craft beer on draught, the bar also offers wine, craft cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and various bar bites such as chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and mac 'n' cheese bites. There were also plenty of seating options both inside and outside. We had already eaten lunch earlier, but I was definitely in the mood for some tasty brews while I played some games. I first enjoyed a Thin Man Brewery's "Pills Mafia" (German Pilsner) followed by an Old Glenham Brewery's "Weaver's Pale Ale" [on cask]. Both of them were flavorful and refreshing. We ended up staying for over an hour; it was nice bonding time for my sons and me. We will definitely stop in again the next time we're visiting Beacon!
