This was a YELP event, It was an opportunity to try some fantastic cider and cider donuts. We learned the difference between apple cider and apple juice. They had some great ciders the service was excellent this is not just a cider joint but a full fledged restaurant I did see some fantastic flatbreads but they have a full menu. It's an earthy atmosphere and very laid back. I highly recommend checking this joint out. read more

Plenty of parking. Lots of warm, welcoming staff. Tasty cider! Lots of great products to purchase and go home with. Very cute vibe. We went to a Yelp event at this location and staff was knowledgeable and passionate about distilling. I treated myself to a Ginger Apple Mule and my husband had the Pommeau. Both were tasty and packed the right amount of punch. We went home with a couple goodies. Looking forward to cracking them open for a taste of fall! I used to make homemade wine with my Nonno. The old school barrel press they had out front reminded me of him. As well as the pommeau, which tasted like this Red Lady liqueur I used to steal from his cellar when I was in college lol read more

Went to the orchard to pick some apples with my friends and then had lunch here. Great food, great outside area to eat. The ciders are so unique and pair well with the food offerings. The cocktails are also well crafted! The farm store is right next door and has freshly made cider donuts. They have a cider slushee which was fantastic! read more

Phenomenal dry cider, a cute indoor space, fresh good food, Orchard Hill Cider Mill is the place to go for your weekend brunch. Don't sleep on the cocktails, including the cider mimosas. There is a great option to buy bottles to take home as well. Both their Cider/Pommeau as well as great local spirits like Hillrock and wines like Salt Bird! What an awesome place! Whenever I'm in town, I make a point to stop in here and do some work on my computer whilst sipping on a flight of ciders ($10). I really dislike a sweet, sugary cider. Luckily, most of the ciders here are dry and crisp. They have the best olives too. I highly recommend. read more

We enjoyed our dinner so much the other night that we decided to go back for Sunday brunch a few days later with our family! This time nearly all of the tables were packed! It's a much more expensive menu with mini items brought in from Soons and Scotty's next-door. All of our dishes were five stars... sausage gravy over poached eggs and melted in your mouth biscuits, a skillet breakfast, eggs Benedict with sausage, and auditions are served with home-made home fries! This is definitely a hidden gem nestled inside the orchard! The array of ciders and the flavors are phenomenal. The food, from the abundance of flavors of wings to the generous portions of charcuterie are unlike any other place we have been to. The staff is very knowledgeable about the process of making the cider and explaining the profile of flavors. When you walk into the restaurant, it's like you stepped into an inviting cozy space in Europe. We love it and will be back! read more

Cute and cozy place to grab a few drinks and have some food with friends! Super convenient that it's right next to Soon's! Food and ambience were both good. The only thing I will say is it made me somewhat uncomfortable that the staff members were not wearing masks. This is actually the only place I've been to during covid times that employees don't wear masks and it was pretty off-putting. read more

Accidentally stumbled across this amazing, diamond in the rough and am so glad we did. The dining room is so very elegant with its assortment of blue velvety seats and chairs. The wood work is meticulous and engaging. The music is well chosen. We had a flight of ciders. The descriptions of each, found in the menu, was fun to read as we tasted each sample. If we had any question everyone was very knowledgeable and could explain what we were drinking. The food was very good. All COVID precautions were taken. Staff was wonderful. In the warmer months the patio is open. We can't wait to sit on the patio. Until then we will be frequenting this amazing place. A greateexperience in every way. read more

This place was absolutely cool....cider tasting is not something we get in California, but with apples being plentiful in New York this is the place to go for it. We had a flight of ciders for a $5 tasting fee and then after we could choose anything else they poured....I chose Absentith since I never had it...very different. We also bought a bottle of cider and sat outside and shared it....very good stuff. read more

Orchard Hill Cider Mill has come a long way since their beginning. Located right next door to the Soons farm store, they now have a cozy indoor space and an outdoor stone patio. Great place to visit with a couple of friends. Creative cider cocktails plus a fresh food menu as well. Friendly service. Be advised this is not a large venue. If you come visit from afar, do call ahead & make a table reservation (they now take reservations). Prices are very reasonable. read more

Food was awful and the cider tasteless! I ordered the pumpkin stuffed French toast ... it came to the table, two burnt pieces of toast with a spread of orange thin liquid for the " stuffed" French toast! Syrup on the side was cold! There's more but why waste more of my time! read more

We had a great visit to Orchard Hill Cider Mill yesterday. After after a debacle with our reservation for Friday night the manager contacted us, was super apologetic and invited us back as his guests. The cider flight, fresh cut fries and burrata with tomatoes did not disappoint and the dessert nachos were delicious! Three people in our group had the chipotle chicken sandwich which they enjoyed. I personally had the tomato and mozzarella caprese sandwich, which was prepackaged and could have used some help. But vegetarian options are always limited, unfortunately. We also tried the mac and cheese which was OK, a bit dry and could use a bit more flavor. Overall we really enjoyed the ambiance of the beautiful Empire Room and the live music was a great touch. The manager said we definitely need to come back when it's not the busy season to enjoy their expanded brunch menu. We will definitely be back to try. read more

Definitely a destination spot for the weekends. The cocktail menu was a surprise, they offer an amazing selection of cocktails and many home-brewed ciders. We had hot toddies, which were so delicious that one was not enough. They had delicious soups, sandwiches and salads and the best kielbasa we ever ate. There was live music indoors as well as outdoor seating on the porch. The atmosphere is very laid back and welcoming. As the weather gets warmer we will definately plan on making frequest trips to the cider mill - after we shop at Soons Apple Orhard next door. read more

This review is long past due. I have been coming here for about a year now and have never been disappointed. All the cocktails are spot on and the staff is really some of the best/interesting people to get to know. The ciders are definitely something to make a trip here for. They have an amazing pommeau! They have a new seating area that is great for parties or large crowds. The best thing about this place is how each cocktail on the menu has its own characteristics. My friend and I tried this gem out after our hike on storm king mountain. We are both cider fans but we enjoyed a lot more than that. The restaurant was beautifully laid out and had a cozy atmosphere. This could make a great date place or a place to relax and drink with friends. We enjoyed their sampling of cider, an amazing short rib, burger, and a heavenly bread pudding made from apple cider donuts. Don't forget to try their spicy sauce for dipping. This was our first time eating in a restaurant since covid, but there was much space between guests and sanitizer around! They also have outdoor seating, but the interior design is worth a look. We highly recommend to check out this restaurant. It is also right next to a farm with apple picking!!! We both highly recommend to anyone who is in the area. read more

Loved this place! If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy some cider or cocktails while feeling safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, I highly recommend Orchard Hill. Their outdoor terrace setup is great - several tables, string bulbs for lighting, and a couple of outdoor heaters. Their ciders were delicious (I liked Bitters and Sharps the best) and their Hot Toddies were the perfect drink to sip on a chilly evening. Julie and Stephanie were super gracious and even brought out a couple plates and a knife for us to cut our small birthday cake we had brought. Looking forward to going back in the future! read more

I love coming here for the local cider, spirits, music, and friendly atmosphere. The Cider Mill is great and the cider tasting is fun. The small plates are truly delicious with a variety of meats or cheese (depending on which you order). We had both together and were delighted to mix and match to our heart's delight! What a pleasant experience! One might miss this little distillery next to Soons, but it's there and most definitely lively. Max was our bartender and he was a fantastic conversationalist. Not to mention - he made FANTASTIC drinks, by far the best I've ever had in the area. They also have a small plate menu, and farm-to-table events that you can sign up for in advance. Orchard Hill Cider Mill was inspired by our love of the great cider regions of Europe. We wondered why New York, which has one of the premier climates for apples, wasn’t bursting with world class cider, brandy and pommeau producers. It was just a small step from that inspiring thought to the creation of our estate cider mill and taproom in the Hudson Valley. Our cider builds on the legacy of Soons Orchards, which has been farming and growing apples since 1910. Our ciders are made with a minimum of manipulation and intervention. We respect traditional techniques and the natural expressiveness of our fruit, while not copying old world styles. We offer a new look at an American classic.

History

Established in 2013.

Born of a collaboration between Jeffrey Soons, Andrew Emig, and Carolyn duHoffmann, Orchard Hill has a unique pedigree. Jeffrey harbored dreams of reviving the great American tradition of making hard cider, an agricultural legacy practiced by our founding fathers that had been widely destroyed by Prohibition and hampered from revival by post repeal legal restrictions. Jeffrey's mother Sandy Soons had attempted to make hard cider years before only to be rejected by the regulatory authorities of the time. Meanwhile, Andrew Emig, a business consultant and Karl duHoffmann, a spirits and wine industry professional had been exploring the idea of opening a distillery specializing in apple distillates. While distilling brandy from Soons' apples at Tuthilltown Spirits in Gardiner, NY, they approached Jeff with the idea of opening Orchard Hill to produce hard cider made from apples grown at Soons Orchards. After much planning and effort, Orchard Hill Cider Mill opened in September, 2013.

But the MUSIC that they pipe in (I think it's Spotify, but not sure) is just wrong. During a recent visit we went from Taylor Swift to Cyndi Lauper to some other lame pop and it was just so out of place. A little jazz, or even smooth jazz, mellow pop, some R&B would make this place quite a gem. Maybe the owners will try to mix it up a bit?

The waffles actually taste like funnel cake which was a nice surprise. THEN. The burger came out and that is why this review dropped. It had a small hair on the side of the plate and a closer look at the rest of the plate, you'll see a long hair on the pickle. That was disappointing but happy to have tried the place nonetheless.

An industrial door by a brick wall is guarded by someone with a headset. We gave the name for our reservation and were given instructions for what to do upon entering (see video). We were seated in a back room, sharing a longer table with another party. Again, not mad about it. It's giving intimate. They also had a pretty great nonalcoholic menu. My wife and I attended the Friday night farm dinner and had an amazing time. Upon arrival, we enjoyed a relaxing cocktail hour in the taproom. The wood-fired pizza, ahi tuna wontons, and wild mushroom risotto croquettes were all delicious, perfectly paired with local ciders. My favorite was the rose cider. After the cocktail hour, we moved to the farm store, where several communal tables encouraged interaction with other guests. This setting was a highlight for us, as it fostered a sense of community. Chef Anthony's three-course dinner was exceptional. The meal started with pasta in a ramp pesto, accompanied by peas and mushrooms. The main course featured flank steak with ramp mashed potatoes and candied carrots. Dessert was a delightful apple bread pudding. My friend took me here to taste apple ciders, which I am not very familiar with. I think I am connoisseur now, I did not know there was such variety! I can't say I have a favorite. I liked them all. I met the owner Jeff. He is real gentleman, very interesting conversation, and he gave us a really great education on apples. I did not know there were so many kinds of apple! Did you know he farms the apples that go into the cider here? Did you know there is regular cide and hard cider? Not only was this gustatory experience, but also cultural and educational experience.
