    Speakeasy entrance

The Roosevelt is a themed restaurant, lounge, and speakeasy inspired by... you guessed it, President FDR. For those who aren't history junkies, FDR ran on a platform calling for the repeal of the 18th amendment, Prohibition. During the Prohibition Era, speakeasies (hidden drinking establishments) popped up left and right due to the nationwide ban on alcohol sales, consumption, production, importation, and transportation. After his presidential victory, the 21st Amendment, ratified on December 5, 1933, officially repealed Prohibition. The restaurant's name is a celebration of FDR's repeal and how it impacted the American hospitality industry and economy as a whole. The interior is meant to transport customers back to the roaring twenties. Think flappers, The Great Gatsby, dim lighting, black/gold/burgundy colors, plush chairs, geometric wall patterns, vintage chandeliers, mosaic tiled floors, etc. There's four "sections" of the restaurant to dine in, each with a different vibe. *Lucy's Parlor - A hidden speakeasy named after FDR's mistress. This is my favorite space. They really went creative with the wall decor! There's black and white photos of Prohibition protests, as well as excerpts from love letters exchanged between FDR and Lucy. There's a small bar and a good amount of seating. Sophisticated, sexy vibe. *The Hide Out - A private and intimate dining space for a group of 4-6 people. You get special attention from the Executive Chef. They offer two seatings per night by reservation. *The Saloon - One of the main dining areas, complete with a large bar, high top tables, a fireplace, a vintage piano, and flat screen tvs. *The Dining Room - A formal dining area for private events and parties. It has a mahogany bar, skylights, and LED lighting. The drinks and food? Of COURSE they're on par with the theme. Most of the menu is elevated bar food, but they also have steak, pork chop, and seafood options. They have Happy Hour every day - all day on Wed & Sun and twice a day from Thursday-Saturday! DJs on the weekend. They even have a Sunday brunch! I've only had drinks, so can't speak on the food yet. I've tried... *Roosevelt Side Car (Courvoisier VSOP, Cointreau, syrup, and lemon juice with a sugared rim) $15 - Definitely a strong drink with a sour aftertaste! Not my favorite. *The Bee's Knees (Hendricks Gin, St-Germain, lemon juice, and honey topped with rose water) $15 - Refreshing, bright flavor and definitely on the sweeter side, but I loved it. Whether you want to sip on creative cocktails, book a private event, or enjoy a dinner meal, The Roosevelt is worth a visit.

    Shrimp scampi.

The food was tasteful. I had the shrimp scampi. It just needed a little salt in the water. It was a good portion. So, I took some home. The service was very good. She was very attentive. The ambiance was lovely. Nice live performance there while we had our dinner.

Came here on a Saturday early evening with a reservation. When we got there, there wasnt much action. We were going to be seated at a table, but saw a private room with a table for 4, which we asked to be seated in. This place is beautiful. We LOVED the decorations. However, we were not super happy with our food. We had shrimp scampi, which felt like it was missing the scampi part. It need the garlic and red crushed pepper kick. It was bland. But from the other three indiviuduals, their food was bland too, all except the chicken parm. We had the roasted chicken and the short rib pasta. The dessert section was sparse. The manager did come in and asked our opinion on the overall experience and we were honest about our food. But besides that good experience.

The Roosevelt is such a nice vibe and ambiance!!! I can't wait to go back. The staff was by far one of the best experience I've had at a restaurant. They were extremely kind and not overwhelmingly hovering over us. The food was outstanding in my opinion. The fried calamari was my favorite-wait the tiramisu! Maybe the bolognese!!! My pictures are not the created and will not even come Close to how delicious the food was. Staff was attentive and not overbearing. The menu was not overly priced. We went on a Thursday night and there was a live band (guitarist) by the bar. Sounded so nice but we sat in the back dining area. There's valet parking but we found off street parking. Looking forward to going back!...soon!

Nice looking spot, with a good sized menu + daily specials. The staff was super friendly, and the service was fast. I got the chicken sandwich with mutz + sundried tomatoes. Overall it was kinda bland, but the bread was soft and the chicken wasn't over cooked. They also have a speakeasy, which seemed pretty cool. It is tucked behind a book case, the décor inside just seems like a continuation of the restaurant, but they seem to have some cool events there.

Went for a celebratory drink after a recent event, and was not disappointed. There were three of us, and all three of us absolutely loved our cocktails. Our bartender was super friendly and was chock full of recommendations.

i have been here twice within the last 2 months. first time me and a friend came here for dinner after work. had drinks and food by the bar. second time we were here for my friends birthday. she rented out a room. it was great we had buffet style food and had our own private bar for drinks. both times were great. love the ambience and the service is top notch.

    Drinks were delish!

The decor is gorgeous and the attention to detail is impeccable. We ate here for Valentine's Day and appreciated the subtle romances such as gifting a single rose to the women and complimentary champagne. I highly recommend the lava cake for dessert and we really enjoyed the live music!

    Empanadas

This was a spot that struck a balance between upscale and casual, with a bar area in the front and a dining section towards the back. There also seemed to be a private area for events. The menu offered a variety of intriguing choices. The service was appreciated while the food came out in a timely manner. For appetizers, I tried the fried calamari ($18), Argentinian empanadas ($18), and Buffalo wings and waffles ($15). The calamari came with pickled shallots, frisee, lemon chili aioli, and chives. These were solid; they were fried appropriately and paired nicely with the pickled shallots. The lemon chili aioli had a nice balance of acidity and heat too. There were two types of empanadas, chicken, and beef. Each order came with three empanadas along with chili mayo and chimichurri sauce. These were not bad. They had enough filling, and the sauces really enhanced the overall dish. The wings and waffles came with a maple chili glaze. The wings were not cooked enough, but the sauce was traditional Buffalo. It could have been spicier, but it was not a huge deal. The waffle, paired with the maple chili glaze, was nicely done and unique. The glaze actually went well with the wings too. For dinner, I went with the sliced steak sandwich ($21). It came with sliced filet mignon, caramelized onions, arugula, tomato, and a blue cheese cream sauce. It was also stated the meat would be cooked to a medium temperature. This also came with fries, which lacked seasoning and were not cooked all the way, making them a bit soggy. The sandwich was okay. The ratio of bread to filing was not the best as there was too much bread. The steak was flavored nicely and cooked right, but I would have liked to see a few more pieces. There needed to be more blue cheese cream sauce too as it really brought everything together. For dessert, I tried the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce, which was a special the night I attended. It was paired with vanilla ice cream, which worked out well. I am not sure if this was made in house, but the cake was great. The combination of raspberry and chocolate worked out great. Will I go back? Probably.

Like the brewpub, Silk City Distillery had been on my wish list, and it was not until I arrived at Ghost Hawk that I noticed that they were adjacent to each other, allowing me to check both off at once. The tasting room was adorned with barrels that were holding their vast selection of spirits, such as bourbon, whisky, rum, gin, vodka, and more. They also offered a handful of regular and high-top tables, which we were easy to obtain on that afternoon (given the outdoor options as well), but typically reservations were recommended. Though the seating was comfortable, the temperature was not. In fact, it was freezing in there, and we, along with a lot of other parties, switched tables multiple times to find the best fit. We approached the counter to order from their lengthy cocktail list, which included standard and more custom cocktails. I decided on their rendition of a Lime Rickey, asking for it to be made with their gin. The tart, sour, and sweet drink was light and refreshing. I enjoyed each sip so much that I wound up getting a second round. While many distilleries offer a few types of alcohol and a handful of cocktails, the Silk City Distillery went above and beyond with their vast array of options. Any connoisseur should enjoy the place!

Ownership really did a great job creating a very cool, city-style, modern atmosphere. Before writing this review, I had to really think about what UB&P really is and (duh!) the name says it all. This is more of a bar first and food ( provisions) secondary. As long as you visit with this in mind you should have a good experience. Well lit, well stocked bar with as pair of large TVS for watching a game. Not a craft beer bar but ok on the wine selection and it has an interesting craft cocktail list. However the drinks sounded better than they were made. My dining companion and I have had our fair share of Old Fashions and Lychee-style martinis. The versions here GOLDEN PEACH MARTINI & BROWN BUTTER WASHED OLD FASHIONED fell flat. At $16-18 per, they need to get better. As for food, a very small menu ( which I do like at times) but this one doesn't have anything that says "I have to try that!" Again I'm feeling that what with all the great restaurants in the next town it makes sense to push the alcohol here more than the food. We split he hummus platter which was very good; For our main course: the house burger ( with fries) and meatloaf ( with sauteed spinach and pureed potatoes). The burger was very good and cooked as ordered. The meatloaf was good\ok, but I have the opinion that most of us already have a version of our favorite meatloaf from somewhere else ( mom's, spouse's, our own). A side of cornbread was ordered too. I find most places make it too dry but this version was very good. Do NOT expect to have dessert here as it is almost non-existent. No menu and only a few generic choices like cheesecake, chocolate cake, creme brulee ( they had 1 left on a Wednesday night! really? ) Anyway, good place for catching the game with some drinks. Food here if needed to keep the night going. They just need to do a little work on those cocktails.

A quick heads-up: on Google Maps it's listed as Ceviche 517, but the sign on the building says Tavern 517, which initially threw us off. We were circling around until we decided to just trust the physical address--and we're so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, the name didn't even matter anymore. The decor is stunning--definitely has an upscale, Instagram-worthy vibe with a modern lounge feel. We might've come a little early because the place was quiet when we arrived, but that worked in our favor as we got to settle in comfortably and explore the menu. Drinks were a mixed experience. We tried the margarita flight, which included coconut, passion fruit, and strawberry. The coconut and passion fruit margaritas were absolutely delicious--fresh, balanced, and memorable. The strawberry, however, was a big miss--tasted like kid's medicine and no one at the table could finish it. We also ordered a drink called something like Chicola--it had ginger ale, lime juice, and some type of liquor, and unfortunately, it was another one we couldn't get through. The flavors just didn't mix well, and everyone at the table agreed it was a no for us. On the flip side, the Perfect Mule with a strawberry twist, the Henny Mojito, and a bold and fun drink called No Sheets were much better received. Menus are displayed on sleek tablets, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that the in-house menu offered way more options than what's listed online. And the food? Absolutely excellent. The Tallarín Saltado with vegetables was beyond delicious--we placed it in the center so everyone could dig in. The ceviche flight was fresh and flavorful, and the jalea (a fried seafood platter) didn't last long on the table either. One friend had the larger ceviche bowl paired with a mojito and already asked to come back just for that combo. Even the kid's arroz chaufa with chicken impressed us, with a big enough portion for leftovers. If there's one thing that fell flat, it was the atmosphere--at least early in the evening. When we arrived, the music playing sounded like retro video game tunes, but thankfully it transitioned into upbeat Spanish hits, including some great bachata that gave the space some energy. All in all, despite a few drink misses and a quiet start, this spot is a gem. For food we shared calamari, tavern fries, and quesadillas. The calamari and quesadillas were winners! So good. Attentive service and nice decor inside for pics!
