Yesterday a group of friends and I came to Lotus and had a great time we were given great service by GM Cola and Devin both did an amazing job taking care of my friends and I also met with a Security Guard name CJ who also did a fantastic job keeping everyone safe all security personnel did a great job checking all patrons for any form of serious weapons. So in celebration of Beyoncé and Cowboy Carter, we found this spot called Lotus in Passaic, NJ that was doing a themed brunch. It sounded super cute like, perfect pre-show vibes. First off, we couldn't even find the place. When we finally did, the front was completely blacked out and the security guard had on a bulletproof vest... sketchy. But we went in anyway. The first floor had a weird smell, so we went upstairs. The vibe was better up there, and the host was really nice. The decor was totally on theme, very Cowboy Carter. The brunch menu looked decent, but weirdly we couldn't order any appetizers just the brunch entrees. Kinda annoying, but whatever. We got the shrimp and grits, and the chicken and waffles (served on a skewer). Oh and we had to pay right when we ordered. Like... why? That was definitely a red flag. But surprisingly, the food was actually so good. As for drinks, I got something with rum and it was solid. My partner ordered the $30 mimosa pitcher, and it was mostly juice way too sweet. If you see the first few reviews being 4 stars or more .. scroll down and read the rest! That's what I should have did! Because then I would have known to NOT waste my money here. The list of grievances is GREAT. First of all, I made a reservation for a LARGE party of 20 4 weeks before the day .. TWENTY PEOPLE .. I prepared them for that. I asked questions, as I always do, about bottle service, packages and all. I was told one thing over the phone, but when I got there, it was "no, we don't do that" like ?? So whoever I spoke to and made my reservation with was just making stuff up then? Prep your staff so you're all on the same page. Secondly, when I did make the initial reservation and pay the deposit, there was absolutely no mention of a cover charge at the door. Cover charges are supposed to be for walk-ins, no large reservations of 20 people that was made 4 weeks in advance like that's crazy .. and the fact that I was not pre warned so I can warn my party, was crazy. All they could do for us was reduce my party's entry to 10$ instead of 20$.. And then the section .. I have 20 ppl so I'm thinking ofc they would combine the two corner spots so all TWENTY of us could fit. Surely they would... no, they didn't. They sat all 20$ of us in a section meant for only about 10ppl and then said it was all they could do .. no extra chairs or barstools or nothing. And to close, yes it rained but the floor was soaking, nasty wet and the couches in the sections looked dirty asf. Ghetto. Just go somewhere else, save your money, stay away. Run. Beware. read more

Visited this place for dinner with friends . Waste of my time !! First we had to pay $20 to get in because it was a party going on ! Then they only served appetizers / small bites ! Which the menu was a hit & miss.. I ordered the guacamole which wasn't fresh !!! It was guacamole purée with some hard chips !! The only thing I liked about this establishment was the setup and decoration once you are on the roof top. However, the service wasn't good at all. Our server rang in the wrong order and tried to tell us what we ordered. The food was basic and overpriced. I signed my tab with one price and days later was overcharged by over $50. I typically love coming here because it's local and always a good time. I came to celebrate my husband's birthday and spoke to someone about booking a vip section with bottle service and all of that. They told me there was a three bottle minimum or $65 pp charge, which was totally fine. When we arrived they didn't tell us that there was a door fee, which I thought was odd since I paid a deposit for a section. (I've never been charged at the door when reserving bottle service at other establishments) when the waitress arrived we established that I would be doing the three bottle package and I asked her what bottles were included. She handed me a menu, which led me to believe we could pick whatever was on there. (Since I ASKED what was included) At the end of the night the bill way almost DOUBLE what the balance of the night should have been. When I inquired the waitress told me that two of the bottles we got weren't included, I reiterated that I ASKED what was included and she said oh whatever was on the instagram menu. First off if I'm at the establishment ready to order then I expect you to let me know what was included in my package, ESPECIALLY when I ASKED when she gave me the menu. The cost was not a problem I just feel like they were NOT TRANSPARENT about what was included. I should not have to refer to Instagram for your bottle service packages if I'm at the establishment. Valet is $15. If i could rate a zero i would. We arrived at the lounge at 9am so we can enjoy some drinks and eat, The kitchen is suppose to be open at that time. The waitress informed me the kitchen is on hold for an hour than would reopen at 10pm. She stated there was a promoter who charged during a certain time while there was no signs stating any of that. Overall i would never come here again. Terrible service and they over charge you. I went to lotus with two of my friends and I wouldn't go back. My friend reserved a table and when we arrived they stated a bottle is required for a table reservation. That was not mentioned when the reservation was made. We went on a Sunday night and the bar menu was only available. We Ordered Wings and chicken quesodillas. When the food came I asked for a plate and they didn't have any. I even asked for paper baskets since that was how fries were being served and they couldn't give me any. I actually left Agave Maria today to visit Lotus in search of a more diverse music selection and also wanted to see if the service had improved from my previous visit. I figured that the holiday would ensure that the service was at least decent, but I was sorely mistaken. Upon arrival, I ordered the chicken and waffles, chicken breakfast sliders and 2 shots of Casamigos Reposado. Upon consuming the shots, it was obvious that what I received was not Casamigos Reposado. Instead of complaining, I simply, and kindly, asked that the bartender open a new bottle. Instead of obliging this request, the bartender retrieved another bottle that was already opened and poured my second round, which consisted of 3 shots. After consuming one of these shots, I again noticed that the taste was noticeably "off". After again expressing my displeasure, my bartender informed a woman who appeared to be the manager, who begrudgingly informed her to open a new bottle. The bartender then did so and sarcastically informed me ("Look, a new bottle") as if she was doing me a favor lol. These shots did taste as intended (go figure). After consuming, I opted to politely voice my displeasure with the manager, who I recognized from Instagram as @Colasweet, and gently inquired if we could speak in a quieter area. She obliged and we conversed in the stairwell leading to the second floor. The conversation i received from her was a mixture of defiance, denial, unprofessionalism and rudeness. She offered a variety of explanations for why the initial shots did not taste as they should, including the age of the bottle as well as potential sunlight exposure from being on the rooftop, among other things. She did not care at all that I received substandard quality drinks and seemed appalled that I would even question this lol. Truthfully, I wasn't seeking to have these drinks reimbursed and simply wanted to express my frustration to an individual who appeared to be in a management position. In return, I encountered someone who is clearly not suited for their position. After realizing that the conversation wasn't going anywhere, I went back to the bar area to close out my tab. Miraculously and rightfully, I was only charged for 2 of the 5 shots. I will let readers decide if this was an admission of guilt by Lotus. I was also charged an automatic 20% gratuity which was laughable. By that time, I had no desire to push back and simply wanted to leave. Prior to exiting, I had a brief conversation with the bar back who pretty much stated that this place has questionable storage practices for its alcohol. Upon noticing our conversation, the manager angrily instructed him to get back to work and to stop talking to me lol. To make matters worse, the manger then sneakily instructed security to escort me and my date out of the building (lol). This was completely unnecessary as I was already planning to leave and had no intentions of putting up a fight lol. I jokingly asked the security if she instructed him specifically to get us out and he confirmed. This man was simply doing his job and I hold no resentment towards him. But a "manager" feeling the need to have me escorted out of the establishment when I did nothing more than voice my opinion is simply appalling. Please note that in this review I did not even mention the piss-poor quality of the breakfast sliders, the Eggos and chicken wings masquerading as a Chicken and Waffles entree or the fact that I was informed that hookah was available, ordered, and then was told 30 minutes afterward that the hookah person had allegedly disappeared (only after inquiring about where my hookah was lol) Labeling this establishment as "mediocre" would be entirely too generous. This place sucks, their liquor is stored inadequately (or tainted, you be the judge), the food is trash and their management is incompetent, rude and lacks any type of people skills. If you need further evidence, look at the Google reviews for this place and the responses to the poor reviews. It's obvious she's behind these responses lol. Saturday night me and my family came here to celebrate my mom birthday. We spent over $1600 including the cabana in this establishment just to be treated unfairly I felt like the staff was very prejudice to me and my family. Every time we turned around they was charging us an imaginary fee for everything! we tipped multiple times just on the side to show we didn't want any problems. We went out of our way to do this! They even made us pay $40 to smoke inside the cabana on top of everything we already have paid them. If I could give this place a 0 then I would. I visited this past Sunday (6/26) with three of my friends and had the worst experience! Great location , great ambiance but the service here is horrible. We waited over 45 minutes for our food which came out COLD. we sat in the heat , we were not offered refills on our drinks or an umbrella to cover us and put us in the shade. I had to get up and find our waiter TWICE to get help / service. Other customers who came about 30/35 minutes after us were offered these service such as change of seating because of the sun and umbrellas. We were also told we couldn't order from the bottom of the menu ( small bites ) because they were only offering brunch. That was a lie , as we paid our bill we observed other customers food coming out from the side of the menu we were told we couldn't order from. Nothing was done to rectify the situation by the manager except an offer of shots & my food ( that I sent back ) for free no charge.
