7/26/25: (Update) Can't believe it's been 2 years since visiting the Silk City Distillery. You first order at the counter. We ordered an Expresso Martini (Vodka) and a Bees Knees Cocktail (Gin). Dario brought our drinks to our table. The cocktails were so yummy! SCD only sells chips and other related snacks. Best to eat before you arrive. Overall, Silk City Distillery has remained consistent since my last visit. Extras: - All alcohol is made at the distillery. - Distillery tours are available by appointment. - SCD has some hilarious Tee Shirts for sale. - 2 Restrooms on the premises. - Adjoining Ghost Hawk Brewery shares a small parking lot with SCD. As mentioned in my review for Ghost Hawk Brewing, I made it to the shared lot of this alcohol duo for the Poured Fresh event with a variety of vendors, food tents, live music, and, of course, booze. Like the brewpub, Silk City Distillery had been on my wish list, and it was not until I arrived at Ghost Hawk that I noticed that they were adjacent to each other, allowing me to check both off at once. The tasting room was adorned with barrels that were holding their vast selection of spirits, such as bourbon, whisky, rum, gin, vodka, and more. They also offered a handful of regular and high-top tables, which we were easy to obtain on that afternoon (given the outdoor options as well), but typically reservations were recommended. Though the seating was comfortable, the temperature was not. In fact, it was freezing in there, and we, along with a lot of other parties, switched tables multiple times to find the best fit. We approached the counter to order from their lengthy cocktail list, which included standard and more custom cocktails. I decided on their rendition of a Lime Rickey, asking for it to be made with their gin. The tart, sour, and sweet drink was light and refreshing. I enjoyed each sip so much that I wound up getting a second round. While many distilleries offer a few types of alcohol and a handful of cocktails, the Silk City Distillery went above and beyond with their vast array of options. Cool spot to grab drinks! The tomato drink was a little weird because it was sweetened with agave but the bees knees was so good I could drink 10 of them. Large place. Kinda hot so winter months are probably more ideal. Get food from Rutts Hutt across the street. There's both the distillery and next door is the brewery for beer. The cocktails were all very unique. If you want to talk about some of the better craft spirits in the area, look no further than Silk City Distillery. I appreciate a fine bourbon, and the bourbon distilled here is wonderful. Pair this with a wonderful cocktail recipe, and it's a major win for a laid-back night out. We emailed to reserve a table and they were ready for us. The distillery staff are attentive, kind, and knowledgeable. They also make a tremendous cocktail. We enjoyed our drinks surrounded by bourbon barrels at our own table. It was an awesome setting. Food truck outside was great, as is Ghost Hawk brewing next door. You won't be sorry checking this place out. read more

Was invited to a benefit here 3 years ago. Nice place with a few tables. You can see the distillery behind the fence and all the barrels aging the liquor. Went to another event there this past Thursday. Had live music which was great. Nicely Decorated for Xmas. Staff was wonderful. Very friendly and helpful with the drinks. Last time I was there I tried the bourbon. Not a big hard liquor drinker but the way the mixed it.... It was delicious. This time tried their vodka. Very smooth. Had a few dirty martini's (which were excellent). Nice place to just go have a few drinks and relax without the over crowding of a normal bar. read more

Never heard of Silk City Distillery until a friend recommended it. Who knew it would be so close to home! I enjoy anything and everything bourbon, and Silk City whips up some great cocktails. Honestly, every drink I had was smooth and tasty. They are also BYOF (Bring Your Own Food). The drinking area was clean and staff were very friendly. Cool place for strong bourbon and other spirits. Paterson missed out on having this business. Shares the same parking lot/space to ghost hawk. And across the street is rutts hut. I'd come back and buy a bottle of whiskey from here next time I'm around. There's a clean bathroom if you break your seal. read more

I accidentally found this place and I am so happy about it. I has a joint parking lot with a brewery next door. It opens around 1pm and close at 6 pm which is a little early to me , the night is young. We were welcomed by very pleasant bar tenders who introduced us to their distillery. I inserted a watermelon fizz , which was a great options on a hot day. My husband got his results old fashioned which he said was good. I tasked the husband with finding us a midwinter adventure that didn't involve beer, as I was beered out. The husband used Google Maps to search for distilleries in our area and that's how we found Silk City. Opened for almost 14 months, the space is well laid out with a distillery on one side, tasting room booking the other, and a loft space above, hard to believe this wasn't added to YELP? On our visit we had the opportunity to chat up one of 3 husband/wife owners. He gave us a tour and she finished up our tasting and made us a delicious 4 grain bourbon old fashioned, and a rye one too. Love how almost all ingredients are NJ sourced. Why didn't I find this place sooner? Such a great distillery with so many options. Customer service is great, bartender provides great recommendations to try. Also, there is usually food truck or you can bring you own food as well. My favorite drinks are big sexy and 5th year anniversary. Love it, found my new weekend spot to hang :) read more

This place is a literal hidden gem. Ohhhhhhhhh this place..... picture it, Homer Simpson, salivating doing his sastified mumble. Came here for the first time on Sunday with a friend who has been here a few times, and oh was I a happy camper. The drinks we had (especially mine), were BOMB! Unfortunately, the ones I had are seasonal (gosh cranberries, why you gotta be like that). Definitely worth coming to try the various drinks. It's a BYOF (bring your own food, be smart people) and my friend said they have food trucks over the summer when the garage doors are open. The two ladies who were bartending, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Silk City was an awesome experience! They share a space with Ghost Hawk Brewery (doors are right next to each other) - it's super convenient and you can easily spend a few hours in both places. The cranberry lemon drop was my favorite cocktail - all were very tasty and extremely reasonably priced. My boyfriend liked a maple flavored whiskey cocktail. The atmosphere is cool - there's a few tables with plenty of games to play. It's definitely a small place and probably wouldn't be AS enjoyable without a table. I'd suggest going mid-afternoon before the rush comes in for night time, and then you'd be all set! Definitely recommend checking this place out! read more

If you feel like you're in the wrong spot, you're probably in the correct spot. It looks like some sort of auto repair shop from the outside. There are large metal doors and regular, white doors with numbers on them. Look for the white door with a small sign for Silk City Distillery above it. There is also a flag by the side of the road with the name of the distillery so that helps. There is a small parking area. A great place to grab a drink or two. They had an excellent selection of cocktails at very reasonable prices ($7-$9). Everything was delicious. Super nice owners. Large tables with games available (Jenga, Cards Against Humanity, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble, and more). read more

Great NJ Distillery! It was our first stop on the northern Jersey Distillery Tour. My small group of four set out to hit four places Saturday, June 5. Celebrating my nephew's birthday in style. Had to make a reservation due to Covid 19 and limited space, but it was fine. We had great cocktails with great housemade spirits. Our server even did a Birthday shot with us, great fun! My wife and I always have a good time here. Drinks are very good, the products to buy are great (I'm a rye whiskey person) and the staff is very friendly. A warning - this place is a lot more busy than it was a few months ago and they are taking reservations. It's on their website. Highly recommended to go to the reservation path. read more

Passionate, dedicated owners selling a true hand crafted product deserves 5 stars. We had a great time talking with the owners and drinking with the locals. Definitely do a tour! It's a small production facility but you will learn a thing or two. Love the care and quality that goes into their liquor. They are also using local corn, wheat and oats from NJ and NY farms. Many ways to enjoy this space. Go to the bar and have a cocktail. Take a tour and do a tasting flight which will most likely lead to a cocktail or bring some friends and grab a table. So let me start off by saying that this place is a hidden gem. Because this is a distillery, there are many different rules and regulations on what they can sell, so they do not have an official "bar" that sells wines and beers. They do however, sell about 5 cocktails that showcase what alcohol they do make - rum, gin, bourbon, whiskey. I came here last night for a friend's birthday - which he called ahead to let them know he wanted to bring a large group in for a celebration and they were completely okay with it, very accommodating! We were even allowed to bring in our own food, no charge. They offer "tastings" of their alcohol which included an old fashion, gin & tonic, this pineapple and jalapeño daiquiri (sounds weird but it was AMAZING), this gingerbeer drink which included dark rum and lime juice, and another drink - i forget off the top of my head. The drinks were about $7-8, not bad and they were all very delicious. They really knew how to make quality drinks that represented their Silk City brand so well. Lastly, one of my favorite parts of the night was the mini tour they gave regarding the process of making their liquor. Again, I cannot stress enough how knowledgeable and how passionate he was in what he's been doing. Definitely a great learning experience and look forward to going again. I believe they're open on Fridays nights, not 100% sure but you can always call. Wowww!!!! What a hidden gem! From the owners, to the atmosphere, the tour, and of course the whiskey. This team our two couples truly took what many of us take as idea and made it an amazing reality. Brought some really big whiskey buffs with me and the whiskey even impressed them. So why was it so good? We were there for the release of there straight bourbon which has aged for the longest time of 2 years and let me tell you it was two years worth waiting for, smooth, extremely flavorful, and no real burn at all! They also were telling us about all the new experimental they will be releasing and they sound amazing! One of our favorite off the norm ones that we tried and bought was there oat whiskey yeaa it's made with oatmeal?!?!, And corn of course but wow was it interesting and good. Overall having visit a number of distillerys for NJ there prices are extremely good especially considering it's located so close to the city. I will definitely be back!!!!! read more

Love this place! With drinks like Big Sexy, Pride Tai and many more of my favorites it is my number one place to go for a quality drink made with their own liquor. They don't serve/sell food but you can bring your own and their drinks won't break the bank. silk city is a fun distillery. i wasnt too impressed with the drinks i had, the flavors didnt mend well and drinks felt warm. Overall the service and servers are nice and very charismatic. the distillery itself is a great place to hang out. i tried various rums and whiskey while here. overall they were okay, but nothing i truly loved. worth coming on down and having a drink, chill and relax. the atomsphere is warm and welcoming. read more

This place is a great way to spend a rainy weekend. Cocktails are too notch and service is friendly. One note. If you drink irregularly you will get SMASHED off one or two drinks. They are good but strong. Go easy. After being here three times I got destroyed off two drinks as did my whole party. If you manage four drinks you'll be in a coma... Came in with the full intentions of purchasing multiple bottles. They told me I just missed the cutoff for tours and tastings...understood. Since I have never tasted the product... how to find out what to purchase? They claimed there was some law that only allowed tastings to be done paired with a tour. Again... understood. I had no intention of going on the compulsory tour anyway... the promotion that they would wave the tasting fee with purchase was the point. They offered me a "flight" of their offerings at roughly same price as the tasting+tour. They refused to wave the flight price with purchase. Where is the logic in that?
