I have been dying to go to All Points West Distillery for a long time! After trying their vodka at a Yelp event a few years ago I was sold. I decided to do their tour on a Saturday with a group of friends and I'm so glad we did! This place is definitely one of Newark's hidden gems! The distillery takes walk-ins but I would 100% recommend doing a pre-booked tour. Prior to your visit, buy your tour ticket on their website or Groupon. The ticket comes with a drink, a tour of the facility, tastings, and a souvenir! The owner Gil, is knowledgeable & so welcoming! He gave us an informative tour and allowed us to taste a few of his great products. If I had to choose two favorites I would go with the Malt & Grain Pot Still Whiskey and the Cathouse Pink Pepper Gin. The whiskey, gin, and vodka are all so smooth. You really can't go wrong with any choice! The bartender was amazing & gave us great conversation along with recommendations for drinks! All Points West Distillery is the perfect place to check out some local spirits, host a small event, and come on by for a happy hour. each craft cocktail is created perfectly, smoothly, and made with all the spirits at All Points West. The Drinks range from 9.00 to 12.00 i believe. however, they are made very well and strong. Gil is very helpful with organizing private tours and small parties. you will receive tastings of whatever is currently in process. i personally hate Gin and whiskey, but i am drawn to the licorice notes in the gin and the smooth taste of the whiskey here. he has so much information about the local distillery history, the process of making liquor, and overall interesting knowledge about alcohol. tour can be 20 to 30 mins. street parking outside, and ive always been lucky to get a spot! my only complaint is how hot it is in here. ive come here in april and in july, both times i was covered in sweat. read more

I can tell you that you will be thrown back a bit when you first arrive... it's a very unassuming place, but don't be alarmed.... you're in for a tasty, interesting good time! Really small inside, so I appreciated that there were just a few other couples in our group--during these times. Upon entrance, we were greeted with a really tasty Old Fashioned. That definitely helped everyone loosen up and set the mood for libations to come. Jace was really thorough in his tour which lasted about 30-40 mins. We learned all about the distilling process for whiskey, rum, vodka, and gin. After the tour, the party began with very generous tastings of all of the above (except rum). You're able to order another drink or two at the bar from their very well-rounded menu--made by a very friendly bartender Anastasia. Such a cool place overall. When you first walk-in the environment is very warming . You are greeted with a mimosa and a menu of the bar. They also provide three shot glasses with whiskey and gin. I went in the tour and it was very informative. Learned so much about how whiskey and beer is created and fermented . After the tour we can sit and order from the bar. I tried the funk the pain away, which is more of a pina colada type of drink which taste great. My cousin works here so it's a plus. He also gave us a good idea of what to expect. My husband and I came here for a whiskey tasting that included a short tour of the facility. From the outside at night in a part of Jersey you are totally unfamiliar with, the block is dark and creepy. And the public entrance is not noticable until you walk completely up to the door on the side of the building. Once inside we were greeted by Jessy at the bar. We had a few drinks while we waited for our tour to start. Jessy was energetic and helpful. She helped us pick out quite a few drinks based on her questions about our taste preferences. The tour was led by Gil the owner. This guy knows his stuff, basically a walking historian. So he guides us through the process of how he makes his liquor and even let's us sample some at different stages to see the importance of distilling and aging. They mainly sold whiskey and 80 proof and 104 proof vodka at this location. The Gin he sells has 13 flavors such as licorce, starnise, black pepper, juniper, lemon zest and orange zest. And the corn whiskey which Gil ages for a year tastes AWESOME! read more

This was our final stop for the day of our Northern Jersey Distillery Tour on June 5, 2021 and it didn't disappoint. Had to make a reservation due to Covid 19 and occupancy restrictions. We had a Tour of the facility with a Tour guide explaining how the spirits are made and bottled. It was very informative. There was a fee to reserve, which included a cocktail and a tasting of whichever of their spirits you'd like. I tried the pepper vodka, very nice! They also make rum, gin, and whiskey. All very good. Go visit the distillery, its and awesome experience. My wife and I planned some activities to do on our adventure around New Jersey. We found them on Groupon, a tour, shot glasses and drinks for 2, great find. Location is a little hard to find and the entrance is actually on the side not on the street where the gate entrance is. When we arrived , there was a group of 3 females finishing their tour. They looked like they were having a good time, each one with drinks in their hands, so I began to get excited. The atmosphere was welcoming and the music was bumping. We had a seat next to the bar, where we were given a list of drinks and we selected our 2. I got a whiskey sour which they make with egg whites, which I thought was odd but i found out its the natural way to make a sour without use of sour mix. Drinks were strong and delicious. Finally, the tour. The owner of the distillery, Gil, walked us around his small warehouse and gave us a tour of his thoughts. He was very fascinating to learn not just about the production of whiskey or gin but to understand why he makes his whiskey the way he does. This you will find out on your tour, no spoilers! We returned to the bar, ordered 2 more drinks and ended up staying for another hour chatting with Jess, the bar staff and Gil. We will return to get our black cat whiskey. read more

This is a great local small business. I took a tour with Gil who took a lot of time to explain the process and also shared some of his experiences with getting permits and building out the space. Really fascinating and I could've talked to him for hours. Small bottles are sold for $24 and large bottles $32. There are about 10 cocktails made in the tasting room ranging from $7-$9. Really like their 104 Vodka. It was interesting to compare their 80 Proof version which is very neutral in taste to the 104 Proof which has less of the flavor stripped away. Their Cat House Gin was good as well. Take a look at the Yelp photos to see the door. No sign, just a bell. Disconcerting, like a real speakeasy. The tasting room is set up as a bar with stools and a few high tops. Place was almost full about 6:30 on a Friday night. Mostly regulars. Worth a try in you support craft distillers. read more

Amazing experience at this distillery located in the cut in Newark NJ! This distillery was a little strange to find but the cool thing is the area has good street parking and it's nice and quiet so the distillery is super low-key and let's be honest, who doesn't like that when hanging out on a Saturday? My girlfriend purchased a groupon for us to try and I must say I couldn't have been happier with the experience! Although there isn't much space to tour, the owner was incredibly informative! He broke down historical techniques and explained how they are relevant in the distillery practices at All Points West! He even gave some history on the amount distilleries available now in newark as opposed to years ago! In addition to actual learning happening, which I truly appreciated, there was sipping and smelling happening all throughout the tour! My girlfriend and I ended up getting 3 drinks each and a bottle of gin to go! We would have stayed longer but had reservations for dinner. All of the liquor was smooth and tasty but if you're into gin, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GIN AND THE LARGEST BOTTLE AT THAT! It was our favorite! It is so flavorful and has a hint of something special. Fantastic local place! Gil (purveyor) and Anastasia (bartender) definitely made us feel very welcome. Vodka and gin taste great compared to others around the same price point. I have wanted to try this place since it open because I live locally and I finally got around to it this weekend. Did a tour with Gil (the owner). The tour was super informative and you got to taste the spirits during the tour. I really liked the tour because the owner gave you a great history lesson while explaining his own distilling process.
