We visited Sihana Bistro before a show at NJPAC, and it couldn't have been more convenient--just a quick minute drive around the corner. The restaurant is a beautiful corner spot with wonderful lighting and a warm, inviting ambiance. Since it was our first time trying Georgian cuisine, we decided to share a variety of appetizers. Everything was exceptional, but the fried mushroom salad, khinkali, imeruli, and beetroot hummus were the standouts. Of course, we had to try the famous Adjaruli Khachapuri, and it was every bit as decadent as people say! The service was very attentive. We were served by someone in training who was incredibly diligent, making sure to follow up on every question we had about the menu. The full marks are there for the waiter, the layout/ambiance and the cocktails. Got in with a reservation (please do book a reservation if you're going on a weekend night, because this place can get pretty full pretty quickly), and we're seated pretty much instantly. If you're a party of six skinny people, you'll do just fine in the chairs. If you're fat Americans like us, it's going to be a tight squeeze. They do a really smart thing. The window seats are pushed a bit away from the windows, so that when the waiter comes to take your order, they don't block the middle aisle where people are trying to walk or carry stuff to tables. Brilliant idea, and one which I wish more would do. The chairs are those mid century modern rattan backed chrome bottomed office chair looking guys. They're comfortable enough, even for us fats, but the rattan was starting to wear out. Hopefully, they'll see to getting them serviced, because it makes the place look a bit ragged. The tables were a lovely size, with plenty of space for our drinks, our food, and the beautiful bespoke charger plates they had on the table with Sihana branding on it. They kept the TVs and other built in furniture from the old Kinjo that used to be here. When we went, the stuff on the TVs was pretty generic. This is fine. Not a lot of places know what to do with those TVs. Back when the location used to be KInjo, they played either K-dramas, Anime, or other such themed shows on there with subtitles, so that it keeps the place on theme. This is NOT an allergy friendly place. If you're vegan, you're going to get either the cocktails, or a dry salad. Also, there's cocktails that have honey, so watch out for that as well. The falafel sandwich, which should be vegan anywhere else you get it, has egg in it. Not ON it, but IN it. The fries are all cooked in shared oil. How shared is the oil? One of our table mates got a mild allergic reaction (she has a shellfish allergy), and had to grab a Benadryl when she got home. It wasn't bad enough for her eyes to close up and have to go to the hospital, but her face was getting flushed, and she started getting really itchy. I'm sure the food was fine. I've been with this group dining out several times. If they're seriously enjoying themselves, they'll usually be raving about what's on their plate, and let the waiter know how good it all was. That didn't happen here. Everyone LOVED the appetisers. That cheesy bread situation was a huge hit. The cocktails are strong, and beautifully made. Well balanced with the right blend of sweetness, tartness, and slight burn of alcohol. Absolutely no complaints there. When the bill came, there's a credit card processing fee. I'd say the place is good. Here's why they're getting full marks: The waiter let us know IMMEDIATELY that there will be nothing for me to eat. He didn't have to go to the kitchen to ask what was safe. He knew immediately that there's nothing at all on the menu that's safe for me. That level of knowledge tells me that you've got a waiter who takes pride in knowing his job, and does it to the best of his ability. You've got an absolute gem of a wait staff in general. I wasn't bothered, because I live very close by and can eat at home. Just know that I'll never set foot in there again. I'm not sure that anyone else would be too eager to go back either. I enjoyed my experience at Sihana. The space is nice and it was fairly quiet for a Saturday night. Came around 9pm and there were probably 3-4 other patrons but the space was mostly empty. Was escorted to a table in the main room and quickly provided water. Ordered the burger which was good. Fries were perfectly crispy. Didn't get any cocktails or other food items but would certainly be open to trying them upon my next visit! read more

Absolutely gorgeous location. It is beautifully lit and furnished. It smelled like heavy bleach when we walked in. We were one of 3 people there. We sat at the bar since we wanted a drink and a bite. We ordered the Danza Dorada ($15) and the Fried Chicken aka wings ($15). The bartender was nice and suggested a few other apps to try. The drinks were so delicious and exactly what we wanted. The Fried Chicken was underwhelming. Very crispy which was great but the sweet & sour sauce tasted like mango salsa. We ordered these since we were curious and it was the only item not mentioned on yelp. If I do come back, I really want to try the Adjaruli Khachapuri since it seems like it is their specialty. Last night Was my first time to location on 159 Washington St. Newark. I had the best experience! Service by Bryan excellent and front end was very welcoming. Food was excellent. Hot when it came out and done to perfection . Beautiful restaurant in walking distance from NJPAC. Enjoyed the dumplings and the Georgian white wine. The burrata and prosciutto salad was very good. I came here during lunch on a Friday to celebrate my birthday. I loved the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. I love the addition of the leather finishes on the menu and utensil packaging. It really shows the designer's thought about every aspect of the customer experience. I ordered a burger and fries which was quite delectable. It was a nice spin on your average American burger. 4/5 My friend ordered a very vibrant salmon bowl with quinoa and the spaghetti with meatballs 3/5 but, I'll give the presentation a 4.5/5. Three of us checked out Sihana Bistro during the first week of their soft opening -- they are open for dinner from 5-10 pm for the rest of 2024 and open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner starting in 2025. The restaurant is nicely decorated, including the table setting that has fancy plates with detailed drawing and the restaurant name and utensils wrapped in cloth napkins that is held together with a leather napkin ring. (The staff are quick to snatch it from your table once removed to prevent any from disappearing or walking away.) A plate of green salad and a bowl of bread with an oil balsamic vinegar mixture was brought to the table almost immediately after we were sitted. Salad was lightly dressed, and the bread was okay, although the oil-vinegar mixture was delicious. We started with patatas bravas, beef and cheese flavors of Khinkali, and octopus for appetizers. Patatas bravas (and all of their potatoes sides) are on point with the aioli adding a slight spice. Khinkali with meat has soup inside the dumpling, which is reminiscent of xiaolongbao (Chinese soup dumplings) but with thicker dough. They were familiar to me, but one of my friends found it difficult to eat because they were not used to the style. Cheese khinkali doesn't have soup and is like a ravioli, but nothing particularly special. Octopus is pretty to look at and even prettier tasting -- the flavors are great with the different textures of octopus, mashed potatoes, and fried sweet potato chips. Among these, I would recommend trying the patatas bravas and octopus. As for the entrees, we ordered Adjaruli Khachapuri, Steak Frites, Sihana Burger, and Seafood Paella. Steak Frites was highly recommended by our server Isaac, and it did not disappoint with moist and tender steak and a tasty side of potatoes. The burger is solid but nothing exceptional, and seafood paella had a lot of seafood and vegetables mixed in with the rice. We got Adjaruli Khachapuri for the traditional Georgian factor, but we found it a little too salty for our taste. One of my friends ran into an acquaintance on their way to the restroom, and they did not enjoy the creamy garlic chicken because it had too much cream with no sides. Entrees are on the smaller side, so one entree per person may not be enough, even after appetizers. We finished with the French donuts -- they are delicious but because they come out piping hot, you should cut them in half and let the cream inside cool before biting into them to prevent burning your tongue and the inside of your mouth. We had a wonderful time at Sihana overall, minus some minor issues as mentioned above. We had asked for our leftovers to be packed up, but because the restaurant became packed by 7:30 pm, our server seemed overwhelmed and likely forgot about our request -- to be fair, we also forgot about it and didn't remember until 15 minutes after we left the restaurant. Still, I look forward to returning when Sihana has full menu availability. read more

Went here before an event at Prudential Center. We ordered drinks, app and a meal. The drinks and app were good. The entree took over an hour and it was 2 pasta dishes .. they never came back to check on us for 50 min so we asked to for the check. Instead of apologizing for not getting us our meals they asked us to notify them that we wanted a rush order next time. This is hilarious! Only go here if you have cleared your calendar for the next 3-5 business days. They also tried to charge us for the meals we never received! read more

A friend and I went to dinner on a Thursday night. Instead of dinner we decided to have drinks and appetizers. We were eager to try different offerings to share. We had the beef/lamb dumplings (Khinkali), fried calamari and the fried oyster mushroom salad. Everything was delicious. The oyster mushrooms were seasoned well and fried in a light crispy batter. The arugula greens with tomato and red onions made a great complement to the mushrooms. I would definitely order that again. The batter for the calamari was also light and flavorful. The dumplings filled with lamb and beef had an interesting Mediterranean spice profile that gave a little kick. Our overall experience was fantastic. The atmosphere, and the service was outstanding. Just had a wonderful dinner here. We sat in a super comfortable and relaxing (and chic!) booth in the back with a leather bench and leather lounge arm chairs. We are from San Francisco which has amazing cuisine so our food standards are high. Our meals were exceptional with hearty portions. The Spaghetti Carbonara was the best we've EVER tasted. The bruschetta & prosciutto salad was so fresh and delish, and the vegetarian burger was a falafel burger super tender and moist inside with interesting toppings. Highly recommend.
