My friend & I came here as a last minute celebration and we happily fulfilled with the meal. The cocktails were delicious, the place was very cutesy, and the food was great too! We came in a Friday night, and they had a live music which adds to the ambiance. Gran win 9/10 service!
I love the Grand Vin. We got there right when they opened and as they started to get busy we never once felt rushed. The drinks are phenomenal. The cheeseboard is delicious and their pasta is to die for. Always recommend this spot for any occasion
Such a beautiful dimly lit restaurant with a calm yet social and lively atmosphere. It is a great place to dine at for date night or an outing with friends. I ordered the gnocchi and oh my goodness it was delicious and had the perfect pillowy texture. The meatballs were delicious as well but not as unique in flavor. Tasty nonetheless. The bartender was attentive as well and was quick to make drinks soon after placing an order in. the espresso martini was good, I'd order it here again. The total for two was around $135. Knowing what you're coming in for, it's a lovely restaurant to experience with fresh tasting dishes.
Drove over an hour to come to this place for a birthday party. This place gets at most 3 stars, mainly for the food. The reason for choosing this place for this occasion was because of live music and an amazing, authentic vibe and home style dishes. The ambiance was very nice and authentic, with dimmed lights for a romantic relaxed feeling. This is where the good stuff ends. Parking was an issue (not the restaurants fault). The place is almost tiny with a weird tunnel feeling, felt more like a corner bar with a few tables on the sides. Awkward positioning of tables made it hard to have a conversation. As I looked around to see what couples or smaller groups were doing, not much better than us, romantic dates sat soo close to other table that I'm sure they felt like they were on double dates. Service was fast and prompt. But felt like they were overwhelmed a bit and did not know the menu very well (Gnocchi was offered as a homemade pasta dish). We did not try the whole menu, so I will list the good and the bad that we did try. The salads and apps were ok, no bold flavors or seasonings were used. All dishes including the entrees were going for the visual esthetics and not flavors. We were a large group, very hungry and disorganized, the waitstaff should have guided use through the process a little better. Definitely overpriced for the experience. I understand the area and the effort to make this place look fancy, $14 for drinks, no problem, $9 for a mock-tail (club soda, ice and some juice and syrup) don't get. Finally ordered the entrees, had a hard time deciding, ended up ordering the filet mignon and a few sides. Food did not come out quickly and I was soon notified that the cut of meat I ordered was no longer available, but I could substitute a different cut done in the same style. I agreed. 15 min later I was told that the polenta is also no longer available, I subbed it for mash potatoes. After reading reviews I see that this is a very common thing for this place. Every side dish was flavorless, and my steak was too charred on the outside and undercooked inside, making it difficult to even cut (asked for medium, but it was trying to run off of my plate). The outside of the steak was so charred that it even over powered the sauce that they put on top to mask the bitter taste. I don't like to complain, so as always I didn't say anything to the waiter, however it turned out that every other person in our group that ordered steak, got it wrong. The best thing on the menu turned out to be Short Ribs and gnocchi. We had a good time, but for this price point and the travel time that it required, I will be declining to go to this place again. Hope this helps Keep eating keep living !!!
Have always gone here for girls nights and date nights. Lately, the music after 8 pm is SO LOUD. They always have someone singing and I can't hear anyone. I was at the first high top by the door So between the music and the hostesses screaming coldplay.... It wasn't enjoyable. Also It was my birthday and I put it on the reservation and they never brought out a candle. Just very little care was put toward the experiece. Food and drinks were great at least.
We had the buccatini with pesto and burrata + the black truffle gnocchi, both VERY generous portions. Our waitress was knowledgeable and offered her opinions and i really enjoyed the live music that came in around 9pm, would go back!
Came here just to relax and have a light snack. We chose the wine and cheese, which was delicious. It's a great, laid-back place to catch up with friends over a glass of wine.
A consistent five out of five stars for me every single time I walk into this place. Everything from the drinks, to the food, to the service, its impeccable. I can't recommend this place enough. The atmosphere that they create here is a cross between hanging out at home but when you wanna put your fancy clothes on and feel like you're comfortable. The cocktails and wine are on par with some of the best places I've been, but let me tell you about the food The risotto. Oh my goodness. Don't miss that if you like that. I've never had something that I didn't enjoy there from the appetizers to the main courses to the dessert. The pasta is handmade and absolutely fresh. Everything is carefully curated. And seasonal Perhaps the best thing about this place is the people who work here . They truly enjoy what they do, and ensure that every single person that walks in the door feels the same way. Thank you Grand Vin for always being my favorite place.
Welp. Unfortunately for those folks reading this too late, I had the most absolutely absurdly delicious special main course scallops I've ever had the pleasure of putting my mouth to. Yeap. That. Dang. Good. I'm not sure how long the scallops special will be on the menu, but boy should you get an opportunity to roll them around your mouth, do it! I've been to this establishment a few times for wine and a light bite or two. It was my first experience sitting down dinning for a date night. Unfortunately I couldn't have any drinks as this was a few weeks ago and I was still pregnant. It was our last hurrah before baby girl entered the world. And although she's a girl, BOY OH BOY it did not disappoint. The service was fine, my husband could have actually had his beverages tended to a bit quicker but they were busy and that's the price you pay when you get the food and ambience you get here, it's busy! We loved it for date night and it's proven to be that dynamic. Pop in for happy hour, a glass of wine with the ladies, a casual meet up, date night, or even give it a go like I did, for your last meal before sleepless nights and newborn life. Bravo, but also... I'm not surprised. A Hoboken staple that will be around for many many years to come,
So happy we stumbled upon this perfect dinner date night spot in Hoboken! The service was amazing and she provided us with awesome recommendations. We LOVED the GV chicken. It's a MUST! Can't wait to come back again soon.
Something of a hidden gem in a quiet neighborhood of Hoboken. The interior ambiance was outstanding: comfortable, relaxing, and warm. I was lucky enough to happen by on a night that featured live music (go on Tuesday or Saturday if that floats your boat) and it really set the vibe. The menu is somewhat unique (nevertheless appealing) and I could best classify it as modern Italian. Everything was very good and the prices were more-or-less within reason. The service was fine, nothing to write home about. Overall, I look forward to enjoying another meal here in the future.
Great Food and great Ambiance, came with a girlfriend for girls night and the service, food and ambiance were immaculate. The servers are friendly and attentive. My friend had the sea bass dinner and I had the grand vin chicken Milanese with Penne pasta (which initially I asked for Rigatoni) the waitress was nice enough to remove the extra charge from our check with was a nice gesture. I enjoyed the whole experience and will definitely be back!
Grand Vin did an outstanding job for our daughter's college graduation celebration. I could not have been happier with their professionalism, ease of working with them from across the country, the cute private room, the food and service! They went above and beyond and we really appreciated it. The party loved the rigatoni, the braised short ribs and the sea bass. Big shout out to Amanda and the crew at the Grand Vin!!!
I came here with my daughter for Mother's Day. I had already visited the restaurant prior and fell in love with it so I had to bring my daughter we got there early so we sat at the bar so I missed a Mother's Day gift that they were given out haha but it's OK. We started off with the Caesar salad, which was very good and we also had the chicken Parm in vodka sauce, which was delicious and we share a bottle of Rioja, which was pretty good and they gave us a dessert on the house which was tiramisu it was good. The ambience is very cozy and warm which I like. I will definitely be coming back. read more

This experience was just okay. The service is a bit slow especially as we came on a week night and the restaurant looked to be half full. The servers need to be flagged down vs being attentive. The meal starts off nicely with warm bread and some pesto. The pesto is a tiny bit salty but with a large piece of bread it was okay. We only ordered pasta entrees -- the pasta special -- Tagliatelle pasta with short rib ragu topped with goat cheese and shrimp risotto. The pasta special was... not that special. There is a lot of short rib but not much else. The dish lacks a good sauce base and salt. It came off too rich and oily. I was disappointed eating this and could not even eat half. My husband liked his shrimp risotto but it came with just 5 shrimps. A bit pricey for $29 to get so little shrimp and so much risotto. Ambiance here is very pretty but I'm not likely to come back due to the food quality and lack of attention from the servers. read more

My partner and I came here for an anniversary dinner and we were blown away!!!! The drinks, the ambiance, the food, the live music, and last but not least the amazing service !!! For drinks I had the pretty in pink and my partner had the always sunny in Hoboken... these were both very boozy drinks without the boozy taste 10/10. Food wise we I had the GV chicken and my partner had the Cod. I am a chicken parm lover but this dish was beyond amazing it was so juicy and tender and the flavor .... Wow! I would come back just for this dish. However, above all the service was amazing. Our server Amanda went above and beyond to make our night special. She was attentive but not suffocating. She was sweet and knowledgeable. The cherry on top was that at the end of the night she brought us dessert with a special message that said Happy Anniversary, it meant a lot and made our night extra special. Thank you Amanda and thank you Grand Vin, we can't wait to come back!!! read more

I went here on Saturday. Definitely make sure to make a reservation beforehand. The restaurant was beautifully-decorated and had a relaxing ambiance. Lots of dim lights. For appetizer, my friend and I got the fried calamari. It came with balsamic dressing on top. There was also spicy marinara sauce and a green sauce we thought might be some kind of pesto (but don't quote me on that). It was fabulous! Another friend had suggested I get the Chicken with Burrata. It was a chicken cutlet with vodka sauce and burrata on top. The side was a scoop of mashed potatoes. It was a delicious dish. The only issue I had was that while the chicken and sauce were warm, the cheese was cold. It was a little jarring. Definitely a great place though and everyone I've talked to gets excited when I mention it. Hope to go back some day! read more
I came here with a friend on a weekend afternoon for brunch. They had plenty of indoor and outt seating and the decor was impeccable. While I was waiting for my friend, a table was ready immediately ready. Our waitress was very kind and provided me with coffee while waiting on my friend. The service was impeccable and the outdoor/indoor dining decor was lovely. For my brunch, I chose the truffle omlette. Despite the cheddar cheese, it felt like it was missing flavor and it was a little on the drier side. Same thing with the home fries. I got some truffle fries afterwards and those were very, very good. All in all, I had high hopes, but perhaps I chose the wrong dish. I'll give it a shot another time! read more

Grand Vin is delicious! 10/10 if I could give ten stars on yelp! I've been here a few times while visiting my sister in Hoboken and I have never been disappointed. We went here impromptu yesterday evening, a group of eight of us. They were able to get us a great table (apart from other tables in the restaurant for COVID regulations) and the decor on the inside was so lovely. All of the employees at Grand Vin were so accommodating and friendly as well! Couldn't do enough for us! My boyfriend ordered the pear ravioli which was extremely rich and had great flavor. I ordered the capellini which was super tasty. My grandmother, mom and sister also all got the capellini and said it was delicious as well! It was in a beef bolognese sauce with peas, prosciutto and mushrooms. My brother in law had the pappardelle with scallops which was extremely fresh tasting scallops and a large portion for getting the small pasta dish. I would highly recommend Grand Vin to anyone visiting Hoboken and looking for great pasta dishes, great service and terrific ambiance. You will certainly not be disappointed! read more

Grand Vin has been on my list to try for the longest time and when we moved into town a few months ago I knew it was a must but then everything shut down :( Fortunately, they are doing a wonderful job reopening with outdoor seating. When we heard restaurants were opening we were a bit skeptical but after waiting so long to give Grand Vin a try we decided to let them our first test. And let me tell you it was a great decision. They've built a little outdoor patio but we sat under the awning because the only reservation we could get was at 3:45pm and it was still very hot. Regardless it's super cute. When we went it was not crowded at all and the tables are significantly spread apart. The hostess told us they aren't taking walk ins so it's reservations only and they definitely didn't fill the tables up. We each had a specialty cocktail and they were both delicious (I had the Hazy Tea Yumm). Then we tried the stuffed mushrooms and they are probably the best I've ever had. A must! We shared two entrees - the gnocchi and the sea bass. The gnocchi was good and very creamy (a little bland for me but really can't complain). The sea bass was AMAZING! Literally melted off and melted in your mouth. They also brought out an adorable BIG bowl for the pup. I always appreciate when they treat the pup well. I feel awful that I don't remember the waiters name but he was great as well. Gave us time to decide, had his mask on, was attentive. They're doing great! If you're comfortable, give them a visit and if not get take out. Their food is too good to go too long without! read more

I can't really comment on anything other than their takeout cocktails, which I felt was super misleading. The cocktail to go menu is extensive, and I love love loved that they had froze on their menu! However, both drinks in apparently a 16 oz cup size were $25 each. Each were supposedly 2.5 servings, but when we poured them out, the red sangria (with 3/4 of it filled with ice) didn't even cover 1 cup!! Also, as you can tell in the picture, it wasn't even sealed! It was just in a coffee cup with a lid! No tape or anything! The frose covered about 1.5 servings but not really bc in the picture, it's just 1 persons cup. I mean $25 for a cocktail to go is A LOT, especially since it's only 1.5 servings. That's like paying $18 for a single serving in the restaurant. I've gotten a $10 margarita in a bottle (no ice) that's about 16 oz from On The Border, and it filled up 2 full wine glasses for me, and they were strong! I personally will never order to go cocktails from here ever again, but hopefully, they don't rip you off when you dine in the restaurant. read more

Good for a date. Good for drinks with friends. Metered street parking (careful for residential-only parking areas.) Don't wear a suit, but don't wear a hoodie, keep it nice. Away from the over populated Waahington St. GV has been on my list visit for a while so I'm happy my friends and I had a chance to check them out for brunch. We had a reservation for 4 people on a Sunday morning. We were quickly seated although we arrived about 10 minutes late. We scanned our QR codes to view the menu that's engraved on a wooden sign. It's a nice little touch that adds to the overall garden/farm aesthetic. (The bathrooms are well designed too!) My group ordered burgers and salads, and they seemed to enjoy their food. For me, I was in the mood for breakfast and opted for the croissant french toast, no powdered sugar, syrup on the side, with a side of scrambled egg whites. Everything was delicious! My toast had a nice crunchy exterior that was still light and fluffy on the inside. Speaking of light and fluffy, my eggs were cooked well too. I washed it all down with a sparkling water and walked away feeling satisfied. Everything was apprroatly priced so I can see myself returning. I'd be curious to try their dinner menu and have an alcoholic drink. Minus one star because the glasswear looks dirty. It's not dirty, just a result of washing dishes with the hard water we have in the area. It's gives the glasses a foggy finish that can be polished. It's not a huge deal but for a restaurant that hosts events and seems to hold itself to a higher standard, it would be nice to see the extra effort. Overall a solid experience. I'll be back. read more
I truly enjoy Hoboken restaurants that are off the beaten path of Washington Street. This gem is nestled on the corner of Grand and 5th. The outside is inviting with the lights and the decor indoors is even more special. I've been to Grand Vin multiple times for dinner and loved it. It's definitely a great date spot for the evening. It's cozy inside though it tends to get crowded especially at the bar. However recently was the first time I've gone to brunch there. The brunch menu was intriguing and the brunch cocktails were also unique. I had the kale breakfast salad which was a plate of kale, side of Greek yogurt, an egg, avocado and fried garlic. The fried garlic was really the star of the dish. I wish the meal came in like a bowl plentiful of kale. I also Had the truffle fries which were huge thick cut fries. Definitely enough to share. My friends had the croissant French toast, and the brunch burger and they all seemed to enjoy their food. We did get a carafe of the Prosecco sangria which was really good. It has cinnamon in it which is an acquired taste. Over all we had a great time. The servers were chill and friendly. The decor looks even better during the day with the floral scene on the ceiling. I'll certainly be back . read more
