Really pleasant neighborhood space. Decent selection of draft beer, a few of them local. Served in tiny glasses. Noticed the same thing with wine pourings; tiny glasses / tiny pours. We were there as happy hour ended, so perhaps it was a happy hour thing, but was left with the impression they were a tiny pour establishment. Had heard that their crispy cauliflower nuggets were a specialty, so gave them a try. Very pleasant. Light breading, good crunch, great flavor. Recommend, and would be surprised if we ever came and didn't order. Split a house salad. Good and plenty to share. Just a bit inconvenient to try to split at the table on to small plates. No fresh utensils between courses. Wait person just moved the forks and knifes off the plates back onto the table as they removed the empty plates. Something I've always found off putting and cheap at what otherwise seems a nice restaurant. Wife got the steak frites, which was clearly the best dinner choice. Nice sized piece of well charred hangar steak with a good pile of wonderfully crispy fries. I got the sausage fusilli calabrese. Some chunks of really tasty house made sausage. The pasta appeared to be house made as well; long strands though without the usual fusilli curliness. Honestly, they tasted fine, but looked very much like a bowl of pasta earthworms. If the pasta shape is adjusted, I might recommend or order again. A nice comfortable place with a few opportunities for improvement. read more

I went to Martha's during lunch with my colleagues. The interior is a nice vibe that fits anything from a lunch with coworkers to brunch with family. Our server did a great job of explaining the menu options. We ordered some apps and then ordered the steak frites. The steak was cooked to perfection. Martha's was the first restaurant we visited when we touched down at Newark for our family vacation in Hoboken/NYC. We could not have picked a better place to enjoy dinner after a long flight! I had never heard of Martha's, until a friend recommended. I absolutely loved it! Our service by Ayse was very good. I told her I was GF and she made some suggestions. After ordering something else, she convinced me the Brick chicken might be a better choice. I could not have agreed more. The chicken might be the best chicken dish I've ever had. It was absolutely delicious! I also had the house salad & loved the dressing. My husband ate the sausage pasta dish and the meatballs. He enjoyed everything as well. Great addition to Hoboken! It's a beautiful restaurant with quick service. First tried Martha's over the summer and had the crab spaghetti, filet mignon cheesesteak and truffle parmesan fries. Everything came out hot and the fries were perfectly crispy. Went back recently and tried the burrata, crispy calamari and pork belly bao buns for appetizers. For our main dishes we got the burger, cheesesteak and fries. Although it's a bit pricey, the quality of the food is great and they have an all day happy hour menu with good options. Bottom line first: Order the salmon! (And bring cash to save on the 3.5% credit card surcharge.) Everything we ordered was cooked well and a solid 4 stars, but wouldn't necessarily make me crave a return visit to Martha's... except the salmon, which I will 100% come back just to eat it again. + SPANISH OCTOPUS A LA PLANCHA ($18): The octopus was so tender and even my 4-year-old was a fan! The red pepper aioli wasn't my favorite though. - ROASTED BROCCOLINI ($12): Would skip this next time. Felt more steamed broccolini than roasted. + MAC AND CHEESE ($14): This app was my 4-year-old's main dish and she loved it. As expected from a baked mac and cheese from a restaurant--creamy, stringy, nice texture from the garlic panko. + ROASTED SALMON ($28): We asked for medium rare and the salmon was perfectly cooked, but the star was the sweet and nutty risotto with roasted squash and wild mushroom. It complemented the salmon perfectly and I scraped the plate clean. (I don't typically order salmon at restaurants but decided to trust fellow reviewers and I'm so glad I did!) + CRAB PASTA ($32): The spaghetti alla chitarra had a nice texture. Light and zesty from the lemon breadcrumbs, this pasta balanced the richer salmon dish well. And we were happy with the amount of jumbo lump crab meat in the dish. Though objectively well cooked, we'll probably skip this one next time so we can try a different entree. - SPICED CARROT CAKE ($11): This was enjoyable but wouldn't reorder. Also my personal preference would've been more cream cheese frosting on it. Overall, a delicious new addition to our Hoboken dining rotation. Service was great and ambience was classy. read more

Everything here was good except the cheesesteak. Unfortunately, Kraft American Singles, or something similar, was glued to the cheesesteak and did not taste good at all. The experience would have been significantly better had they used real cheese. I was really satisfied with our apps and then was saddened when the "cheese" showed up to the table. I attempted to eat it but was unsuccessful. The mini steak/lobster rolls stole the show and I could have eaten 14 of them tbh. I dont recall the service, which just means it wasnt memorable, so neutral. Ambiance was fine and there were a few other people there. One of the first hot days of the season I would've thought more people would be inside, but I think this place might be new anyway. Would go back specifically for the mini rolls no doubt. read more

The Roasted Salmon entree was delicious; cooked to perfection with artichokes, corn and green goddess dressing. The Chicken Sandwich also looked good. Perfect portion sizes. It was ok but did have a slightly fishy aroma. I would not order this again. The kale Caesar had a delicious dressing, parm crisps, and thin crisps of toasted bread. I liked the flavors and textures but had some issue with the cut on the kale and lettuce, which was ribbon-like. For an entree, I got the crab chitarra. The crab was cooked well and there was a generous amount of it. The flavor on the sauce was nice and the breadcrumb was a great addition. The noodles were a tad overcooked. I enjoyed the dish overall but it didn't blow my socks off. I did really love the offerings of a zero proof/non-alcoholic beer, wine, and mocktail. Service was lovely and pacing was good. I was not upset about anything, but I do expect a slight touch more at the price point. I'd go back if someone invited me. read more

Martha's opened about a week ago, and it seemed that they might still be trying to get their footing. First, they did not yet work with an online reservation system, so we had to call to book something. When we arrived, there was no host to greet us or even a host stand to highlight the prospect of having one in the near future. So, we checked in with the bar staff and a server, who pointed to one of their high-top tables at the entrance to the dining room. Once we were seated, we found the service prompt and friendly, though our waitress seemed a little shy or unsure of herself. We started with cocktails, and I selected the Golden Hour, a blend of Ketel One vodka, elderflower, white peach puree, lemon juice, and yuzu bitters. I honestly only tasted a good dose of vodka and something that resembled grapefruit, which I guess was the yuzu bitters...? The drink had a slight pink tint to it, but I otherwise did not detect any white peach or other fruit puree. My boyfriend's Frozen Lime Margarita was better, but had an odd floral finish. Despite our underwhelming drinks, I found my meal to be fantastic! My Roasted Salmon had looked bland, but was actually very well-seasoned and perfectly cooked to my preference. It was served over a warm hash of sweet corn, fried artichokes, and sliced potatoes. There was also an earthy and herbaceous green goddess dressing on the plate that made for a heavenly dip for the other components of the dish. My boyfriend's Steak Frites included a long, charred hanger steak that was very flavorful, as well as an excellent house salad (lettuce, tomatoes, and shaved heirloom carrots) and some under-seasoned fries. Overall, I would definitely return to Martha's for the food, but I felt like the staff needed some time and practice to get to where they should be. read more

I should have known when walking into Martha's and the bar is completely empty on a Wednesday night at 5:30pm during the supposed Happy Hour , which consist of 1 wine Pinot Grigio.. Then my friend and I decided we don't want Pinot Grigio.. So they offer 1/2 bottle wines on Wednesday. Only to find out that it has to be $120 or $100 bottles of wine. (The bartenders were not informed of this so they were confused) We politely decided to leave because we were uncomfortable with the rudeness of the bartenders. As we were leaving the bartender chanted and was very disrespectful to us! It is so disheartening to see this place take over for La 'Isla. I will never step foot in this place again! read more
