I was a bit underwhelmed by the variety of options since it was very sandwich focused and I was looking for something light without it being a salad. Landed on the fish and chips and a burger. The fish was cooked incredibly but it needed salt and the batter was too thick for my liking, it overshadowed the fish. The burger was good, but nothing to really write home to. My drink was SO strong that I couldn't drink it. Flavors were good but it was pure liquor (which I'm sure others wouldn't mind!) Service wasn't bad, our waiter was nice, but it did take a long time to get our check. It's worth trying out again for some of their specialty items, but more lackluster than I expected after wanting to come for years! The ambiance is what really takes the cake. Elegant but cozy with lots of green.

We came for our somewhat weekly bogo Monday dinner. As always, no disappointment here! I was shocked at how delicious the avocado and artichoke salad was. The prime sandwich was flavorful, fresh and hearty. I didn't try the fish tacos but my boyfriend said they were a bit soggy and oily. He was upset but probably wouldn't order them again. To no surprise, great staff and service and always a pleasant atmosphere.

Elysian Cafe is a wonderful place to grab brunch at with my Jersey friends. I rarely go to Hoboken anymore, but I wanted to check out my good friend's restaurant for so many years now and finally got around to do it! The exterior is gorgeous as well as the interior with all of its original molding and designs on the ceiling. I am a huge fan of that! The service was great and the food was amazing. I went with the steak and eggs and my friend went with oatmeal and then we shared an order of French toast and bacon. Everything was exceptional. Highly recommend coming here for a meal if you're ever in Hoboken!

We love this place! We have been many times. We have not been in a while, but finally got back there tonight. The food is always excellent! My husband is obsessed with the cheese platter and the steak frites. We met a new waiter named Benny who was very nice and helped me figure out what gluten free options to get. The hero of the night was Manuel. He came to our aid when a girl who bought us a drink and took our appetizer dishes, never replaced our silverware. Manuel was very apologetic and quickly got us silverware. He was very nice and friendly as well! All in all it was a great meal and we will be back soon!

I have wanted to come here for years and finally did just that when randomly in the area. I always see it so busy which is enough to turn me away when super hungry. However, on this lucky day it was early enough I hadn't hit the rush that showed up after I had sat down. We ended up sitting outside Al Fresco and let me tell you! The staff were super attentive, and the food was so good. My steak was perfect at a medium finish and the fries were fried to perfection that I couldn't stop eating them. My sandwich was also simple but flavorful, I'll never turn down a ham&cheese.

A Hoboken favorite for me! The atmosphere is lovely, food is always delicious. And on Mondays their 2 for 1 menu always hits. Huge discount with a lot of options. Even if you don't go on Monday though it's worth paying full price for the delicious food and cocktails. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance.

I love the place and I will always do so. But posting for the management to notice. Cracked coffee cups, broken water glasses that spilled water and even a noticeably long hair strand in the food (that could have flown in of course as it was open seating). Also the staff seemed distracted - it was busy of course. Wishing that they keep doing well and stay nice. The experience overall is still very positive.

Steak Fries $36 Don't come here for steak, it's doesn't taste good... I ordered medium rare and came medium / medium well. I can't really get the beef taste, texture wise it's quite chewy, and it's not seasoned well, you have to add salt & pepper yourself. The thyme butter doesn't really add much.

I can't believe it's been since 2013 since I last reviewed this place. Let me start off with Tommy the bartender as making this experience beyond expectations. The food, service and vibes make this French cafe a gem of Hoboken. Simply good food and a high quality ingredients make it exceptional. Note it's the oldest continually operated bar restaurant in Hoboken for a reason!

    Is this place kid friendly?

Hi. We love kids. We have a special kids menu with delicious choices. On Tuesdays, Kids eat free from 5pm to 8pm.

    Do they take reservations?

Definitely not for groups of 2-4. Maybe for party sized groups.

How would they fit a party of 14?

They have a very nice space in the back section (passed the bar area). It works. I've held large party gatherings there. Good time!

The space was not large, but they really made the most of it, offering a decent number of tables with reasonable space between them. My friend and I were quickly seated and immediately greeted by a charming server that opened our bottle of wine (it's BYO) and offered us still or sparkling water. I had read in other reviews that you had to pay for water, so I was not surprised by the $6 bottle of Saratoga that wound up on our bill. In addition to our engaging server and the happening atmosphere, the food was similarly incredible. We decided to order a load of things to share, so that we could try a greater variety. We started with two appetizers that were seasonal Spring additions to the menu. The Hamachi Crudo included five thickly-sliced, tender pieces of Japanese yellowtail sitting in a broth of rhubarb aguachile and topped with white strawberries and basil seeds. It was an unique blend that we would not have expected to work, but boy was it delicious! The sweet toppings infused a load of flavor into an otherwise mild fish. We also enjoyed the Fava-mole, a creamy puree of fava beans studded with balls of hand-pulled mozzarella and pea tendrils, all drizzled with zesty ramp oil. I had not been sure what to expect from the dish, but it offered fresh, bright garden flavors. We also decided to share a pasta course and an entree. The Fettuccini was tossed with spring truffles and maitakes in a light, yet heavily aromatic, wild mushroom cream sauce. It was one of the best dishes I had had in quite some time. Then, as we were waiting on our seafood entree, we received a second pasta, courtesy of the Chef. I had mentioned that I had heard rave reviews about Flour from a server at Heirloom Kitchen, a top NJ restaurant. Apparently, our waiter had let the Chef know about that glowing praise, and the kitchen further verified that positivity with the generous gesture. In fact, they wound up sending out the Linguine with white clam sauce, razor clams, and wild ramps, the other dish about which I had been most curious anyway. Well, it was another winner! It was garlicky, herbaceous, and rich with flavors of the sea. Speaking of seafood, we next received the Branzino 'Bahn mi', a perfectly cooked piece of Mediterranean sea bass with Vietnamese sausage and pickled vegetables. The branzino's crispy skin and flaky, moist interior were excellent, and we loved all of the other smoky and briny flavors on the plate. After all of that excellent food, we would have loved to try one of their appealing desserts, but we were just too full. Between the ambiance, welcoming vibe, and delicious cuisine, our Flour experience was simply divine! It has now became one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and I cannot wait to try their pizza at some point as well.

I was a big fan of both, especially the ricotta, which was so incredibly creamy. For the mains, everyone's fresh-made pasta was excellent. I ordered the Mexican street corn, which was unique, flavorful, and delicious. I also tried some of the spicy rigatoni and loved it. We ended the night with the s'mores dessert, which was rich and chocolatey. Also, the fact that the restaurant is BYOB is a huge plus! The only downside was that I lost an item during our visit. I had a really hard time finding their contact information online, so I had to go back in person to ask about it, which was a bit annoying. Ultimately, they weren't able to recover it, but the food itself was still outstanding.

I definitely recommend having a reservation as they were pretty busy on a Sunday morning. The Cappuccino was well-made, soothing, and gave me a much-needed caffeine kick. We got one sweet & one savory dish because that's the best way to brunch! The Steak & Eggs was surprisingly good! The hanger steak was juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. I had asked for the eggs to be soft scrambled and I felt like they were a touch overcooked but still enjoyable and paired well with the steak. The brunch potatoes could've been way crispier but I did enjoy the peppers & onions mixed it. The French Toast was fantastic. There was only one other family dining, and the space stayed empty the entire time. The service was genuinely great. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and a really cute, cozy space. I especially loved the Christmas décor and overall vibe--it felt warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. The house salad was $13 and honestly one of the most basic, smallest, and most boring salads I've ever had--very underwhelming for the cost. We also ordered quesadillas, a cheeseburger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. My son enjoyed the burger and fries, and the quesadillas were flavorful, generously filled with chicken and veggies, and came with sour cream, pico, and guac. The tomato soup was tasty, while the grilled cheese was just okay. One small but appreciated detail: canned soda. Cold, crisp, and not flat which is always a win. Lunch for 3 came in just under $100, which felt high given what we received. One frustration was being seated in a tight corner right next to the kitchen even though the dining room was completely empty. We were so close I could literally see into the kitchen and count items on the shelves. On top of that, the hostess repeatedly walked by calling out "corner," which became distracting and honestly a bit irritating. Overall, I liked the vibe, but the food-to-price ratio missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad--just alright.

My first visit was for my birthday a few years ago where we ordered a steak dish that was so incredibly fatty that it was inedible. We told our server and they offered to bring us out another, which was also still SO fatty. The experience left a bitter taste in our mouths but we were comped the steak and offered a $100 gift card to use on a future visit. We were in no rush to return and it took almost a year for us to visit again. On this visit I don't recall anything being bad but nothing stood out. Our third and fourth visits ended up being yesterday (Valentine's Day) for last minute brunch and dinner reservations. We were appreciative that they were able to squeeze us in last minute. We weren't too keen on a pre fixe menu, but everywhere appears to have a set menu on the holiday. I ordered the shakshuka which lacked depth of flavor and was very disappointing. Probably the worst shakshuka I've ever had unfortunately. The salad and bread that came with it were both good. My husband ordered the steak sandwich (the other 2 entrees he wanted to try were both sold out). The sandwich was very flavorful but needed to be served on a crustier bread. The skillet pancake had good flavor but was so incredibly dense and could've used more bananas. Valentine's dinner was the straw that broke the camel's back. Out of everything that was offered, the only dish worth mentioning was the lobster pasta. It was spicy, pasta cooked al dente, and a fair amount of lobster chunks. We received our salad promptly but our pasta second course came out before the seafood starter course. We brought it to our server's attention and it still took a long time to receive it. Then we had another long wait for our main course. The steak was okay, mashed potatoes were good, but the peppercorn sauce absolutely ruined the meal. There were too many peppercorns in every bite. Also the Nutella flan they offered for dessert was a far cry from a flan. It wasn't good. I would've preferred their regular desserts as an offering. Service was very lackluster. Overall, I'm very disappointed. I really wanted to love antique given that it has been voted best restaurant in Hoboken, but the service and food are both subpar.

While one can order ala carte, the restaurant's focus is the four-course prix-fix menu, which we and everyone around us ordered. The cocktails were spot on. I had the "Smokey," an excellently balanced, mescal-based sour on the rocks. My wife had the "Lemon," a bright gin beverage served in a coupe, reminiscent of a French 75. This was the first of the two decisions one has to make. The next was the entrée. I chose the Hanger steak. My wife, the branzino. The third option is a portobello mushroom dish, the fourth a burger. The food started with an amuse-bouche of broth from a French Onion soup and fresh bread served with soft butter and a ratatouille-like spread, moving on to an ample Champagne vinaigrette-dressed mesclun salad, which had large leaves of perfectly crunch lettuces, herbs, and other field greens. Then, began the unlimited service of simply excellent fries, taken straight from the fryer into a seasoning bowl and piled high into a wax paper-lined stand in the center of the table. Rounds and rounds and rounds of fries that are hard to stop eating. No ketchup. A stand of 6 sauces, from Au Poivre to Béchamel to an Aioli. The perfectly cooked mid-rare steak--better than some steakhouses I've been to came, and my wife's branzino, well seasoned, moist and with crispy skin (which I got ). Pleasantly gorged, we were finally served the berries and cream. Not too heavy and just the right amount of sweet. The only fault, my Cahors didn't come on time. The usually attentive staff didn't pick up on my looking around for the waiter. Half my steak was gone by the time it arrived. Still, it was a brilliant meal, in elevated environs.
