Jason at the bar, made the best Irish Coffee we've ever enjoyed! Thank you Jason! Excellent craft cocktail = Good for a cocktail in the evening. 2 stars for Breakfast = Hard pass. Might be because we came in towards the end of breakfast - but - the food was underwhelming. I had French toast, it was so hard, I gave up on cutting it. Scrambled eggs were dry, bagels was so hard we didn't bother with them. Coffee was good. Service was good. Lovely, calm environment. read more

The Scarlet Vetter says......it had been almost long time since I had been at this establishment. I just love the vibe. Located in the TRYP hotel in Newark New Jersey. It is a great place to get some terrific food and a cheery cocktail. I was by myself for a business trip so I sat at the bar and was waited on by a very personsble server named Elvis. The food was very good (wide ranging selections) and I loved my Aperol cocktail. I may have to go back tonight! read more

Absolutely love the ambiance of this place! Very very well designed. After looking at the other views I wish I had come here during the evening time for their food. I came for the breakfast buffet and I wasn't a fan at all. to me the food wasn't good, not flavorful enough for me. However, I still enjoyed myself because it was so cute in there! read more

Dutch's Lounge - Goregous inside!!! - Lounges Near Me - Newark, New Jersey

I was really debating on leaving this review. However after going over my bank stamens for the last 6 months . I have spent a total Of 5,378.00. Drinking and tipping in this establishment. I would like to say the restaurant itself is clean , the food is good , the drinks are good. My problem is with supervisor/manager of the staff . His name is Felix . I'm for certain he is a racist , and has issues with. It only African Americans but women especially . Felix has disrespected me on a many of occasions, and I have to tell you you I'm flabbergasted that he is even in charge to run this establishment. He is mean , old , rude , and he watches african Americans like hawks . While white people get privilege of peace of mind. There are so many places I can spend my money at downtown Newark . read more

Loved the vibe of this lounge inside of Tryp Wyndham hotel. I ordered the flatbread and wings (pretty basic, right) BUT it was delicious. For starters my friend and I ordered calamari and ceviche and they both were a hit. The drinks were delicious read more

I went there to taste a few items from the menu because I am looking for a venue for a party. This place did not disappoint; my favorite was the short rib tacos, so delicious. The ambiance is sleek and sexy, perfect for a small affair. read more

Dutch's Lounge is located inside of the TRYP by Wyndham hotel which makes it very convenient if you are staying there. I came here to meet some girlfriends for dinner and drinks. I felt the staff rushed us a little - I can't put my finger on it but I felt negative energy from the staff. The food was very good and they had a creative spin on tacos. We decided to order one of each type of taco and share with each other so we can try everything. We also ordered a side of the truffle fries. I am not a fan of truffle but I have to say these may have changed my mind. I asked for a spicy margarita - my favorite drink, made extra spicy (because no restaurant/bar can ever get it right) and this actually had a bit of a kick to it! I was pleasantly surprised. Besides the staff, I had a nice night out. read more

This place was awful. I was staying in the hotel and went down for the breakfast buffet which ends at 11 AM. The food had been consumed and very little replaced. What was thee was pretty bad. It took me 20 minutes to get a cup of coffee that was lukewarm. The two woman working were completely inattentive and spent the whole time looking at their phones. read more

I attended the jazz and jokes event that is held the last Friday of the month. After seeing the post, I decided to make a reservation for two. We arrived at 7:30 for the 8:00 show. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly security guard that led us to the well decorated lounge. This is where it goes bad! I did not have a reserved table, there was no host, but we were sat by the event planner. After sitting for too long,we had to go to the server station to order food. Once I did that, we got a lovely young lady that was very attentive. We ordered coconut shrimp, cheese charcuterie, and popcorn chicken. It took along time for the food. The flavorless shrimp were laid on a bed of wet lettuce. Making the what should be crispy shrimp soggy. The cheese charcuterie came with red peppers, olives and toasted pita. The popcorn chicken presentation was the best thing. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The food is overpriced. I was told that it was the second year for this sold out event. It felt like their first night. There was a lot of confusion about seating and the friendly staff was overworked. The planner and the manger need to address this issue to make the night a good experience. *jazz band and comedians were great. *3 stars for servers and decor Nothing for food read more

Perfect portions, inside TRYP Hotel. I ordered the fried calamari which is served with two different sauces (Marinara and Sweet Chilly, both delicious) I also ordered the caprese salad which also delicious, perfect portion, perfect taste. The customer service is alright. Went in during the day so it was pretty quiet but at night it's popping. read more

The food here is decent. Nothing to fancy even though the prices are pretty high, like in most hotel restaurants. If you pick some of the smart choices though, you can have a nice meal that isn't too expensive. Try a flatbread and a salad for example. The service was fast, but I must say we were the only one's eating there that night. The ambiance inside is pretty cool, from the lighting to all the nice furniture and the old tile floors. The chairs are really comfy too. Bathrooms are downstairs and are really nice. If you're staying at the Tryp it's a decent place to go especially since there are no restaurants around the hotel. That's why I gave them 4 stars instead of 3 since there's almost no competition. read more

Me and my wife went to this restaurant to eat and have drinks with a friend. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:50pm and waited by the hostess stand to be seated. No one was there. But I did notice most of the tables were messy with half eaten food and drinks, which did not look good, but I went up to a waiter to see if the hostess was available. He said there was no hostess and he would seat me in a minute. We waited 15 + minutes at the hostess stand and no one came. My friend arrived and at that point we were somewhat fed up with the restaurant. If getting seated is such a hassle, I couldn't imagine the ordeal it would be ordering food and paying the bill. we all left to a nearby restaurant and had an amazing time. I would give this place a one star, but the ambience was nice and we wish we could've enjoyed the restaurant, but it looks like they didn't want business that night. read more

The food was very good. Pricey, but not overpriced for the quality. However, this was the worst service I have ever had in any restaurant in my life. We were at our table for 20 minutes and no one ever came over. I finally went to the bar to get water and was given attitude by a rude bartender. We flagged down the host to ask for a waiter. The host took our order without apologizing or even basic courtesy. He just asked what we wanted and walked away. They brought us the wrong drink while the guy at the next table complained of lipstick on his wine glass. The food was delivered by the busboy without a word, and 15 minutes after we finished eating I finally had to go to the bar to pay our bill. We literally never had a waiter at a $30 per plate restaurant, and no one ever said please, thank you, I'm sorry, how can I help you, would you like a refill, can I get you something to drink or anything resembling courtesy. The food is good, but get it to go. read more

I'm not certain why there are so many "unclaimed" Yelp pages in upper East coast- but this swaggy spot tucked away @ the Tryp by Wyndham Hotel (Newark, NJ) is pure 5-Star. From its posh interior design, to a comfortable breakfast menu, or an evening jalapeño Margarita, Valentino (general manager) did an exceptional job all around. Dutch's (as well as Tryp) is a must-visit if you're in downtown Newark. read more

First time visiting this new restaurant/lounge. It's in the TRYP Wyndham hotel close to NJPAC and short walk to Prudential Center. We chose to have dinner before a show at the Prudential. It's a great place for dinner or just drinks/happy hour. The atmosphere is a lounge theme but the food and drinks were also good. Would definitely be a go-to the next time we are in the area. read more

Jason inspired me to leave this review as he provided some of the best service I've ever experienced. And the shrimp tacos were delicious. I was only stuck in NJ due to missing a flight, and I had a bad experience with the hotel's shuttle. But Jason's remarkable and uplifting service made it all worth it. Even after I left the restaurant and passed him outside while he was on break, I didn't want to bother him, but sure enough, we had another great interaction. I could see why other patrons showing up already knew him by name. The place also has a cool vibe all-around. read more

We went to Dutch's as a group of 4 before the Air Supply show at NJ PAC. Chose this place because it is very close to NJ PAC (5 min walk). We made a reservation in advance for 5pm & arrived on time. We were quickly seated, ordered drinks, received the drinks fairly promptly, then ordered our meals. So far so good. Unfortunately that is where the positives end. We drank our drinks and sat there for well over an hour with no further service of any kind. Our drinks were empty with nobody coming over to ask for another round, no update on our food order...nothing. Finally, at about 6:15 we were able to flag someone down....only to find out there was some kind of confusion on our order. Once we asked...then 2 of the 4 dinners arrived...but not the other two. When we asked yet again about 10 minutes later...the 3rd order was retrieved.....but nobody seemed to know what happened to the 4th dinner. By this time (already 6:30) we needed to leave to go to the show so we just asked for the check and then left after paying. We ended up only getting 3 of the meals (at different times) but 1 person did not get their dinner...and we only had the one round of drinks. No explanation from anyone as to what happened, no apology of any kind, no discount on the check...nothing. The waiter for our table never once even came back to the table to check on us, update us on the order, explain what happened...nothing. The only way to communicate with anyone was for me to walk up to the waiter counter to try to talk to someone. when I did that, our waiter wouldn't even respond to me when I asked what was going on....he actually just walked away from me without even acknowledging me. I have no idea what happened here....but I have never seen such horrible service in a restaurant before. The place wasn't even very busy so that wasn't the reason. It is too bad because the food was actually pretty good (for the meals we did receive) and it is close to the Performing Arts Center. read more

Awesome hidden gem inside of the Tryp Hotel. Very good customer service excellent and on point. S/O to Jason the bartender. The bacon wrapped scallops and Greek salad are the best! If you are in the Newark area definitely stop by. read more

Food was decent..had a chicken alfredo penne, wife had smoked salmon pasta, but the service was terrible. Got seated immediately, then a 10-15 minute wait before anyone came to us. After finishing, we waited 30 minutes to get someone to come to us. So much for the 2nd drink we were hoping for. Once we flagged someone down to bring the bill, it has an 18% 'Large Party' surcharge...for 2 of us! I asked the waiter to remove it since it was 2 of us, no large party here. He proceeded to take off the 'Large Party' description but then still charged us the surcharge. He ran off so quickly i did not have time to stop him and we got stuck with it. $100 for an ok meal and crap service that leaves you ignored. Too bad, as I am staying at the hotel a few days and will now refuse to eat at that restaurant again. read more

Friendly staff. Beautiful set up! The food was ok - ordered wings and fries to go. Food may have been better if eaten when fresh.

Location: This is the restaurant inside the Tryp Wyndham. It's got this modern chic setup going. When I came in for dinner and breakfast, it was pretty much a seat yourself setup. Staff: The staff is friendly and accommodating. They're attentive but not overbearing which is perfect. For my dinner I asked for truffle fries with my burger and my waiter was kind enough to just substitute the fries that come with the burger with truffle fries. He was very nice. Food: The food is good. The burger was cooked perfectly. The truffle fries didn't really taste like truffle oil so that was disappointing but otherwise the fries tasted good. When I stopped in for the breakfast buffet (~$15), they had bagels, toast, pastries, scrambled eggs, French toast, sausages, oatmeal, some fresh fruit and yogurt. Cool place to probably hang out for a happy hour as they had a bar in the back with 2 TVs. It doesn't seem to get all that crowded ever. read more

Food was good, but had to approach the staff 5 minutes after seating for a drink, as the staff were preoccupied with their cell phones. Ordered the Mediterranean platter, which should have included baba ganoush. When we pointed this out to the server and asked if they had possibly run out, the answer was 'I guess so'. Bartender made possibly the best tasting Cosmo I had ever had. 20% discount for 'Happy Hour' , 4. - 6, which was a bonus. read more

Great food, drinks and service if you are looking for a quick bite to eat before attending NJPAC

Goodies First: attended a Networking event here and I was impressed by the Decor and the atmosphere. Thought this would be a great spot for entertainment, dancing and music. The event went great with the assistance of the wait staff and the food. The food was great. The wait staff was accommodating and the the vibe was wonderful for our event. Bitter After Taste: The spot was empty. I can see it was a new spot and a friend explained it went thru several renovations from what it previously was. I think the all the money went into the decor but I haven't heard about anything from this place let alone known anybody that has been here. The space has a lounge/kitchen/ bar kinda feel but it does feel like it needs to be extended with another part such as a dance area or a staging area (which it is not) I will be on the lookout for any updates on this place. read more

I've visited the Dutch's Lounge now three times, the ambience is chic, modern and cozy. The Ladies room clean, smells great with lots of mirrors & even some seating. The menu selection of appetizers and Entrees however, seems limited but doable. The Parking lot is attended and well lit adjacent the lounge. It's a great spot for a safe mature outing. Our waiter and bartender Jason was knowledgeable professional and extremely efficient and accommodating he made great wine recommendations and goes out of his way to ensure guest experiences are stellar he totally deserves a raise in my opinion!!!! My only suggestion Mr Valentino (owner) is to please add "hot chocolate" and Bailey's Irish Cream & "hot coffee "with Baileys Irish Cream to the menu of hot alcohol drinks available. I had a Hot Chocolate with Baileys and it was served improperly in a wine glass be sure it's served in the correct glass mugs topped with whipped cream especially during the cold winter months, so guest can enjoy this popular delicious, sweet cold weather option. Otherwise, I enjoyed my visits there and hope to return read more

The wait staff here is pretty friendly and that is the only plus to this place. I also thought that the food was well prepared, although lacking in choices. I think that there may be some issues with management. They held a very loud party in the restaurant the last night I stayed in the hotel. While I had no issues with the fact that a party was held there, it seemed to be that all of the attention was given to the party and none to the other guests. I was also surprised that management allowed the music to be played so loudly well into the night such that dinner guests could not eat in some semblance of peace. I waited for ten minutes before anyone came to see me and I was doubly upset because it is hard to get anything in Newark after 9 AND I was a guest in the hotel. I also noticed that the other dozen or so guests were also waiting on the staff to pay attention to them. Since the food is slightly overpriced and the menu is largely lacking in choices, I left to brave Newark for another option. I think that this restaurant has potential but could be polished a bit more in the thoughtfulness for all of its guests. read more

do disappointing. Tryp hotel does itself a disservice by having this place. It looks good, but the food is terrible. The only breakfast option is a $16 buffet. But the buffet is a nothing-burger- it is the same level that you get for free at a crappy roadside motel. Limp sausages, mediocre fruit, soggy eggs. It is so lame. And they give no option to buy something a la cart. They literally try to trap you into a terrible meal. read more
