I was really debating on leaving this review. However after going over my bank stamens for the last 6 months . I have spent a total Of 5,378.00. Drinking and tipping in this establishment. I would like to say the restaurant itself is clean , the food is good , the drinks are good. My problem is with supervisor/manager of the staff . His name is Felix . I'm for certain he is a racist , and has issues with. It only African Americans but women especially . Felix has disrespected me on a many of occasions, and I have to tell you you I'm flabbergasted that he is even in charge to run this establishment. He is mean , old , rude , and he watches african Americans like hawks . While white people get privilege of peace of mind. There are so many places I can spend my money at downtown Newark .

Loved the vibe of this lounge inside of Tryp Wyndham hotel. I ordered the flatbread and wings (pretty basic, right) BUT it was delicious. For starters my friend and I ordered calamari and ceviche and they both were a hit. The drinks were delicious

I went there to taste a few items from the menu because I am looking for a venue for a party. This place did not disappoint; my favorite was the short rib tacos, so delicious. The ambiance is sleek and sexy, perfect for a small affair.

Dutch's Lounge is located inside of the TRYP by Wyndham hotel which makes it very convenient if you are staying there. I came here to meet some girlfriends for dinner and drinks. I felt the staff rushed us a little - I can't put my finger on it but I felt negative energy from the staff. The food was very good and they had a creative spin on tacos. We decided to order one of each type of taco and share with each other so we can try everything. We also ordered a side of the truffle fries. I am not a fan of truffle but I have to say these may have changed my mind. I asked for a spicy margarita - my favorite drink, made extra spicy (because no restaurant/bar can ever get it right) and this actually had a bit of a kick to it! I was pleasantly surprised. Besides the staff, I had a nice night out.

I attended the jazz and jokes event that is held the last Friday of the month. After seeing the post, I decided to make a reservation for two. We arrived at 7:30 for the 8:00 show. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a friendly security guard that led us to the well decorated lounge. This is where it goes bad! I did not have a reserved table, there was no host, but we were sat by the event planner. After sitting for too long,we had to go to the server station to order food. Once I did that, we got a lovely young lady that was very attentive. We ordered coconut shrimp, cheese charcuterie, and popcorn chicken. It took along time for the food. The flavorless shrimp were laid on a bed of wet lettuce. Making the what should be crispy shrimp soggy. The cheese charcuterie came with red peppers, olives and toasted pita. The popcorn chicken presentation was the best thing. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The food is overpriced. I was told that it was the second year for this sold out event. It felt like their first night. There was a lot of confusion about seating and the friendly staff was overworked. The planner and the manger need to address this issue to make the night a good experience. *jazz band and comedians were great. *3 stars for servers and decor Nothing for food

The food here is decent. Nothing to fancy even though the prices are pretty high, like in most hotel restaurants. If you pick some of the smart choices though, you can have a nice meal that isn't too expensive. Try a flatbread and a salad for example. The service was fast, but I must say we were the only one's eating there that night. The ambiance inside is pretty cool, from the lighting to all the nice furniture and the old tile floors. The chairs are really comfy too. Bathrooms are downstairs and are really nice. If you're staying at the Tryp it's a decent place to go especially since there are no restaurants around the hotel. That's why I gave them 4 stars instead of 3 since there's almost no competition.

I'm not certain why there are so many "unclaimed" Yelp pages in upper East coast- but this swaggy spot tucked away @ the Tryp by Wyndham Hotel (Newark, NJ) is pure 5-Star. From its posh interior design, to a comfortable breakfast menu, or an evening jalapeño Margarita, Valentino (general manager) did an exceptional job all around. Dutch's (as well as Tryp) is a must-visit if you're in downtown Newark.

A mixture of either old, sketchy, no sex appeal and rough around the edges. The dance floor was packed and the music was on point. There was some people that set up food in the back but it left a trail of an odor that was not appetizing. Drinks were ok at best but when I asked for a cup with ice it seemed to be an issue. Very off putting. Not quite sure what the issue was.... The bartender brought the manager over and I had to specify I wanted it for my beer. Yes, I'm a weirdo if I don't get a frosted glass, I'll take a cup with ice. The manager proceeds to ask me ; "So you want me to pour the beer into the cup with ice?" UMMM yes I don't mind pouring it my damn self but if it makes you more comfortable, knock yourself out. It truly didn't make a difference to me who poured it, I just wanted some damn ice to cool myself off! I'm not sure what type of sketchy and shady people they deal with but I am not the one. My boyfriend and I run a good tab on drinks, give me what I'm asking for and paying for! Meanwhile, I did not see just about any of the 30-40 people on the dance floor buy a drink. I then saw hookah's on a table and the price list. Unfortunately, they were not providing hookah service that night. So why have them out? Whewwww I love my house music community and love the Lincoln Park festival that is close to the bar but this past Sunday this bar and crowd missed the mark. The only redeeming factor was the DJ. I highly doubt I'd return unless it were to vibe out and dance to a DJ I reaaaaallly love.

The music and strobe lights were a going. Had to ask the individual behind the bar if they were open. He nodded his head and I took it upon myself to find a place to sit. He then followed me to my chosen sit with the menus (dinner and drink). While they physically have a bar, music and strobe lights it appears they do not have any type of liquor license. Also, they did not have most of the non alcoholic drinks on their menu. Mostly just can sodas. So i ordered ginger ale and the oxtail with a side of Jollof rice. When the food was served (see pick below) it came in a nice bowl and plate and plastic take away silverware. Quite the different dynamic. The Oxtail had great flavor, but the use of plastic silverware was a downer. The Jollof rice was bland, but ok. Overall, not sure I will be back. The music and strobe lights for dinner were not for me. I would come back for the oxtail, but think I will do a takeaway and use my silverware at home.

The vibe is nice but the food just does'nt wow me. We particularly choose Tinjune because of its proximity to the arena. Moreover, it's a convenient place for us to meet since we are coming from all over the tri-state area. Parking can be a little tough but it's doable. The establishment seems to be a mixture of a sports lounge and restaurant, offering a casual fare of entertainment including boozy brunch, opportunities to watch a game on their TVs, or simply catch up with friends over drinks. The menu features Asian fusion dishes with some caribbean and soul food influences. During our first visit in July, we stopped by during brunch. It was a lively vibe with a great live DJ, mature crowd, and an eclectic menu. We were seated at a booth in the corner of the dining area which was also in the way of sunlight. In addition, the fans above were not working which made the area hot. Nonetheless, we sat thru it as the alternative seating being offered was no better. We skipped appetizers and got straight to entrees. I ordered the General Tso Chicken with white rice along with water. It was'nt bad but it also was'nt great. Visually, the chicken was swimming in a lot of sauce. Moreover, the sauce was watery. The chicken seemed to be cuts of breast that were tossed in a sweet chili-like sauce, perhaps sautéed since the texture was mostly soft. I wish it had been fried first then tossed in the sauce to give it better texture. I liked the texture on the broccoli, it was cooked with a slight crunch just the way I like. When paired with the soft, white rice, things came together nicely. Fast forward to our most recent visit in November. On this visit, I decided to dive into the menu a bit more and have an appetizer and entree. To start off, I had the Thai Chili wings. They were delicious and prepared well. The wings had a nice crispy exterior and juicy flesh. The sauce was sticky and coated the wings well, just like I prefer. For the entree, I went for the Wok Stir fry consisting of Lo Mein and steak. Again, the meal was swimming in a lot of sauce. For me, Lo Mein should have a little sauce to it but this was more like soupy gravy. I could literally use my spoon to scoop out the sauce and sip it which altogether, makes the meal soggy over time. The veggies were bright and prepared nicely but I was'nt a fan of the steak. It tasted as if it was thrown in at the last minute, so there wasn't much texture or seasoning to it. A little more sear to it would've been perfect. In terms of service, that was ok. Some periods of our dining experience were slow and we struggled to get our servers attention at times. Pricing was fair and the portions reflected a good value but they charge 15% automatic gratuity and a surcharge for using your card which I'm not a fan of. Overall, I've had ok experiences. I was not thoroughly impressed by the food but it hit the spot in the moment. I would return for the convenience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit nor would I immediately recommend to others.
