This place is truly a hidden gem. My friends and I were headed to Seven Tribesman in Wayne, but realized it was closed for a private event. We did a quick search, saw Jersey Spirits Distilling and decided to give it a try. I would have never known it existed since it's tucked in the back of an industrial complex. From the outside, it looks small, but it's pretty spacious inside. When we were seated, our server gave us a brief history of the distillery. I love that it's family-owned and all of the ingredients are locally sourced from NJ. There are so many different cocktail options, and some of them were so creative in their presentation. Since I was having a difficult time deciding, I went with the Espresso Martini flight. It came with a Traditional, Pistachio, and Jelly Ring martini. I also ordered a cookie butter martini. My favorite was definitely the creamy pistachio martini. I am so happy to have discovered Jersey Spirits Distilling and can't wait to visit again soon! read more

Great place for some locally made spirits. This is a small local business. They are not pushy when you enter the tasting room. I ordered a pumpkin martini that I saw on instagram and than a Fluffer Nutter off their menu. All the spirits are made there. The ambiance is quaint and not noisy. They staff is very friendly and I plan on going back. The distiller was there and trying new ideas and letting those at the bar taste it. I highly recommend this place. read more

OMG I've found my new favorite place in the entire world and it's Jersey Spirits Distilling. I've been talking up a Jersey Spirits since a wifey and I stopped in here on a whim a few months ago. The first time we stopped in we were the only two in the place so the bartender did an entire tasting spread for us and their products were excellent. New Jersey rules don't allow them to sell food, but you can definitely bring your own. We loved their clear alcohols (gin, vodka and rum) and their 'hooches' (flavored vodka), but I think their bourbon needed some additional aging. The drinks they make here are very good and they are always experimenting with now combinations. Drinks are a little pricey, but we've been back 4-5 times and haven't been disappointed in the drinks, the bartenders or the friendly company in the place. Give Jersey Spirits a try! read more

PROS: This place was a very adequate place to visit. i'll just say that the people working there were very nice and patient with me so I will give the staff an A+ for hospitality. There was tons of parking, many liquors to choose from (all of which they made and have better quality ingredients, according to them), and the place was very clean and well kept. CONS: There was only one single bathroom that I saw which isn't good if multiple people had to go since they can hold about several dozen. The #1 issue I had is when I tasted several of their liquors they didn't taste good to me. Everyones tastes are different but the way they make there's doesn't taste as good as the liquor you get in the store despite using better ingredients. OVERALL: If you've never gone here before I do suggest coming here just to get it out of your system but I'm not big on coming back here. I prefer a normal bar over this but just to do it once I don't see there being a problem with that. Small and cozy, it's a spot that offers truly tasty distilled liquors: vodka, bourbon, gin, etc. I acquired a taste for hooch while I sat and perused the menu - free samples upon entering and in the cutest teeniest shot cups. Friendly service/staff, we were recommended personal and customer favorites before ordering. QR-code menu allows you to order more drinks without having to wave down staff. Quick and tasty! Between my husband and I we ordered the PB&J hooch, apple hooch, pumpkin hooch, white maple whiskey, holiday nip, and I believe a lavender/floral gin or perhaps vodka. My favorite hands down is the PB&J! I can't tell you how this really really tasted like you were eating a PB&J sandwich - I opted for a painkiller as my first cocktail, but the memory of the PB&J hooch trumped all else which made me order one on the rocks. Absolutely delicious! Literally dessert in a cup. My second favorite is definitely the maple whiskey - possibly had a sweet tooth this day, but memorable spirits in my book. Our first time and we had a Groupon admission for a flight tasting. It's casual seating and as soon as we sat we were welcomed by our server, with menus. We placed our orders. Shortly after lunch truck parked outside gave us a menu to order by texting it in. Cool right!! While our flights were serve a tour was about to begin. Server suggested we leave our belongings and head over to John (owner and founder). The tour was very interesting and John conducted it with such passion. We were very intrigued. Was walking by and saw the sign. Caught my eye cause it was my initials. I walked in and was greeted by Julie. She was awesome and knowledgeable about each liquor. This place is just amazing; if you think between the bullshit brewery next door and this place, GO TO DISTILLERY! Mark and Ashley are incredible people who explained the process of distillation. Mark showed us barrels, and even though we could not have a tour of the distillery, we could overlook the barrels from the entrance, and he was very precise in the description. The place has six flavored vodkas, a couple of gins, and a bunch of whiskeys. I tried a couple of beverages, and every one of them was excellent. My absolute favorites were coffee vodka, horseradish vodka, and maple whiskey. After trying horseradish vodka, I asked to prepare horseradish-vodka-based bloody mary with a shot of tobacco! It was just amazing! I am impressed; it was one of the best I ever tried. My husband got a maple syrup old-fashioned, which is fantastic! Came in after visiting Magnify Brewery (right next door) and were pleasantly surprised. The distillery and tasting room were bright and clean. The drink menu was diverse enough for any taste bud. The husband had a White Maple Whiskey neat and I had the White Whiskey also neat both $8. We wanted to truly enjoy the spirit before mixing it up. While tasting our attentive server made sure we didn't run out of Goldfish crackers, so much so we had to ask her to stop bringing more over because I have an addiction and literally couldn't stop eating them. This was the first time I've ever been to a distillery ever and I came here the other day with my boyfriend because we wanted to check out the jersey nectar after it was advertised online. We were given a sample and honestly it wasn't for me because it was much too strong for my taste on its own. So we decided to try the new cocktail they were making with it called honey crisp. And boy was I glad I didn't write it off. The drink basically tasted like fall in a glass with the apple and cinnamon notes. Next I had the painkiller, which I wasn't so much of a fan of because the orange juice was just too overpowering for me. And then last we both had the pumpkin ghost which was the best drink of the night. We swapped out the vodka with the crossroads whiskey and I wish I knew about this drink earlier into the night because the drink was SOOO GOOD. I think next time I go, I'll just stick to the pumpkin ghost. I'm sad this drink is only available for a limited time because if I could get this drink everywhere I would. The customer service here was great too, they were always checking up on us and were more than happy to cater to our requests. Definitely a good place to check out. FYI when you get here follow the signs for the distillery and if you're getting an Uber here you might have to help them with the directions. What a treat! Thank God for Groupon! I mean, I'd go here regardless of a groupon now but I may not have ever found it. The location is a little bizarre; you need to pull in where the google maps takes you but you have to pull behind a few buildings before you see signs for it. Any who- the place is really cozy. We happened to have one of the best bartenders. He was really chill and pretty funny. The groupon we went ther eon included a tasting for 4 and a tour. The spirits are unique and yum! Their rum and gin are not like those I've tasted before, pretty cool and enjoyable. They've won multiple awards as well. The tour was given to us by the wife who owns the place (with her husband). She very knowledgeable and super friendly. It's a really cool place to go for a change of pace or even just to sit and the bar for a convo. They do classes and events too! What a cool distillery. Small, restaurant style bar in the front. With a lot of liquor behind the bar. So many different flavors to choose from. They have cocktails to choose from or you can create your own. Many of which were super tasty. Came here to use a Groupon for a shot flight and a tour for 2. What a great deal! Each flight consists of any 3 shots. The shot can be straight liquor or one of their cocktails made into 2oz. The tour was informative and gave me a lot of information on the making of vodka and Gin. They use 12 point distillation, which makes their liquors more flavorful. The coolestt part of this trip was the fact that they had a taco food truck stationed right out front. Had a lot to drink, feeling hungry, walk right outside and indulge yourself. And my wife LOVES her some tacos, maybe even more than she loves me lol. read more

Oh my, 2nd stop our Northern Jersey Distillery Tour for June 5, 2021. We were impressed with the spirits here as we were all day. JS specializes in making 'Hooch' that taste absolutely delicious. It isn't as strong as usual spirits but it is enough to feel a buzz. They make a PB&J (Peanut Butter & Jelly) cocktail that is delightful, a Apple Pie Hooch that is divine (had to buy a bottle to bring home). It taste like apple pie, so good. They make various cocktails to try with their housemade spirits that are so delicious! Definitely put this place on your list to visit. read more

Had a wonderful time here last weekend with some friends. We got the Groupon, which was $10 and included 3 shots, a shot glass and a tour. I thought the tour was a perfect time (short) and the shots were different and cool to try out. They all came on a little NJ wooden board. The staff was friendly as well. Ethanol boils at 170 degrees, that's the key lesson from the tour lol. The stills at Jersey Spirits are stainless steel plus just enough copper "wool" to trap the sulfates thrown off by the yeast. Dave taught us the basics of craft distilling, like how to discard the acetone that comes off first, deal with the "fores", capture the "hearts", and how to increase the heat when the "tails" start flowing. Let us smell samples of all of the above, that was the right way to geek out. Also explained how many plates to put in the fractional column still, which yields about a gallon per hour so they work some LONG days here. Free tastings of the gin, white whiskey and rum. The engineer in me enjoyed the tour more than the drinker in me enjoyed the spirits, the gin was very close to sambuca, just too much licorice for a g&t. Unfortunately for me the gin still wasn't set up that day. Rye whiskey coming when they get an externally heated still. Hidden way in the back of an industrial park, absolutely no signage guiding you to the alcohol, just keep driving towards the back and look on the right side for a bit of neon in windows. read more

Writing this after recovering from a hangover via the rum flight. Originally came to visit Magnify Brewing, but upon noticing Jersey Spirits next door, had to drop in and give it a try. Got the rum flight which came with a white rum, maple rum and a bourbon (since they didnt have a 3rd rum, I subbed for a bourbon). Tasty and definitely sip worthy even for a minimal hard liquor imbiber like myself. The maple rum was my favorite - thick syrupy mouthfeel with a nice lingering sweetness. Atmosphere is cool and one of the owners was bartending. I'll be back! read more

The bloody Mary trio is great. The service is ok. I have had some great experiences and some were a bit rude with one staff member in particular. The prices are ridiculous!! Way too high. This is a great local distillery that makes some very interesting products. The vodkas are excellent - locally sourced ingredients and flavorful. The pepper vodka has a kick! I liked the cucumber vodka and it was really good in their bloody mary taster. Couldn't even finish the pepper one - too spicy for me, but if you like hot and spicy - this could be a good one for you. Their collection of hooches are excellent and a nice treat. We've tried the Bug Juice, Wedding Cake and the Cherry Smash - all were excellent. Ever since I came upon this distillery's groupon for packaged tasting and drinks for 2, I've been hooked! The people are so friendly here inclusive of the bartenders, owners and their family. I guess who wouldn't be friendly when you get to try booze infused with a variety of things all day long and get paid for it right? I've come here 5 times since my first visit earlier this spring, and every time I come I take their informational tour. I really think this is the best part of this place. A cocktail and a lesson on how booze is really made! Its a great place to also bring guests from out of town, I've brought many here and they've all seemed to love it. So yeah, this place is going places. I wandered in by myself last week around 1 PM and found a totally empty tasting room, which in some cases would be cause for awkwardness. But they were totally friendly and welcoming. I tried their rum, their bourbon, their vodka, and their gin--I'm not a vodka person, but even to my palate, it is dangerously smooth and especially tasty. Their gin is fruity and has just a hint of licorice, and the finish of the bourbon is textured and spicy. After about half an hour a family walked in and we ended up taking a tour. It's a small place--everything is pretty much made in the back room, and that's all there is to it--but despite the lack of walking and the shortness of their history (they only opened last August), I learned and saw a lot. As a recovering chemistry major from college I loved seeing their distillation apparatus and stages. They have a smaller still for test runs and a large one for full batches, and they configure it with up to 12 distillation stages. At the time they were running their rum, and we got to try it at distillation strength, which I've never, ever done before. It was warm, savory, and rolled around the tongue--the type of thing that they tell you you should drink by the fireplace to warm up during the winter. I think they said it was 70% alcohol? This made the experience for me. This is what I like to think of when I read "small batch"--just a couple people who actually try all the product and tune it until it's amazing. There are plenty of goldfish (the snack) and cups of water available to refresh yourself between tastings... and I think the only rule is that if you taste too many things they make you take the tour. By the time I left 2.5 hours later, it was hopping with people. Altogether I spent $70: two cocktails, a 375 mL bottle of bourbon, and a 100 mL gift-sized bottle of vodka. Fair warning: this place is basically impossible to find if it's your first time. Once you turn off of 46, you need to drive around the different warehouses, and you'll eventually stumble across it. They're the door to the right of the Magnify Brewery. read more

Delicious cocktails/spirits. The Maple Whiskey and the Autumn Orange were particularly delicious. And the groupon deal for this place is awesome (2 tasting flights, basically 3 double shots each, and 2 shot glasses to take home for $24ish after tax? Yes please). I have now been there twice and have used this deal to sample many of their various spirits and concoctions. Also took the tour, and John, the owner/distiller, is incredibly knowledgeable about the entire process of creating rum/whiskey/vodka/gin/bourbon/hooch/etc. and a great teacher. They offer a barrel share program in which you can own part of a barrel of a spirit (the person who buys the first share pick what kind of alcohol). It's a cool program, but a little pricey (just under $500). But it's a really cool idea - you get 1 bottle un-aged and then 5 aged (each bottle is a 750 ML). Plus they chop up the barrel after and make a bar piece out of it (each share gets one), and hang the barrel head on the wall with the shareholders' names on them. And there's monthly tasting parties (so you can see how your spirit develops over the 6 months or so from distillation until final product so you learn both the process and how the flavors develop). I could see myself splitting this with 4 other friends eventually. The staff is friendly and they keep tables stocked with cheddar goldfish. I'm more of a beer guy, but this place is trying really hard, and succeeding a little bit, in convincing me that I should be drinking whiskey and rum too. read more

Ok.. so I am just loving this place, so much that I keep going back. And each time I go, I get a tour. They are not your standard scripted tour, the owners who I have each toured with were awesome. John and Sue are super knowledgeable and fun and passionate. I've been with friends for pre dinner drinks, date night with the hubby, and I've even had a Christmas gathering with another group of friends. The flights served on a very cool Jersey wood board are so good. Sue makes the best cocktails and I find myself thinking of the delish cocktails she shakes up during particularly hard days. ;) Seriously, a must try! You will not be disappointed. AWESOME place. I've never been to a distillery so this was a really cool experience for me. If you haven't been here before, you are required to take a tour of the facility and learn about the distilling process. (very interesting, however time consuming when you are ready for a drink!) We went on the tour and sat down at the bar. Very nice decor. Menu was extensive and the drinks were AMAZING. Very strong and the pricing is perfect. Pretty much $8 for most drinks. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful as well. I'll definitely come back. PS they don't offer food here, but had some goldfish crackers at the bar to snack on. This place is awesome as well as the family that runs it. It's great to see people's start. I can see this place going far. They have the smoothest Whiskey I have ever tried.
