Street parking but when I went on a Saturday night, I was able to get parking right in front so it was not difficult. I love that it's in a former bank and the merch area is in the vault- how clever! Staff is friendly. I got the hard seltzer flight which was delicious. I got the sparkling ginger, candy cane, cider donut and the mango one. My favorite was the sparkling ginger, which I brought home for my husband too. It tasted like a hard kombucha but not as fermented as a kombucha- it was delicious. I liked the candy cane and mango one too. I was a little indifferent with the cider donut because the syrup kept going to the bottom of the glass even after I kept stirring it, but that's okay! I still enjoyed the hard seltzers. It's a great atmosphere. We stayed inside because it was just too cold to go elsewhere. I highly recommend coming if you want a place to chill and enjoy a flight or glasses with your crew. read more

Brew Weekend stop #4 was an abandoned bank that just happens to make beer inside. It's got a strong Scottish theme going right down to the types of beers they brew and the names. A lot of NJians know the Wee Heavy, so I wanted to try their others. I can say that this place never really got crowded during the day, and I think I know why. #1- no outdoor area for dog owners. (More on that in the Czig Meister review.) But #2- the beer game just isn't as strong here. The English Brown and Irish Red were way too similar. In fact, all four beers I sampled had a relatively modest flavor profile that trended to the same mean. While it's not bad beer, it just didn't bring the complexity and depth I would seek in a dark beer. I think your IPAs and lighter lagers/ales would be just fine, but while I have nothing against these guys, it's not my choice to return to, so 4 stars it is. P.S. You can't call yourself Man Skirt and not even sell a kilt! That could have redeemed you. For everything else they offer, including custom-made 64oz and 128oz beer tanks, they're not called Man Tank. They're Man Skirt. And not a single staffer wore a kilt either. Sacrilege. read more

Great little brewery in Hackettstown. Street parking was all taken but there is a municipal lot just across the street. We were able to have drinks in one of the green house - igloos they have on the side of the building. All of the beers and seltzers we tried were pretty tasty, especially the coconut and grapefruit seltzers. We ordered delivery from a nearby restaurant and really made an afternoon of it. read more

Great time here at the Oktoberfest event! This place was extremely organized with all the chaos of the many people attending the event. They had sheets of paper with their beer & descriptions listed so that you could figure out what you want while you wait. The people working there were friendly & great at cleaning up the empty glasses. There was even beer taps at the outside beer garden which is fairly new. The outdoor space adds a nice ambience to this place & the beer was delicious! read more

We actually found out about this place because we originally went to go to the brewery around the corner...after stopping there and seeing a long wait for a table and a super long wait for a beer, we looked up other places nearby and saw Man Skirt only a short walk away! Let me just say, we 100% made the right choice by going to Man Skirt. Not only were we seated right away, but we were actually being served! No need to wait in a line just to get a drink. We were seated outside at a picnic table under a tent. When it started to get a little chilly, they brought out heat lamps! Of course, we had to get flights. With great seasonal beer options and a good variety of flavors for hard seltzers, we were not disappointed! My favorite was "Cinq You" - it tasted like fall in a glass! So good. Every beer I had was just amazing. I'm not usually a fan of dark porters, but I loved "You Made Me Ink". My family got all different flavors of hard seltzers and we loved every single one. You have to try this place and have to get flights! On another note, the service was awesome. They were constantly checking on us and we received our flights in less than 5 minutes. So I rarely give a place 5 stars, but this place deserves it. Service is second to none... amazing, super friendly staff, cannot get better, just can't ‍. The beer is amazing as well, well knowledgable staff and very attentive to dining needs. I would 100% go when James on Main, another 5 star experience serves food. I went with my gf and her friend and we all had an amazing time. The chef, a culinary ***ing master, is very friendly and gives off the vibe that... ready? Enjoys what he creates. Such a great experience. I cant recommend this experience anymore, if you see my other reviews, I try to be real 100%. Take your SO and some friends... grab a beer and food. HACKETTSTOWN: Man Skirt Brewing is another awesome brewery in town and allows dogs in their large tasting room! The space was formerly a bank and there's a real safe you can go inside and play some chess! There's cool art work on the walls including stickers from breweries from all over the place! Seeing all the reviews and pictures on Yelp got me to make the 1:45 hour trip up to Hackettstown from Toms River in order to experience Man Skirt Brewing myself. Man Skirt Brewing is unlike any other brewery in New Jersey. I cannot think of one that has such a cool atmosphere. The funky, friendly, off-beat crowd will really enjoy drinking beers at this place. Upon my visit I found the other patrons very down to earth and friendly. The staff, of course, was super welcoming, too. That is very important for me as a customer. Otherwise I would just buy my beer from the liquor store and drink at home. This place is all about the experience. Frequent visits are recommended. I imagine every time you go, you will find new antiques and oddities to discover in the former bank building. You can also easily get food, such as sandwiches, right within walking distance, as they are located right in Downtown Hackettstown. read more

The kindness of the brewery has nothing to do with the rating and perhaps a gluten free mama has no right to post on such a page however there are a few things he that could be done to enhance the experience. The location, an old bank is unique and eclectic however I felt it was bare bones. I would have loved warmth and also live music. Stopped here before our dinner down the road on a Saturday night. The bartenders were super friendly and fun fact - you can bring your dogs too! Wasn't packed so we were able to order a flight of 4 beers and get a table. The beers were all actually very good (says someone who has trouble finding craft beers they like that aren't IPA's) and the flights are perfect sizes to taste whichever beer you want to try. Would definitely go back next time were in the area and hope for a long wait again before dinner! Maybe would be fun with some games too for the table! For those who also are non-IPA drinkers- I had the Czechs and Balances, The Great Porter, Dubbel Pleated, and Badunkeldonk. read more

This place really puts out some decent beer, it's not my style low IBU w a higher malt and grain profile. However, what they do they do well. Man Skirt seems to traverse the realm between English Bitters and German Weiss. Have a fine beer right next to the mash & lauter tun, Joe the owner & brewmaster graciously answered my annoying questions while crafting 7 barrels of his Great Porter, which really is great. Eight beers on tap when we visited, I was delighted to find Altbier, very unusual for a microbrewery to make this style. Another great find was a Munich-style Helles lager, most little places won't bother with lagers, don't miss this yummy option on a hot day. The brewery and the tap room are all in the big two-story space that was once the People's National Bank. Admire the old vault with barrel-aged beers inside awaiting release. This also means you're sitting in the same room where the man is heating hunrdeds of gallons of pot liquor (hot water to you and me :) to 160 degrees, not to mention boiling the wort in prep for hops, so the cooling system is, uh, overtaxed. No outdoor seating. There is no formal tour, just a card explaining the process. You can see the pumps, kettles, fermentation and bright tanks rightt from your chair, and as mentioned you might even be watching the brewing process from said chair. The man was NOT wearing his skirt when we visited, for safety reasons when working around boiling water, but the bartender was appropriately clothed. Me, I wore shorts :) Bring food. No TV, so don't expect to keep up with your favorite sports event. Nautical theme painted on the interior is modeled after the tatts on the owner's arm. read more

I like the interior of the brewery, felt almost like a cross between a beer hall and a cafeteria. Came here for the Groupon deal, ten dollars for a flight and a empty growler (they let you sub out for a glass if you want). I did not like that they only gave you the flagships for the flight, they won't let you choose any of the other beers on tap. I was not blown away by any of the beers, but they were all solid. We stopped in to this small brewery on a sleepy, rainy, Sunday afternoon. We were the first patrons of the day and enjoyed meeting Joe, the owner who runs this one man operation(except for someone who helps pour sometimes). This brewery is in a former bank and is a pretty pared down space. Joe, who wears a utility kilt (hence the name), was really friendly and had 5 beers on tap. His porter is the most popular and the husband's favorite. The German smoke beer was interesting and great for a sample. Our friends were impressed with the beers as well. Cool brewery in Hackettstown, nice corner location and plenty of street parking around. We were in the area after a wedding in Sparta so we decided to check out a local brewery near by. Very spacious inside, more so than most breweries. Lots of table space and cool mural designs on the wall. The guys working were super friendly and helpful, offering anything we wanted to taste and try. Since they don't have food(none in nj do) they offer menus from local spots to be delivered and encourage patrons to order. We got flights and tried some of their IPAs, porters, some type of Oktoberfest beer and one of the saisons they had. Wish they had a sour option but I'll have to check back because it must be a rotating selection. Definitely a great brewery if your in the area. read more

I'm a beer snob, but before (and will be back after COVID), this place became my Cheers. Danny and Joe are great guys and super friendly and host a really friendly atmosphere where people are encouraged to mingle. This is not a brewery where you're going to get a lactose infused pastry apple pie lagerIPA. These guys simply make good beer. It's not complicated; it's not hip; it's not necessarily the 'current trend', but every single beer I've ever had here has been absolutely solid, true to style, like could easily win an award for being "Yes, this is an IPA, and it's a freaking good IPA and there's not a bunch of other stuff trying to distract you from making a good IPA". As they say, no pants, just great beer, though Joe needs to be pressured into wearing his kilt more. They don't serve food, but you can order in. Personally, since they're like.... a block from Marley's, which is a whole other review for how bomb their chicken wings are, that would be my recommendation. Can't wait until their hours are back to normal, the world is back to normal, and these guys will be my Thursday night go tos again. read more

Man, I totally love this place! Growing up in Hackettstown, there was never much to do, so having new places like Man Skirt to hang out in as an adult is pretty awesome. Joe and his staff always go above and beyond to make you feel like family the moment you walk in his brewery. Their beer is excellent, the artwork on the walls is beautiful, and the atmosphere and company are top notch. My husband threw me a surprise 30th birthday party in their upstairs room this past April and it was AWESOME. Very spacious and private. Can't recommend this place enough! I came to Man Skirt last weekend with my boyfriend after purchasing a Groupon for 2 flights, growlers, and a tour. We were very impressed! Very welcoming and open atmosphere. Plenty of other people came in with bags of chips, take-out food from local restaurants, and other snacks. We also loved seeing a few dogs! Staff was incredibly friendly. The flights came with 4 beers. Man Skirt had a total of 9 beers on tap during our visit, and happily added the extra beer (included 5 beers in one of our flights) so that we could try them all without any added costs. Highly recommend the IPA-- delicious!! At the end of our stay, we had the option to choose between Man Skirt brewing glasses, empty growlers, or an additional beer. I absolutely love this place. It used to be an old bank so the inside is really cool with an old vault and decorated ceiling. The Porter beer is fantastic. The beer and service are very good, but they need to put some money into the decor. The building is very cool as the brewery is housed in an old bank, complete with a vault door. But the seating is at folding chairs at fold up tables and there isn't much to look at inside beside the brewing equipment. A little furniture and decor upgrade would go a long way.
