I had this place on my "wings are good, try this out" list. The short answer is: wings are good, but not enough to pull you away to try them. The long answer: You have two choices with Emerald Corner. Take out orders of food to go, which I saw people do, or come to your local neighborhood dive bar. I do not recommend coming here to eat. For at least two reasons: 1. Much longer wait for food than I am used to at a bar. 2. VERY LOUD music playing constantly and people yelling over it. And then they turned on the TV even louder over the music! Headache city. One star for ambiance - if you like dive bars. If you don't, zero stars. Service is friendly enough but no one checked on me after handing me my beer (which was also a few minutes after I ordered) or let me know the food was coming. No one offered water or anything, but at least with the rings he offered to bring honey mustard. After all that, the food: Fried. Fried city. The wings are breaded and cooked hard, so they were perhaps the crispiest I've ever eaten. They were good wings, got 11 to my 1 lb order (typically 10), but overbreaded. And the hottest sauce (hot buffalo) barely registered on my palate. The rings were also fairly heavily breaded, but you get a good portion for your money on that as well. In the end, as much as I don't like going to Sharky's, I don't think anything will unseat them as the wings capital of NJ. And with one right near here in Clifton, if I really really need wings, that's the place to go. read more

This is a great dive bar with some delicious food. Came here to just have a drink and grab some fried goodies with my boyfriend on a Saturday night around 8. There were tons of tables open and they have a huge parking lot. The staff is friendly and attentive, I was impressed because it looked like there was only one waitress and she was doing it all. We went with the popcorn shrimp, which came with this horseradish dipping sauce and it was great. Disco fries had the perfect amount of gravy and cheese. For our meals we both got burgers, I got the sliders. Normally a slider is a tiny patty of meat but these we're definitely hefty and delicious. I'd definitely come back to try some other menu items when I'm feeling some fried goods. They also had a ton of drink specials. This is a great local spot. read more

The staff was very friendly and it is a small bar so it's nothing grand inside, but it has good food and good drink specials. my first reaction before parking was ? Uhm seriously? LOL it looks like a house, plus there's homes all around so you would never think this place was here. It's honestly a hole in the wall. BUT a GEM.. They have a decent parking lot. The drinks are good & cheap and the BarPie is just what you would want with a drink. The staff is very friendly and they have TVs all around so if you are looking to watch sports this place is it ! They also have a jukebox inside and a golf game. The only reason why this review gets two stars is because of a waiter on their staff that was inappropriately rude to our group of friends. I was so hopeful trying this place after reading so many positive reviews but what I encountered was not good. We arrived early and were greeted by the bartender, Jessie, who was a pleasure. We ordered wings based on her recommendation and they came out just as her shift ended. The new bartender served our wings but didn't say hello or ask if we needed anything (other than plates and napkins). It seemed the 2 new bartenders (Marissa and Tony) were focused more on writing their names on the drink board rather than checking in with their customers. We needed drink refills. The wings were super dry (way overcooked, stringy, and cold) and I wished someone would have checked in so they could have fixed it. We were done eating and our bones and used napkins were stacked up near us to be cleared but to no avail. They sat for a good 30 minutes before being cleared and keep in mind, no one asked us if we needed a drink refill. I thought that clearing our plates would signal the bartender to ask if we wanted anything else or the check. Neither happened. After another 30 minutes, we finally asked for the check. (Luckily, our conversation was good but not that good that we were able to forget that we were completely ignored by both bartenders.) I love a good dive bar but based on tonight's experience, I would never go back. The signature chicken wings were so dry, cold, and stringy and the service was awful. read more

As a fan of dive bars, I was excited to try this place when my friend told me about it. Let me tell you what occurred when I walked in. Some douche apparently named Danny came to check my ID. He walked away with it, and I watched him stare at it with two other morons for about 2 minutes. He proceeded to come back to me and tell me he had to keep my ID because it was fake. Umm, if I were to use a fake ID, it wouldn't be for this shit hole, believe me. Anyway, I told chode Danny he couldn't keep my ID because it was mine and I needed it to drive (obviously) and he responded "If it's real, why is it peeling? That means it's fake". Never heard of that, but I'd assume the corners are peeling because it's 8 years old and you're picking at them ‍ So since he told me I had to leave, I did. Found my passport in my car; it was expired but I just wanted to prove a point. Showed them the passport and they told me that that wouldn't work because it was expired (not that I cared) and that it's because I was from New York that I needed a second form of ID. Never require a second form, even at Jenks or Bar A. As if this isn't enough, a patron saw me visibly agitated and offered me a shot... To which one of the bouncer/bartenders agreed. After he just told me my passport wasn't valid either. Bizarre. Will never be back - Danny was a rude, incompetent douchebag who hates on New York, or IDs that aren't plastic. Great dive bar. Lots of locals, but they're very friendly (I'm technically a local to the area but not necessarily to the bar). Food prices are ridiculously good. I'm a fan of the grilled cheese and sweet potato fries ($4.50 +$1 extra for sweet potato fries instead of regular). It's just a sandwich, nothing fancy, but sometimes all you want is a classic grilled cheese. Beer is reasonably priced. I did suspect my beer was watered-down last night (I'm hoping it was just a one-off with the keg--If I go back and it's the same again I will have to lower a star), but they offer a lot of specials and bottled beer is an option. I do understand that only two bartenders were staffed ( are employees not being treated well) however I watched patrons being spoken down too ( want another drink and yours isn't finished?) I've never heard a patron being asked that. Idc how busy it is. If they're paying, let them buy and stack up as many full drinks to their corner as they choose. I had two drinks, usually my limit. However getting he second was hell. Their was absolutely no eye contact. Patrons around me were getting fed up. I almost didn't leave a tip, and I'm usually generous. Today we visited "emeralds corner" for a good time. I went with a friend of mine & was waiting for 2 more friends. we then met a couple who was sitting behind us & started mingling. When asked for the check the bartender "Jessica" had billed us with 1 tab ( for the whole group ). which by no means we mentioned that we were all together just bc we were all talking she felt the need to bill us all together. very unprofessional & very lazy. I need to thank my cousin for introducing me to Emerald Corner. It's so close to my house I'm surprised it's taken me this long to hit up. Your typical sports bar with good food and people.The beer selection is pretty standard but not too pricey. The first time I was here, we got the after 10pm appetizer special. 3 bucks for disco fries or chicken wings? Yes please. My favorite time to go is Wednesday night. Now, I've only tried their Prime Rib for 15 dollars (say what?) but will definitely try their other specials at around the same price point. (I actually may be going tonight, which would make it my third Wednesday in a row having steak for dinner here.) Since it's so close to home, I can expect to see some old classmates from high school which is great. Also, there's a golf and (I wanna say) deer hunting arcade game, but I have yet to try. I shouldn't expect much as far as seating goes in a bar, but seeing how I frequent here for the food and games moreso than the drinks, getting a table at busy hours is tough. They have wings available in like 20 different combos. Their burgers are juicy and filling. Their beers are cold and always flowing! DUMP. My merry crew and I went here for St. Patrick's Day. The place was filled to the brim with stereotypical guido trash. All they played was guido trash music. We were there for about 10 minutes when a fight broke out. There were 3 bartenders. The one female bartender charged a dollar extra per drink, even when signs on the wall clearly stated how much each costs. A real bitch attitude as well. The location is shady, located beneath Route 3, and adjacent to warehouses. We tried a variety of drinks. Nothing special about them. Their Coronas were horrifically skunked.
