Michael's Roscommon House in Belleville truly exceeded my expectations. Their French onion soup is easily one of the best I've had in New Jersey. The gratin was perfectly done, the broth was rich and flavorful, and everything tasted balanced and well executed. We started with a Tito's mule and a passion fruit margarita -- both refreshing and well made. The garlic and cheese Jersey wings with their house sauce were outstanding and full of flavor. The mac and cheese was incredibly creamy, generously cheesy, and finished with a golden crust that added great texture. The ribeye with spinach was cooked to the perfect temperature, and the blue cheese burger with bacon and onion rings had an amazing contrast between creamy and crispy. The mushroom pizza with extra cheese was another great choice. The menu offers Irish, Italian, and American options, so there's something for everyone. Terrible customer service, my wife and I went for dinner, the hostess was on the phone for 10 minutes I kid you not. Made us stand in the door way for more than 10 minutes never once looking up or telling us I sorry I'll be with you shortly. Then another couple came in again squeezed in by the front door. We had enough, and left, will never go back. The funny thing there were 4 girls doing nothing by the entrance. Common sense would have you interceded and seated us. His team went above and beyond to make the night special, and their kindness and attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I absolutely loved this place. Casually intense sports bar with food and service that'll blow you away. Somehow, we got lucky by getting the only table left in the back of the restaurant on a busy NFL playoffs Sunday evening. Parking was scarce, so I dropped everyone off and parked down the block. Inside is your typical sports bar with more tv's than your local Best Buy. Doesn't matter which part of the table you're sitting at, you have a good view of the game. Regardless of the fact that it was absolutely packed, I'm talking standing room only, service was absolutely phenomenal. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. We started with the nachos, wings and I got the French Onion Soup. Nachos were excellent. They didn't "overdo" the toppings as some places do thinking more is better. They were extremely flavorful and we didn't wind up with a pile of soggy chips at the bottom. I was able to sneak a wing in and they were very good. French Onion Soup was equally as good. For dinner, I got the NJ Burger, the kid got a cheeseburger and my wife got the Chicken Brushetta. Burgers were excellent. Very flavorful and cooked perfectly. The jersey burger came with Taylor Ham and melted mozzarella and a side of "Jersey sauce". I know the taste but I just couldn't put my finger on Ernst the sauce was made of. It was oddly addictive. I was able to get a piece of my wife's chicken brushetta and the chicken itself was excellent. The brushetta ingredients were fresh and very tasty. Especially if you like brushetta, this is a must try. Unfortunately, we were absolutely tapped out for dessert. This is a must try. Even more so if you want to watch a game while having an awesome dinner experience. read more

Stopped in here for some Apps, pizza, and a couple drinks for dinner. Loved the appearance of the place....nice Irish bar with plenty of TV's, great bar area and a quieter dining area with plenty of TV's as well. We chose the dining area with a good view of the Notre Dame bowl game. (To add to the evening they were victorious) Ordered a large bar pie with half mushrooms, nachos, and fried calamari. For drinks we had a Tom Collins and a bourbon/apple cider Christmas cocktail. The drinks were very good. Both the nachos and calamari were solid apps. The bar pie might have been best I've ever had....outstanding. The wait staff and entrance staff were great....attentive and pleasant. At times things are missing, over or under cooked, etc. I'm hoping that's just a consequence of demand. The chicken was perfectly thin and cooked just right. The balsamic pesto was absolutely delicious too. Fresh bread and mozzarella cheese, where can you go wrong? My boyfriend got the Reuben and he loved it, it looked great. We also got curly fries and chicken tenders which were delicious too. Their fries are well seasoned and addictive. The service was one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. The wings were close to inedible. Why were they so soggy? The small Caesar salad with steak was highway robbery. Jersey Wings, Hotsy Totsy Shrimp and Steamers in Garlic- Basil Butter was a great set of starters. Pork Chops Giambotta were perfect! Comfortable setup of tables well spaced out,no one too close. Came here last night after a craving for a pub burger. I've had Michael's book marked for a while and although this place is 10 minutes from home, I've only been here once for drinks so I've been looking forward to trying what is called "best burger". Ordered the jalapeño poppers to start with, they were over cooked with that minor burnt taste (not pleasant) but PIPING HOT! It burned the roof of my mouth. Then we placed an order for burgers. All burgers are al a cart on the menu so no sides are included. I ordered a cheeseburger (medium) with bacon. The other burger was just a cheese burger. The burgers were pretty good and piled high. I didn't like that the bun was not heated so the bun was cold and didn't seem fresh either. Didn't like that. We ordered fries with one burger and onion rings with the other to try both. The fries were nice and crunchy but again, didn't seem hot enough or warm enough. The onion rings were pretty good - liked those. Food was decent not great; just wish it was consistent. read more
