I've been to the former Eagan and sons. I think it was in West Orange. This is top-notch. My margarita was great and the customer service was too. I'll definitely be back.

My colleagues and I go to Egan's as our go-to spot for drinks, and the service and vibes never disappoint. The staff are very attentive and nice, and the space is perfect for both casual hangouts and nice dinners.

It's been a while since I found a spot with good vibes, great food, and the perfect setting to unwind after a long day. I came here with my coworkers after work, and the energy was just right. The maple buffalo wings were a standout, and the truffle mac and cheese with fried chicken was so good (I only wish it had been baked a little more and a bit less cheesy). The prosecco was exactly what I needed, and the staff was warm and welcoming. The space felt intimate, almost like hanging out with friends in my own backyard. We were lucky enough to snag an outdoor table, and it made the night even better!

Great vegan options and attentive staff :) cocktails are great and it can get a little crowded but generally the vibe is very cozy and I always love coming here

Egan & Sons is a fun bar to spend a weekday or weekend afternoon. The menu offers a lot of choices, and the atmosphere is laid back. There is a huge patio in the rear and a parking lot. We tried the muscles and fries - spot on. The salmon burger tasted delicious but was a tad messy; more than one napkin was needed. We absolutely loved the crispy chicken wings. We have eaten a lot of wings, and Egan & Sons serves some of the best we have tried! We will be back for the wings and will continue to explore the rest of the menu.

Beautiful bar with a small parking lot in the rear. Well decorated during the holidays and the staff is always friendly and will not rush you. Wings are a must!

Great food, service, and ambiance, especially in the summer. It's one of my favorite go to places in Montclair.

This is always such a nice place to go to. My husband and I went on a week night early evening and it was bustling - as usual. We were so happy that Paul was there to make us our favorite drink- Luke's Nightmare. Paul always greets us with a smile. He always seems to know what's going on and is always willing to help the young recruits. Thank you Paul!!

Fun Irish pub! Great for hanging out and watching games while grabbing a drink and bite to eat. Celebrating St. Pattys Day here is always fun as well. I like the outdoor area when the weather is nice. The food is good. I've enjoyed several different items including the cottage pie, variety of bar pies, burgers, and fries. Overall a nice chill atmosphere!

Wild mushroom rice bowl (yummm!!) and a lavender/lemon non alcoholic spritzer

Finally made it here after wanting to go for years. And was not disappointed. Beautiful location and interior, lovely back patio. Yummy wild mushroom rice bowl and lavender/lemon non alcoholic beverage. Perfect for a sunny spring afternoon I can see why this place is perfect for friends to get together

Raw burger patty reserved after complaining that it was raw.
    Rishaan O.

I went to Egan & Sons and ordered a burger medium -- what I got was raw. I politely sent it back, only for them to return the same exact patty, just thrown back on the grill for a bit. Still raw. At that point, I was in disbelief. Not only was the food unsafe to eat, but the service and attitude from the staff made it clear they didn't care. I expected better from a place with their reputation. Definitely won't be coming back.

Nice outdoor. Plenty of shade. Been here a number of times. Appys are like mains and mains are mainly generous. IPA (a few on draft and GTI (go try it). Pot pie, Rice Bowl and a Cobb Salad. Reuben Toast appy. Good.

WHAT DO WE WANT?? ACCESSIBLE SEATING!! WHEN DO WE WANT IT?! NOW!! Hot take: if there's going to be outdoor and patio seating, the chairs should be MORE comfortable not less so. Many a warm night out has been ruined by rickety chairs, seat arms that dig into my thighs, or seats with deep recline that cut circulation off to my short legs. I was disappointed when my party of 3 was seated on the patio and I had to wedge myself in the chair. Refusing to sit like that the better part of an hour, I had a fat pep-talk with myself (iykyk) and went inside and asked the hostess to swap me out for an armless chair. We subbed one of the indoor wood chairs for my seat and it was SOOOO much better. Like I can't even describe it. Idgaf what it is - you dear reader should feel empowered to ask for what you need. I am encouraging Egan as well as any other vendor I come into contact with this summer to incorporate armless chairs and bench seating in their outdoor seating options. Large people need them, folks with mobility devices need them - a range of paying customers need them. This is such an easy fix and a great way to signal to your customers that you truly "see" and value them. On to the food (since I could now breathe after changing my chair). The specials lineup was great. I added the onion rings with thousand island as my side dish to a grilled shrimp caesar. The other folks in my party had soft shell crab tacos and a shrimp tortilla salad. We had truffle Mac for the table. The salads were a bit bland and needed some salt and pepper but were refreshing on a hot spring day. The onion rings were fantastic! And I enjoyed the creaminess of the mac and I'm not usually a creamy mac person. I loved my drink, too. Service was attentive and the vibe outside was nice. I got a mix of sun and shade with the overhead umbrella. Given the choice I'll always go where I don't need to play musical chairs to be comfortable. However I am hopeful that Egan is receptive to this feedback and will make adjustments to move in the direction of more universal design.

Jameson and I'm so sorry I can't remember the beer

    Is there still happy hour?

Is the outdoor seating area heated?

as of two weeks ago, they had heaters outside for the outdoor seating.

Do they still host trivia nights? If so, what night of the week?

Trivia is Tuesday Nights at 8pm in the Cafe.

Would you recommend this place for a noon time lunch date?

I have had a lunch date there. There are at least three different "ambiances" you can choose from: the front and/or, which are a bit more bright with more customers and tend to be more families. The bar area has two tiny tables along that wall…

The reason I give it 3 stars is because I don't think they've ever gotten my food order 100% right. They make a tasty burger, but they always forget at least one requested topping on the burger. The menu says "lettuce, tomato, and onion on request" and even though I always request all three, I never get all three. If I ask for a different kind of cheese, I get American anyway. A lot of the time my receipt will have all of my requests on it, but the burger doesn't match. Also, they seem to have downgraded their onion rings. The old ones were awesome and were a major selling point for me as an onion ring enjoyer. The new onion rings remind me of Burger King. Overall solid spot with a nice Irish pub vibe. Waitresses are mostly cool and friendly.

Seating at the bar was a bit crowded. Jimmy the bartender was great in service but busy, but the seat I had was right behind the taps so I didn't have much space for the plate of food -- recommend getting a table next time or watch where you want to sit - plenty of space for a glass of beer, but not for a plate. The half plate of wings - a lot of garlic parm sauce on top, and while not the best wings (lacked any crisp), the sauce was nice and thick and heavy - albeit salty, but that's ok for wings. But after I gave it another shot later, I realized they take online orders. The estimated time here does seem to be off though, as I showed up about 5 minutes before the ETA and it was already sitting around being less hot. So maybe estimate picking up even earlier than that. When I came, the place was packed, but it was a game night. The kitchen/pick up area is way in the back, but I will say, their hot pretzel is fantastic. The flavor itself is good and crunchy, but with the cheese sauce, it was truly delectable. It was just pure thick cheddary liquid goodness. It also came with a mustard if you're that sort, but just the combo of pretzel and cheese makes for such a good and quick snack. They also have a trivia night promotion, so I'm interested in checking that out, but for bar food (even to go) is pretty solid.

We walked in and sat at the near-empty bar and were soon greeted by the bartender (woman with long brown hair), who also provided us with menus. After a few minutes, she circled back, and we ordered two glasses of water. Just seconds after ordering the waters, we were asked for ID. Unfortunately, I left my ID in my jacket, which I didn't have with me at the time, so I explained this to the bartender. We were then told that we could not sit and eat without ID (which I have never heard of in any restaurant I've been to... EVER). I left without making a big deal of it since I was hungry from my drive. Stopped here again on Saturday, May 16th, around 9 PM to meet up with friends before leaving Bloomfield for the night. We were told we could sit where we liked and were quickly attended to by one of the servers upon entry. I ordered a water, and my friend ordered the Six Points Burger with fries. This time, we were not carded until we decided to order beer/drinks. Additionally, there was a child in there, no older than 12 years old, eating with a parent/caregiver on this evening- ultimately proving the whole 'you need an ID to eat here' thing false... What can I say about Six Points after these two experiences?... There's a lively crowd in the evening times, and food seems decent, and it's in a prime location on Bloomfield Ave... but it's quite evident that (at least) one of their bartenders is prejudiced and seems to have issues with people of color simply trying to sit and order food. *I called Six Points on May 18th and asked to speak with a manager regarding my experience. I left my number with one of the employees who answered, and he also told me I would receive a call back- sadly, that never happened. To clarify, the employee acknowledged that my experience on April 18 should not have occurred, as I should have been allowed to order food. Lesson learned: Just go to Egans or Just Jakes in Montclair instead of Six Points Pub.
