First time at Sonoma Bistro Bar and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is super inviting -- they had a DJ playing live music which gave the place such great energy. The patio is definitely a highlight, spacious and cozy at the same time . Our food came out quickly and everything was delicious. Drinks were on point and the service was friendly and attentive. It's also a cool spot to watch the game while having dinner. I'll definitely be coming back -- Sonoma is a gem in the area!

We decided to try the sister location of Sonoma in Rutherford and we liked it for a nice casual night out. Welcoming atmosphere, good music, lots of TVs for sports. The ginger wings were good but I prefer them crunchy and I feel they were baked instead. My husband actually liked them better like that but I still prefer them fried. The drinks were priced well and every night they have happy hour until 10pm with apps at $10 and drinks around $7 at the bar. The service was a friendly and attentive and before we left they treated us to a nice cocktail shot!

Ordered: Guacamole en Molcajete (~$17): freshly made guacamole with avocado, jalapeño, tomato, onion, and cilantro, served with homemade tortilla chips Chicken Taco Spring Rolls (~$14): with Oaxaca cheese, chipotle chicken tinga, served with avocado crema Churrasco Latino (~$37): grilled skirt steak served with jasmine rice, black beans, sweet plantains, and cilantro chimichurri Mar y Tierra (~$35): 12oz skirt steak with shrimp, garlic sauce, served with Mexican rice, beans, and salsa verde Paella (~$45): on the specials menu Banana Creme Brûlée (~$12) Aya's take: A few coworkers and I decided to stop by Sonoma Bistro after work for dinner. I couldn't get the Churrasco Latino out of my mind, so I knew exactly what to order. Before we got into entrees, the Guacamole and Chicken Taco Spring Rolls were both well-made and great for sharing! The Churrasco Latino was delicious; I liked the skirt steak (although mine was overcooked and slightly tough in some bites) but the entree truly felt complete with the plantains and chimichurri. I also tried the Mar y Tierra although I didn't enjoy the mesh of flavors as much. The Paella was presented beautifully but again, the seafood was hit or miss in terms of freshness. It was definitely a lot of food; easily shareable among 2-3 people. I absolutely loved the Banana Cream Brûlée; the banana was subtle but still evident in each bite. I'm a sucker for banana-flavored desserts and this tasted like legit banana! The music was a bit too loud (it is a bar after all), but decent dinner spot if you're in the Nutley area.

So we decided to check this place out for cinco de mayo weekend due to the specials they advertised on social media. However, upon arriving, the waitress had no idea wat we were talking about. We went around 4:30 for their happy hour so we expected it to be pretty empty and we were right. However the service was very slow as if it were a packed house. PROS.....I specifically wanted to try the drink i saw on their page (pic) and it was pretty good. We tried their short rib tacos and that was really good as well. Cons....We felt like they false advertised the weekend. We were charged regular for the tacos not $5 as mentioned on their flyer. The classic margarita was not good. Highly tart acidic sweet n sour premix wit a lil tequila. Unfortunately this was a bad first impression at a new spot. We had planned to stay til the DJ came at night so they coulda made alot of money from me but we ended up leaving after the 1 drink and taco.‍

O.M.G!! What a find! My friend an I literally stumbled upon this place en route to somewhere else and I'm so glad that we did. The ambience is unassuming and welcoming (typical "bistro-y" feel, in my mind) but the crown jewel is the menu! Everything we ordered was incredible-- avocado toast, beef empanada, calamari-- was delicious! The cocktails (El Diablo) was perfectly made. Probably b/c the bartendress was awesome! (Woman knows how to mix!) Our server, Luis, was the nicest guy ever on the planet. The barkeep was also super cool and sociable, and mentioned they'll be updating their menu soon. So that means imma have to go back to explore more and stuff my face until they roll me outta there.

One of my girlfriends and I met up here for brunch and we arrived at about 1pm. We sat at the bar and was served by Natalie and she was awesome. We started out with drinks and I ordered the red sangria and it was made fresh and was tasty. My friend ordered the mango mojito which she enjoyed. For our entrées I wanted the burrito bowl with a protein but the upcharge for each protein including chicken was kind of ridiculous. You could either have the rice, pico, queso and guacamole alone for $19 or have something added including vegetables for a $7 to $10 upcharge which was unheard of, so I passed. I ended up getting the chicken sandwich and my friend got the veggie burger. When the food came out, mine came out first and my friend's was a little delayed so I waited to dig in. Her food came out like 10 minutes later pipping hot while mine cooled down but I ate it anyway. Instead of fries I got the side salad and there was something in the salad so I didn't eat it. The sandwich was pretty good though. The restaurant was gracious enough to comp my meal because of the mishap which I appreciated. My friend said the sandwich was good but it was a bit salty. I would of definitely gave this place more stars but the mishaps were a little issue but I would return again to give it another try. All in all we had a pretty decent time.

So-NomNomNoma Bistro. I ate at the Rutherford location several times, I even celebrated a birthday of mine there. So to say I was happy to hear them open in Nutley is an understatement. I had my last lunch of 2021 at Sonoma Bistro. A special meal shared with family and SB was the right choice. They had a special menu for New Years Eve Day which was mouth watering. Our server was pleasant, patient and attentive. The dining room is filled with natural light. The full bar stretched across one side of the room. Plenty of room so tables are not on top of each other. The food is delicious! The guacamole is fresh and flavorful. The fried cauliflower gives cauliflower a whole new take. The kids loved their sliders. My huevos rancheros was delectable! Looking forward to more nom nom nom at Sonoma Bistro!

Just like the one in Rutherford but closer and with a full bar?!? I can feel the pounds adding on! Let's see... The food - EXCELLENT! Oh man, same menu as Rutherford with slight variations on the specials. The Pernil special, easily one of the best I've ever had anywhere, this needs to become a regular menu option, I'll end up ordering it every single time. Tempura cauliflower is amazing! I can go on and on here, everything on their menu is awesome! The staff, can't have a better more friendly staff, Julio my friend, glad you stayed in the area! The bar, great selection and the drinks are on point, that old fashion was perfect.

The check from our mediocre, overpriced meal at Sonoma Bistro.

Homey looking bar/restaurant that was nearly empty on a recent Saturday evening. In fact, there wasn't even one seat occupied, at the bar when we arrived. While the service was pleasant and attentive, the bartender made me a "very skimpy" Bourbon Old Fashioned, over one (massive) ice cube. When I ordered a second drink, I chided her (the bartender) gently, to pour me a more generous drink. She gestured as if she was adding more whiskey, but my rocks glass remained half full .. or half empty, depending on your perspective! lol Our $20 fried calamari appetizer consisted of approx. 10-12 "pinky rings" of squid. My wife's "Special" fresh tuna salad entree was more like a "side salad." And the Cajun Penne Pasta entree ($26) that I ordered was nothing special. They tried, unsuccessfully to sell us a $10 - $12 dessert from their separate dessert menu, but thankfully, we declined. When they brought the check, I got "sticker shock"... especially the two underwhelming (& undersized) $18 cocktails. I now know why an attractive bistro, named after a popular Northern California wine region, is certainly not getting better, with age.

Wow literally wow!!!!! This place is a gem! I'm so glad I came in ! We literally just drove by it and decided to walk in and it was the best decision! Found parking quickly on the street. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Great decor inside and a place to take photos! The food was literally lovely! They accommodated my baby and the stroller that was so sweet of them! I had a espresso martini and it was literally delicious. I also had the huevos rancheros with french fries and I'm not sure what they do to their french fries but they are addicting! My boyfriend had one of their specials of the day, which was baby back ribs with asparagus, mashed potatoes and onion rings, and he literally said they fell off the bone first time in a while that he loved the ribs. It's also July 4th and it's not crazy busy but decent. They say at night they have a party that's fun! I'll be back again for sure !

Sonoma is one of those spots that keep up with its reputation. The original location is in Rutherford and once this one opened the expectation was high. I have to be honest but the first time I visited after it opened it was ok, but I decided to give it another try and their service is where is needs to be now. This actually is now my favorite Sonoma. The bartender (I believe his name is Rodney) is awesome. His drinks are on point. The food is Sonoma is delicious and so fresh. The owner is very nice and really care about their place. I highly recommend this spot for any occasion. Leaving five minutes in town from this spot is a great plus. Keep up the great work guys.

Revisited Sonoma Bistro bar and Grill for a second time. Four stars both visits. Menu was really good, drink specials, full bar, good atmosphere. Lunch and dinner specials are offered. Of course the specials never have pricing, like most places. And like most places you might experience a little bit of sticker shock when the bill arrives no difference here . I just don't see why any restaurant makes you wait for the bill before you know the price. Although I guess you can ask for the price before ordering. But heck, who does that? It's not unique at Sonoma it's everywhere, but it's irritating. Ordering off the menu pricing is pretty good. The menu on classic dishes has inventive spins on classic dishes. Short ribs on a grilled cheese, and burrata on a burger to name a few. Great job on the apps . Pleasant surprise with desserts. I suspect a third visit is in the cards.

I have come here for brunch and happy hour. I will say the staff is super nice but their best food is definitely brunch. A must try are the huevos rancheros and the guava and cream cheese crossiant French toast. For happy hour I recommend the chicken tings egg rolls. Super cute place for date night.

They have great happy hour specials and staff who are there to honor the deals and give you a fun experience. Nothing worse than walking into a bar because of an advertised deal and the bartender charging you full price because they didn't know anything about the deal. That doesn't happen here which is huge!!! They have multiple TVs and seating areas, which make it perfect for watching sports. Drinks are great and food is delicious. We love the chicken quesadilla and wings. The espresso martini was surprisingly good. We love their drink pitchers as well. Overall you can tell they care about the community, and want to offer a reliable and fun experience in an area that doesn't have too many bars like this. We have returned multiple times since the first time because we love the consistency, fun events, and friendly staff. The only thing they could improve on is the music. When there's a DJ, it's a great night, but when it's up to Touch Tunes there's room for improvement. We still will return whenever we are looking for a good time!

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much when I ordered the Manhattan on their menu. They offer your regular bar food like wings, mozzarella sticks, and burgers, but also salads made with actual mixed greens and not just iceberg lettuce. Their fries were good, as well as the quesadilla, chicken fingers and steak salad (although crazy spicy so beware). The bartenders were so friendly, it must be a good place to work.
