Absolutely disgusting behavior from their staff member. I've been to this location a few times and it's a cozy spot for a nice meal with friends. I went last night after a concert at the MetLife stadium near by. Once we were seated they brought out plates for the table and every one of the four plates given to us had charcoal dust on them, which isn't alarming at an establishment that serves hookah. We asked the waitress LAMIA if she can change the plates, Immediately she caught an attitude. She was adamant they weren't dirty but went to get us new plates as requested. The great thing about outside seating at this establishment is that the windows are wide open so you can see inside. We watched as LAMIA walked over to her coworkers to complain, stomp her foot and have an attitude driven tantrum while she filled them in on our request for new plates. For the rest of dinner we were greeted with the rudest attitude and treatment of distain from this server. She didn't want to speak with us. She didn't want to serve us. Thank you for runing our night LAMIA. She even brought the check over while we were mid eating our dinner, put it on the table and walked away without a word. Rushing us out without even acknowledgement. Paying $200 for a meal with that sort of treatment makes for an interesting end to our evening. We were raised with manners so we continued to be polite and thank her each time she dropped off an item. Makes me question if our food was tampered with because we even found a piece of hair in our meal. We all have long jet black hair down our backs so this hair definitely was not ours. But didn't feel comfortable to speak up due to the treatment we were already receiving. The service industry is for those who enjoy curating a space of fun and enjoyment for consumers. I came with a large party to celebrate a friend's birthday. She told us we would be seated in the main dining area. But they sat us all in the patio area with all the smokers; one star down. We wanted to have a separate check for 5 specific people in our group. Apparently they didn't understand what this meant. One of my friends had to explain this to 3 different employees for them to agree. Why was this such a hassle? Another star down. The waiter passed out bottled water to everyone, even though we didn't ask for it. He neglected to tell us they will be added onto the bill for $2 a bottle; another star down. The only saving grace is this is a BYOB. I was not impressed at all with the service here, after all the issues we encountered. I don't even remember how the food was. Another one of my go-tos in Northern New Jersey. Highly recommend this place for any occasion whether it be a party, get together or just a quick dinner. Absolutely amazing!! Up from North Carolina, my big brother told me he was taking out to Lebanese for lunch. What an experience!! We had a blast smoking the blueberry mist hookah and the food was TO DIE FOR!! I let him order because he was in the know!! We started with a tabbouleh salad and then an appetizer plate of hummus, baba ghanouj, muhamara and labneh with pita. The best was a frozen, fresh, mint lemonade!! Be still my beating heart!! This is the second time I have been here and really enjoyed both experiences. Inside there was plenty of seating and they allow hookah inside. The waiter tended to us immediately and recommended I get the lamb chops which were delicious. The lamb was perfectly cooked and flavorful. It came with seasoned pita, rice, and a roasted tomato. This dish really was good. As I type this review I am making plans to return... seriously. The hookah was also good. They bring a large hookah which is perfect for bigger groups since the charcoal does not burn the tobacco as quickly as smaller ones do. They bring more than enough tips and have a variety of flavors to choose from. If you want good food give this place a try. The food was absolutely amazing! Growing up close with a Lebanese family and this was one of the restaurants they suggested. It did not disappoint. For an app we got the hummus as pictured and the Lebanese sausages which I highly recommend. The flavor of the sausages was so authentic. I came here a couple of months ago with a group of my girlfriends, and it was such a friendly experience. They accommodated all of our seating requests (we asked to switch tables about 3 times!). They also did a great job with respect to our food orders (they ensured we did not order TOO much food for the table or too LITTLE food). My favorite food item was by far the dip platter. I am quite sure I devoured the majority of it. I actually enjoyed that this was a BYOB atmosphere- because we were able to bring a bunch of our own bottles, and got to drink what we wanted, and the price we were willing to pay! I celebrated my 31st birthday here. I had heard great things so I was excited to try it. We made reservations on a Friday night for 9pm for the DJ and belly dancer. They have complimentary valet. We pulled right in. We got inside and were the first ones there. I didn't realize the inside dining room opened at 9pm which is why my reservation was so late (we initially hoped for 8pm). They told us it was a pre-fixe menu $65 per person for 2 appetizers and entree. The restaurant is BYOB - no limitations (some restaurants only allow beer/wine). They have juices/sodas you can order as your mixer/chaser. They have hookah available at an additional cost. The hookah was really smooth and good. We were seated right away. We were a party of 21 people. Everyone had arrived by 9:30. We were given two ice bucks and they came around with cups as people were arriving. One of the appetizers was more like appetizer samplers they had a variety of things on the plate. They also served salad and hummus with pita. Everything tasted amazing. I was expecting (especially for the price) that everyone would get to choose their entree but nope! For entree it was literally a plate of meats for people to share but no sides. It was extremely disappointing. Another disappointing factor was the 20% service charge which added another $200+ to our bill. I've gotta say we had an amazing time leading up to the entree and bill. The belly dancer was great and interacted with the crowd. The DJ played a variety of music to cater to the crowd. All in all it was a good time but I don't think I'd return for a night where there is a pre fixe menu. We went on Easter Sunday and it was packed. We had 11 people in our party and we packed into two small tables. It was crowded and we barely had any space to move around. There was no music or entertainment on this day. However, the lighting was pretty and it was organized. We got package number two for $35 per person which includes hummus, Baba ghanouj, kibbeh neyah, tabouleh, kibbeh, Borak, makanik, spicy tomato, kufta, shish tawook, and rice. A group of friends came here to celebrate my friends birthday on Sunday and was not impressed. We sat in the mid section where we were outside but still had a roof over our head. We were told when we were sat that there was a minimum of $25 per person that night which don't sound like much but it should be announced when making a reservation. For starters we had fried calamaris, Burak (cheese filled pita), Kibbeh and Libnen (yogurt base dip). The pita that was brought out was cold and tasted old. The apps were all okay but nothing to remember. For dinner we ordered the Cedar Mix grill with filet, chicken, Kufta and shrimp. Grilled Salmon, fried whiting, and a regular Cesar mix grill. The filet in the mix grill was really good. The grilled salmon was delicious but the fried whiting was bland and had almost no flavor. The staff left us for almost an hour of a time. Its a BYOB place and they offer Hookah but besides that I don't see the appeal. I was invited to another birthday dinner next week on a day that belly dancing and live music is perform so maybe I will update then. read more

Reading the reviews for Cedars, there was no middle ground- either 1 star or 5. I've personally found that those who give 1 star are usually people that have been slightly inconvenienced and not necessarily founded in their ratings. That being said, I checked it out. I thought the service was fine, waiters working pretty hard on a hot day. Food was great, Spicy Fried Potatoes had an intense Lemon and Garlic sauce. Plenty of pitas given to soak it up( although they should've been warm) Baked Salmon with Asparagus-Shrimp topping was a good sized portion, cooked perfectly. The rice was a little bland.The Chicken Pops- bone in thighs- had a wonderful char to them, accompanied by grilled veggies and a savory garlic sauce. Food and service worthy of at least 4-5 stars. The problem! One waiter- not ours- had his mask below his nose the entire time we were there. The guy setting up the houkas had no mask at all. At one point an older guy ( owner?)came out of the restaurant with no mask and walked around the dining area, stopping to talk at a few tables. Originally visited this location for the hookah. The hookah itself is well made, the flavor is good and the hookah guy comes around with square coals (coconara maybe) at good intervals. Although, my third visit I asked for new coals 3 or 4 times from the waiter and after 40 min I just left since they didn't come. Maybe don't pay until you are full done or you won't be served anymore? Fourth time the re-coal came after 20 min and again after an hour or more. Even after I mention the above, the waitstaff are very professional and generally quick to get what you need. Although, I asked the manager about an item I forgot to see if the waiter can grab it (I left and returned). Without acknowledging me he turned around, spoke to the waited and without a single word did something else. From my several visits I have seen the food and it always looked very pretty. My last visit I finally tried the food and maybe it was a bad pick. I tried Makanik which was small sausages. I, personally, didn't like the notes of mint in it, but it could be just me. However the sausages themselves were tough to chew which was an unpleasant gastronomical experience. The second item was Arayes Cheese, which was literally a tortilla filled with mozarrela. All the dips were really good but my favorite was the Muhamara. It was very flavorful with a good amount of spice. Next, we ordered the calamari and chicken wings. These were good as well. As entrees, we got the chicken chops and chicken kebab entrees. Both chickens were really good. The meat was tender, grilled to perfection and perfectly seasoned!! The rice was very tasty as well. It was seasoned really good. Overall, this is a great spot to eat good food, enjoy good company, and get a little rowdy (on the weekend).
