Nice place to have some good middle eastern food and hookah. There are plenty of middle eastern restaurants here that do the same. This one has a nice comfortable decor inside for a better social atmosphere. The food was tasty all around from the kebe nehya, tabouli, stuffed grape leaves, and mixed platter (kabob, chicken tawook, and shish kabob). It's also byob, and the service was on point. I remember a time where I used to come here weekly. Due to COVID-19, I've only been here twice in the last 6 months. The owner (Sam) is very accommodating. There are times where I've come when it was packed and he carves out a spot for my friends and I. My order is generally the same--fries and hookah. The flavor of hookah I get depends on whatever Ramses (hookah guy) recommends for me. As far as the food goes, I've only ever eaten the Shish Tawook (Chicken Shish) wrap and for the price/taste you can't beat it! Overall chill spot. Nice place, food was delicious, big portions and hookah was great! We went at 4:30pm so it was pretty empty and quiet. They gave use a blue took speaker and let us put our own music on! After a night out of drinking, I hit the hookah bar with Lecille D. and Beatrice C. Layalina was once the location of Al Jannah, one of my previous favorite hookah bars due to the cute sister duo serving as the waitstaff. Layalina has renovated since they took over the space. The lighting is colorful and the atmosphere is generally more lounge like. We ordered a bit of baklava and a pot of tea to share. The tea was surprisingly good, but the baklava was a bit too wet for my tastes. The most important part of the experience was the hookah of course. They use grapefruit bowls and coco nara coals, the industry standard. My hookah had too much water in the vase. I knew because i have the same hookah at home and because water was getting the hose as i pulled. I tolerated it for a little while, not wanting to be a pain, but I eventually told the guy who brought the hookah that there was too much water in the vase. He took the hookah, checked for himself (as if i could be wrong when it comes to hookah), blew the excess water out of the hose, and took the hookah to remove some water from the vase. The flavor and smoke did last pretty long though. And the service during my second visit was outstanding. Prices were average for the area, they include an 18% gratuity to your bill by default. read more

Excellent eating experience.. excellent hookah ... from walking in the door and being greeted by employee, seated and drink order taken, was maybe 5 minutes. Meal was served hot and excellent taste so delicious, we order lamb chops with rice and it was very delicious and the appetizers like hummus, tabouleh, grape leaves and shanklish is amazing. Their chicken kebab is beyond tender and flavorful! This has now become my new favorite spot for Lebanese food. Just a bit upsetting they do charge extra to replace the rice for salad. i would also say to add a little bit less dressing to the salad as it was a bit overdressed! First time going to Layalina, had a wonderful experience. Went there after another place treated us poorly - we were seated right away and owners were kind and gracious. The service was a bit rough - messed up an order, took a while for things to come out, but no big deal. Went again the following week and WOW, different experience. Was on a weekend - BF called to make a reservation for 3 and the guy on the phone said it would be an hour to be seated. We said ok and would be coming. When we get there, 45 minutes later, same guy greets us outside and says it's at least an hour wait because of reservations. Makes no sense. We did make a reservation, so why wait another hour? He was very rude, with empty tables clearly behind him. We went to another place in the area and were seated immediately. Not sure if we will be going back to Layalina... maybe on a weekday. read more

Here's a summary: I walk in and am greeted by who I presume to be the owner or manager. Him - "can I help you sir?" Me - " table for one for dinner and hookah please." Him - "do you have a reservation?" Me - "no I do not." Him - "I'm sorry but we're closed today for a private party, I am really sorry." I walk out in disbelief after seeing three guys huddled in the corner smoking hookah and the entire place empty. A group of us went for hookah night. The atmosphere was nice and the entertainment was great! They had a belly dancer and it was very interactive. They had a prefix menu that cost $45. You got to choose an appetizer, entree and dessert. The food was not worth the cost. It was extremely basic and not very tasty. The service was not the best either. Our server was extremely nice and friendly but it seemed like he was servicing the entire dining room alone. It took 2 hours for him to take out order. It seems like they were short staffed and could have used a little extra help that night. Not sure that I would go back. read more

Inside the restaurant is spacious and beautiful, while the outside back patio is even more great. I've been to a couple different restaurants which specialize in hookah and Layalina has been the best of them. The staff is exceedingly courteous, and the atmosphere and restaurant itself are stunning (even the bathroom was lovely! How many places have free hair wax for men?!) The owner Sam was especially courteous and regularly talks to each of the guests, and is generous when it comes to service and quality. Honestly, it's the place I always want to go to. I always feel welcomed and at home when I'm at layalina. The owners are absolutely amazing and the the staff is great. I memorized the menu because I love everything on it. The food is always hot and delicious. I've been a loyal costumer for the past three years and I have never had a bad experience. I always like to go there to have hookah and talk to my friends. I also like going for parties because layalina has it all. I absolutely love this place! Its BYOB, the Arabic salad is delicious! The people are always friendly, waiters and patrons. You're seated quickly and the waiter frequently comes to check on your table. They get an A++ for service. The hookah is good quality and affordable. New hang out spot especially for hookah. The other places in the area are okay but have terrible service. Here everything is fast and the staff is unbelievably friendly and accommodating. What an amazing hidden gem! I went with my husband last night. Great ambiance in their pretty outdoor garden. We enjoyed fresh crispy Arabic salad, amazing hummus and warm fresh pita. I had grilled salmon that was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had kanafeh, a mouth watering Lebanese dessert. The owner walks around to every table to make sure that your every need is met, literally! The staff is attentive and very friendly. It is one of the best medtrnainian restaurants ever in NJ. The food is very delicious, the staff is nice, and the manager is helpful, gentle, and supper kind. I am going there frequently.
