I have ordered Kibbeh Nayeh (raw meat dish) before and it was ok, but the last couple times I have been wanting it; 1. They didnt have it and WITHOUT notifying me, the restaurant tried to replace the dish with something COMPLETELY different and have it delivered to me still. My dasher notified me of this and I contacted the restaurant to cancel it immediately! They didn't want to cancel it at first and send me some random food, but I made sure they cancelled it because they don't have the item! 2. During the lock down when they opened back up we were treated as a bill. I get you have to make your money but we would order at least once a week and it is not cheap, so we expected more. Had dinner here with my family last week. The food was good and the outdoor seating was very nice, but I felt like they were more interested in pushing the hookah than they were in serving the food. We weren't having that. I can't speak to everyone else's dishes, but I had the branzino and it was delicately seasoned. We all shared the hummus appetizer and it was nicely done. My daughter had the chicken gyro platter and enjoyed it. She brought half of it home and had another meal out of it. One thing - they charge 10.00 per bottle to open wine since they're byob. I found that to be a bit excessive since we had 2 bottles of wine. They also added the tip onto our bill (table of 5) and we weren't told about that ahead of time. I got up to pay the bill & they didn't tell our server, who gave us the check again (which my son almost paid). Though we chose this location for the accommodation for the group's party of 10, we probably wouldn't had we known the food would be this mediocre. Given the party size, we were charged for an open bottle fee since it was BYOB $6/person. Additionally, be prepared to put a deposit on a table as a reservation precursor. Both salads were very very salty. My fillet mignon was not flavorful. The Lebanese touch was missing. The quality of the meat was good though. Another mishap is the person cooking the meat did not clean the grill because the other pieces had the remnants of other things on it. There is no attention to detail. One of the best Middle Eastern places in the area. The chicken chops are a stellar signature dish that is a must order. The Hummus , Baba Ghanoush, Labne, and Falafel are all excellent and very authentic. I've never had anything bad on the rest of the menu. And as a bonus, they're open late and deliver late, something fairly hard to find in the area. This is a gem in Montclair. Ignore the other laughable reviews below, complaining about a hookah problem or fried calamari (?!) or pasta Alfredo (?!) or something else ridiculous for a *Middle Eastern* restaurant. She also mentioned that we will be far away from the "DJ" we were okay with that. We were looked forward to the dancers and the music Once we got there the entire thing was so underwhelming. The entrance is unrecognizable, when we approached the hostess she immediately told us we have to spend a min of $35 per person. So far we have barely been served and we are already out $185. We get seated in a very shabby little space in the back with folding chairs and tables, nothing worth $185. Also most of the tables were empty and there was no DJ or dancers. So weird. The reason I gave this 3 stars because the food and service was good, but it's just money making at this point. I don't smoke but my friends said the hookah was good. Formerly Mediterranea, Antika is the same premise: a Mediterranean restaurant and hookah lounge. Nancy and Fady, the new owners, are absolute sweethearts and made us feel so welcomed. They chatted with us and made sure we had everything we needed. The interior is completely redone and is absolutely beautiful, and there is plenty of outdoor seating. The food menu is extensive, and goes beyond Mediterranean fare; it includes burgers, pasta and pizza. We opted for the hummus and basterma to have with our hookah. The hummus was delicious- it was super fresh and creamy. It was served with warm pita and a side of olives and pickles. The basterma, which is like a dry, smoked pastrami, was great as well. The service is attentive and friendly. They were constantly refreshing the coals on our hookah, and it lasted for a long time. One of the great parts about this place is they give you a brand new hose with every hookah (along with multiple mouth pieces, but I feel like this is pretty standard at hookah lounges now-a-days). The kitchen closes at 11:30PM but you can stay until 2:00AM on weekends. There is a $12 minimum per person, so whatever you don't spend in hookah/food is considered to be a cover charge.
