Had an amazing time with the staff and patrons today. The vibes were immaculate and everyone knows how to have a good time. Can't wait to be back! You'll enjoy this place for their brunch and extensive menu along with deals.
if i could leave no stars i would. terrible service and experience. the place was literally EMPTY. on a friday night. came for a friends birthday and there was no attentiveness or urgency. the staff was spilling drinks on people as they passed them around. waited 30 MINUTES for a refill on a mojito and i had to ask AGAIN and it finally came (and i wasnt the only one.) the food was 4/10. not worth coming to at all. reservations were set in advance and there seemed to be 0 preparation for our party. genuinely worst experience i've ever had at an establishment, and i feel horrible for my friend. his poor birthday was ruined, to the point we contemplated getting up and walking out. DO NOT COME HERE SAVE YOURSELF. when we asked to speak to the manager to express our complaints , he was very dismissive. this was horrible and a waste.
So... This place come with mixed reviews. We came on a Sunday, January 16th at 8 pm or so to celebrate my niece's 21st birthday. My sister called and was informed that she could not make a reservations...despite being a party of 11 or so people. She was told to just call 20 minutes prior to showing up and they would get the tables needed ready. I got there earlier than her and informed them that a party of 11 people was arriving within the next 20 minutes. I told this to the younger gentleman who was at the hostess desks with a slue of other people. Despite informing them, my sister and the remaining party arrived...and NO TABLE READY. Matter of fact, it was a hassle to get the communication straight. She had the manager she spoke to on the phone's name and ask to speak to her directly so we can clear the confusion. 15 minutes go by and the table is now ready..... Now, we are getting seated and was informed EVERYONE had to show ID. We happily obliged. Just to be informed that the birthday girl could not have anything to drink because she was not 21 years old AND a Day!!! WHAT!!!!! It was her birthday THAT EXACT DAY! We had a table of 11 people on a snowy Sunday night and the birthday girl could not have any drinks. WE WERE PISSED. They kept saying it is a NJ restaurant policy, but looked it up and could not find anywhere else that stated such policy. If we understood this policy to be true, we would not have come here. We have NEVER EVER HEARD of such policy. Regardless, we sat and ordered tons of foods, Sangria , mojito pitchers. Sangria did not taste good so we had to send it back. We, however, enjoyed the mojito (plain) pitcher. So we ordered mojito (coconut) instead of the sangria. AND IT WAS THE BEST PART OF THE MEAL!!! Tasty, strong enough, sweet enough....PERECT MOJITOS!!!! Food was really good and everyone agreed their dishes were tasty. Music- mostly Spanish music. The lounge was shut down due to the snow and that was disappointing as we specifically chose this place because of the nightlife and hookah. Service- our waitress started off on a bad start. Not sure if it was due to the party size, the time (late Sunday night) but we just got an attitude from inception. Mind you...we were already very upset that we could not have the birthday girl have any drinks....and the waitress made sure of that by continuously looking over to our section and table to ensure she had nothing else in her cup. But towards the end of the night, she seem to loosen up and was more cordial at the end of night. I truly hope any form of language barrier was not the cause of such miscommunication between our party and the staff. I hope they would implement reservations for such a large party in the future to alleviate confusion and distaste. I hope that they would treat ALL their patrons equally. I hope for them to display and communicate on their website, Google pages that they will not serve ANY patron is not 21 years old AND A DAY!!!!!! I do believe I will come back for an event or large party dining here. But as this was my second time there, I may return for a meal, Definitely a mojito during the warmer months to truly get the vibe of this place
This Saturday afternoon I encountered the same dynamic I'm encountering at restaurants that want to seat you in crowded areas and the worse table in the spot when there are plenty of other empty unreserved tables. It's not like they filled up at lunch time. Nonetheless, we ultimately got to choose where we wanted to sit. We felt the service felt a bit rushed and felt awkward gawking as if the staff and patrons had never seen a black person before. When we were ready to checkout, the waiter claimed my boyfriend's credit card was not working. Shortly after we got a notice from the card company that the transaction was indeed processing. The restaurant ultimately canceled the transaction anyway so we had to give them another card. I think they are full of it and shady! There is not a darn thing wrong with my boyfriends card given we used it multiple times throughout the day without any issues at all. The music was average Latin music. The food was tasty and presented nicely. The steak portion was smaller than most Latin restaurants that serve churrasco. The lobster was cooked perfectly but the mofongo was a bit dry. The drinks were mediocre. I did not notice they already included gratuity and I added additional tip. That's my fault for not taking time to review the check like I usually do. Ultimately the bill for lunch for 2 people, 2 drinks, 2 beers and 1 dessert was undoubtedly overpriced. *Take note that happy hour drinks might only be if you sit at the bar. Ask questions and read the fine print here including your final bill. The energy might be better Friday and Saturday nights but based on the experience today, we are unlikely inclined to return.

Our server also didn't come to check on us to see if we wanted additional drinks or needed anything while we waited. The food portions look small but they were actually filling. We had the chicken and shrimp empanadas as an appetizer but I forgot to take a picture because I was too hungry, they were both very good but slightly cold. I had the mofongo sampler which I really enjoyed. The shrimp was my least favorite, not much flavor. The chicken was more flavorful but the stripped steak was my favorite. The meat was flavorful and juicy. The good thing about all 3 was that they weren't dry. My friend had the ropa vieja mofongo and she enjoyed the flavors and portion size. Honestly, not excited to come back but if you are stopping by for a drink or a meal to go it may be a better experience.

They say they have a 90 minute seating limit, but it isn't enforced unless it gets very busy. Luckily, it was pretty dead. However, you can tell it gets very busy later in the night, as there was a line when we were leaving. The food was to die for! And the drinks were also pretty strong. They do offer hookah, so be mindful if this isn't something you would want. All in All, highly recommendable.

Came here on a double date on a Saturday night. The vibe and atmosphere here is great. The music is great as well. No mask required here and they don't do temp checks or require vaccination cards. They dont take reservations for small parties. Since it was only 4 of us, we were able to get a nice table outside when we arrived. The outside space is huge and they have it nicely set up. The later it got, the music picked up and it becomes a lounge/night club environment. We got a pitcher of Margarita. I also got the lychee Margarita which was okay. The original was better. We also got the empanadas. Two chicken and one shrimp. They were really filling and delicious. I appreciated how much filling was in each. The chicken was better than the shrimp. We also had the sampler for two appetizer. It came with calamari, fried chicken, potato croquetas and pork slices. All of it was good. For an entree i got the whole fried coconut fish with shrimp and mofongo. The fish was a little overcooked but it was still delicious. The sauce and shrimp were also really good. My husband got the ropa vieja mofongo. He really liked it and it looked absolutely beautiful. The service did lack a little. Some things did take a long time to come to the table. But we did enjoy ourselves. The food and drinks were good. The music was great and the location is beautiful. There isn't much to complain about. I will be here again.
I came on a Sunday , apparently during " Brunch " which runs well into the evening. Dinner service does not start till 6 pm . It was very loud with the music blaring , have to YELL at the waiter and your table mates . The food and service was good . i did ask what day of the week has no blasting music , they said monday- thursday . Well def go back . If you like as we carribeans call BULLA ( loudness ) go friday -sunday . they have a really nice outdoor seating area , must be nice in summer again there is another DJ outside, so bring your bullhorn
POST COVID: I came here with my mom on a Tuesday. If you're looking to spend money, this is the spot. You have to pay for valet parking although they park it right in front of you, I could've done it myself. We walked directly to the outdoor patio and were asked if we wanted hookah. We had to wear a mask to get seated and then we could take it off once we sat at our table, but must put it back on to use the bathroom. You're only able to spend 90 minutes here. The tables are socially distanced and the area has a great outdoor vibes. We are seated under a large stretched umbrella type ceiling. The tables are a little small, the server struggled to fit the plates on our table when he arrived. There is Latin music playing, mainly salsa and merengue, and reggaeton music videos were playing on the TVs. There are no physical menus, which a big plus to avoid anything transmitted through touch. To look at the menu, we had to open our phone camera and put it over a barcode. A link will pop up to the menu online and we could see the prices there. The drinks are 35 per pitcher and 12 minimum a drink. The beers are definitely more affordable, about $5 per beer. We ordered the Picadera Bonfire. It's enough for two people. It consisted of 3 mini Mofongos, Calamaris, 4 empanadas (2 Chicken & 2 Guayaba), chicken bites, tostones, and yucca fries with 2 dip sauces. It was good, I don't think it's worth the price but the environment and outdoor patio was really really nice! The server was extremely kind, she came back three times to ask how we were doing, now THAT'S great customer service. You can definitely have a good time here.
The customer service was great ! Our waiter Emily was very sweet and generous. The food could better for the price I paid . However the overall experience was good I probably would scope out a different place if you want to be on a budget and better food . Honestly the food could've been better and the prices were really high . I hope they lower their prices a bit to appeal to the public just a bit more .
This place was better then I thought it would be. Hubby took me as a surprise because he knows I'm a sucker for mofongo. Beautiful decor. Gorgeous middle room light display. The food was pretty good. The best part about this place is the liveliness. They were dancing and singing Happy Birthday to almost everyone in the establishment. There was no time for a dull moment. There was a little bit of a wait for the appetizer, but the food itself came out pretty fast. We ordered chiccarhon de pollo as an appetizer. It was a HUGE bowl of crunchy fried chicken. We thought we'd mistakenly ordered an entree! It was good but could have used a better sauce then the good ole' mayo-ketchup. We ordered a coconut snapper stuffed with mofongo. Salmon with avacado and asparagus. Both entrees were delicious. The snapper crispy and coated in a coconut sauce that was very pleasing to the pallet. The mofongo was not dry which is great but not very flavorful and heavily dependent on the coconut sauce for taste. The salmon was a good filet and asparagus was crisp and tasty. Dessert was standard nothing spectacular. Flan is flan lol. This place transformed right into a night club before our eyes. Tables and patrons were ushered away and space was opened up. In this space you could reserve tables ahead of time, rent hookahs (mint only?!) and have bottle service. It was decent booming recent spanish songs and reggaeton. Not a lot of room for movement. More so to stand and drink. I'd come back for ambiance and coconut snapper. Oh yeah!

I want to start the review with a huge WOW! I visited bonfire with family for dinner and everything literally everything we tried was tasteful and the food presentation A1. They have amazing service; they accommodated us where we wanted to as well as provided great customer service during the whole time. We set up a Christmas Event here recently and They simply gave us a menu with the prices for the entrees and open bar options for premium or house liquor. We all chose premium liquor and as soon as we start ordering drinks, the premium liquor price that we paid for, somehow ended up being the house liquor prices. Without telling the party, they just went ahead and charged the credit card that was on file an extra $900. The owners excuse is that we never signed a contract, so lesson learned on our behalf. Moral of the story is that if you do business with Bonfire, make sure everything is signed and sealed! This is a huge scam and I'm pretty sure this is not the first time that it's been done. We do not recommend this place! Please learn from our mistake! read more

Mofongo House was just okay in my opinion. The food was good, definitely not great, and I wouldn't necessarily call them the house of Mofongo when I've certainly have had better. And I've gotta say, the most disappointing was that itty bitty flan. My son ordered it and he was so upset that it was so tiny. In fact, it wasn't even shaped in proportion. It looked as if it was messed with and we were given half a piece of flan for their full price. Big no no. Especially within Hispanic standards. Maybe I'll just come for drinks or to go out for a bit, but I think they need to work on their menu and differentiate their product selections from local competition if they expect increased success. I gave them a three star because staff was attentive as were the owner or managers. I also believe this place is better when pertaining to nightlife. So I believe there are pros to this establishment. read more

This has become a must-have every time I visit New Jersey. The venue is hip and modern. In the evenings (especially on the weekends), they have a DJ and it turns almost into a club later. Bonfire is a very popular place, yet I've never had to wait for a table for dinner. I'm on a mission to eat my way through the mofongo menu. So far I've tried the Lobster, Shrimp, Seafood, and Pork Mofongo dishes. I love all of the one's served with the lobster sauce. Although the pork is served chunked rather than pulled, and the sauce is different, it is still tasty. The servings are very filling, so it's well worth the price...I mean, I didn't even know shrimp came that big! As far as drinks, I'm partial to the mango sangria; we usually order by the pitcher as one pitcher fills 4 glasses generously. read more

Food is great! Went there twice for dinner. Had the traditional mofongo the first time and churassco with rice and beans the second time. The churrasco is my all time favorite, very savory cooked to perfection. They were also very accommodating to my friend who is lactose intolerant. Went with a large group the second time and had great customer service. Our food took a while to come out so the waiter went out of his way to offer us two plates of plantain chips and another pitcher of passion fruit mojito on the House! I HIGHLY recommend the passion mojito, serves about 5 glasses per pitcher. Only downfall would be the music wish they had more variety in the different genres played. With the correct music played it would set the perfect vibe and would definitely attract a lot more customers through the door. read more

I was there on Friday night and as soon as we sat down they told us we had 90 minutes. We got a table for 2 so we asked to move to a larger table because we were going to have another person come and it was a bit of a commotion because they wanted us to go back to the waiting area. However, after several waiters coming to talk to us we were able to move without a problem. I'm personally a fan of lychee martinis, but their lychee martini didn't even have a lychee inside. It wasn't terrible but I will not order a lychee martini from there again. So for my second drink I got a bulldog which was much better. I have to say the food was amazing the mofongito sampler was very tasty and the fish was great. I got the pescado coco and I'm usually not a fan of ordering a whole fish because of the spines, but they cleaned up the fish pretty well. There were still some spine in the fish but very minimal. They are also following all the guidelines for Covid with spacing and staff. read more

I was a little skeptical of going here because I was unsure of the measures that would be taken in the time of covid. I was pleasantly surprised by seeing all staff members wearing masks, hand sanitizer provided upon entry, and tables set apart from one another. They truly do abide by social distancing rules and follow safety precautions. They have yummy flavored frozen margaritas (frozen strawberry was my favorite) and food was really good, too! The churros we had for dessert were delicious. Waitresses are friendly and attentive. I've been back 3 times since they reopened and will definitely be back soon. read more

Love bonfire! I usually come here on sundays when they bring típico bands and can dance all night. But due to Covid, things are a little different! Ordered the calamari, was a little raw but eatable. The churrasco on the other hand was amazing!! Drinks deserved a little more liquor but it's alright lol. Definitely recommend!! read more

RUDE!!! UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! STAFF DISCRIMINATION!!! AVOID THIS PLACE There has been a receipt from The Bonfire establishment that has gone viral on social media; your staff referred to three customers on a receipt as "3 morenas." This is very inappropriate. You never use race or gender to describe a customer. This happened on June 17, 2020 I am writing in reference to a disappointing encounter experienced on Monday, July 1, 2019. Nonetheless, I am writing because my sister and I experienced a similar situation on July 1, 2019. Our "receipt" said BLACK on it. I addressed the issue with a manager and after waiting for about 45 minutes for the manager to speak with his waiter about the situation, the only answer that was given is that "I had on a black shirt and it was easier for the waiter to identify us that way." I explained to the manager that I had on a black shirt and I never ordered; I went straight to the outdoor patio and my sister who ordered at the bar inside the establishment did NOT have on a BLACK shirt. After this infraction, I can honestly say I have not been back to the BONFIRE. Needless to say, it is a year later and customers are still being DISCRIMINATED against at THE BONFIRE. AMAZING! I love everything about this place. The music, the appetizers, main dishes, drinks, and the service overall. I have been here a couple of times; for both dining and also night life experience when they open up the floor and it turns into a club, and I have no complaints. The food tastes great! I have had their mofongo, grilled chuletas, ceviche, tostones, and chicharrones and have loved it all. My personal favorite dish to order is the chuleta a la parrilla which is served with fufu (basically mofongo made with ripe plantains). The portions are not too little and not too much, just enough. As per the drinks, very delicious. Every time I've gone we have paid for the $34 pitcher as it is more with it. If you are looking for a quiet spot, this is not the place for you. Personally, I love the music they play and it definitely contributes to a great experience. Being Dominican, it makes me feel at home. If you are driving, they have a mandatory $5 valet parking! Worst service ever!! Wouldn't ever ever ever EVER return to their lounge. Let's begin with the fact that I made reservations days prior and clearly explained I wanted the silver bottle package for 10pm for 10ppl. We arrive about 10:05 no later then 10:10 and get told the lounge doesn't open until 11:00. So why allow me to reserve for 10pm? What if I wanted appetizers, doesn't the kitchen close at 11pm? Well, 45 mins pass, I've been standing in front of desk service the whole time and yet they seat others at the lounge before my guests and I. After questioning them about it they then walked us to our area. We were sat in front of the speaker. Our waitress then tells us if we want appetizers we need to hurry and order. Umm are you kidding me? I must rush my order because this place decided to sit us almost an hour later and your kitchen is soon to close? Well we place our appetizer order and waited. We waited another 15-20 mins and still weren't asked what bottles we wanted. The table right next to us who arrived after us received their bottles right away. Goodness at least bring us water! So I ask the waiter why haven't we received our bottles and she explains that we never ordered it. Technically speaking I ordered it days ago! Yet, the waiter never returned to ask us what we wanted either. As for our appetizers, remember I said we were sat so close to the speaker? It was so loud and so close to the speaker that one of our appetizers vibrated right off the table. I understand that the kitchen was closed but the least they could of done was remove this plate from our bill. Security was helpful and helped us call someone to clean it. So our bottles come out with led lights attached. They quickly take them off not giving us a chance to get one pick of the bday girl and her bottles lit up. The waitress and manager do come around here and there to ask if all is ok. When we asked for extra cups they quickly brought it. They brought enough napkins and did refill our bucket with ice. We ordered another bottle and it came out quickly. Yet the cake that was included in our package NEVER came out. To the first DJ, you definitely provided good music. Well Bonfire, thanks for making this one unforgettable worst experience I've ever had at a lounge. read more
