The food highlights: - bread: hearty sized individual breads with a nice crispy outside / tops - chorizo sausage is well flavored without being oily or dry, tastes great mixed with... - the vodka rigatoni. Served al dente with a nice cream / cheese overlay - shrimp in garlic. Very nice flavor with a light garlic and olive oil taste that did not overwhelm the shrimp - rib eye : simply seasoned that really let the meat flavor rise. Rum: they had Zacapa 23 year. A good recommendation to sip along with a tremendous meal. One note: the medium rare was closer to black and blue, and the medium was closer to medium rare. It may depend on the chef, but if you are between temp levels, take the over. I could have come here for dinner every night and been very happy. First thing...this review is NOT about the food. I frequent their other restaurants weekly and can honestly say, the food is a solid 3.5 but when you consider portion size and price, then it's a 4. Now the reason for one star. I was driving home and this place was closest to the one I usually frequent. When I came to pick up the food, I was handed a check with a charge that horrified me. Not only am I paying credit card charges..now, but the now added a $2 packing fee. I was shocked, are we now supposed to bring our own containers and maybe pack the food ourselves???? I loved the vibe of the restaurant, and the service was great. Jose was a kind and helpful waiter who made the experience even better. The bread came out first, nice and warm, which was a great start to the meal. We ordered the empanadas, and the meat was delicious, though they definitely could have used a sauce on the side. I also got the soup, which was very tasty. Unfortunately, my main dish lacked flavor. The portion size was good about six pieces but it just didn't have much seasoning. The restaurant itself was a bit restricted with space but that wasn't a big deal. Our service was slow and we barely saw our waiter but to give them the benefit of the doubt it was near closing time. We started with the calamari appetizer and it was delicious perfectly paired with a nice marinara sauce. I had the lobster ravioli which was featured in their special. It was really good. First wanted to say I was hopeful for a wonderful dinner. Service was great. Tables a little too close together but it's a small place and they made it work. Now the food was another thing. I ordered as the menu stated Jumbo shrimp and scallops. The 3 shrimp I got were not jumbo, more like just large and the 3 scallops I got were about 1 and a half inches big. Came with rice , vegetables and their potato chips. Very disappointed with my fish. My son ordered a 24 oz steak. Cook to the right temperature but had absolutely no seasoning on it. Needed to keep putting salt on it and only eat about 1/4 of it. Bread was hot and great. Spanish restaurant usually give great size portions but my dinner was lacking. The last time I visited this restaurant in 2022, I just graduated with my Master's Degree and it was a large party. The food and service was so amazing that I've been wanting to come back so I took my sister here for her birthday. Again the service was great, water remained refilled, plates were cleared as needed and the waiter was nice enough to put on food network for the birthday girl (she LOVES to watch food network while she eats lol). Everything we ordered tasted great especially the ribeye, it was the star of the show highly recommend giving this place a try if you haven't already. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside, has a great, friendly staff, and a full bar. Before I continue, you just HAVE to respect a place that puts on its menu "We do not recommend Medium Well or above" for their steaks. Respect!. We started off with a delicious meat and cheese plate that had jamon iberico (pata negra), chorizo iberico, salchichon iberico, 6 month manchego cheese, and marinated olives. We also got the oysters rockefeller which were delicious. The bread that comes out when you sit down was also fantastic. For our mains, we got medium rare steak. The steak comes with homemade chips and rice. For good measure, we also got a side of mushrooms that hit the mark. After hearing about this place for years, I finally tried it. DELICIOUS! Everything was great! The Sangria was fantastic. The bread was amazing! We been here 2x in the last 3 months. First time we were invited for a family gathering, 2nd time we came because we couldn't get enough of the delicious food and great service the staff provides. Chuetas ajillo are to die for, grillled octopus is excellent quality, the dinner plates are big, we learned that is best to smik appetizers otherwise we cannot finish main courses. They really deliver a consistent degree of flavors, quality and friendly service. Be ready for dinner early but 5pm on weekends, place gets super busy especially for a table of 6 or more. Great wine selection on reds, i love the bread and butter, to be honest we could barely finish our main courses. So we end up taking a doggie bag home for leftovers for the next day lunch! Ambiance is authentic Spanish restaurant -- dark and a little loud, but not in a festive, not negative, way. Appetizers slayed: the raw oysters and grilled calamari were absolutely delicious! Margaritas were ok, but I'd probably go with a martini, wine, or sangria next time. Dinner came with a choice of soup or house salad. I had the salad and enjoyed it. I ordered the boneless sirloin medium rare and it was more medium well -- probably continued to cook on the sizzling metal plate. However, one of my companions ordered the Salmon Pescatore (salmon with mixed seafood in a light tomato sauce) and he enjoyed it very much. You can't find any authentic Paella in NJ better than Segovia. I change up the tapas order all the time and never miss a beat. Trying something new every time here is a great experience. Let me first off say the food was great! My only issue was the service :( My friends and I (4 of us) came here on a Friday night at about 6:30. There was no wait for a table and even as the night progressed the restaurant remained at a steady half full rate. However, it seemed like our water/server was carrying the bulk of most of the tables. Because of this, we waited around for him to take our food order, drink order, bring the check, etc. Meanwhile, there were plenty of other waiters or possibly bus boys standing around chit chatting while our waiter had to hustle the entire time. Amazing dinner! Went with 6 people from my sales group and had a blast! The server had a great sense of humor and picked right up on us. The food all came out timely, the drinks were flowing, and all had a great time. The lobster ravioli was the big hit. Only negative is that two of us had the rack of lamb for two and it was essentially flavorless. Cooked to a perfect medium rare but no flavor. In spite of that, we'll all be back. read more
