Delicious food and service was great. We were quite a large group but they accommodated us very well. My absolute favorite was their seafood paella. We did have to wait quite a bit but didn't mind since we already had other dishes out. It had SO much seafood in it and was very flavorful. The waitstaff were extremely friendly and fun! We also tried the pulpo a la gallega--it was very tender, but honestly pretty bland, and I ended up adding salt. We topped everything off with tres leches cake, which was absolutely delicious. 10/10 will be a new regular at this restaurant. I haven't been inside for 10 years and coming back makes me question why I never returned before! The service first is impeccable. The waiters are nice, attentive, and VERYY helpful. They're always making sure you're well taken care of and content. The food was absolutely amazing. I know this place has a cult following, but I am scolding myself because it should really be added to my regular list of restaurant rotations. Tapas De Espana is a great spot, from the variety of dishes offered to the quality of the food and service. Not to mention, their sangria is some of the best around! When available, my favorite spot is to sit at the bar upstairs (although they do close it on slow nights). Years ago, Tapas de Espana was just the first floor; it was very smart of them to open up and expand to upstairs. Each floor has a different feel - the downstairs is was more of a traditional 'steakhouse' feel from the 90s while the upstairs is more modern, airy, and open. Either way, you're getting the same menu, so you really can't go wrong wherever you sit! The menu has a wide variety of options, too. One whole side is dedicated to tapas while the other side is traditional entrees. The tapas range from safe selections (sliders, fried potatoes) to more adventurous options like tripe. For the entrees, you can expect to see a large selection of steak (their churrasco is excellent), chicken dishes (the lemon chicken is superb), and fish. In addition, all entrees come with soup as an app, plus a side of rice, vegetables, and their housemade chips which are positively addicting. Plus, they have specials every day, so you really can go in there and order whatever you're in the mood for. Tapas de Espana is a staple in North Bergen, and it has prove why time after time. Lunch here today was really, really good. First off... the staff are great. They come often enough (and not TOO OFTEN) to check and make sure you're good. They're bilingual English/ Español, and the red Sangria kicks ass. Very full bodied and sweet. We had some Filet Mignon tips that had a lot of flavor and came in a somewhat spicy sauce. I had Rabbit Stew... the rabbit meat is a wee bit dry, but the stew was great nonetheless. Very nice atmosphere and good people. Would definitely return. read more

Wow wow wow! You have to try the grilled octopus. It is the best we've ever tasted. I ordered the grilled octopus and filet mignon chunks and I can only say delicious. We done ordered boneless garlic chicken with potatoes with a little hot kick to them and the Churrasco steak that was to die for. The paella was hands down the main act of my dining experience here! Loved the vibe with all the customers who seem to come very frequently and appreciating good food (which is obviously a good sign). Other than the paella, we tried a bunch of other tapas such as their shrimp with garlic sauce, chorizo with sauteed onions and meat and cheese board to pair well with our red sangria. It's a seafood combo plate, made very well with cider and olive oil. I didn't like the quality of their bread, it was on harder side and not fluffy/softer kind. But we loved the plain flan. We have passed by TDE for so many years and finally decided to try it. Unfortunately, the Covid rules are in effect so we ate an early dinner outside on a hot Sunday. This equaled a small table and a lot of street noise from all the traffic. We opted for tapas only and here is how it went. Chicken Villaroy, Bacalao Croquetas, Octopus in olive- these were all excellent. The beef empanadas were ok- the pastry was good but I didn't like the beef filling. The octopus was perfectly cooked and not too chewy. The calamari was good too and crispy. The papas bravas took me back to Spain. It was spicy and delicious.
