Amazing cuban food right on Bergenline! Located only a few blocks from Hudson County Park and with its own parking lot in the back, it's much more accessible than other restaurants in the area. The ropa vieja, masitas, moro, and tostones are delicious. Their cuban sandwiches are always perfectly toasted bread and with cheese melted exactly into the pork and ham. Love love love!

Very helpful, knowledgeable, and homey. Quick service and cozy, casual decor. Parking can get tricky, but it's bergenline, so that's nothing new. There are a few tables inside and bar top if you're eating in. Due to COVID, there are limited tables. But takeout is always a great option!

Do not judge a book by its cover! This definitely holds true for Gilberto's. Yes, they use cheese singles on top of cheesy eggs, but that just adds to the homemade feel of the place. I mean, you're paying less than 5 bucks for eggs, meat, buttered bread, and coffee. Stop complaining. The best thing about Gilberto's is their chicharron de pollo. This is hands down the best chicharron de pollo on the whole strip. The skin is so crunchy and buttery that it's almost sinful. They serve it with white onions on top and it is the perfect accompaniment to the dish. The staff are always friendly. There's these older ladies that are always smiling when they serve your food. I do think they are a little bit entertained by a Spanish speaking Asian so they talk to me nonstop to test my Spanish skills. Hey, I am not complaining. Attention? Give me more! This sounds like a step that you can easily pass on, but don't. Make sure you ask for the buttered bread. It is crispy on the outside, but oh so buttery, warm, and soft on the inside.

This little hole in the wall Cuban Diner is amazing and nostalgic. Prices are amazing and the service is awesome. I ordered in Spanish the only way you should at a place like this lol. For my meal I had the Lechon Asado (Pork) with maduros, black beans, and White rice. It was the best Lechon I've ever had in my life. For about $11 I had the meal and two drinks which is a steal. Highly recommend this place and I'll be back for sure.

I have been going to Gilbertos for like two decades. They have a HIDDEN GEM of an item you can't get ANYWHERE else in the world. They do this little cuban steak sandwich with tiny potato sticks and it is a a killer! From what I remember it is totally reasonably priced too! SO GOOD. YOU need to try it ! read more

I've been going to Gilberto's since I've been in high school I occasionally stop in for lunch, as it is near my job. I love the steak sandwich, papa rellanas, and empanadas. The cafe con leche is also superb, I often take one with me on my way back to work. The service is always fantastic. I can't wait until my next visit. read more

Their food is really good and that's the reason why I keep going back but the problem there is that you got to have 10 eyes because they always mess up the order. You have to watch them like a hawk. Today I placed an order on the phone and my daughter picked it up and they had messed it up royally. Got the wrong soda, they didn't send the bread for the soups and didn't prepare the steak sandwiches as I had requested. I will never order on the phone again. read more

Gilberto's! One of the few authentic moderately priced Cuban restaurants in Hudson County. Definitely a fan of this neighborhood mom and pop restaurant. It is authentic, the ropa vieja, boliche (pot roast) and grilled chicken breast (pechuga de pollo a la plancha) always hits the spot. Their black beans and rice is always delicious and the congri is also delicious. Get there early on weekends if you want congri as they have ran out several times which has disappointed my hormonal tween daughter. GASP!!! read more

Mom and pops Cuban establishment. Come here for your cafe con leche y pan con mantequilla. I like coming here for breakfast because they give you a lot of food for next to nothing. Inside is small but clean and gives off traditional Korean restaurant vibe with of course Korean music. There were quite few Korean customers as well as staffs so i knew we were in the right place. They specialize in Korean beef soup. We ordered rice cake and dumplings and special beef rib soup. The fish came with purple rice and various kimchi and pickled veggies side dishes. They also serve korean hot tea along side the dishes. My special beef rib soup was very light and clear but full of beef flavor. Little touch with salt and pepper with pickled veggies and rice paired with very well. The meats were very tender and flavorful as well. Portion is quite large and i was not able to finish my bowl although i did help with another bowl of rice from my partner. My partner got the rice cake and dumplings beef soup. This one was a but lighter and needed more salt flavoring but also good. She liked her's better as she doesn't like heavier and fattier meat/broth. Salt and peppers are provided to adjust your seasoning as needed. Even though they could not finish the dishes i throughly enjoyed the food. What i like about Korean dishes is that even some are heavy and fatty they include lots of vegetables and healthy ingredients which makes it feel like you had a healthy meal and lots of nutrients despite eating out. Service was minimal but adequate. Overall it was very good authentic Korean restaurant that offers solid Korean beef soup. If you want to try authentic Korean beef soup and you are in the area this is the place.

I will give props to the waiters who are always very accommodating and pleasant. The vibe here is nothing fancy - more like a step up from a pizzeria, great to go after a movie or another activity. Like I said, this just wouldn't be my first choice for Italian food because there are much better places in the area, IMO.

I love this place. Food is great and authentic. In the past I've had their cuban which was deliciously tasty. Their empanadas are good as well. I have had their beef, chicken, and guava con queso (yumm!) empanadas. Most of all I am very critical of how restaurants make papa rellenas because they can have barely any meat, or be too small and bland; however, their's is flavorful and pleasantly satisfying. Good potato to meat ratio. Coffee is good quality also. Highly recommend this place if you are in the area. read more

I ate steak with onions, white rice, black beans, beef empanada, and fries. I know, its alot of food, and despite being full!, I finished it all!. The food was amazing, the flavor was dense and savory, white rice was perfectly cooked, and black beans tasted fresh. The meal was priced reasonably, and portion sizes were great.
