Bad Colombian food. Ordered the breaded chicken rice and beans, nothing had flavor. The small arepa they give you for free was stale. Terrible read more

We come here for the classic skirt steak which is soft and juice 5/5. Further we order fish fliet with garlic 4/5, grill chicken 2/5 very dry and rubbery. Chicken noodle soup 3/5. Sides are a let down with small portion & nothing special. Overall is a fair experience. read more

Craving a taste of Colombia without leaving New Jersey? Colombian food embodies a sense of delightful magic that'll have your taste buds tingling at the first bite. This South American cuisine is woven from a rich blend of cultural influences reflecting the heritage of the indigenous and the Spanish. Some common favorites are bandeja paisa, chicharró (fried pork belly), black beans, rice, plantains, avocado, and an arepa. Located in the heart of Hackensack on Mercer Street, this establishment has been at the former site of OG of Colombia since 1990, where my partner, our friends and I decided for lunch. Just ask any local, and they'll tell you that Villa de Colombia is one of the best and most authentic BYOB restaurants for Latin cuisine in Bergen County. The reservation was easily made by calling into the restaurant for a party of 5. Upon entering as first-timers, we were greeted by the staff and got a table right away in their comfortable, clean, and cozy-vibe interior at their main dining room. The menu features authentic Colombian cuisine. But as evidence of the ever-expanding community, they have integrated other Latin American and Spanish recipes--something for everyone. As an appetizer, I decided on the beef empanada. For the main meal, we opted for Pechuga De Pollo En Salsa De Champiñones, Tamal Colombiano, Quesadilla Mixta, and Quesadilla Colombiana. Complimentary warm arepitas with hot sauce started our meal. The food was served hot, well prepared, full of flavor, tasty, and delicious. The quality and amount of food one gets for the price is unbeatable. The service was professional, friendly, and not rushed, and our server was Esteban. This was a real treat where all the boxes were checked, which we can recommend. read more

If you are searching for great Colombian food then you'll love this place. They have delicious good. We ordered chicken wings with fries for my son, my daughter had quesadillas (she asked isn't that Mexican not Colombian- good question), I had shrimp in wine sauce and my husband steak. Anyways, not sure about the authenticity but the food was good. We went with friends and they are regular customers. Only drawback of this spot, service was slow. Inside was beautiful and they had cute set-up towards the back. It showcased life of Colombian. I would definitely go back. read more

Excellent as always! They opened a lovely patio area that is covered however the weather has been very bad so we decided to stay inside and good thing because it was a monsoon. I was most looking forward to having an app of Morcilla, blood sausage which they make fairy good here but our waiter said they did not have. He saw Howell sad that made me and he said he would ask the kitchen and he came out with the amazing news that they had some. I scarfed it down so quick I couldn't even take a picture but it was quite possibly the most delicious one I've had there today. For an entrée I had the Punta de Anca, cap steak, which came with a side, I chose the fried cassava. I was shocked when I received not one, but TWO thick, juicy and perfectly executed medium rare steaks. My mom got the Plato de Frijoles, a plate of rice with a fried pork strip, a small pot of beans and a side of plantains. She was raving how wonderful it was and I stole a piece to confirm it. We were way too full to even consider dessert. This place has been a staple for visits for years as they have always been very kind and attentive with amazing food. Oh yeah, it's also BYOB! read more

I go here regularly for the delicious, high quality food and efficient service. The ambiance is OK, but it's often colder than I'd like. While the food may come out hot, it cools off quickly because of the lower temperature, but I make do. Great spot and honestly I like it better than Noches. I believe this is my second time Coming to this spot, first time was with my colleagues for a Christmas dinner but I wasn't active at Yelp. The service was good, food was good, the cassava fries were a little too greasy for my taste but my dad liked it so that's what matters. We ordered salmon with vegetables, delicious! Great ambience, wasn't too crowded and man those arepas with butter won my heart! I love that they have parking spots available, and they did not require any reservation, the wait time wasn't long, we only waited for 10min and that was it. We will definitely be back! read more

Villa De Colombia - Very good.. - Colombian Near Me - Hackensack, New Jersey

I've been ordering from Villa de Columbia for at least nine years now. Coming highly recommended from a good friend/co-worker, we ordered dinner there at work one night and I was hooked. I've eaten there. Ordered take out. Had food delivered. No matter how I get the goods, there is only one thing that can be said - this food is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! The food is slightly expensive. However, it is worth it because they give you enough food that it is comparable to the price. It's like ordered a dish that serves two. If you order the Bandeja Paisa, I must warn you - you better be hungry or ready to share with someone or store it as left overs. There is crazy food for that dish. Oh, and their empanadas are the best I have ever had. Needless to say, I am a huge fan of this place. I recommend the Villa de Columbia to anyone that loves Columbian food. read more

This place although not with the most inviting or hospitable staff, has very delicious food. We ordered tostón de yuca, camarones al ajillo, churrasco, and bandeja paisa. The tostones were extremely delicious and a must have! They came with some type of white sauce and artichoke dip. The churrasco came a little bit cold and medium-well not medium as I had asked but it was great. The restaurant decor was a bit sad and not warm. The frijoles were the best we have ever tasted. -good restaurant when you want tasty and fast service. read more

Loved the yucca de tostones. This is an absolute must! The tamale was also awesome; it comes with rice, avocado, and tomatoes. The seafood stew was good. It had plenty of seafood and cooked perfectly. It's a HUGE portion. I wasn't a fan of the ceviche and the avocado salad was boring. The steak with rice, eggs, pork, avocado was okay. The steak is thin and though we ordered it to be cooked medium it came out well done. The pork was good but also overcooked. You can never go wrong with rice and beans, which were delicious. And don't overlook the hot oil they have on the table; it's a great addition! The desserts are frozen. I know this because the inside of our small tres leches and delicious mango cake were frozen in the center. They added 15% tip to our party of 4 so be mindful to look at your check..we added a couple more dollars. There's a small free parking lot next door. read more

Came for a late breakfast on a Tuesday. I didn't feel like waiting long, so I just ordered some of the stuff they had on the heat lamp. I got an empanada, papa rellena, bunelo, yuca frita, and chorizo (which came with a small arepa). The food was pretty good, but I've had better food for less money. It's nice that it has it's own parking lot though. read more

This is my 7th or 8th time to Villa de Colombia and have to say, left with a bad taste in my mouth. My wife and I stopped in for lunch after a morning at Hackensack Hospital. We ordered our food, morcilla was sold out so disappointment #1. We ordered our food and our waiter, super nice. After co pays, gas, a few other expenses, I still had $120 cash. We got our leftovers wrapped and the waiter brought us 2 desserts we didn't order. I asked for the bill and it was $112 cash or $115 cc. I'm like shit, have to use my card cause not enough for tip. I hand him my card and he returns. The bill was $98 plus 15% tip for a total of $112. So I was charged $10 for dessert I did not order, charged a gratuity without my knowledge and had the cash for the whole bill. Now the server in the end, screwed himself out of $8 additional tip for his deception. Next time, if I go back, I refuse dessert and will only pay the gratuity charged, no extra. read more

This place was amazing! The wait staff was so on point. The food was great. We started with a chicharrón and shrimp ceviche. Very well seasoned and fresh. My husband had the salmon special and I had the churrasco. The baby had the salchipapa (hot dogs and French fries) she loved it. All and all I was full and got to bring food home!! Definitely, my go to spot now! read more

I was in the mood for some Colombian food with my wife and kids so we googled some places. We decided to give this place a shot over a certain similar Colombian chain place(hint hint). Food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Bandeja Paisa. I'm not gonna lie it was very good, but the steak could have been a bit bigger for price being paid. The one thing that surprised me was that they didn't have Pan de Bono. They had the cheese bread ring which is a pan de Bono but ring form. It was good, but small(still delicious though). My wife ordered the bandeja paisa with chicken. Her portion of the grilled chicken was huge. My kids got fries with the grilled chicken strips, however, the grilled chicken strips was just grilled chicken cut up into smaller pieces. They also had little arepa appetizers and it wasn't my cup of tea. They were pretty burnt. Just recommend that they make sure they are sending out quality food and nothing burnt. All in all, yes I'd go back to try something else. Oh btw they're beef empanadas were so good that we ordered more to go before leaving. read more
