Came in to get a baked good and coffee, but wasn't sure what to get since this was my first time. They have a variety of sweet and savory pastries and someone ahead of helped us understand what a few of them were. I ended up going with the standard cheese bread and a hot coffee. My wife got a beef empanada and that was delicious. Very affordable and everyone here is super nice. The coffee was ready in no time. Well decorated and spacious interior with lots of tables and benches.

Okay so Bonanza is this super cute little Colombian Restaurant on Main Street in Hackensack. I never noticed it until a friend recommended recently. From sitting there and observing, the bakery is the most popular part of this restaurant. They have multiple cases full of these beautiful pastries and they can easily catch the eye. However, I think the star of this show was definitely the lunch options. The wings were to die for. A simple fried wing, but it was cooked to perfection! The Chicharrón was also phenomenal, just remember to ask for some lime on the side. The service did lack a little, as our server was not very attentive. But this didn't ruin our experience. I would definitely return for lunch!

Stumbled upon this place when I was in the area thanks to yelp. Great place to grab a quick bite or if you wanted to sit down as well. The restaurant has 2 entrances, one in the front and one in the back. However, the main entrance is on the Main Street. I believe they have parking in the rear. The place was nicely decorated, bring that modern vibe with a hint of greenery to make it feel as if you were outside. Large open dining room with a huge area to see their baked goods. Service was wonderful. The waiter checked on us multiple times. Food was cooked quickly and came out quick. I got the traditional Colombian dish. It was missing some salt, but other than that it was perfect. They have a one dish lunch special. Wish they had more choices. Everything else that they offer was great. Would definitely go here if you're in the area.

Ordered a beef soup which came with salad. As I am chewing salad, I could literally hear something crack in my mouth. It was a CRACKED DISH PART! Called manager. She said nothing wrong with the kitchen. Just said sorry and walked away. Really? Hey manager, if that was your family chewing that dish in their mouth, will you be okay with the solution you have shown? The manager walked away and ignored me on my way out. My throat felt completely uncomfortable for hours after this experience. If I have swallowed it and ran into a bigger medical problems, this is a lawsuit. This is a very serious issue that local health department needs to do an inspection. These people working here have no idea of food safety. Watch out folks. You might need to go to ER to get the dish particles out in your throat, hopefully not in intestines.

Lunch special also comes with soup

Great food, service and ambiance. Fresh bakery and soup. Platters are generous and delicious.

I wanted to find a coffee/bakery spot to do some work after a late lunch and found this place through Yelp. After reviewing the pics and reviews, decided to give this place a shot. Once I entered I ordered the Pandebono and it was so good. I've only tried noches' Pandebono and this one was the best I've had so far. The place is very bright and not loud. I was able finish my work and enjoy a nice snack as well. If I'm in the area I will def stop by again. I would highly recommend this spot if you need to do some work or just have a nice meal or coffee break. * parking in back from what some of the reviews say. I street parked

A beautiful and warmly decorated cafe with yummy food and pastries! I ordered a strawberry cake which wasn't too pricey for the size ~$5 (was a large cake). Would definitely recommend getting some pastries or a full meal! Fyi, there's a parking lot in the back so you don't have to street park!

Cute restaurant with lots of seating. Came in on a weekday for brunch. Food was good but the cakes were a bit old. The frosting had lost moisture. So maybe stay away from the pretty display treats - but the rest of the menu looks delicious. Staff is friendly.

The food is typically good. The chicken empanadas usually come a little too hard or crunchy for my liking. They have the Best fresh squeezed orange juice. The service is okay but could be a little better! The set up inside is so cute and they have so many varieties of pastries! I come here often & usually get the chicken empanadas or pan con queso. Today I tried the croissant con queso and it was amazing! Definitely ask for that warmed cus usually its room temperature.

This is a cute place with that is not as loud as some of the other Colombian restaurants you'll find although it seemed pretty busy. The staff is so nice and friendly and the food was pretty good with large portions that are really filling. You won't be disappointed. Look at your receipt carefully though because gratuity is an automatic add to the total.

My first time here yesterday I when with my son who is a marine who came for two weeks vacation, great service very nice staff, unfortunately the ac was broken on a extremely hot and humid day , also they don't have alcoholic drink or BYOB yet. But we had a great time very good pan de Bonos

They have great food and a casual atmosphere. We are disappointed that they do not make Arroz con Pollo any longer because it was delicious.

We ordered the mini tipica (grilled steak, pork rind, rice, beans, fried egg, sweet plantain and avocado, chorizo) and it was fair; the steak was too chewy but everything else was fine. It didn't feel like an $18 meal though and definitely have had better. Seems like a pretty casual atmosphere inside. There's an additional credit card charge so pay cash to save that 3%.

A Concerned Review of Pollos Mario…read more For years, my spouse and I have been loyal customers of Pollos Mario in Hackensack, NJ. We have enjoyed many meals here, from breakfast to lunch and dinner, supporting this establishment through economic ups and downs, a pandemic, and an influx of competition on Main Street. As one of the original Colombian restaurants in Hackensack, we have always hoped for the best for them, but recent experiences have left us concerned. While the food remains fresh and flavorful, Pollos Mario is no longer the only player in the game. With eight Colombian restaurants now within walking distance, the landscape has changed significantly. Recently, we found ourselves paying $32 for breakfast, which feels exorbitant. Reflecting on our past visits, it's evident that the portion sizes have shrunk considerably since pre-pandemic times. The arepa con queso, which used to cover the plate, now barely touches the edges. Both my spouse and I ordered Huevos Revueltos, priced at $13.90 each, which included scrambled eggs, a homemade potato, and corn cake with cheese. My spouse enjoyed a hot chocolate or coffee with their meal, while I was charged separately for my Aguapanela con Limón, a sugarcane lime drink that, upon receiving the bill, we discovered was not included with the breakfast and added an unexpected $5 charge for a tiny glass. This feels disproportionate for what is essentially a simple beverage. I understand that economic uncertainty is impacting many businesses, and restaurants need to find ways to stay afloat. However, the experience cannot come at the cost of customer satisfaction. It's disheartening that we now visit Pollos Mario only once or twice a month, down from two or three times a week. Price increases, smaller portions, and additional charges are not conducive to fostering loyalty among customers. I hope the owners take this feedback into consideration. We all want to see Pollos Mario thrive, but it's important to create an enjoyable experience without pricing customers out. Very pretty restaurant, with lots of colors and decorations inside. I was surprised to see their gigantic menu that has so many different kinds of items including burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, arepas, papas, ensaladas, patacons, antojos, bakery, desserts and juices. I order couple of beef empanadas and flan to go. The lady packed up my items right away, super quick service. Beef empanadas were filled with beef and potatoes, with delicious green and spicy mayo sauce on the side. I was blown away by the flan. Such creamy taste yet it was dense. Like other flans it wasn't over baked, so it still had light yellow color instead of dark brown on top. My first visit was great. I am going to stop by again to try the other items in the menu.
