Pan de Bono & small hot chocolate
    Jocelyn L.

An outstanding Colombian bakery offering to go services and dine in as well! I have been here a few times not but only to have items from the bakery. The pan de bonos are to die for. They're basically made of dough and cheese & they taste heavenly, when you order you can ask them to be warmed up which makes them even better. I also have gotten their hot chocolate which is so good, not a typical Swiss miss with water that you would get anywhere else, this is a real hot chocolate made with milk & real chocolate (I'm assuming). Definitely worth a try, even if you are just stopping by for a quick bite or if you have more time and want to eat a full meal, I'm sure the food is probably great as well. There is usually a small wait if you go in the morning, but the line moves fast and it's so worth it.

On this gorgeous Friday, it was a day of running errands. After fasting for most of the morning and after checking with my Yelp friends, I came here to this Colombian restaurant/bakery for coffee and a bite to eat in Clifton, NJ. Upon entering, the establishment was divided by the restaurant to the left and the bakery on the right. There were a few patrons enjoying their meal at the restaurant and a 10 min wait for ordering at the bakery. I needed my cup of coffee and decided on a buñuelo and 2 chicken empanadas. Unfortunately the coffee was too watery and wasn't strong. However the chicken empanadas were tasty, but a bit greasy. The buñuelo (cheese fritter) was made from mixture of cassava flour and cornstarch was tasty and a bit greasy. I was amazed that this only came out to $5.60. If you are in the area, give this place a try.

This place is very spacious. I've had empanadas from here and they've been tasty. It's clean and the people are nice here. I had the patacon con pollo and it was really good. I just think it needed a little more pink sauce. The dish had three tostones at the bottom and layered it with chicken and lettuce as well as potato chips. It was topped with this pink sauce that's ketchup and mayo. Their hot salsa was really good with this dish too. Only 9$. Not bad. Could feed two.

I stopped here for takeout. Great service and friendly staff. The baked good are where it's at. I ordered the typical Colombian dish (Bandeja paisa) and it came out pretty good

Arepa de choclo sent for delivery in a paper bag. No container...and cheese in a plastic sandwich bag.

Macondo which is just two blocks away kicks this bakery's ass. Today I decided to DoorDash a cappuccino, arepa de choclo and envuelto de queso. I received envuelto from the fridge. No lie, it was refrigerated and the guy said yeah it was he who sent it that way when I called. AND I also got the arepa de choclo in a paper bag with cheese in a plastic sandwich bag. No container, not even foil just the arepa floating in the bag. So of course the arepa which is made out of corn and you eat with a fork and knife got all messed up in the drive. I called to get my money back and they just don't care the owner isn't there and they are not equipped to make decisions to help the business. They don't even say "let me call the owner" instead they said call back at a later time. Insane. Una falta de respeto a los clientes. There are plenty more Colombian Bakeries and like I said if you want one where they care for the customer goes down to blocks to Macondo.

We were greeted immediately upon entering and made to feel incredibly welcome in such a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The menu is impressive, offering a beautiful selection of everything from breakfast to dinner. I personally loved the blueberry pancakes, and the scrambled eggs were cooked to absolute perfection. My loved one thoroughly enjoyed the chicken scampi; the ingredients were clearly fresh and high-quality. Our only small note for next time would be to request a little extra spice to kick it up a notch, but the flavors were already spot on. A few other highlights: * Cream of Turkey Soup: Absolutely delicious and a must-try! * Reese's Pieces Cheesecake: We ended our Sunday evening with this, and it was the perfect finale. The plate was even decorated in such a festive way - it truly felt special. What really made the night, however, was our server, Alexandra. She was a total professional and an absolute gem. You can tell she is an asset to the team and well-loved by the regulars. Thank you so much for your warm hospitality. We already can't wait to return! God bless you all!

Recently, we finally made a trip out to Tick Tock Diner since we had heard so much buzz about it over the years and the fact that they were always ranked amongst the "best" diners in the state - depending on which outlet you viewed. On every list I looked at, it was always either Tops or Tick Tock at the very top (say that 10 times fast!). However, after we visited, it was VERRRY, VERRRRY clear to us which one deserved to be at the top. We dropped in on a random spring Saturday at around 11:20 AM and, not to anyone's surprise, it was pretttttyy busy inside, but we were able to snag a booth seat immediately. In fact, I don't think it ever reached full capacity that morning, but it was definitely close to it. On the outside, the diner has every bit that classic diner look you've seen in the movies - tons of silver, shiny metal with shades of red and blue and a big sign with its name for the optically challenged. On the inside, I don't know what to really make of it, but it looks like a schizophrenic partially renovated restaurant blended with a classic diner full of booths. It's clear that the diner was expanded at some point in its lifetime because of the drastic differences between the 2 dining areas. Anyway, ONTO THE MENU. If you've frequented diners, you've probably come to know and love how gargantuan the menus typically are with a little bit of everything for everyone. They don't miss ANYTHING. And, yes, the menu here is more diverse than most restaurants, but it seriously was uncharacteristically more condensed than most diners. It was a grand total of 2 pages - the front and back of a single paper. To their credit, they also had a brunch menu too, but it was nothing extraordinary. After mulling it over, I decided to just keep it super simple - Two Eggs Over Medium with Home Fries and Corned Beef Hash. My wife ordered the Roasted Pear Salad with Shrimp and we got the kids a Kids Mac and Cheese with Fries. FIrst, my Two Eggs Over Medium with Home Fries and Corned Beef Hash was pretty much what it was. It was solid and hit the spot. Couldn't complain much about it. As for my wife's Pear Salad, it only came with FOUR shrimp. FOUR for $8 more. Talk about feeling robbed. To say that she was disappointed was an understatement. On top of it, the salad was pedestrian according to her. For the Kids Mac and Cheese, I had a few bites of it and it was OK. The one great thing about it was that it came out piping hot and was gooey. The fries were verrry, verrry sad though and clearly the frozen type. Service was up and down throughout our meal. Our waiter was friendly and came by to check on us, but he couldn't accommodate cooking my home fries longer, which I love to do because it makes it extra crispy. We just never felt any love from the waitstaff and even though our waiter was relatively friendly, we also felt a bit ignored in the corner. On a side note, the parking lot was massive, so there was plenty of parking spots. Also, the restaurant's interior is very big, hence why we didn't have to wait for a table. To be honest, I'm not sure what the fuss is about and how Tick Tock even cracks the top 10 diners in the state. Everything was quite ordinary and NOTHING like what we think is the best diner in the state, Tops. The fact that there is so much hype around Tick Tock kind of diminishes the experience of eating here because of the expectations. If Tick Tock was just talked about like any other diner, the experience would probably exceed expectations.

Seating is first-come, first-served, and guests are placed based on availability, which keeps things fair and efficient even during busy times. The tables for two are intimate and cozy, perfect for conversation, though they can become a bit tight when ordering several dishes at once. That said, the staff was attentive and checked in often enough to clear plates and make room, which made the experience much more comfortable. The dessert menu is separate, allowing guests to enjoy their meal at an unhurried pace before deciding on something sweet. Their beverage offerings are thoughtfully presented. Herbal tea options include green tea, chamomile, and English tea (Stash), and the tea is served in a container that provides two full servings. The cappuccino is well made and served with a sugar crystal stick, adding a distinct old-world charm that enhances the café's European feel. I regret not asking for an additional order of Turkish coffee so that's a regret . What we ordered: * Greek Salad - $18.50 * Cappuccino - $6.80 * Herbal Tea - $6.00 * Uštipci - $17.25 * Musaka - $22.95 * Šnicla (Cutlet Sandwich) - $20.75 * 2 Diet Cokes - $8.00 The musaka is a baked dish and does take about 25 minutes to prepare, as it's made fresh with baked eggs, seasoned beef, and sliced potatoes layered on top. The wait is well worth it, resulting in a hearty, comforting dish that tastes authentically homemade. The Šnicla (cutlet sandwich) arrived beautifully presented on a wooden board, adding a rustic, elevated touch that matched the restaurant's aesthetic. Mom felt it lacked in seasoning but she Didnt leave any crumbs . The Uštipci were a standout--served with feta and honey, generously portioned, and so plentiful that we happily took some home. We were too full for dessert this time, but it's absolutely on the list for a return visit. Due to winter weather, we couldn't explore the back of the restaurant, but even from the main dining area, the decor is undeniably charming and full of character. Overall, Cafe Bubamara offers authentic flavors, generous portions, attentive service, and a cozy, old-world atmosphere that makes it a place worth revisiting.
