We went to Hornitos Colombian Restaurant for breakfast with the whole family, and overall it was a good experience. Colombian breakfast food is typically fried, which gives it a lot of flavor and makes it very satisfying. The pan de queso was especially delicious -- warm, soft, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was comfortable for a family meal, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. If you're looking to try traditional Colombian breakfast dishes, this is a solid option. read more

I love this place I am not columbian but this food makes me happy but the most thing I adore is the ribs soup and the empanadas omg everything at this point I love the ice creams and the creative flavors I decided to make this my #1 favorite restaurant read more

An outstanding Colombian bakery offering to go services and dine in as well! I have been here a few times not but only to have items from the bakery. The pan de bonos are to die for. They're basically made of dough and cheese & they taste heavenly, when you order you can ask them to be warmed up which makes them even better. I also have gotten their hot chocolate which is so good, not a typical Swiss miss with water that you would get anywhere else, this is a real hot chocolate made with milk & real chocolate (I'm assuming). Definitely worth a try, even if you are just stopping by for a quick bite or if you have more time and want to eat a full meal, I'm sure the food is probably great as well. There is usually a small wait if you go in the morning, but the line moves fast and it's so worth it. read more

This is strictly a poor rating based on service. The food was great but when we went to go pay. The cashier charged 4 coffees instead of 2. When we approached him about it he got defensive and justified it trying to convince us that he didn't charge one of the receipts. While I take blame because I rejected the receipt. He surprisingly couldn't reprint it because I declined . We decided to let it go, however it would put a bad taste in our mouth (pun intended ) read more

On this gorgeous Friday, it was a day of running errands. After fasting for most of the morning and after checking with my Yelp friends, I came here to this Colombian restaurant/bakery for coffee and a bite to eat in Clifton, NJ. Upon entering, the establishment was divided by the restaurant to the left and the bakery on the right. There were a few patrons enjoying their meal at the restaurant and a 10 min wait for ordering at the bakery. I needed my cup of coffee and decided on a buñuelo and 2 chicken empanadas. Unfortunately the coffee was too watery and wasn't strong. However the chicken empanadas were tasty, but a bit greasy. The buñuelo (cheese fritter) was made from mixture of cassava flour and cornstarch was tasty and a bit greasy. I was amazed that this only came out to $5.60. If you are in the area, give this place a try. read more

This place is very spacious. I've had empanadas from here and they've been tasty. It's clean and the people are nice here. I had the patacon con pollo and it was really good. I just think it needed a little more pink sauce. The dish had three tostones at the bottom and layered it with chicken and lettuce as well as potato chips. It was topped with this pink sauce that's ketchup and mayo. Their hot salsa was really good with this dish too. Only 9$. Not bad. Could feed two. read more

The place is large. One side is counter with all the breads. Other side is a large sit down area. I think you can get table service. The breads were great. So soft and fresh. A bit sweet. Lovely afternoon snack with tea. read more

In a restaurant that is empty, the service should be good, Miss Camila apparently does not know the menu, her service is terrible, thanks to another very friendly waiter who came to offer us something else from the menu and we were able to order what we wanted, the deal with the clients on her part is not adequate, which is regrettable because the food is very good. Ok so this place is a gem. So many different types of bread inside. And the portions are huge. If you get the steak, pork belly, rice and bean combo you can't go wrong. That being said, the english of the staff isn't all that great so it makes ordering a bit of a challenge. But this is in a majority hispanic neighborhood so I won't fault them too much for that. My recommendation, go here with a spanish speaking friend if you have one. But the food is really good, their beans especially have a nice earthy flavor, and the pork belly mmm so savory. So it's worth the minor awkwardness when ordering. read more

Absolute dogshit place. I ordered the bandeja de paisa which is just an assortment of meat and it comes either egg, rice, a corn cake and plantains. I didn't receive these accompaniments to the meat as well as my second order of pan de bono. I called and I was explaining what my problem was and the lady immediately said she'd be right back and left me on hold for 10 minutes. Never order from this place because they will scam you of your money. Find literally anywhere else to go. read more

I go to this place all the time I'm not sure if it's under new management but the only thing that was good today was the new remodel. 1. From the moment I got in the waitress was rude. 2. When I ordered the Tamal with rice she gave me an attitude like I don't know it's extra. 3. The Tamal was full of potatoes and ONE small piece of chicken the small piece of rib barely had any meat. 4. When i asked for the check she took long. 5. When I gave the card to pay I got up to ask for my card. I don't know where the male serves went but please bring them back. Today was a bad experience and I am Colombian. I don't think the waitress is Colombian. Colombians are happy people and we greet people and serve people with respect and want them to come back... read more

Macondo which is just two blocks away kicks this bakery's ass. Today I decided to DoorDash a cappuccino, arepa de choclo and envuelto de queso. I received envuelto from the fridge. No lie, it was refrigerated and the guy said yeah it was he who sent it that way when I called. AND I also got the arepa de choclo in a paper bag with cheese in a plastic sandwich bag. No container, not even foil just the arepa floating in the bag. So of course the arepa which is made out of corn and you eat with a fork and knife got all messed up in the drive. I called to get my money back and they just don't care the owner isn't there and they are not equipped to make decisions to help the business. They don't even say "let me call the owner" instead they said call back at a later time. Insane. Una falta de respeto a los clientes. There are plenty more Colombian Bakeries and like I said if you want one where they care for the customer goes down to blocks to Macondo. read more

Slow service. Simple menu. Nothing special about the food, but still typical Colombian food, so I guess you cant go wrong.

One of my favorite Colombian bakeries in the area ! Hornitos offers a wide variety of breakfast and lunch foods, pastries/baked goods, and drinks like coffees and teas. The few times I have come here, I have ordered coffee and one of the pastries. The arepas are deliciously sweet (mildly) and you have the option to add cheese on top of it as well. The pan de queso was another item that I tried based on a friend's recommendation - it was not only super large and filling, but also very tasty. Coffee is STRONG. The next time I'm here I'm hopping to try one of the bigger breakfast entrees! If you follow a vegetarian diet like myself, the breakfast entrees will likely have to be modified quite a bit. The staff is always super friendly and helpful, especially as I'm trying to decide what to order. Prices are low and reasonable. Would definitely be back!! read more

Friendly and attentive staff, great coffee, a kick-ass spicy salsa de ají, Hornitos is both a welcoming and consistently good bakery as well as a solid option for lunch or dinner. Daily lunch specials are economical and filling, the weekend brings specials such as ajiaco. Great and comforting spot even just to chill with a coffee, an empanada, or their warm pandebonos. read more

TRASH. I have tried many things from here and it's a constant disappointment. I live close by and love a great bakery but this place is super cheap with EVERYTHING! The cheese bread BARELY ANY CHEESE ! The empanadas are disgusting and disrespectful. The croissants taste like they're burned and from the second or third day TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED even the sweet breads have barely ANY SWEET INSIDE ! - LAS COSAS se hacen bien o no se hacen ! Dejen de ser mediocres con todo ! LA SULTANA BAKERY EN PATERSON SIEMPRE A SIDO BUENA ! Porque ? Porque no son mediocres. PONGA LA PLATA EN LA COMIDA NO EN EL LUJO DEL LUGAR . read more

Hornitos has now become one of my favorite places to eat! Their beans and rice are so good! We love the fried plantains as well. And their coffee remains amazing! I USED TO love this place ! But the type of service being given now is less than okay . I went the coffee was extremely watered down and I was looking forward towards my Colombian cup ! Than i only saw the waitress twice when i ordered and when she came to give me the bill . I tried getting her attention multiple times and she didn't pay me any mind . Then the last part was when i mentioned to her that the coffee was not good and i had barely touched it . She said there was nothing she could do . They also include the tip now in the bill no matter the size of the party . Which to me is not right ! I should be able to tip on the type of service I receive . read more

Sad to see the quality of this place dwindle overtime. They renovated and expanded from their original, humble, restaurant. However, I do miss those earlier days since it seemed to have better customer service then. When we do sit-down for meals, it seems as if the meals are drawn out more and more. We are encouraged to sit even when ordering from the bakery. However, it should not take as long as a full meal since it is already made and displayed in the front. Or is it wrong to think that way? Another major complaint I have is that there is that the quality of food overall has diminished. I used to love the pandebono, but now I have to steer clear of it since I had an allergic reaction to it. I never had an issue in the months before, but after they renovated it seems like an ongoing issue. Wish it could go back to its former glory. read more

Honestly in the beginning of covid we loved coming here it was somewhere we could let go & laugh during tough times but my last couple experiences have been HORRIBLE. We get here around 9pm (DINNER TIME) & we always show up w a party of 8 or less (w the intention of spending a lot on dinner & bottles) but the last two times we have been pressured into ordering 4 bottles or More even w ordering hookahs , food !!!! The manager literally sat in front of our tables w the most ignorant face , making us uncomfortable oh and WITH THE MASKS OFF!! Now this is our second encounter w this group of management & it fu**king SUCKS !!!!!! Writing this As I'm sitting here having dinner , pressured into ordering 4 bottles that i just ordered bc of their intent to embarrass us .. never again:/ read more

Great place for lunch! We started with a good cup of Colombian coffee, then we had beef empanadas as an appetizer, which had a flakey crust and flavorful filling. I got the mini Bandeja Paisa, which was a great portion even though it wasn't the full size! As we were waiting for our food, we noticed that many other tables ordered soup, so we'll definitely be back to try it! The bakery had a solid selection of different breads, pastries, empanadas, etc. Everything looked so fresh and delicious that we couldn't leave without getting a few things to go. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but otherwise, the service was excellent. When received the check, we couldn't believe it was under $30 for everything we got (two coffees, two meals, two empanadas, and two items from the bakery)! This would've cost $40-50 at other local Colombian restaurants. Overall, great spot for quality and cheap Colombian food! read more

Not the best! Dishes are incomplete. For example, calentado did not include chicharrón. it was just arepa, rice bean and a piece of meat. coffee refill not free, and they still use styrofoam cups. Great Colombian Bakery! Pan de Bono and buñuelos were amazing. Very modern. Clean. Organized. Strongly recommend

Came here for a patacón with chicken and beef, the meat tasted a little funny told the waitress she never came back to the table, we had to go to the front to pay the check. The owner asked what was wrong and we explained the situation, by no means were we looking for a discount but at least acknowledgement. She argued the food was fresh and fine and on top added 15% gratitude without asking. Come to this place for baked goods not food. read more

Extremely happy with this place, I will definitely come back again. Everything tasted so fresh and perfectly seasoned. I got the "tipical plate" with the steak rice chorizo and beans and it was delicious. The passion fruit smoothie was nice and refreshing.
