I've said this before and I will say it again, TAKE THEIR CAKE DECORATING CLASSES! Or actually, don't because they fill up fast. I've now taken 4 classes this year. Do I have anything to do with them after the class? Nope, but I love taking the classes that to the most recent one, I brought 3 friends and was yelled at by another for them not being invited, whoops. I usually end up donating the cake to a local firehouse. The class is such a fun time and Christina is awesome at facilitating. She lets you have full creative freedom when decorating. And the cakes are always delicious. This most recent one was a strawberry lemonade flavor and another was Neapolitan which I got compliments on both, even though I've only done the decorating. My Wife and I recently had our daughter's 4th Birthday Party here. The owner has extra space, so on occasion she rents it out for parties. The space can hold between 10/15 kids plus a parent which is typically a mom. Although their were a few dads there of course including me. The owner is very nice and accommodating. She has an assistant who is also very helpful. All the kids sit down with a blank canvas aka cake and get to decorate it. The cake was vanilla with a cream filling. They supplied a variation of fondant pieces ranging from hearts, stars, little castles, cars, and crowns. There are 100 different pieces to choose from we chose those. Halfway through decorating they supply pizza and water for the kids and adults. We provided soda if anyone wanted that instead of water. Their minds ran free and went to work and made some great and interesting cakes. Of course the parents assisted, I think they had as much fun as their child did. At the end each child's cake is boxed up so as they can take it home. We had a special cake made for our daughter of Funfetti with chocolate and strawberry. It was beautiful! We have gotten dessert table cake pops, custom cookies, chocolate covered Oreo's, Cannoli's, even a gender reveal cake for our family, for our second child. For my birthday a few years back my wife got me a custom Gun N Roses cake, cause she had gotten me tickets to their show at MetLife Stadium! Was absolutely amazing! If your having an event at a Restuarant or another venue they will come and setup everything you ordered. It was a very nice afternoon, in the end it all came down to the kids having fun which they did. Would we we do it again absolutely! I'm a fat guy... i've had a lot of delicious ooey-gooey scrumptiously amazing desserts over my 30 some odd years on this planet. So trust me when I tell you that I have a good frame of reference to adequately review sweets. This afternoon, The Polkadot truck came to Hoboken for a party that our building threw for its tenants. I brought home a pumpkin spice cupcake, and a cannoli cone for my wife and daughter since I am watching my weight. Update: Arlene did get back to me and we discussed the design issues I mentioned. I think that was a great touch and as were short on time, we could not send it back. However I do still the texture of the chocolate cake and sweetness of the lemon cake were not upto my expectations. Original Review: I wanted to love this place but was very disappointed. Arlene was great in scheduling and design. We went back and forth a lot and she was very adjusting. The cake arrived on time and in perfect condition. My main disappointment was in the flavor and slightly the look. I got the chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla cake wih lemon cream cheese + rapsberry filling with custom fondant work on top. The fondant colors were perfect however there were some crack on the top layer. The Bottom layer's work was not as delicate as I expected. One other thing was that the decorations (which were supposed to be all around) were only on the front side. I have ordered cakes before and there are some decorations which need to be all around. The flavors were a sugar overload. The chocolate cake was a little crumbly and K struggled to find the ganache. The vanilla cake was good however there was no tartness in tbe fillings to counter the sugar overload. We ordered a cake serving 38 people for a 50 people party and still had leftovers. I am not from this area and relied only on reviews and my experience was not good. I have had better cakes. It felt like a cake that a junior baker would make. read more
