But be warned no air conditioner, drinks tend to be sweeter than some might be used to, and espresso much stronger than you might think because of how sweet it is lol. Woke up hungry and wanted a café con leche and the boo wanted a Cuban pastelito de carne so I was on the search for a good Cuban bakery. Stopped by and was not disappointed. Would def return. I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and he got the Cuban and loved it. Personally I would ask that they press my sandwich longer but that's just my preference. The chicken empanadas were delish! We walked in and everyone was very welcoming. We asked about the upstairs and they told us we could go up. The wall decor was beautiful. It was a cute set up however, the tables were left dirty and had cups from prior customers . So I basically moved them to the counter , was able to sit and enjoy my cafe con leche and quesito. They had cute little cups and the quesito was delicious. I think they need someone checking on the people upstairs or at least cleaning up. Loved the ice coffee and the Cuatro Tres Leches. The Tres Leches was sweet and delicious. The inside was very pretty and they have a table setting where you can sit outside which I hope to do as it gets warmer. I learned the upstairs area was beautiful from the friends I was with but didn't get to see it yet but will do. My friend enjoyed the cuban sandwich and I am eager to try more food and drinks there. The staff and servers were also very kind. I am very happy that this is near the area I live and hope to come again for breakfast or lunch again soon. :) read more

I am a frequent customer at this place and have never been disappointed until today :( I ordered their frozen cafe con Leche and to say it came up short would be to say the least in all aspects my cup was filled half way without any top of dressings no whip no caramel topping nothing as pictured ! And I made sure to put my add-ons Very highly disappointed and I'm Hoping in the future that this doesn't go on because they really are one of the only Cuban establishments that serve good food! Here is a great, small, Cuban eatery on the main stretch in Belleville. Parking is very rough. There is street parking only. I parked around the corner and cut through the bank driveway to get in. Everyone inside was very helpful, nice and most importantly patient as it was VERY busy. What we did was, basically got a few things and shared them. We got the last piece of spinach quiche and the second to last piece of the chorizo quiche. I also ordered a Cubano sandwich. We got a few cappuccinos to wash it down. Everything was phenomenal and very fresh. The Cubano was excellent. It was made like it should be on a long roll stuffed with pork, ham, Swiss, pickles and mustard. The spinach quiche was excellent. It was mixed with chunks of potatoes to give it more body. The Chorizo Quiche was also good; I was just expecting it to be a little spicy. All in all, a must try but be prepared to wait a few minutes in a packed environment. That's how you know they're good, by the lines waiting to get served. read more

To restatisfy my craving I ordered what is usually at family get together- chicken and ropa vieja empanadas, chicken and ham croquettas only to be disappointed in receiving all ham croquetas instead of our order of chicken ones too...At least the empanadas hit the spot because everything else wasn't great... Crazy chipotle chicken sandwich without bacon was just ok...nothing crazy about it and the chicken wasn't warm inside... Cuban sandwich looked really yummy but it was just ok, bit too dry for my preference I've had better cubanos elsewhere The palmera pastry was super hard, not enjoyable at all. Guava and cheese pastry was also ok, just note there was barely any cheese. Mamey batido has a really strange texture and wasn't enjoyable...pasty like texture so strange.. It's the perfect amount of small, hot, and strong coffee. The Cuban sandwich is delicious. The ingredients are all sliced equally thin and the sandwich is pressed to a uniform thickness which makes it easy to bite through. I love this place! This place has one of the best Tres Leches cake I've ever had. The cake is smooth with the perfect amount of leches (Quattro leches is quite good too). The Flan is silk smooth. I tried this guava empanada and it's unique. The warmth of the empanada made the cream cheese gooey and it was delicious. The coffee is quite good too. The cordadito bon bon (if I recall correctly) comes with sweetened condensed milk in the bottom so just be careful to not mix everything in one shot. Sandwiches are mediocre. Coffee was good. I was expecting authentic Cuban bread sandwich. This is like a gringo washed version of Cuban food. The bistec sandwich was not good :(. The steak wasn't seasoned with the traditional Cuban mojo. It tasted not seasoned at all actually and there was no salt to be found anywhere . Had to use hot sauce just to make it decent. When Sweets & Cortaditos opened it was a pleasure to go there. It was a family business. The owners along with their father-in-law worked the front of the store and the back. The smell of roasted pork was all over the air. The place was cleaned, organized and all sweets were placed behind the glass they were fresh and the potato balls and empanadas were always at a great temperature. I was so disappointed when I went today. I thought the placed was sold to new owners. But when I asked I was told that the owners only come in in the mornings. I was there by 1200. First there were not many sweets to buy. I bought 3 quesitos and asked the female if they were fresh she then replied all sweets are fresh. How disappointed I was when not only the quesitos tasted old but the salt was unbearable. I had to disposed of them. The potato ball was cold. Then I waited for 3 beef empanadas . The only fresh item from the rear. The young females in the front gathering around checking their phones and social media while the customers waited to be serviced on a line. Only one female was helping. All others were gathering talking and laughing checking their phones. How unprofessional. Their appearance was not the cleanest or neat one. Hair all over the place. When dealing with food you have to make sure that hair os out of the way. I wish that they didn't hire so many young females that care more for their phones than the customers. I wish they will go back to be a family oriented Cuban cafeteria. In addition the garbage can was overflowing. Please talk to your front personnel. Put away their phones and service the customers . I ordered a Cafe con leche and my coffee had too much milk but it was still ok. The fresh watermelon juice though tastes like u are biting into a watermelon. It's not that sweet but still sweet enough for it to be enjoyable. I do wish they would have strained the pulp from the watermelon but that's a minor thing. Really wanted to love this place for a quick stop & go empanada pick up but just couldn't. I stopped by on a Sunday to pick up some empanadas for myself & my parents. Purchased 2 chicken, 2 ham & cheese, 2 guava & cheese, 1 ropa vieja & 1 potato. All 3 of us tried all of them and none of us were impressed. The stuffed potato was the only one I ate happily. This is a major gem in Belleville! You can't really go wrong with anything you order here - from the coffee to the pastries and cakes to the empanadas and sandwiches. Most recently, I've had the croquette sandwich, the Cuban, and beef empanada. Out of the three, the Cuban is hands down the best, with crispy bread, moist roasted pork, and just the right balance of each ingredient. The beef empanada is also great, though the beef was a little chewy last time. The croquette sandwich was probably my least favorite, with the croquette itself having a bit of a gummy texture. All of the coffee drinks I've had so far have also been amazing. The iced coffee bon bon, cortado bon bon, and cortadito Cubano are all great, but if you're looking for a quick punch of strong coffee with just the right amount of milk, the cortadito cubano is the way to go.
