Finally , had a chance to try this place out after it was recommended to me by a friend. I ordered the coquito latte with oatmilk, it comes topped with whipped cream, coconut, flakes and cinnamon.But since i'm lactose intolerant i skipped the whipped cream and I am not a big fan of coconut flakes or too much cinnamon , so I skipped that as well. The drink was still very good and I really enjoyed the coffee flavor, it was a bit sweet so I'm wondering if that could be controlled next time. The breakfast sandwich was pretty basic , but still good. You had a choice of Mayo butter or garlic sauce, which I wasn't sure about.But I feel like it could use another component even if it was ketchup. I could definitely see myself going back to try some of the snacky items and to grab another coffee. Staff was nice as well.
Visited on a Saturday. There was a line out of the door to get in. Luckily we were able to find parking right out front. We waited about 15 minutes before we could place our order. I ordered a sandwich and a smoothie. I got my smoothie first which was good. The sandwich was also good. My only critique is that the sandwich was saltier than I would have liked. Very flavorful but it may have been the pork that had too much salt. This may also just be my palate so try it for yourself. The restaurant is decorated so cute and they added touches that truly remind you of Puerto Rico. The employees were all so nice and friendly and were very interested in receiving feedback on the food. They are doing a great job and they clearly have done a great job with marketing with lines out of the door and barely any available tables. Keep up the great work!
Street parking available. You can dine inside or take it to go. Good set up for a casual work from home setting. The coquito latte is absolutely delicious and it looks so pretty. Blend it up and it's the perfect blend of espresso and sweetness! The Cuban sandwich is finger licking good. Perfect portion with a side of plantain chips. It was definitely a highlight of this visit. Super friendly service to brighten up your mood. I will be coming back because that was one of the best Cubans I have ever tasted.
This place continues to be one of my favorite coffee shops! It's a little taste of authentic Puerto Rico in the middle of Clifton, NJ. Their coffee drinks are delicious and creative. New drinks are regularly featured and fan favorites are consistently offered. The food is finger licking good! Comfort fried foods, sandwiches, breakfast, and more! You gotta swing by and try it for yourself. The team was very hospitable, exceptional service, cool vibes with the music and dominoes tables. Plenty of street parking. Please note, they are closed on Mondays (everyone deserves a day off).
The guava house was a great treat. A special touch of guava which I enjoyed. This was my first time trying the San Sebastián chicken sandwich. It was delicious. It has the special sauce inside. I was not a fan of the sorullo with the guava though. Service was quick and food came out warm.
Visited this cozy cafe today. The owner is so nice! I loved that I could look out the window and eat. I got the coquito latte - sooo good! I also got a chicken empanada - so delicious. I'm excited to try more pastries and food there!
I loved everything about this place and I am not just saying this because I am Puerto Rican and I LOVE to support! I truly did enjoy everything about what I ate at this cute little spot. The sandwich, definitely reminded me of something I would get in PR. Super simple yet super delicious. It was perfect. The coquito latte.. it was amazing lol. Coquito is a big deal for us Puerto Ricans and that latte definitely did not disappoint. I feel like it would only be a Puerto Rican to do it perfectly the way this place did it! Lol. The tembleque was super ricooo! & so was the sorullo with guava and cheese. I honestly would have tried everything if I could! Everything was just simply delicious. Every bite and sip of what I had, had me reminiscing being in a panadería in the island. It was truly an experience and I am glad I was able to come because now, I can visit more often! (I'm coming back for my latte!!! ) The young lady who helped me was the sweetest. I loved everything about this cafe. From the food to the decor to the music playing ! Go show them some love, you won't regret it! Que viva Puerto Rico!
Food here was prepared fresh and was tasty. The Cuban sandwich is enough to share among two people. The cooks here are very generous in the amount they put into the sandwich. The coquito latte was delicious and not too strong (just don't forget to stir so that you don't just get the hit of expresso). Service was great , staff was attentive and kind.
Redownloaded yelp just to leave 5 stars btw First time there yesterday I didn't even notice it was already closed but the owner still got my order in for a house coffee and it was AMAZING, came back today and got the guava house and it was even better along with the the cuban, the garlic and pickles made it so good, but I still want to try the other sandwiches! I've been here only twice and I can tell this will be a go to for me post gym for a small bite and drink!
I really love this place and the owners are great the food is incredible but the fact they are closed on not only Monday but closed on Sunday when everyone wants breakfast and coffee is a deal breaker for us. Every time we crave it we can't get it. Why have a cafe that's closed on Sunday!!
Best sandwich I've ever had in my life. I've tried both the San Sebastián (chicken) and the Tripleta (steak, chicken, and ham with their special sauce) and they're both top 3 sandwiches I've ever had. Each one is bursting with flavor and comes on this delicious bread that's pressed and crispy. This is me and my wife's favorite cafe and spot to go to for lunch. The service is always outstanding and even when they are out of ingredients they will go the extra mile and ask you what you like and then whip up a personalized coffee just for you. Everyone who works here is so kind and the food and drinks are outstanding it's only a matter of time before this place becomes nationally recognized!
El Coqui Café is absolutely worth the hype! Yes, we had to wait a little, but that's to be expected this place has become super popular, and for good reason. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is incredibly kind and attentive. We ordered two 16-ounce Coquito Lattes, one iced and one hot, and they were both delicious perfectly creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. We also got alfajores and quesitos, both of which were fresh and absolutely delicious. Everything was so good that we're already planning our next visit. 10/10, highly recommend to anyone looking for amazing coffee and pastries in Clifton!

wow wow wow. Where do I even begin? If I can give it 10 stars I would. Saw El Coqui café on social media and Clifton is a couple towns away from where I live. Let me tell you that our visit did not disappoint! The moment I walked in the place was packed with people, laughing and chatting. By the time we ordered, the place had cleared out quite a bit so the point where we could dine in. The hospitality was 10/10. But I am not surprised because my people are some of the nicest most loving fun people! Being Puerto Rican has such a pride that is attached and the moment you walk in, seeing the flag, and the street signs as if you were in San Juan made me so happy and proud to be Puerto Rican. Rosa was so sweet! Checking in and making sure that we were happy and comfortable. She also let us know that if we thought the lattes were too sweet that you can order it half sweet. Both were perfection. My husband doesn't really like sweet drinks, but he said his Coquito latte was the perfect balance. All of the food we got... My husband also got a sandwich that I did not picture... Was delicious and authentic to what I know. This was only my first time visit visiting the café and I will surely be back! read more

Second visit here & they made some renovations! love that the menu is now updated & above the register. The coquito latte is SO much better iced as traditional coquito is enjoyed as a chilled drink; definitely recommend, it was so delicious. Also tried the Cuban sandwich, as I ordered it I was asked what kind of cheese I wanted, which I thought was strange because a classic Cuban comes with Swiss cheese, if you put any other cheese on it, it's not a Cuban sandwich. Nonetheless the sandwich was tasty, but it could use a little less salt. A family member ordered the alcapurrias & yuca relleno to share. The yuca relleno was tasty & the alcapurria was better than my first visit here but could use a bit less salt. Sorrullos & guava quesito were yummy, definitely a favorite here along with the iced coquito latte. Overall, food was pretty good, a bit on the saltier side, but not too over salted that it would've made it inedible. Ambience was a laid-back. We did have to ask for the AC to be turned down a bit because it was so warm inside, I was sweating & that didn't make it a comfortable visit for a dine in experience. They were able to turn it down so it cooled down eventually. Would come again and try more menu item! read more
The staff was friendly, welcoming, and provided great service from start to finish. The food was delicious overall, and I also enjoyed both the latte and the strawberry smoothie. They were fresh, flavorful, and paired nicely with the meal. The reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 5 is that, while everything was good, nothing really stood out as exceptional or memorable. I've had better chicken empanadas and alcapurrias at other places, so these didn't quite wow me the way I was hoping they would. They were still enjoyable, just not the best I've ever had. I placed my order to go because I wanted to enjoy lunch with my daughter, so I didn't spend much time inside the restaurant. From what I saw, though, the atmosphere seemed cozy, clean, and inviting--a nice spot to sit down, relax, enjoy a meal, or even get some work done while sipping on a coffee. One thing I really appreciate is having a Puerto Rican café right here in Clifton. It's always great to support local businesses, especially ones that bring authentic flavors and culture to the community. Places like this add character to the area and are worth supporting. Overall, it was a positive experience with good food, great drinks, and excellent customer service. While a few menu items didn't quite exceed my expectations, I would definitely come back to try other offerings. It's a local spot that deserves a visit, and I'd recommend giving it a try and spending some time dining in to enjoy the atmosphere for yourself. read more

Amazing experience; it took me back! The tastes were incredible and an excellent combination with the service. Everyone was pleasant and professional. At the center was the food. I have to return, I should return. The Cuban was in the menu and it was delicious. The coffee was delicious. read more

My favorite is their coquito iced latte I will come time and time again just for this latte! Parking was super easy street parking right in front of the cafe! service is always friendly and always answered any questions we had about their food / coffee! You can definitely tell it is a family business that will continue to grow! It does get very busy during the weekends! Highly recommend coming very early read more

I finally got my sandwich today ! I ordered a tripleta and the sandwich was fresh and made by the order so make sure you give them time to make. The meat was slightly salty but it could've been the bite I had as not all bites came off as salty. The sandwich overall is a 4.5/5. The sauce gives it an excellent balance to the amount of meat that's inside . It's perfectly wrapped in aluminum foil and served with some platano chips. I also got another quesito with guava which was an absolute favorite of mine . It gives a not too sweet taste and balanced with cheese/guava. I will return as I love to support Puerto Rican Restaurants. I recommend coming during the week as the weekends are packed ! The cafe is beautifully decorated to remind you of the island. May this business continue to grow and flourish! read more

Yall better come up here and get you a coquito latte!!! I'm not joking this is the BEST coffee I've ever had. If you love a strong but sweet coffee then this is your place. The sweetness is just the right amount without making your stomach hurt. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, lol I was a little confused by the menu and was given plenty of time to make a decision without being rushed. I came in around 9:15am so there was no line but was informed that the morning rush just left. I will definitely be back 100000 more times :) read more
Amazing coquito latte! This is their most popular item - and for a reason! We went early on a thursday and there was no wait or line. We This place is small but has a lot of heart and I loved the decor and dominoes table. They were sadly out of the tiramisu tres leches when I went but all the more reason to visit again! I definitely love the ambiance this place offers. Getting there on a late Saturday is definitely a harsher wait time I assume. Though I waited for about an hour and a half, the food was definitely worth it. I ordered a San Sebastián and a Coquito Latte plus some other ready-made treats. Everything was delicious and though there was a wait, the staff was mindful and was sure to give little samples to those waiting. This family-owned business is trying their best to acclimate to the heavy influx of customers so please be mindful of this when you come in. read more

Oo, let me tell you.. A time was had! Picture this, rainy Saturday AM. Your craving a morning wake me up and roll out in sweats to the brisk spring weather and stumble upon a gem. This cafe made the morning We ordered within 5 mins, it was a small cozy space and not too crowded to start. **Note: It is on the smaller side with limited tables, so you may not find a space to sit and may want to consider togo. We were able to get one of their two booths fortunately. The man behind the counter was crafting together sandwiches on the flattop. I looked at the menu and saw the San Sebastian, and knew it was going to be elite. First bite... wow. Coqui latte was nice. I make them at home so it was nice to see a comparable. This was slightly sweeter for me, but this felt like a hug in a mug. It was nice drinking this from a mug rather than a togo cup. The only downside, which I understand, is that there are no gluten free options for our son who was with us outside of a beverage. It makes sense as everything is fried or a sandwich. Maybe one day! read more
