10. Tuna Fish Cold Sub
Eric H.

The food and the people were both great. The place itself and the overall vibe/environment took away from the experience in my opinion. I ordered the tuna, as it came highly recommended, and it did not disappoint. It was fresh, delicious, and also cheap. Sandwiches these days will typically run you $12-15 but this was $6 and change I believe. I'd trust Troops to absolutely nail it on any simple sandwich.

Cheesesteak

Troops subs Cheesesteak was delicious but could've put more of a crust on the steak Bread is fresh Sandwiches are bit soggy A whole comes as 2 halfs which is confusing Sandwiches should be labeled

The filthy & disgusting counter that they make sandwiches on top of without even cleaning! No food establishment should look like this.
Hope G.

This place is absolutely filthy. Pictured below is a photo of the counter where the sandwich I ordered was made on.... completely unacceptable. The bread was taken from that mess of crumpled up paper and stray pieces of meat and then made right on top of it!! I was getting food for someone else and was contemplating ordering myself a sandwich until I saw the filth where the sandwiches were being made. My jaw dropped. I don't see how this place is not shut down. They didn't even try to clean the counter before making the sandwich. It was scary!!!

Yummy!!

Pastrami Grill Bistro

Pastrami Grill Bistro

Absolutely lives up to the hype!…read more The pastrami is insanely tender like melt in your mouth kind of good. The sandwich is definitely messy, but that's how you know it's done right when its packed and stacked with meat! Even with a line out the door, the guys behind the counter cutting the meat are friendly and keep things moving. They even hand out samples while you wait, which makes the whole experience feel welcoming (and honestly makes the wait easier).

Update: I've finally tried the pastrami. The sandwiches are huge. We got the pastrami cheese…read morefries, and a corned beef reuben. The pastrami is really good and is very tender. The fries are steak fries, which I don't typically love but it worked well as a vehicle for the pastrami. The corned beef is a bit dry. We had some pierogies but these were superrrr oily. We also ordered a matzoh ball soup because I've never had it before. But the second I saw them microwave it in a plastic container, I knew I had made a mistake. It was basically just a matzoh ball in very salty chicken bouillon water. I'm sad that was my first matzoh ball soup experience but am not deterred from finding a real one elsewhere. Based on my previous visit and this one, it seems like you should just stick to a classic pastrami sandwich. It's big enough to share between two people. Next time, I'd like to dine in and eat it fresh. The sandwiches also come with a bunch of pickles, which was nice. Tip #1 - there is a parking lot but because there are so many stores and it's next to Bratek Deli, it's a nightmare. It did also happen to be Good Friday, so maybe that made it worse? I don't remember it being that bad the first time around. Tip #2 - I called ahead to place my order but still had to wait 15 minutes extra after the quoted time. They prioritize walk-in customers, so you might as well just order in store.

Did one know that May 5 is National Hoagie Day?…read more A hoagie is a bread roll sandwich piled high with deli meats, cheese, fixings, and dressing, and is usually at least six inches long. The term 'hoagie' is most commonly used in Philadelphia and South Jersey. They are usually served cold because of their association with Italian American culture. Located on Lafayette Avenue in Hawthorne, this iconic establishment is an award-winning sandwich shop where locals know it for their large and filling sandwiches. Upon entering Bogie's Hoagies & Deli, my partner and I knew right away this was going to be a nice lunch spot as we were greeted by the staff and a huge deli selection menu. Besides sandwiches, they have pizza cooked inside a brick oven. We decided on the Meatball Marinara and Honey Turkey 1/2 size hoagies after comparing the sizes. The Honey Turkey packed a punch with the meat, lettuce, canned sweet peppers, tomatoes, onion, provolone cheese, mayonnaise, and oil & vinegar. The meal was tasty, and well seasoned. However, with the bread being thinner, it made the meatball sandwich soggy and fell apart. Even with the half size, we took the sandwich home. The price was reasonable. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I was told by the staff that size does matter for a sandwich, and this place did not disappoint as first-timers, which we can recommend.

This place is definitely it. Frank was phenomenal and easy to work with. After a long morning, we couldn't have asked for a better place to be. And, my mom was 100% Italian heritage. Granted it was a Saturday night, but this was packed - always a good sign. We started with the calamari which was fried perfectly. My only complaint was it was overly salty. The cacio e pepe my wife had was very creamy but could have used more salt. My daughter had the carbonara with crispy guanciale that was fantastic. Shout out to Maria and the rest of the staff! Will definitely be back.

We ordered the meatball sandwich, the eggplant parmesan sandwich, and the chicken and rice soup. The sandwiches were incredibly tasty, with an excellent marinara sauce and great mouth feel. The bread also was amazing - I think it may have been an Aversa seeded roll. The sandwiches were huge servings, and we packed half to go. It was a cold, rainy day, so we also craved warm soup. The chicken and rice soup was probably the best I have ever had - it had a golden hue, flavorful and clear broth, and perfectly cooked rice and carrots, with just the right amount of tender white meat chicken. That soup was so delicious that we ordered another serving to go. Nick's strikes us as a family business, where they take great pride in their homemade recipes and treat everyone like family. The guy who took our order, brought our food, and interacted with us was so friendly, genuinely kind, and helpful. We also noticed that he was equally friendly to all customers.
