Newly renovated, but same exact sub locals have enjoyed for decades. Having grown up in the area, Big Stash's has been a local gem. You haven't had a sub until you've had a Big Stash's Belly buster. Forget dinner if you get one for lunch, it is filling. Top quality cold cuts, and massive sandwich. Just 1 or 2 guys behind the counter who get you in/out quickly. They have a few tables if you want to dine in. No frills, local spot for consistently great food.

Last time I had a Big Stash's Sub was 1972 at Washington Jr High. It was delicious then, it's delicious now! This is the GOLD standard for submarine sandwiches. Whether it's the salt and vinegar soaked onions, the huge chunk of tomato or shredded lettuce (not to mention over-stuffed meats), everything just works, like it did in 1972. Go, go, go support this classic Jersey gem. It even comes with a nice view of St Cecilia's!

Here's another, phenomenal, hidden gem tucked away on the main drag in Kearny. Quick heads up.... Street parking only and CASH ONLY... Hit the ATM prior to going. Honestly, cost wise, there's no better deal. Half of a sandwich is approximately $8 and it's seriously a meal; and I can eat with the best of them. You can dine in or take out. The young man behind the counter was excellent. Very efficient and everything was perfect. I got a half of a belly buster, which is basically everything and my son got a turkey and provolone. Bread was fresh, meats were fresh, veggies were fresh and made to order. Don't snooze on this place. It just made it in my rotation.

    Cheese steak

The cheese steak with peppers and onions was delicious. The veggies were nicely fried and the sandwich wasn't too greasy like some dripping wet cheese steaks, but also wasn't dry. I will definitely be back for more. The premises has been renovated neatly but still maintains the nostalgic old sub shop feeling.

I'm actually mad at myself for living in Kearny my whole life and never going to Stash's. Such a hidden gem!! Tons of metered street parking right on the main avenue. It's definitely a little hole in the wall store but that's what makes it special. They've got a small menu of sandwiches but I'm sure you can ask for whatever you'd like and they'll accommodate. I went in, ordered my two sandwiches and I was out within 10 minutes. So quick and easy. You can also call ahead if you're in a huge rush, they definitely work quickly. My turkey and provolone was everything I wanted it to be and more. With all the works, including that delicious full fat mayo I never have. It was messy, flavorful and everything a good sandwich is. High quality meats and a generous amount of them too. Their prices are also incredibly reasonable. A half a sandwich is literally two servings - try them out!

Menu as of 3.1.2018. A half sandwich is like a whole most places.

Huge sandwiches! Tuna sub was on the messy side, but oh so good. Really delish, even if I had to use a fork lol. I'd say maybe get the oil/vinegar on the side or just add it at home , especially if you think you'll have leftovers. The belly buster was fresh and tasty. That's all I've tried so far. I learned it was cash only, but the prices are very reasonable. Especially for the size of these monsters. A whole will feed 2 very hungry people, more if you are willing to share. Posting a pic of the current menu pricing.

I immediately stopped on the Vietnamese restaurant with almost a perfect rating at 4.9 stars and 500+ reviews. I'm equally excited, and skeptical. NY/NJ residents aren't the easiest to win over. I walked maybe 6 min to the restaurant. It was a nice sized store front with a well lit dining room, and self and full service kiosk. I was immediately greeted by the staff, I chose to do self serve. Even with that, I still felt very welcomed and engaged once I placed my order. All the items were displayed, and looked fresh. The staff carefully put together a teriyaki salad bowl, and pho for me in about 10 minutes. Once I got the food to my hotel room, I was genuinely impressed. The Pho was so rich in flavor, without being too salty. The noodles were the perfect texture. 10/10. A few hours later after the gym I cracked open the salad bowl. This was referred to me by the staff vs the lemon grass chicken. I am glad I listened, the amount of tender juicy chicken is impressive. The crispy lettuce, and robust tomatoes were a great combination of healthy, and hearty. Bahn & Bo deserves the accolades it's earned, and the one I made up at the beginning. Pro tip: The prices are so good, and so are the portion sizes. If you are looking for fresher, lighter, healthier, skip the Chipotle and Qdobas around the corner, and come here.

Happy to see their success in this area because I don't think there's any pho restaurants in the immediate area. We stayed despite the crowd, ordered on the kiosk and waited a bit for our food. Given how busy it the staff was trying their best to keep up. The place unfortunately does not have many tables but we were able to grab one. The food and bubble tea were delicious! The lemongrass pork was so flavorful and tasted authentic. I would absolutely return if I'm in the area but be prepared for a possible crowd especially before an event

Staff is friendly, noise is reasonable and not disruptive, space is bright and open. Free WiFi. Plenty of places nearby if you wanted to try another spot for food. The only bummer is the Parking. I gave away the bananas. The guac was very flavorful - a tad too sour but still very good. The side of broccoli was done perfectly with a bit of flavor and some crunch. The spinach however was maybe the best I've had. Not sure how they made it so good but wasn't simply with garlic. I had a piece of the branzino and thought it was also tasty with a nice fried crunch. The iced tea was perfectly caffeinated but maybe a tad small. It is supposedly unlimited but I didn't take advantage of that. The restrooms were also clean. I just wish they had some lounge chairs in there. Service was fast and diner style. Get what you need and get out of there. No one was rude, but no one was overly friendly.
