Still by far one of the best delis in the area. The chicken salad was changed up a bit but it's still extremely good! The chicken cutlet is very delicious too!! Love love this place! Staff is extremely nice

I've been living down the hill from Capelluti's for almost 8 years and have never been. Today I decided to walk over and see what they are about. From the very onset I was pleased. The place is kept immaculately clean, a great first impression. Got a Roast beef with provolone and their Italian sub with added hot peppers. Both were great, made to order on a good roll. The hot peppers actually have a kick to them, which I love! Glad to know there is a place I can walk to that actually makes good subs. This was my first time but definitely not the last. They have been there 22 years and are a local gem. Glad I decided to stop in. You should too. ENJOY!!!

Whole cappy Italian #1 and potato salad

I was in the Newark area and was craving an Italian hero. Searched by rating and came across this spot. This was a little further away than I intended but I made the trek cause the craving was strong. When I got here, I was kind of surprised because it honestly looks like a old, run down bodega. Could these reviews have lied to me?? I was helped by an older gentleman who was kind enough to explain to me the menu. I guess They normally have regulars and I was someone he didn't recognize. I ordered the whole cappy Italian #1 and a small potato salad. The gentleman who manned the register wasn't as friendly as the gentleman who made the sandwich - actually he didn't even say a word aside from the price. It was about a 30 minute drive home for me but the sandwich held up well. Structurally, the bread was soft but had just enough crunch on the exterior for my liking. Meats were piled up and the sandwich was nicely stacked. Held up well while eating as well. I always try the potato salad whenever I grab a deli sandwich and WOW. The potato salad imo was literally perfect. It was exact flavor profile I was looking for - a little tangy and not drowned in mayo. What a perfect pairing with the sandwiches. I'm not in this area much, but Kearny seems to really have some hidden gems, this most definitely being one of them. I'm a sucker for people who do what they do well. I wish them well in these tough times and will definitely recommend anyone in the area to check this spot out. Will most definitely be back again!

Nothing, I mean nothing, can't beat a classic italian sub with capicola, ham, salami, and provolone cheese, served on a hoagie roll with lettuce, tomato, onion and oil and vinegar. This places does it perfectly! The bread is perfect too - soft on the inside with a little bit of crunch on the outside with a generous dose of the oil and red vinegar (which certainly ties it together). Prices are reasonable but I wouldn't recommend even a whole for 2 people as a half is plenty. They also have homemade salads as well for sides and a good selection of beverages and snacks. Given the amount of delis in the area, I highly recommend this one!

Wife and I have been in the area for about 5 years and didn't know of this little gem! A delicious italian combo with fresh mozz, delish and great price!

The #1 combo so delicous and a good amount of meat and did I mention it was delicous, what a sandwich

Have been living close to Cappelluti's for a few years and have always wanted to stop, so me and the GF were wanting a good sandwich and that is exactly what we got, we got the # 1 combo and it was delicious, very fresh and a good portion of meat on the sandwich. The people there are very cool and friendly, we will be going back soon to try more of the food.

Does not look like a very appealing store, from the outside. Not a diner or appetizing sandwich shop, for sure.

Long before the likes of Subs Galore (a few blocks away) tried to rock the boat, Stash's was the only game in town (for a whole lotta years). I grew up two blocks away and I'm positive I put the original owner's kids through college with all the money I dropped here. After hearing new owners decided to keep the lights on I had to make an effort to get over here to show my support. Walking into the new Stash's... the place received a 'glow-up' (I'm entirely too old to be trying to use hip slang!) and loved that they decided to keep the framed Scott Baio picture (one of these days I'll share the 'deets' on that!). Surprised to see a few new menu additions (coffee?! Taylor ham?! Manhattan Special Espresso Soda?!) as well as being open more days and longer hours. For the sake of history I had to try their 'Belly Buster' and the kid handed me the sub in a box. ("Huh?! This is a weird gimmick.") But when I got home to open the box I understood 'why' - no wax paper and standard paper bag would've been able to hold this beast together. Just a ridiculous amount of (Thumann's) cold cuts and toppings that the (decent) bread tried in vain to keep together. "Bang for your buck" - you won't find a better deal. But for me it was TOO much and there's definitely an 'art' and a 'balance' to the ratio of meat to toppings to bread and Stash's is a bit TOO generous for my liking. One odd tidbit that brought me back to my youth and the old Stash's... that "stinky sub smell" that you just can't get off of your hands (and body) - no matter how many times you wash your hands, brush your teeth, take a shower, you name it. (Sadly it's Pavlovian for me to want/need a Clinton's iced tea when devouring a Stash's sub but that's no longer an option.) I hope they have another fifty years of prosperity down there in West Hudson!

We ordered a few breakfast sandwiches in a Sunday morning. Out of the gate we are told they are out of round rolls. Alright, I can understand that. I'm assuming they don't make the round rolls there, so one you're sold out.... you're sold out. My wife opted for her sandwich on an everything bagel. They're out of everything bagels. Really??? I get there and as I'm waiting, their entire case is basically empty of all bagels with the exception of plain bagels. Now I'm confused. How is a bagel place out of everything with the exception of plain bagels. Alright, it is what it is. I pay for my sandwiches and I'm on my way. I should also mention that the girl at the counter was very confused which is alarming considering I was the only one in there. She asked if I was one name, when I said no, she looked perplexed. I'm thinking, how many orders could you have? Especially considering I ordered five sandwiches?? We get home and keep in mind that I only live 4 minutes from the establishment. All sandwiches are cold. Not only cold but it was basically a bagel with a hint of taylor ham and egg. I will admit that I do not like my sandwiches on bagels because most of the time I find them too doughy. Still doesn't excuse the fact that it was cold but that could be the reason why I felt it was mostly bread. Needless to say that my quest for a good breakfast sandwich in my immediate area continues.

I had the gluten-free pastrami wrap with fries for $23.95 and my husband had the #5 pastrami and corned beef with coleslaw and Russian dressing for $25.95. he also got the drip coffee with free refills for $3.25. Service was amazing. Owner's came out and chatted with us and preemptively made sure that I was aware that my food was safe for me to consume. Our waitress was incredibly personable and sweet.
