Stopped in Saturday with Red and we both order a Roast beef "sangwheech". Red gets hers on a smaller soft roll with lettuce and tomato. I go more traditional with roast beef, capocollo, American Cheese, mustard and Balsamic on the half-loaf of bread. We arrive at our favorite park and sit to enjoy our "sangwheeches". No complaints. The meat was generous and the dressings were on point. In fact, I didn't need something that large. Had I ordered the whole I would have to bring half of it home. I ate every last bite. It was all that and a bag of chips, which was WISEly purchased to go with lunch. Other than the fact it's hidden in the neighborhood and you need to find parking, we are very satisfied and we look forward to returning. read more

Holy moly these are amazing sandwiches! They are also huge, so be warned! I got the small which was just a little more than I was able to eat, but if I got any other size I definitely would've had to share, and the prices are not bad considering the size and quality. The service is pretty quick and employees are friendly, with the typical NJ/NY vibe of friendly but a little in a rush. I ordered the pesto sandwich, heated, and man was it good. The bread was perfect and the homemade mozzarella just really makes it! The flavors were so good as well and if I'm in the area again I will definitely be back! They also have some seating inside, though it feels more like a takeout spot. read more

A great local italian deli with enormous sandwiches. Daily lunch special as well as home made cannolis. The Classic Italian hero was large and thick enough for two meals. This was a 4" thick tasty, fresh and well seasoned sandwich with plenty of meat and fresh mozzarella. Fast and friendly service. Nice homemade salad selection. This local spot takes pride in what they serve and it shows. Parking is somewhat challenging being that it is located in the middle of a residental street. Well worth the minor inconvenience. read more

I never thought I would feel personally victimized by a sandwich cut, but here we are. This sandwich was supposed to be split 50/50 with my friend. Instead, I was handed a social experiment in inequality. One side is clearly bigger, heavier, and living a better life than the other. How exactly am I supposed to divide this fairly without looking like the cheap friend who takes the larger piece? What makes this worse is that this was not cut by a new kid or someone learning the ropes. This was cut by one of the senior guys at the deli. The veteran. The supposed professional. Come on man, check your eyes. I literally felt robbed because I had to take the smaller half out of principle. No one should have to suffer like this over a sandwich. Food tasted fine, but the cut ruined the vibe. Do better. A straight line should not be this hard. read more

Top sandwiches, hands down. Chicken is fresh and thick. They do not skimp on any of their ingredients and for that, I will continue to purchase their sandwiches. The mozzarella is fantastic, tastes delicious and again, so thick. A must! Fast delivery, fresh food. Delicious! read more

I was in the area and a friend told me the sandwiches here were really good so decided to give it a go. The deli itself is very no frills and only has 3 small tables but the sandwich I had was excellent. The food: #3 Chicken Cutlet- Fried chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers & balsamic. They will ask you if you want soft or crispy bread, crispy is the way to go because the bread was great. So this is easily on of the best chicken cutlets I ever had. It was perfectly juicy, it was seasoned to perfection and it had a nice little crunchy edges. The muzz was great too, nice thick pieces of cheese, it went perfectly with the crusty bread and the perfect cutlet. The only thing I didn't love was the pepper, it was OK, it was a bit too acidic and sharp for me, it also really felt like something then grabbed out of a jar. All in all a really delicious sandwich. Next time I want to try the chicken cutlet with vodka sauce. Yum Yum https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=d05OmhiB6eSAOb5GrgWqzg&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA read more

Fughedaboudit! 7 Stars out of 5! One of the best Italian sandwich shops in the best state to get 'em. (or should I say "sangwich" shops..if you know ..you know) Be prepared for thick slabs of house made, fresh mozzarella if you know how to order. Gio's has been around forever. Located in the middle of a residential street with only street parking and a few tables inside. Yet the people just keep coming in. Huge selection of hot & cold sandwiches ( small, medium and huge sized), wrapped up in classic brown butcher paper. Key thing is they offer 2 types of hero bread; Classic Italian crusty and a softer Italian loaf. Ordered from them for years when I worked in N Bergen and we still drive the 11 miles when we're in the mood for something special. Other items like rice balls, sauteed Broccoli rabe, pasta or potato salads, cole slaw, etc etc. Specials at lunch. Something for everyone's taste. Just come hungry or be prepared to get at least 2-3 meals from one of their sandwiches. If sandwich shops were blessed by the Pope, they would be called St Giovanni's! read more

This is one of the few amazing Deli's in the area. I've gotten delivery here a few times when I have had work meetings. The delivery arrived quickly and the sandwiches were nothing short of AMAZING. I'd definitely recommend stopping by. The sandwiches are also huge, definitely big enough to share, but they are so delicious you may just enjoy the entire the entire sandwich by yourself. read more

Love when you randomly come across a place like this. Given it was 200+ reviews I had a feeling this wasn't a hidden gem but it sure felt like it. It was the only business in a residential area. I saw the chicken parm on the menu and thought that was my choice but once I saw the vodka version I knew which one I'd go for. When I ordered they asked if I wanted soft or hard bread. At their suggestion I went with the hard (crunchy not hard). The bread was perfect. It absorbed the sauce but it definitely wasn't hard to eat. This sandwich was wow. The fresh mozzarella was amazing. $12 felt like a steal for a sandwich this size. read more

I'm not from Secaucus, but from a neighboring city, and yet, I'll take a drive here because, as far as I'm concerned, they are THE BEST deli in Hudson County, and that's including Hoboken. Their sandwiches are killer good! And their chicken salad is the best! I usually come here for the mutz, and it's really great, although personally, i wish they'd cut down on the salt content. People behind the counter are always aiming to please! Been coming here for 20 years now and this place with always be my go-to! read more

Giovanni's Deli isn't just a sandwich shop--it's a local institution that deserves every bit of its legendary status. The lines might be long, but trust me, they're worth every single minute of wait. The service is nothing short of exceptional. The staff moves with a well-choreographed efficiency that keeps the line moving, all while maintaining a warm, friendly atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, you're hit with the aroma of fresh-baked bread, sizzling meats, and that indefinable magic that makes a great deli truly great Go early to avoid the lunch rush! read more

Get the #3 Chicken Cutlet sandwich! This is probably the best fried chicken cutlet sandwich I ever had! The sandwich was HUGE and it came with two layers of fried chicken cutlet, roasted peppers, mozzarella, and balsamic! It was actually hard for me to take one bite! I loved how crispy the chicken cutlet was out on the side but the meat was sooo juicy inside! The location is out of the normal range for a Italian deli. The sandwiches are unavailable if you order early and they haven't run out of what you want. The place is very small and the takeout is very busy. A full (not half) sandwich is good for two meals/people. If you can finish one of the sandwiches by yourself you definitely can't do anything else except sleep they are that big. The service was extremely good and it reminded me of that favorite sandwich place I had as a child. Definitely worth finding this spot and getting there early they get that busy. The price might seem high for a sandwich but compared to any place anywhere you get more than your moneys worth. I will be back ! read more

This place is absolutely as good as advertised! Super nice people, incredible sandwiches, and a line stretching to the door- but one that moves quickly. The meats are hand cut individually for your sandwich. There's so much mozzarella cheese that you can barely get the sandwich in your mouth. We had a fantastic experience. Beware, the sandwiches are really big and very tasty! read more

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME SPOT! FUHGEDDABOUDIT! The food here is top notch in taste, portion and value. This has to be in the top ten statewide as far as real Italian deli establishments. Not a disappointing dish on the menu. Their fresh mozzarella is truly first class in texture and flavor. Service is courteous and welcoming they don't let you leave hungry (true Italian), generous with samples also. The decor is simple because they are too busy making DELICIOUS FOOD. Truly the greatest deli in the area. Chicken cutlets are unreal, mozz is world class, portion sizes big enough for two meals unless you're like me and can't stop eating because of how good it is. I am deeply disappointed and is conflict in writing this review because the bite that I took out of both sandwiches was one of the best sandwiches I've had in my entire life. However, it is necessary. I HAD HAIR IN BOTH OF MY SANDWICHES! Firstly, this was my first time ordering/ eating from this deli because it was recommended by an Italian friend of mines here in Bergen County. One day a few months ago, I was telling her about this one authentic Italian deli that I usually get sandwiches from off of Ridge Street called Appetizzio's and how good they are. She then start to tell me about Giovanni's and how I should try them out as well. Here we are, months later, I ordered for the first time from here and I got two sandwiches, the chicken vodka sandwich and the Italian sub. I opened each sandwich that was wrapped in the aluminum foil, took a small bite from each and said to myself of how massive the sandwich was and, this is definitely a 10 out of 10 tasting sandwich. Then, I noticed a few long pieces of hair like stuck in the foil in the chicken vodka sandwich, then opened the Italian sandwich, and noticed a few strands of long pieces of hair. I reported this matter to DoorDash, but they did not refund my order or check into the order to see what options that I have. I am deeply disappointed of my first experience of trying Giovanni's out. I can see why the reviews are 5 stars and can understand how. However, my first impression is a bad impression and I am deeply disappointed and scared to try them again. read more

Great huge sandwiches and daily specials, the staff are friendly. Vodka chicken parm is great.

Today January 27th, 2025 I ordered a chicken sandwich, with mozzarella, red peppers and balsamic. I was initially turned off but how thick the mozzarella slices were and the chicken cutlet was thick as well. I continued to eat, overall the taste wasn't bad. But an hour later my stomach started hurting and I was feeling nauseous. I used the bathroom 7 times within a 2 hour span after eating this sandwich. I eventually threw up the whole sandwich later on tonight. Food poisoning!! Either the mozzarella was bad or the chicken was bad. Either way, I will never order from here again unfortunately. I had finally stopped in here after a couple months of walking by this place and was not disappointed one bit by how awesome it is! I got a chicken vodka parm which looked to be the most popular item there seeing how half the people sitting there eating had ordered that and I noticed the people ahead of me in line did the same. I also got their #22 which had chicken cutlet, mozz, bacon, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayo. I absolutely loved both sandwiches.....price was great too! The staff were very friendly despite being so busy. I stopped in again a few days later to try their classic Italian hero....as expected, another 10/10 experience. Love this place! Gianna is an absolute gem and treated this first timer like a VIP. She let me sample a piece of warm, fresh mutz while I was waiting. And it was as quality and quality can be. I settled on a chicken cutlet sandwich with mutz, prosciutto, their famous "Charlie peppers", and balsamic. Huge, messy sandwich in the best way.
