We ordered online and everything was just getting wrapped up when I arrived. Street parking only, so parking can be a little crazy being that it is on a main street. The woman inside was very nice and inviting. Great experience to start off with. We got the chicken tacos to start with. Excellent! Great bang for your buck. Chicken was tender, plenty of cilantro, melted cheese in the inner part and lime to squeeze on top. The cheesesteak was the main show. DO NOT get a large. It is INSANELY massive. I got halfway through and tapped out. I got the Bloomfield Ave which comes with 3 cheeses and it was insane. Plenty of meat and cheese galore. All served on a nice soft bun. My wife got the Italian cheesesteak. I'm not sure about the ketchup but she enjoyed it, so to each their own. Got an order of mootz sticks for the kid. All around, a solid experience. A must try!!

It was packed with 4 kinds of meats. Some reviewers mentioned that it was too much meat, but that shouldn't be a reason to dock a star. My partner enjoyed his steak sandwich as well which had cheese whiz. Super local spot. Has maybe three tables. Employees were nice. Place is across from a church so easy to get food after service! Would def come again for value, flavor, and size!

Before Jersey Mike's. Before Blimpie…read more Before Firehouse Subs. Before Subway. Before Jimmy John's. Before (okay, you get the idea)... there was Big Stash's. A (local) institution. Long before the likes of Subs Galore (a few blocks away) tried to rock the boat, Stash's was the only game in town (for a whole lotta years). I grew up two blocks away and I'm positive I put the original owner's kids through college with all the money I dropped here. After hearing new owners decided to keep the lights on I had to make an effort to get over here to show my support. Walking into the new Stash's... the place received a 'glow-up' (I'm entirely too old to be trying to use hip slang!) and loved that they decided to keep the framed Scott Baio picture (one of these days I'll share the 'deets' on that!). Surprised to see a few new menu additions (coffee?! Taylor ham?! Manhattan Special Espresso Soda?!) as well as being open more days and longer hours. For the sake of history I had to try their 'Belly Buster' and the kid handed me the sub in a box. ("Huh?! This is a weird gimmick.") But when I got home to open the box I understood 'why' - no wax paper and standard paper bag would've been able to hold this beast together. Just a ridiculous amount of (Thumann's) cold cuts and toppings that the (decent) bread tried in vain to keep together. "Bang for your buck" - you won't find a better deal. But for me it was TOO much and there's definitely an 'art' and a 'balance' to the ratio of meat to toppings to bread and Stash's is a bit TOO generous for my liking. One odd tidbit that brought me back to my youth and the old Stash's... that "stinky sub smell" that you just can't get off of your hands (and body) - no matter how many times you wash your hands, brush your teeth, take a shower, you name it. (Sadly it's Pavlovian for me to want/need a Clinton's iced tea when devouring a Stash's sub but that's no longer an option.) I hope they have another fifty years of prosperity down there in West Hudson!

On Yelp it says cash only, but they do take cards as well. Just a major FYI for people like me that never have cash on hand. Everything was ready to go when I got there. Super efficient and everyone was very nice. Excellent service. We got the Bolognese Pie and if course the Buffalo Chicken for the kid. Plus I had to try the Meatball parm with Vodka sauce and some zeppoles for later on. The Bolognese pie was out of this world. The meat sauce was excellent and the crust wasn't too thick or doughy. When I saw it, I was skeptical but after the first bite, all doubt disappeared. The Buffalo Chicken looked amazing but I didn't have a piece. My son said it was on the top of his list. The meatball parm with Vodka sauce was average. I wouldn't get it again but it was decent. Ending with the Zeppoles was the perfect finish. The pizzas are the real deal and that's what I suggest everyone orders if you stop by.

The Mixed Meat option had several different preparations of beef and a sausage served with a salad, french fries, and white rice. It was a generous portion of meat in a large plate. For dessert we all had the Serradura (Portuguese Sawdust Pudding) which was made with a meringued cream, whipped cream, and crushed cookies mixed together. Very delicious, not too sweet and not too filling. All around there was brick, stone and solid wood. I felt like I was in what I imagined a restaurant in Portugal would be like back in the day. The servers were friendly. I gives me the sense that it is a good place to have a range of events - from a business lunch to a celebratory party. There is lots of space in the restaurant with different rooms. One room seemed specifically set up for large parties whereas another room was set up like a typical restaurant. Our party was able to relax and enjoy ourselves without ever feeling any time pressures from the staff. It was quite an enjoyable experience.
