Its a cheesesteak, Thats it... Not much more to report. You could probably get this cheesesteak from the regular pizza place around the corner from your house. You'd expect more from a place that claims to have the best cheesesteak in NJ. The large steak however ($12) is pretty big and the bread was fresh and soft. I wouldnt call it meaty but enough to satisfy. The gf had the italian cheeseburger ($5) and she said it was just ok aswell. I usually order delivery from here when I want junk but something other than pizza or chinese junk. They used to mess up my orders alllll the time but the past 3 or 4 times they havent. So I think they are back on track. All in all not bad at all just dont expect a mind blowing experience. Check out Pat's in philly if thats what your looking for.

The chicken quesadillas are pretty good. Overall it's not a bad place but it doesn't really live up to the hype people give it.

Just because they are in Philadelphia, the place where cheesesteaks are supposed to be known for, doesnt mean you should believe the hype.

The bar was decorated for the holidays so it felt super cozy. Like your local sports bar. Didn't get a chance to take a photo of food (trying to keep my hands warm and I was starving) but I ordered the Authentic Cheesesteak (hold the whiz) and added long hots with the spicy honey wings and a side of old bay fries. The fries were a bit too much old bay so probably could have done without those. The wings and cheesesteak were excellent! They didn't skimp on the meat for the cheesesteak and the bread was perfect. To drink I had a couple rounds of the Dirty Water which was definitely made with love from our bartender. Would absolutely travel to the city and make this an Eagles watch part routine. (They just need to stop losing lolol)

Working in Newark everyday allows me to enjoy lunch at Hobby's a few times a month…read more The restaurant itself is very dated and old school. Lots of Devils memorabilia is hung up throughout. Basic seating with nothing fancy. A full jar of fresh pickles is on the table. The pastrami is second to none. Seriously. You get a generous portion of pastrami on rye. Greasy, fatty, just perfect! The onion rings are the best. They are famous for a reason. I go a few times a month so, I'm always greeted by name and promptly seated. The food always arrives shortly after the order is taken.

Luckily I found Hobby's Delicatessen via Find Me Gluten Free and was so glad to find that they do legitimate gluten-free options with a dedicated fryer and prep space to prevent cross contamination. I had the gluten-free pastrami wrap with fries for $23.95 and my husband had the #5 pastrami and corned beef with coleslaw and Russian dressing for $25.95. he also got the drip coffee with free refills for $3.25. Service was amazing. Owner's came out and chatted with us and preemptively made sure that I was aware that my food was safe for me to consume. Our waitress was incredibly personable and sweet. There were free pickles on the table. I'm not even a pickle person but I had three because again, I've been dying for vegetables after being in Europe. Great portions, safe celiac options, personable service, refillable drinks and no charge to use the toilets (although I didn't need to use them during this visit) This is what makes American restaurants great and Hobby's ticks all of those boxes. I got the single combo with hot dog and hot Italian sausage, onions, potatoes and peppers. I told them I didn't care for the green, so they gave me red only. It was comfort food to the max! Delish, but I couldn't eat the whole thing. Took some sausage and potatoes for later. Hubby got the double which was too much food for one human but he used a fork to eat the potatoes, onions and peppers and work his way down to the meat. The people were super friendly and accommodating. Basic setting with no frills, but simply delicious food. They also have American style hot dogs and plenty of sides, but we will have to come back for that another time.

It is definitely an interesting combination that I never wouid have come up with on my own. The hot dog itself had snap, the roll was soft, the onions and peppers were soft and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be back but I think I will just have a plain dog next time.
