Philly cheesesteak
Cindy N.

Something about restaurants in Newark airport seem to be notoriously bad even for airport standards. Not sure why they don't toast any of their bread here but a cold Philly cheesesteak is an abomination. Please avoid for your own sanity.

Small portion fries for $9.99 not worth it
Tichina B.

The Philly sandwich was good. Was it worth almost $18, absolutely not. You won't get as much meat as you would an actually Philly place I've been too. You get a small portion of loaded fries for $9.99, fries are okay but not worth the price. Especially using crinkled fries which are the cheapest. You have to pay extra for onions etc. went to the one near gate 90

Pepper Cheesesteak (~$14) with Caramelized Onions (~$1.25) and Small Fries (~$5)
Aya E.

Ordered: Pepper Cheesesteak (~$14): beef, peppers, choice of cheese (cheddar cheese) and caramelized onions (~$1.25) Small Fries (~$5) Aya's take: Waited less than 10 minutes from ordering to receiving the order, which was great. The cheesesteak is actually not bad considering it's an airport. The bread is soft and the meat is seasoned decently. The Fries were borderline cold which made them not enjoyable. Filling meal but not super satisfying.

Philly cheesesteak

If you want a Philly cheesesteak.. don't go here. Came out off the stove cold and is honestly the worst I've had. Not going to bother finishing it.

Rude employees

THE WORSE!!! Food took a long time, the employees were so rude. Ordered a side of fries and an order of cheese fries and "because they fit they're in the same box" we had to go 3 stores down to get a cup and come back to the deli to get our fountain drink. Overpriced btw

Going on 40 minutes for an order of loaded French fries. Unbelievable how long it took for anyone to get their food.

After a weekend of partying, I was too dehydrated for the garlic parm- came off too salty but it was still yummy! The bar was decorated for the holidays so it felt super cozy. Like your local sports bar. Didn't get a chance to take a photo of food (trying to keep my hands warm and I was starving) but I ordered the Authentic Cheesesteak (hold the whiz) and added long hots with the spicy honey wings and a side of old bay fries. The fries were a bit too much old bay so probably could have done without those. The wings and cheesesteak were excellent! They didn't skimp on the meat for the cheesesteak and the bread was perfect. To drink I had a couple rounds of the Dirty Water which was definitely made with love from our bartender. Would absolutely travel to the city and make this an Eagles watch part routine. (They just need to stop losing lolol)

Working in Newark everyday allows me to enjoy lunch at Hobby's a few times a month…read more The restaurant itself is very dated and old school. Lots of Devils memorabilia is hung up throughout. Basic seating with nothing fancy. A full jar of fresh pickles is on the table. The pastrami is second to none. Seriously. You get a generous portion of pastrami on rye. Greasy, fatty, just perfect! The onion rings are the best. They are famous for a reason. I go a few times a month so, I'm always greeted by name and promptly seated. The food always arrives shortly after the order is taken.

Luckily I found Hobby's Delicatessen via Find Me Gluten Free and was so glad to find that they do legitimate gluten-free options with a dedicated fryer and prep space to prevent cross contamination. I had the gluten-free pastrami wrap with fries for $23.95 and my husband had the #5 pastrami and corned beef with coleslaw and Russian dressing for $25.95. he also got the drip coffee with free refills for $3.25. Service was amazing. Owner's came out and chatted with us and preemptively made sure that I was aware that my food was safe for me to consume. Our waitress was incredibly personable and sweet. There were free pickles on the table. I'm not even a pickle person but I had three because again, I've been dying for vegetables after being in Europe. Great portions, safe celiac options, personable service, refillable drinks and no charge to use the toilets (although I didn't need to use them during this visit) This is what makes American restaurants great and Hobby's ticks all of those boxes. Every Memorial Day we like to seek out new hot dog places to kick off Memorial Day…read more We went with the Italian combo of hot dog and sausage. **warning** come hungry! I got the single combo with hot dog and hot Italian sausage, onions, potatoes and peppers. I told them I didn't care for the green, so they gave me red only. It was comfort food to the max! Delish, but I couldn't eat the whole thing. Took some sausage and potatoes for later. Hubby got the double which was too much food for one human but he used a fork to eat the potatoes, onions and peppers and work his way down to the meat. The people were super friendly and accommodating. Basic setting with no frills, but simply delicious food. They also have American style hot dogs and plenty of sides, but we will have to come back for that another time.

My boyfriend ordered a double veggie and it was huge. I'm so glad we didn't order a side of fries. My sandwich was loaded with potatoes. It is definitely an interesting combination that I never wouid have come up with on my own. The hot dog itself had snap, the roll was soft, the onions and peppers were soft and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be back but I think I will just have a plain dog next time.
